Slow and jumping Real Player 10

I've installed the Real Player 10 on my Arch box. Now when I try to watch a real video stream with Firefoy 1.0.3 it doesn't work very well.
The video is often really slow and jumps all the time. Sometime it works synchronous to the audio stream but this is really seldom and just for short.
I've made a link from my firefoy install directory ("/opt/mozilla/") to "/opt/Real10/mozilla/nphelix.so" where my realplayer is installed. I don't have a very fast system (P III 600 Mhz with 192 MB RAM)
but I don't think it's because of that. In windows I can look realplayer video streams very well.
Does anybody know a solution for this problem, are there any hints, or did I miss something?
Thank you in advance :-)

Use MPlayer and mplayer-plugin. If you like Xine better, then try using it with Mozplugger, which is available via the AUR. GXine also has a Mozilla plugin.

  • No audio (line-out) for some QT and all Real Player

    This is strange.
This link, which uses Quicktime, will only play SOUND via my internal speakers: http://www.umeportal.com/player.aspx?fid=393&ftyp=3&pgid=7&hid=13728&fp=qt
While this link will play SOUND via external speakers: http://www.apple.com/getamac/
Same with all the HD trailers: http://www.apple.com/trailers/ The the SOUND plays externally ok.
Here's another one that will ONLY play from internal speakers: http://www6.islandrecords.com/site/promo/quicktime/killersbonesquicktime.html
Real player, will play SOME mov files externally, but most others mp3, mpg, mov, will ONLY play via internal speakers.
    Ok, what gives?

    Ugh....nevermind.
I removed USB Overdrive and external audio started working for everything.
This is strange becaues I have been using USB overdrive for about a week w/out any issues.
At the time I noticed the problem...I had been using QT to convert mov files to h.264, mpeg4, Sorensen 3 files and for some reason, using the QT export features -- with USB Overdrive installed -- mucked up audio play back. Go figure.

  • Help... InDesign is extremely slow and jumps in front of other programs

I actually have 2 issues with InDesign CS3.
1st, when I open up older files, let's say InDesign CS2, or even some files that may have images in it that I cut and pasted from an older file, my InDesign is extremely slow.  And I do have just typical display showing... it's like everything I try and do, I have to wait 10 sec for the mac wheel to spin before I can do anything.  Even if it's just clicking to select an item.  Today I opened a CS3 file I did 3 months ago, saved it under a different name, and now I am having this problem.
2nd, when I go to another application, like acrobat to review a pdf, or mail, or any of them really, as soon as I am in the other program, InDesign jumps right back in front and becomes the active program... does anyone know why this is happening?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Kristie

I'd suggest you deep clean your InDesign files  that are causing issues - http://indesignsecrets.com/indesign-interchange-format-inx.php
And try these other common methods for fixing InDesign when it goes bad

Also make sure your InDesign CS2 up to the latest patch and save your file there first.
And make sure you're CS3 is up the latest patch too.

  • Use VLC for YouTube and other Flash Player videos. Flash has become very slow and VLC Web Player works perfectly for other video websites.

I'd like to use VLC Web Player for viewing YouTube videos rather than use Adobe Flash. Adobe Flash is very slow on my other computers and when websites use my VLC Web Player, I have no issues whatsoever. I'm curious if this can be done with Firefox, as I researched it only to find an add-on for Google Chrome only.

You may be able to disable Flash entirely and just use HTML 5 video codecs to view the videos this is faster but you may lose access to some videos such as ones that have mandatory advertisements.

  • IWeb Site's Load Slow and Jump/Lock Up IE - Why?

Week 3 of trying to figure out why/how to get pages I created on iWeb to load like they do on Safari/FireFox. IE browsers either lock on loading my pages and/or are jumpy when you scroll the page.
    Things I have done:
    Changed templates,
Reduced the amount of graphics on the pages,
Ran Maestro (which tells me it only makes the site 29% faster)
Published to FTP server an not Mobile Me
Site originally created in '08 - upgraded to '09
    published to server @ redmoonstudios.com
Here is what I started with: http://www.only2degrees.com/kktmp/Only2Degrees/Home.html
Here is what I changed to: http://only2degrees.com/Only2Degrees/Home.html
And pages on IE are still Jumpy! but do load faster than before...
ANY Suggestions, comments, help, critic I will glady take Anything really!
I am at my wit's end with this!
    thank you!

p.s. - whoever comes up with the solution that fixes this problem for me, I will happily reward with an iTunes Gift Card !!

You say that optimizing only makes it go 29% faster. That's the difference between actually loading in IE rather than locking it up.
That cool browser background is going to slow things down a lot.
The problem with iWeb is that you can make really snazzy sites but IE can't handle them.
You really have to dumb things down - everything plain - no whistles or bells.
I've found the solution with my latest site. Its for musicians who want to build a site with iWeb so everyone will be looking at it on a Mac.
A couple of years back I read that the average surfer would wait for up to 7 seconds for a page to download. I tried to build a few that would do that in IE. I ended up with a plain white page, an image, a couple of icons and some text and optimized it with WSM and it just made it in time!
The main thing is to make your landing page as simple as possible. If you can get that to download fast and hook people in, you have a better chance of keeping them there even if the rest of the pages are a bit slower.
It looks like you're using the default iWeb page width. I would increase this to the "standard" 980 px and dump the browser background at least for your Home page. Use it on the pages that are mainly text.
The 980 px width fits a 15 inch screen which, believe it or not, a lot of people use and also translates well for iPhones - if you care.

  • Youtube videos are grey when Fullscreen and updating Real Player doesn't help

Youtube videos are grey just like you describe them in "Flash 11.3 doesn't load video in Firefox" but updating RealPlayer does nothing to help.

RealPlayer includes a Web Download & Recording feature that adds a Browser Record Plugin extension to Firefox. This causes problems with Flash content if Flash Player 11.3 is installed. If you don't use this feature, you can turn it off to avoid problems (see Flash 11.3 doesn't load video in Firefox). If you want to keep using this feature, another option is to uninstall Adobe Flash Player 11.3 and install an earlier Flash version as a temporary solution. See How do I revert to a previous version of Flash Player? on the Adobe forum for detailed instructions and download links. (Adobe's uninstaller removes the Flash Player ActiveX for Internet Explorer as well as the Flash Player Plugin for Firefox and other browsers, so you will need to reinstall both.)

  • Real Player and Realdownloader are not downloading videos.

These apps were working until 7/2/13. The popup does not appear on the top right of the video. They do work with IE. Now I've deleted them with Control Panel and reinstalled, but no luck. I'm running an XP box.

Solved the whole Real Player-Firefox issues. Simply go your control panel, select "Programs", under "Default Programs" click on "Change default settings for media or devices". Find Video Files and choose Real Player logo to Import Music, Video and Pictures using Real Player. Click "Save" at the bottom of the window, then closeout and restart Firefox. You should see the "Download this Video" icon in YouTube videos once again and download at will. One caveat, it seems to work great on amateur videos and the like. I had an issue downloading some music videos. It's kind of hit or miss, you will have to keep trying to download a video if it doesn't work initially. I noticed that it downloads videos as a .dash file and then Real Player downloader will convert the file to mp4 or whatever format you have it set to in your preferences. These directions are for Windows 7, you will have to find the equivalent control panel options for other Windows OS. Good luck!

  • Will Real Player plug in work with Firefox 6 ?

I currently use Firefox 4 and the Real Player works perfectly, I am being asked to upgrade to Firefox 6 but fear the Plug in will not work. Can you advise me

I'm going back to ver 3.6xxx. Firefox/Mozilla is into this new version every 3 day BS. WTF? Have started using Chrome almost exclusively. Maybe Firefox is doing this on purpose... they'll just cede it all over to google. It's hell bein' poor and hired out...

  • Extremely poor sound quality on all apps after using Real Player!

    Hi there
On my Leopard iMac (Core2Duo) I am experiencing extremely poor 'lo-fi-like' quality on all audio from all applications including iTunes, Quicktime and Safari as a result of using Real Player to play a file online.
I very rarely use Real Player and this was the first time I'd used it in months to even a year. The file was a simple RAM file from a store website allowing me to listen to a sample of a music file. When played, the quality was low but I expected this from a music sample, and from Real Player. However, after closing Real Player, I noticed the sound quality had dramatically dropped to an almost un-listenable quality.
I have restarted and uninstalled Real Player with no luck. The poor sound quality still comes through my internal speakers, as well as external speakers, so it seems like a software issue.
Not sure what to do, please can anyone help as the audio is used all day every day on this iMac!
    Thank you

Just tried it as I did get iLife with my Mac. GarageBand froze for the first few times I loaded it up, then I managed to get it to work. Played with the on-screen keyboard which produced perfect sound.
Closed GarageBand, restarted iTunes, tested, working perfectly! Crystal clear sound back again!
Thanks so much for that, really appreciated!

  • Problem with streaming on Real Player - only on Mac OS X

    Hi!
I am having a serious issue since the last sunday. I use to listen to some radios from my home country on my Mac, and everything was fine til the day I turned on my computer and got this message from Real Player: " Requested file not found. The link you followed may be outdated or inaccurate. rtsp://real.rbsonline.com.br/liverbs/*/broadcast/rdgaucha/gaucha.rm "
I tryed everything, and the link seems to work perfectly on any windows computer. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Real Player several times, tried to use other softwares like VLC to play, and nothing seems to work.
    Any suggestions? Please help.

When I'm using disk utility and use "verify disk" I get the following message:

  • Real player 12

Since Real Player issued an update to v. 12, I've had constant crashes with Firefox freezing. I can only restart and disable Real Player's video downloader, then everything is fine. Is there a fix anyone knows about?
    I use XP SP3.
I reinstalled RP, which seemed to help a little, but there are still oddities, including the strip across the top (File, Edit, View) disappearing. Freezing or partial freezing tends to happen most often when a pop up box comes up or I click the download button to see my list of downloads. (not coincidentally.....exactly what extension real player installed)
Disabling the extension seems mostly to fix things.

The "RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin" extension has been causing problems in the past, so it is quite possible that there are problems with it in current Firefox versions.
    See:
    * [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]
    * In Firefox 3.6 versions on Windows and Firefox 4 on Windows and Linux it's possible to hide the "Menu Bar" via "View > Toolbars" or via the right-click context menu of a toolbar.
    * Press F10 or press and hold the Alt key down to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily.
    * Go to "View > Toolbars" or right-click the "Menu Bar" or press Alt+V T to select which toolbars to show or hide (click on an entry to toggle the state).

  • Real player missing on n95

    hi guys.
just got my n95 the other day. at first real player worked then stopped. i looked through the forums and found that it might be a proxy setting.
great, i can check that...wait, where's real player?
so i can't go into tools and open real player to check on that cause its not there. another forum said do the firmware again and it may come back. videos started to play again but no icon for real player anywhere that i can see on the phone. definitely not in tools like most post say it should be in. I'm afraid the issue is going to crop up again and it'd be nice to fix instead of having to redo the phone over again.
    any suggestions?
    Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

RealPlayer is in "Applications", not "Tools".
Furthermore, you can access its settings directly (on V21.0.016 firmware at least) in Menu > Tools > Settings > Applications.
Was this post helpful? If so, please click on the white "Kudos!" star below. Thank you!

  • Real Player et al

I use Quicktime whenever possible, however some media on the web require Window's Media Player and/ or RealPlayer to play.
Any suggestions or cautions for me before I install these two other players?
One concern is that I don't want Real Player or Window's Media Player to override my Quicktime Preferences to have QT play media whenever possible, as well as possible compatibility and software corruption concerns....?
    Thanks,
    Russell
    G5 2.7 Dual   Mac OS X (10.4.2)

I have all three of the media players installed on my Macs. None have ever caused me any issues.
One thing to note is a possible conflict between Real and QT as to which player gets control of the .smil format. You'll find QT settings in the Sys Prefs/QuickTime/Advanced and clicking on the MIME Settings button. Remove the check mark (Miscellaneous) for SMIL 1.0 and restart the browser for these changes to take effect.
Many Web pages use Real Player (and SMIL 2) to link to files. If the QT plug-in is giving you error messages more than likely the format of the .smil file is Real Player.
Having three media players is like watching TV using three different sets.
But, dems da rulz. There will never be one player fits all until all content providers follow industry standards. QuickTime Player does follow the rules. Windows Media Player seems to want to create their own. And (IMHO) Real Player will be forgotten in a few years.

  • Nokia N91 --- Real Player

Hello to all . I have been configuring my phone for a week now to get the rtsp stream (rtsp://y101.mozcom.com/y101) but to no avail . Ive checked the stream with my pc and works fine . Ive got the default settings for my real player and I really dont know why i cannot get it when its a straightforward process. Ive tested both using the WIFI access and the O2 network . My phone works fine with http . If anyone can get a real player stream right , pls let me know and your real player settings pls . Thanks a lot .
    Earl

You need 3rd party application to run AVI video files.
    Available players are:
    1. Smartmovie with converter from www.lonelycatgames.com. It aint a freeware but with good quality.
    2. Divx Player from www.divx.com. It is freeware but quality is not bad.
Also there is a player called core codec core palyer that plays vast range of media files but it works bad in N91, it skips, hangs etc.
    It aint a freeware. www.corecodec.com
    ===============
    Your last information is wrong.
    N91/N91 8GB plays:
    MP4 with h.263, h.264, mpeg4 codec.
    3GP with h.263, mpeg4 codec.
    Real Media 8,9 and 10.
    =================
If you are bit angry why nokia did not put such important container in this phone than try this:
    Download SUPER from www.erightsoft.com
    It is a freeware.
This converter will allow you to play hi quality H.264/AVC format video file.
Or you can download ImTOO MPEG Encoderfrom www.ImTOO.COM
    This is a shareware.
    Settings:
    Video Container: MP4
    Video Codec: H.264
Resolution: 176*144 (Please note that N91 plays H.264 Hi quality videos with only QCIF resolution; so 176*144 is a must).
    Frame Rate: 14.985.
    BitRate: 768.
    Audio: AAC with 64 kbps.
    ================
Now you are ready to enjoy hi quality h.264 videos on your N91! Which is neva worse than AVI!!!
Loco, I will send you a video I made for my N91 with h.264.Message Edited by korngear on 27-Nov-200708:20 PM
