Slow Air Port Connection with Macbook

I have an unusual problem with using my Air Port Extreme with my wireless router. When connected with my wireless router, my internet connections are extremely slow. Other devices in the house work fine with my router (PCs, iPod, WII, etc.) My Air Port works fine with other wireless routers. The wireless router is connected to a cable modem and when I connect directly to the modem with an Ethernet cable (bypass the wireless router), all works fine. The problem only seems to be with my Macbook and my router. Safari and Firefox are affected, although Safari seems to run much slower than Firefox. Any ideas???

Sounds like it is not getting a great WiFi conneciton.  Streaming video is not tolorant of anyting other than a perfect connection.   You need a newer WiFi routner to support streaming video.  If you have one that supports the N standard then I would try resetting your Wifi router.

  • No Air Port connection between MacBook and Time Capsule

I having problems getting a MacBook connected to the internet via Airport. I have a Time Capsule set up a DSL modem and My Windows machine (IBM on XP SP3) is working fine via an Ethernet cable (although a secondary issue is that if I try to alter the settings on the Time Capsule via the AirPort utility I get an error: "An error occurred while trying to access the Apple wireless device. Make sure your network connection is valid and try again. Error -6753").
The MacBook has completed a full back to Time Machine but I'm having difficulty getting internet connectivity.
Not sure what I'm missing here, I'm a Mac newbie so it's fresh territory and some help would be greatly appreciated.

My own diagnosis is that the modem is not compatible with time capsule but I'd like to have a confirmation on this.
It would really help us if you could provide the manufactuer and model number of your modem.
it's possible that another user reading this post may have the same modem and be able to help, or we can check to get specifications and support documentation online if we know what you have. As of now, I'm afraid that we know nothing.

You could try updating your apple TV and then restarting it. Bit of a guess.

  • Slow Connection with MacBook Pro

Whenever I try to connect my MacBook Pro (Early 2011) to the Apple TV (3rd generation) for Aiplay Mirroring, it takes a long time to connect, and when it connects, the screen is almost frozen and the same happens when I try home sharing, everyting I play starts lagging, Airplaying music works for a bit then starts lagging every two seconds. I've tried AirPlay with my iPhone 4s and it works perfectly with music video and mirroring. I'm using the latest OS on all devices.

  • Macbook air superdrive compatible with macbook pro

i have the macbook pro laptop.  is the macbook air superdrive compatible with this?  iam using a external drive atm but it was not an apple product.  my computer has been upgraded this is the reason for the external drive.  can anyone advise?
    thanx Tracy Ann

Actually there is nothing different from the Apple Super drive to any other DVD drive made for notebook computers.
Any external DVD drive will work with a Macbook Pro.

  • Problem while using Internet USB Connection with Macbook Pro

    Hi...
My name is udayan and i am from India, I am using MACBOOK PRO from last 1 year. For most of this period i have used wi-fi connection for my laptop. But recently i have purchased a Relience Net connect Device for Internet facility. As soon as i started using this device, i have started facing an unusual problem. Whenever i start using it, after 5-10 mins. a fade screen appears and asks me to RESTART the laptop. This keeps on happening after every 10-15 mins which is pretty annoying. I have tried to use the same Internet device on normal laptops and it works just fine with that machine.
Can you please help me to understand this phenomena? Is it a MAC limitation or something else?
Hope to hear it from you soon.....
    Cheers!!!

I tried to connect with Ethernet the MACBOOK Pro to the modem but the situation hasn't changed
Are you saying you cannot connect to the internet wirelessly and through the ethernet?  If so, there is something else going on.

  • Slow Wi-Fi connection with both Extreme and Express

    Hi all,
I have problems with slow Wi-Fi connection at home. With my 100/100 Mbit/s fiber I have an Airport Extreme 802.11ac connected by Ethernet cable directly into the cable modem.
With only the Extreme as a router I was not satisfied with the Wi-Fi range and therefore also bought an Airport Express 802.11n (2nd generation ) to extend the network with.
The range got better but I'm facing real slow Wi-Fi connection both on the Extreme and the Express.
Example - When connected to the Extreme less than 1 meter from it I normally get a down speed on 30 Mbit/s and on the Express (placed 8 meters from the Extreme) I normally get between 2 to 8 Mbit/s down speed.
I have a couple of questions about this issue below that I hope someone can answer.
    1. The Extreme and the Express are connected wireless. If I connect them together with cable instead, will I then get the same speed from the Express that I have on the Extreme?
    2. I've read in several forums that the latest versions on the Extreme and Express causes bad Wi-Fi connections and an downgrade to earlier version is recommended. My problem is that Airport Utility only can find the latest versions when trying to downgrade (bought both of them recently).
How can I downgrade to earlier versions when Airport Utility can't find them? If possible, is this still recommended to do?
    Current versions:
    Extreme - 7.7.3
    Express - 7.6.4
    3. Could it cause problems if the Extreme and Express doesn't have the same versions, or is this normal?
    4. Any suggestions to improve the down speed on my Wi-Fi connection?
    Thanks in advance!

    1. Cable connections are always better.
But test first.. turn off the express.. reboot or even factory reset the extreme and have another go with it.
On a computer plugged in by ethernet test the speed.. wireless should be off..
So the most important thing is .. do you get full speed by ethernet.. if not you will never get it by wireless.. always less.. and sometimes much less.
    2. You cannot downgrade either of those models. So you are stuck with them as is..
    3. I think wireless links are always problematic.. by the very nature of the beast you will drop your speed by half.. so if the links were perfect.. and the Extreme wireless gives you 30Mbit then the best the express could ever give you is 15Mbit.. it is the nature of wireless.
    4. Yes.. we can make suggestions.
But give me the pure wired network speed first. If that is low then tell me what modem you are using, which you mentioned.. normally a fibre system has no modem just a fibre converter to ethernet called ONT. Optical Network Terminal

  • Mail on mac air not connecting with Gmail

    Hello
I have a Mac Air and Mail has been working fine but stopped a couple of months ago. Same account still works fine on iPad and iPhone. I have not changed anything like passwords etc.and I can still connect with gmail via safari on this device. Looked at Connection Doctor and internet connection is fine but connection to IMAP and SMTP are saying connection failed and asking to verify username and password. That verification comes up when I first open Mail but the password is not accepted.
Has anyone else had similar problems.

  • Connecting with MacBook Air

The 24" display has a three-in-one cable (MagSafe/USB/MiniDisplay Port) and the Apple website shows them connected to a MacBook Pro.
However, the Air has its MagSafe connection on one side of the machine and the USB and MiniDisplay on the other side, unlike the MacBook & MB Pro where the three connections are all side by side on the same side of the machine.
Does anyone know whether the cable will be able to connect to all three ports on the Air? I'm asking because I'm probably going to get the 24" display and either a MacBook or an Air - and if the display and Air won't connect all three ports, then that decides the matter.

Apple states that it will work with the MacBook Air.
    <http://www.apple.com/displays/>
If you have the cable breakout at the center back of the computer, there should be enough length to reach both sides of the MacBook Air.
