Slow backup between due to FWSM

Dear All,
We have FWSM running  4.1(7) system software. It has multiple contexts.
Our DB team is initiating backup of DB (around 10-11 TB) from one server (WEB-CONTEXT) to another server (PROD-CONTEXT), it takes a week or sometime it takes 10-12 days to complete the backup (simply copy the date from one server and paste to another server).
I have configure FWSM according to this document, but still no improvement.
https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-12668
Can someone suggest me the solution of this problem ?
Does this system software has any known bug ?
Thanks & Regards
Ahmed...

Yikes! After upgrading my iPhone 3GS to iOS 5, I lost my Contacts, calendar entries, and Notes (100+) on my iPhone (3 years old). How do I retrieve them? My last backup/sync to iTunes acct was Sept 18 but yesterday's backup bombed due to lack of space on my C: drive.

This happened to me too but it was really all there.  Go to your calendar, click on calendar in the upper left hand corner, click on show all calendars, click done in the right upper corner.  Everything should show up!!!
I was super thrilled.  Hope this works for you!!

  • Is it possible to set up a backup between two external drives

Is it possible to set up a backup between two external drives?
i use time machine to back up my imac onto an external 2T.
i also have two external 3T drives.  i am looking for redundancy of data, tried software RAID and it failed.  i also see some limitations with RAID that a backup would avoid.
    thanks for sharing your expertise.
    be well,
    tony

so thanks to all of you, particularly rkaufmann87 i have decided to stop the plan of setting up a software RAID set.  instead i have downloaded ccc and am in the process of setting up the secone 3t external drive as a clone.  i will use time machine to back up the internal hard drive only and if possible see if i can clone that as well onto one of the 3t's.
this gives me the peace of mind i sounght and avoids the problem of total corruption that exists with the raid solution i was exploring.
thank you all for making this an enjoyable and informative experience.  what a powerful community.

Can I backup between a testversion and stand-alone version?

You are correct, the CC version is activated with your Adobe ID and password after you have signed up for the creative cloud plan. You can uninstall that CC version and install the standalone. It is the same program, and will open the same catalog. You don't need to back up anything. Just change over to the standalone program and start Lightroom. Everything will function just the same6.

  • Slow Backup.  Brand New iPad... 8+ hours already!

I got a brand new iPad the other day, and when I first turned it on and activated it I downloaded a few apps. The main app I've been using is MangaDL to read manga on the go (comics). Last night, before sleeping I tried my first sync/backup and now when I wakeup it's still not done!!! This is absolutely not right. I barely even have 2GB worth of things inside the iPad!
Now I've read other forum posts about slow backup speeds... but as soon as it gets technical it seems everyone is talking about Windows. Just as a note, I'm using Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.4. I just upgraded from Tiger 2 days ago.

    HI,
No way it should take that long.
Since you just upgraded from Tiger to Snow Leopard, check the startup disk for errors that may need repairing. You need your Mac install disc for this. Your profile indicates you have two Macs. Make sure and use the machine specific disc that came with the Mac you tried the backup with.
Insert your install disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu and launch Disk Utility.
(In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first from the installer menu)
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel. It should say: Verified)
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
When you are finished with DU, from the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Startup Manager.
Select your start up disk and click Restart
While you have the Disk Utility window open, look at the bottom of the window. Where you see Capacity and Available. Make sure there is always 10% to 15% free disk space

  • IPhone slow backup

I have an iPhone 4 and when I plug it in to sync, it backed up for 9 hours and still hasn't finished! What's wrong? Or how can I fix this?

Wow! That totally solved my problem! I'd been trying to back up my iPhone for the entire morning (from 9:12 am to 11:20, it had only gotten through 20% of my iPhone and I simply got so frustrated I force quit iTunes and searched online for "slow iPhone backup" and found this post. Although I don't have the Guardian App, I went and deleted every single non-Apple App, and then reconnected my iPhone and was ASTONISHED to see my iPhone get backed up in less than 60 seconds!!! I'm not sure what was the offending App in my case, but clearly, it appears that when slow backups are a problem, Apps can most definitely be a cause...

I'd say, first, double-check the things you did that seem to have caused the problem.
If it all seems fine, try Verifying your internal HD and Repairing your backups, per #A5 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting, to be sure it isn't some sort of directory problem.
If still no help, a few folks have had a somewhat similar problem (very slow backups with huge file counts) with 10.6.8;  many managed to solve it by reinstalling OSX, but only going back to 10.6.7 via that "combo."  Just why is a mystery, unfortunately.

  • Splitting backup between two EHDs?

I hope to buy a new iMac this week. The HD is 640GB, if I remember right. My EHD for backups is only 300 GB, which is enough for right now, but I'm not sure what to do when I get more than 300 GB of data on my computer!
Would it be better just to buy a bigger EHD? Or can I use Time Machine to split my backups between two smaller EHDs? (For example, my jpg-containing folders would always back up to one EHD, while my png-containing folders would always back up to the other.)
I'd really rather just buy a second 300 GB EHD, if possible, because then I can start using it right away for selective duplicate backups of my really important stuff. Just not sure how that will work when I get more than 300GB of data on my computer.
    Thanks!

Time Machine can not work with more than one backup drive.
The rule of thumb for a TM drive is to size it to twice the size of the drive you want to back up. TM is not just a simple backup program. One very important reason to use TM is to be able to restore deleted or older versions of files. This requires more storage than just the size of the boot drive.
External hard drives are usually fairly easy to upgrade by purchasing a larger drive and installing it into the external case.
You can also choose to exempt certain large collections of data from the TM backup, like music, video, photos, or folders and then use a program like SuperDuper to run a schedule to back those folders up to a different drive on a regular basis.
You could also use your exising drive as a bootable backup with your OS and most important files copied on a regular basis with a program like SuperDuper! so that you have a bootable backup to test with, or to continue work with in the event your main drive fails.

  • Slow backup - A Potential Culprit Found

For those of you who have been suffering from slow back ups in UK then I have finally found the culprit on my build. With all of the updates to iOS over the last couple of weeks backing up was becoming a real pain with a reasonable performance until the last ~10% before it almost stopped and took hours.
The culprit after much troubleshooting seems to have been "The Times" newspaper app. Over time you build up a cache of daily editions (~60Mb a day possibly) which seem to gum up back up.
If you go to the Settings for the app you can chose to clear the cache next time you open the app and doing this just before backing up resolves the issue.
Hopes this helps make some of your lives easier!

  • Slow internet speed due to PC interfering with BT ...

In July I bought a Medion desktop PC from Aldi. From the outset I had problems getting it to work reliably with the Internet. When the PC was switched on the download speed would be about 14Mbps, but it would gradually deteriorate until it stopped working altogether, and it would also slow down the rest of my network. This was the case using either wired or wireless connection. BT support weren't interested as all my other devices (two laptops, Nexus 7, and iPhone) worked perfectly as long as the Medion PC wasn't connected. They said the PC must be faulty and I couldn't argue with this. I became convinced that as the problem got worse after the PC had been switched on for some time, it must be a thermal problem in the PC. Support from Medion was useless, so the PC was taken back to Aldi for a refund.
Last month I got a new PC from a local shop that custom-builds PCs to your spec. When I got it, lo and behold it had exactly the same problem, although it worked fine in the shop on their (non-BT) internet connection, and also when the owner subsequently tested it on his home network. I also noticed that the problem occurred to a lesser extent (slowing down other devices on the network) if the PC was switched on but not connected to the Internet, with both wired and wireless network adapters being disabled. This makes me believe that the PC is generating some interference to which the BT Hub is susceptible.
It's pointless trying to get support from BT as they will just use the same argument, (other devices work fine so it must be the PC) - but on the other hand, the PC works fine on other Internet connections.
The PC has an AMD 4 x 3.8GHz processor. The PC and Hub are in different rooms about 20ft apart.
Has anyone experienced a similar problem and found a solution? Would a later version BT Hub be any better? If the problem isn't resolved I am going to switch back to Virgin when my BT contract runs out.

Thank you very much for your suggestions. I did some experiments and got some interesting results.
The monitor isn't the problem, completely disconnecting it made no difference. The interference is definitely being carried over the mains. Per your suggestion, I tried leaving the new PC in its existing location but connected via an extension lead to the cooker socket in the kitchen, a 40A circuit close to the consumer unit. With the new PC on but not connected to anything, other devices on the network are fine. However, connecting an ethernet cable immediately screws things up, so the the ethernet cable is also acting as a conduit for the interference. Wireless on the new PC seems to work but it and the rest of my network are still slow, fluctuates between about 7Mbps and 10Mbps v 14Mbps normally.
I'm not sure if this is going to lead to a practical solution because:
    1. Can't run a permanent cable to the kitchen!
    2. Speed is not brilliant, wired still doesn't work on new PC.
    3. The new PC is being configured in the spare bedroom, but must ultimately replace my old PC in my office. This is where all the ethernet cables on my network converge and where the BT socket is, so the BT Hub must be in the office as well.
    4. All PCs are already connected to mains sockets via filters/interference suppressors, so I don't see what else can be done to reduce mains-borne interference.
Having identified the root cause of the problem, any suggestions for a permanent solution that would let me have my office set up as I need it would be very welcome.

    Hello,
I am having an issue with slow performance between vlan 1 and vlan 10, I have IPv4 routing enabled and I have SVI on vlan 1 and vlan 10 respectfully. Within the same vlan the speed is great. Would it also be a problem with using vlan 1 in production for something like this? Normally I stay away from Vlan 1.
