Slow address lookup when writing emails

When I begin a new email, and begin to type in the name or email address of the person I'm writing to, the lookup/auto-populate is painfully slow. Its so slow in fact, that I can usually type out the entire address before it returns the suggestion list.
I know it used to be faster, but I don't remember when it got this bad. I've looked all over the forums and Google, but can't seem to find anyone else that has this issue.
I have two email accounts on the iPhone- Exchange &MobileMess. I don't populate anything from iTunes.

Okay, but have you ever plugged the phone into iTunes and synced it ?
I ask as a common cause of problems is an overabundance of the memory type "Other" which occurs due to bad data etc building up over time. Normally I would say to plug it into iTunes and see how much the Device has in the Other category and seeing whether it needs a restart.
But if its never been synced before I would be wary of advising this.

  • I can no longer select multiple addresses from my Mail address book when forwarding emails

Since updating to Mavericks I cannot select multiple addresses from my address book when forwarding emails.
I can select them individually using the + sign in the address bar but cannot select any when I open my Contact list as I have done with previous systems.
Additionly, the full address appears in the "To" window instead of just the name and without the email address. I have selected "Smart Address" from the Preferences menu, View section.

Why are you using a Hotmail or Live Mail SMTP server to send email with your Gmail account?
This is likely the cause of the problem. Use Gmail's authenticated SMTP server to send email with your Gmail account.

  • How do you set the left hand margin when writing emails. Some characters disappear off of the left side of the page because the margin is so close to the edge

When writing emails the left hand margin is so close to the edge of the page that some characters disappear from view on the left hand of the page. How can I set the left hand margin to not be so close to the left edge of the page?

Oy. You beat your head for hours and finally concede to asking for help, only to solve it two minutes later. Here's the answer.
In the inspector, on the Layout tab, there's a checkbox that reads, "Show Thumbnail Track".
UNCHECK that box and the gutter goes away.

  • Invalid address warning when send email

    hi,
I get "Invalid Address" warning when I send email, I do not use Internet email address format, e.g [email protected], I use my Lotus address format, e.g. CN=abc/OU=abc/O=COM, it will have warning in iphone, may I ask how to disable this email address checking feature in iphone?
    Thanks

There is no way that I know of to disable the warning. All email addresses have an "@" format equivalent; see if you can use it. (Even Lotus Notes server knows it).

  • MacBook Air: Contacts being picked up when writing emails

I have loaded my Contacts (lots of them, it's business) into my MacBook Air.  When I go to write an email, however, it does not pick up the Contact.  I end up having to find the email address (the search function is hopeless so I have to use the Blackberry) and type it in rather than the name.  It worked fine when I had the Contacts loaded at the Apple Store, but then stopped working at some point.  Can anybody advise?
    thanks
    Dan

A PC can have more issues connecting than a Mac.
But it really should not matter.. so just try it in situ.. press and hold the reset.. once it starts up, it will return to default IP, 10.0.1.1 the PC should then be able to find it via the airport utility.
If not drag it over to the Mac and plug in there by ethernet.. or since it is a laptop, really should not be that difficult to drag the Laptop and plug it into the TC.
Important thing is to get access to the TC.
The Mac if it is running lion, then you MUST download and install 5.6 airport utility to do anything useful.

  • Cursor issue when writing emails

    Hello
When I write emails the cursor changes to selection cursor rather than arrow and I can not seem to get the arrow back.
However, I am able to send the emails clicking with the selection cursor rather than the arrow.
I hope someone can help me with this issue.  Thanks

This bug is still in Illustrator CS5
And it depends on aplication main window size!
Especialy if you have two monitors, document window is outside the main window and main application window is not maximized.
If you have application window smaller, than document window (in height), then where document height is still bellow application window height,
there you can see cursor. If you are editing text in position which is over the main application height, there is not cursor visible.
    So, my solution is:
Resize main application window to the maximum size.
(And maybe you will need restart Illustrator)
(UPDATE: It depends on window width too! )

  • Re-open attachment when writing email

    Hi Experts,
I am using the write email (IC_EMAIL) functionality in WebIC. When I add an attachment is comes up correctly on the right, but when I want to open it, nothing happens. I don't think this is a SAP problem, more like a IE problem. I am using IE8.
When I move the mouse over the attachment (which appears as a link), I can see the following hyperlink in the status bar:
    file:///D:/users/........pdf
So the hyperlink appears to be OK, the mouse pointer turns to hand but still nothing happens.
    Any ideas?
    Regards,
    Csongor

This is a commonsense question...why would someone send email from the form with out attaching the form? and if they like to send email just with text they can do so from their email client, why do they need to use form? I do not think there is such option to do so....the default attachment format option is fdf format. Other format options are XML and PDF.
    Good Luck with that.

  • Need a desktop email client specifically for WRITING email.

I prefer to read my email through my web browser at gmail.com and don't want to deal with managing duplicate mail with my desktop client. However, when writing email in a web browser, adding files and images is a real pain. I need drag-drop functionality to speed up my work flow. Can I configure Thunderbird (preferably) or Apple Mail to write email using my gmail account, but not clutter the inbox with any mail at all?

    Hi
Looking at your wishes I'm wondering if you have considered an IMAP account?
With IMAP the emails on your computer are synchronised with those that are on the server. Each email has metadata recording things like "read" or "unread" status and this metadata is kept sync'd between the computer and server.
Also, of course the location of the email in your mailbox/folder system is kept sync'd as well.
So, all in all, that which is on the server is the same as that which is on your computer.
I have used IMAP for some time and I would not return to using a POP account personally.
I think it would be good for you to try out an IMAP account for it is easier to see how it works that it is to describe. In practice it is very simple and intuitive.
.Mac includes a very slick IMAP account indeed, another you might be interested in is FastMail. .Mac does a free trial period so it might be easiest for you to look at that. If the other things with .Mac don't interest you then I can recommend FastMail which does cost a bit of money annually but it is very well worth it.

  • Email address list populated drop down disappearing on the to / cc / bcc fields when composing emails

    First the symptoms:
As far as I can see this effects only the v5.0 RIM OS. We have a multitude of users and the ones who are affected all shared the same trait: they had newer, v5.0 OS preinstalled on their BBerries. The ones with v4.7 never had the problem (might be a coinsidence, nothing solid here)
The user cannot see a drop down of email addresses prepopulated with the recently used ones, and with the option to "lookup" the email address. User starts typing the email address, and no drop down is shown while composing email.
If the user manually types in the email address into the To, Cc or BCc fields, the adress will not be permanent and the email will not be sent at all. The "send" menu item will not be visible when the track ball is pressed.
    Quick remedy to send emails:
Hit the enter key after typing in the email address. Do NOT switch to the next row using the track ball, or pressing the trackball. Hit the enter key. Then you will be able to send the email.
Backing up the user files and wiping the handset and re-installing the OS seems to resolve the issue, alas, one user had the same problem again in a month after the operation. So that is NOT a permanent solution.
Funny fix: On the affected device, go to email options -> Options / General Options / "Show recent contacts when composing email" and just switch it to whatever is in there. If it is Yes, make it No, if it is No, make it yes. Then save. And the drop down should become visible again. Counter-intuitively, this setting was YES on on affected device, we switched it to No just for the sake of having made a change, saved the settings and the drop down became visible with the setting at "NO". When we switched it back to "YES" the drop down became invisible again

Once you have the Write window open, press F9 to open the Contact Sidebar. Select your contacts from there.

  • How to fix "Email address lookup" failure

    Here is a weird one...
I have created a new nickname object which has three email addresses.
They all list OK under "View Email Addresses"
However when testing, GWIA reported "no such user". !!
After double checking the "View Email Addresses" screen for typo's, I did a Tools | Utilities | Email Address Lookup and it fails on the address, but the other two addresses for this nickname object are found OK.
So I deleted the nickname object and recreated it, but it still the 3rd email address can't be found.
Does anyone know why this is the case? Or better yet how to fix this?
    Cheers, Gordon

    Uwe,
I have synchonised the user object, and strange thing is that the nickname addresses actually appear in the user object under the "View Email Addresses" list, in the "Nickname Email Addresses" section. So the user object looks correct.
I guess that when the Email Address Lookup utility searches as does GWIA, it accesses an address list and not by actually looking at each individual user object's address list. So I just have to figure out why just one of the three nickname email addresses are not making it to this "Email Address Lookup" list.
I might look into doing a PO rebuild, unless there are any other less drastic ideas.
    Gordon

  • Addresses slow to appear when first letter or two are entered

When writing an email I'll enter the first one or two letters of the addressee's name and the computer cycles for several seconds looking for the name choices. My old macbook pro and my wifes computer don't do this. Why is it so slow identifying the name choices?

I had this problem with my current mouse/keyboard setup. It did not happed all the time but when it did it was almost like the mouse was not connected to the computer.
I never was able to figure out what the cause was but it no longer happens. It may have been system updates. Try the combo updater and see if it helps.
By the way, repair the permissions instead of verifying them.

  • In Outlook for Mac, when writing an email, underscores make italics.

When writing an email, when I underscore on either side of two w's, the underscores disappear and the w's are italicized.  Frustrating, because my new business email has two underscores on either side of two w's, so I can't enter my address in the body of the email.  Any suggestions?

You can turn it off under Outlook's preferences. Click on AutoCorrect then AutoFormat. Uncheck the box that says "Bold" and _italic_ with real formatting"
