Slow boot after connecting Blu Ray to motherboard SATA port

I have installed a Blu Ray burner (LG GGW-H20L) in the upper bay. It is connected directly to the lower SATA motherboard port. My 112D is in the lower.
All is working well (except have to use Finder burn instead of Toast for BD burns) apart from really slow boot up times.
I have tried SMC reset and PRAM reset.
Any ideas?
BTW I was pleased to be able to connect to the SATA port without taking out the fan assembly etc etc for anyone thinking of doing this.

The "problem" was the the SATA-USB cable adapter I had been using previously when trying out the LG as external. I had left the adapter plugged in and powered up but not connected to anything. As soon as I depowered it fast boots restored!

  • Audio popping after burning blu-ray in 5.1

Just as a disclaimer, I am fairly new to Adobe Premiere and I am running Premiere Elements 8 on a Sony Vaio with an Intel Core i5-580M processor, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 GPU, 8GB DDR3-SDRAM-1066 and Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit.
I am attempting to create blu-ray disks in full HD and 5.1 surround sound. Source video is full HD 1920x1080 with .M2TS extension. When I have Adobe Premiere Elements 8 check the properties for my videos, it says the source audio format is "48,000Hz - compressed - 6 channels" and the project audio format is "48,000Hz - 32 bit floating point - 6 channels". This is despite the fact that the source should be 5.1. However when editing videos "5.1" shows up next to audio 1 on the timeline. I read something about this issue and I assume this isn't the cause for any poor audio after a blu-ray burn.
I create new projects using these settings:
                   NTSC-AVCHD-Full HD 1080i 30 5.1 Channel
After some quick editing I burn a blu-ray disk with the H.264 1920x1080i NTSC Dolby preset. When checking the quality of the burn the video looks great, but audio has a distinct popping or crackling occasionally that is not in the source files at all. Anyone have any ideas why a burn causes these audio blemishes to show up? I have never had any issues with 2 channel burns and I will probably just end up sticking with 2 channel audio if a solution can't be discovered. Also of note, the audio output is much lower from the burned copy than it is when played back from the source file. This will happen even when the clip volume is set to the max of +6.0dB. Thanks for any help.

    Thanks.
If I play the original mts-file with Media Player Classic, the audio appears 99.9% clean. Using my headphones and 30 second test section, I could locate one barely audible "pop". PrE timeline zoom couldn't show any spikes or anything else suspicious, so I looked into this by extracting audio channels with Mediacoder to wav-file and checking how it looks at Audacity. One channel appeared to have this small step which caused the "pop". This is best described by following picture:
Then, when I export the video (or just audio to wav-file) I get dozens of these similar steps which sound like "pop". Sometimes it is just on one channel, sometimes on both channels. They appear at every 2...3 seconds or so. For comparison, this is how the "pop" looks like when exported from PrE:
Any further suggestions what might cause this increase in "popping" or how to fix it?

  • Very slow boot after installing 10.10.3

insanely slow boot after installing 10.10.3, it takes 10times longer compare to 10.10.2, using MBA 2014

Open System Preferences, select Startup Disk, and make sure your internal drive is selected as the startup disk. Then click restart!
This worked for me, personally with the same issue.

  • My fix for slow boot after Leopard Upgrade

I was having the same issue as a lot of others in posts about extremely slow boot up times after upgrading from Tiger to Leopard. I spent a lot of time on the phone with Apple Support but in the end I stumbled across a fix for my situation.
After power up and getting to the login screen (about 5-6 seconds), it would take about 3 minutes to fully populate the desktop after entering my password. Most of that time just sitting at the login screen. Extremely painful.
My MacBook connects to a Windows Active Directory network. I was able to fix my slowness by disabling the Active Directory service. I was concerned at first but my bound volumes still work. I don't use a lot of AD services from my Mac so I at this point I have not found any issue with this fix.
To disable, go to Directory Utility, select services and if you have Active Directory enabled, disable it.
My boot time increased from 3 minutes to less than 15 seconds. Better than Tiger.
Tech Support is aware of this issue and has reported it the OS team for a fix.

    Hi-
Do you have a Tiger volume to test your machine with?
Do you still have video in Tiger?
If you don't have a Tiger volume to test on, I would consider such as an important troubleshooting step
So now I am wondering if it is the PCI slot that suddenly stopped working after the OS upgrade. Does anyone know if this is a documented issue and if there is a fix for it?
There are no issues with the AGP slot in relation to an OS version.

  • Slow boot after Mavericks

    Hello guys.
Like many of Mavericks's user, I'm experiencing some problems in OS boot, such as slow boot or even a freeze, that I've never experienced before. I've read a post that someone teaching how to show errors, if there is any, by typing this code line into Terminal:
    syslog -k Sender kernel -k Message CReq 'Channel t|GPU D|I/O|find tok|n Cause: -' | tail | open -ef
After typing that this error has appeared into the TextEdit: Dec  1 20:48:50 b12058e8 kernel[0] <Debug>: disk0s2: I/O error.
Does anybody knows what it means? It indicates a possible problem in my HDD?

The disk drive may be corrupted or has failed. Backup all your files, then try this:
Install or Reinstall Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Erase the hard drive:
      1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
      2. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the
left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
      3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on
the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass. Click on
the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
      4. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • MBP retina slow booting after repartitioning and cloning OS X

I bought a Macbook Pro retina 15" (512/16GB) few days back. OS : Mountain Lion 10.8.4
I wanted to partition the SSD to have Windows 7 in Boor Camp (120 GB), then a partition with ExFAT (260 GB) for shared data between Mac and Windows and lastly Mac HD (120 GB) with Mountain Lion OS X.
After searching in the net, I got this link :http://forums.macworld.com/index.php?/topic/139815-successful-setup-os-x-lion-bo otcamp-win7-data-partition/page__st__14 and followed the steps as described the steps in pane # 21.
So to state again what I did,
    1. Used the disk utility to resize the Macintosh HD to 120 GB.
    2. Make another partition of 260 GB in the remaining space. So I now have three partition, the first with Mountain Lion, the second (260 Gb) and the third (120 GB) free.
    3. Booting with the recovery option, cloned the Mac HD from first partition to the last partition.
    4. The system was booting fine with the newly cloned Mac HD (last partition).
    5. Then again booting with the recovery option erased the first partition and formatted with ExFat to make it Bootcamp.
After these steps the system is booting fine with the cloned Mac HD bootable drive but booting is very slow. It takes a minute to show up the apple logo. How can I fix this ?
Should I do a fresh installation of OS X in partition 3 ? Please advise.
    Thanks and best regards,

I solved the problem of slow booting.
Selecting the Mac HD from the start up disk option solved the problem. There was only one option : Mac HD , so I thought it is selected by default. But after selecting it manually and restarting, now boot takes only a few secs. Thanks.

  • Slow Boot after 10.4.3 Update

    Hi,
I'm experiencing a really slow boot time after updating to 10.4.3.

  • Use Express to connect Blu-ray

I just got a Blu-ray player that can do BD-Live. The player needs an internet connection but I do not have one in that room. I would like to run an ethernet cable from the Blu-ray player to an Airport Express (802.11g) to connect the player to my wireless network. Can the Airport Express work this way? Is there a special setup? I am already using the Airport Express to wirelessly connect to the stereo in this room with AirTunes. Can it do both? Only one at a time? Only AirTunes?
    Thanks,

  • Connecting Blu-ray DVD to TV

I recently purchased a Sony HDTV and a Blu-ray DVD and the expensive HDMI connector cable.  Unfortunately, the tv only
has one HDMI outlet and it connects with the Verizon HDTV control box and it only has one HDMI outlet. So how do I connect
the Blu-ray DVD to the TV?

The correct solution is Components cables on the VZ STB use the HDMI for your blu ray .  You want to try to stay away from the HDMI switches cause issue with the Verizon STB's Trust me on that one

  • Connecting blu-ray to my imac

    hello
i have bought a blu-ray player and an HDMI to minidisplay port connector to use my 27" imac (2010 model) but i cant seem to make it work.  i dont know how to get the mac to just work as a display.
    can anyone help!!
    thanks
    tom

I thought this was one of the features in the 27" iMac. Has it been removed from recent models? At least the late 2009 could connect a video source to the mini DisplayPort and use the iMac monitor as a display for it.
Apple to date has never supported Blu-Ray capabilities. I think you are confusing the ability to use an iMac as an external monitor from a PC or other Mac. This ability is called Target Display Mode, it was available in 2009 & 2010 27" iMacs however is no longer available with the current (mid 2011) iMac line. If you still want Target Display Mode you can still purchase 2010 iMacs in Apple's refurbished store however the selection is limited and isn't available in every country.

  • Stutter after burning blu ray and during viewing in encore

i changed one effect in the project in premiere and i noticed it stutters at that spot in encore as well as after i burn it on blu ray can anyone help ?

A Cross-Dissolve is actually a Transition, and not an Effect. If you get a "stutter" with a Transition, it is very likely because you did not have adequate Handles in you Clips. The Help files will offer more info, but these will get you started:
Hope that this helps, and good luck,

  • Slow boot after updating to 10.7.2

    Hi there,
Since updating from SL to Lion, I have noticed a slower boot up than usual, but now even more so since updating to 10.7.2. Furthermore once it is at the login screen, it fails to find the bluetooth magic mouse meaning I have to switch it off and on for it to be recognized. Once the mouse connects, there are no further issues with bluetooth.
Is there a way for me to check what is being used during startup, or some way to edit the startup process?
    Mac is a 24" 2008 model, Core 2 Extreme with 4GB RAM.

    Hello:
I don't know about the "slow," but try this for the mouse problem:
Trash a preference file (com.apple.bluetooth.plist) and restart.
    Reset the PRAM and SMC
    Make the mouse a favorite

  • Slow boot after cloning

Hello everyone I have a problem of a slow boot (3-4 minutes) with my MacBook Pro and hope someone can help. Bought my first iMac 27" in December 2013 and going great. Decided to buy a 13" MacBook Pro retina with ssd in May and thought I would clone my iMac to the Pro. Before cloning Pro would boot up fast but after the clone it takes 3-4 minutes. What have I done wrong and can it be fixed?  Please.

    Hi Allan,
Thank you for your reply. I am sure what you suggest will cure my problem but at this point in time I do not feel confident in carrying out what appears to be a rather complicated procedure.
I will look into it further and after gleaning more information on the actions will give it a try.
Will let you know the outcome when it is done.

  • No video signal when connecting Blu Ray player

I have a new blu ray player and HDMI cable. It will play just fine when connected to little cheap TV but my large Toshiba will just show No video signal when I try  to connect it and use it. I have tried everything, read the whole manual, searched online help, called the support phone number which just directed me back to the online support. Nothing has helped.
Also when using my old DVD player with the 3 component cables, I never get any color, just black and white picture.

The TV likely has a shared video input. You need to tell it in the settings whether you're using a composite or component device. If you have a composite device connected and the TV thinks it's a component device, it'll show up in black and white. What model number is your TV? I'll tell you change the setting once I know what TV you have.
Also, to what specific port is the new Blu-ray player connected?
