Slow brand new computer
Hello I recently bought A HP all in one 23 p111 desktop . I have the comp hard wired to the innernet modeum as well and internet speed test is very fast and my wife mac is going lightning fast ! My computer is slow!!!!! moving from page to page is slow looking anything on internet is slow as well . I am quite low-tech but dontunderstand how this brand new computer works like a commadore lol. I paid good money and am very displeased , ive had it for two weeks . thank you ,

Well first go to task manager (right click on taskbar) and check how many processes are running in the background. If theres too many delete the ones you don't need as it takes up your ram.
Another thing is to get a program like AVG Tuneup to try make the computer more faster as there might be issues but I highly doubt that.
Last thing to do is consider replacing your processor as yours is 2 .0 ghz.
I suggest going to around 2.5 ghz - 3.0 ghz or more as your computer would be super fast for a couple of years.

I have two separate iTunes libraries on two separate Computers. I need to consolidate them so I can play them on my brand new computer. How do I do this so I can play them off an External Hard Drive on my brand new computer?
Why, if it told you you have insufficient space on your computer, would it suggest making more space available on your phone?
At a guess, you have insufficient space on your phone. Installing software will typically require more space than the final size of the software, perhaps even twice or three times as much, for the installation process. You can easily dump some videos or music temporarily, and then synch them back in afterwards. -
# Question
For some reason, I can not delete bookmarks. I did one at a time, then tried 5 or 6 and it worked once then no more. I then tried 1 at a time and it worked once the no more. Why is this happening? This is a brand new computer (Win7) and FF just loaded about 3 hours ago. Do not know how the bookmarks even got in there. Some were ok, but no order and some that were never bookmarks. Looks like FF tried to import some BM's from the Virtual XP installed, but did not get it any where near right. I need to completely delete all of them and install from a saved .html file.Well, I did not see the exact problem that I was having listed in the articles, BUT the problem is solved for now.
I opened FF and the Bookmarks to Organize again. I deleted all of the folders and entries, ONE AT A TIME, AND IT WORKED. Evidently, for what ever reason, FF did not like "Batch" deletes of ANY amount greater than 1 and the HANG UP would occur.
Deleting one at a time then importing the good .html from a good file, loaded the wanted Bookmarks. Yea -
I downloaded Lion on my 4 yr old iMac. The download stalled at the last minute so I clicked "CANCEL". When it was restarted, Lion was there, with no apparent option but to go ahead and install so I assumed it was okay. Didn't transfer data from "another computer" when prompted - assumed it would transfer from that computer. It apparently cleaned out the hard drive. It looks like a brand new computer. None of my apps, programs, files, or thousands of photos. It is backed up on Time machine, but it's a sickening sight. Any idea why this happened and suggestions before restoring? Thanks.
I cannot find this 300GB "Backup" in the Finder, only in the Storage info when I check "About This Mac".
You are probably using Time Machine to backup your MacBook Pro, right? Then the additional 300 GB could be local Time Machine snapshots. Time Machine will write the hourly backups to the free space on your hard disk, if the backup drive is temporarily not connected. You do not see these local backups in the Finder, and MacOS will delete them, when you make a regular backup to Time Machine, or when you need the space for other data.

I have restarted my computer, but the information remains the same. How do I reclaim the use of the 300GB? Why is it showing up as "Backups" when it used to indicate "Photos"? Are my photos safe on the external drive?
You have tested the library on the external drive, and so your photos are save there.
The local TimeMachine snapshot probably now contains a backup of the moved library. Try, if connecting your Time Machine drive will reduce the size of your local Time Machine snapshots. -
I use to have a iTunes account with my old computer, and I have lost all my iTunes music, some purchased, some downloaded from another source. Now I'm using a brand new computer (Windows) and I have opened a NEW iTunes account, but I now I need to figure out if it is possible to recoup my music content that I originally had. I had, I believe around close to 300 songs on my account ;(......Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Now remove all your info and update the old AppleiD/iTunes account and use only that account.
You cannot transfer items between iTunes accounts.
You can redownload all the content. -
Brand new computer with Windows 8.1 will not sync to iPod Classic 120G. Windows does not recognize anything but iPod Touch? Is there a simple solution. Diagnostics have run and failed to point to a fix.
Might be worth tearing down the whole iTunes install and starting over...
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.

Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
and paste into:
C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.

Can someones can help me? My computer is brand new. I've just received it yesterday from Lenovo. Lenovo T540p with Win7Pro + i7 core + 8Gb ram. Yesterday I've completed all my update from Windows Update. I did not make any hardware install on the
computer except that I use an external USB HDD and an external logitech wireless mouse. For these two devide, I use the built-in windows driver. Nothing happens yesterday When I've used it. The problem occurs only tonight.

According to the dump file, most of BSOD code is different. However, according to one of dump file, BSOD caused by norton sys file.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Norton Internet Security\NortonData\21.3.0.12\Definitions\VirusDefs\20140904.001\EX64.SYS
According to my experience, your system crash events most probably caued by Norton application and you can try to disable or uninstall it temporarilly for test.
If BOSD problem disappeared, it should be Norton problem. If problem still exists, please provide new dump file to us.

Do you have all of your content in that computer's iTunes library ? There are some instructions on this page for syncing to a new computer : Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive
And if you have music on your device that wasn't purchased from iTunes and you don't have a copy of it on your new computer's iTunes then there are some programs listed half-way down this page which should be able to copy it back (iTunes will only copy iTunes downloads back from a device) : Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device -

I just bought a brand new laptop that was supposedly able to edit 4K video with Premiere Pro CS6. It is an Acer Aspire V15 Nitro Black Edition with the above stated stats.
I bought a laptop because I need to do editing in more than one location and was told that I was going to be able to get away without having a desktop by using this computer, yet the program continues to lag significantly.
Any suggestions???...I agree with Bill....I have the same laptop as him and upgraded the memory and drives like he did to achieve good performance. You machine has a better CPU and GPU than ours. As I have seen my laptop go over 20 GB of system memory use on certain complex timelines, I would suggest adding more memory...16GB these days is a little marginal...Bill and I have 24GB and if you can max it out at 32GB, that would be the best. Whoops....just saw your specs and it says maximum memory is 16GB in two slots only.....I'm not sure if only 16GB will hamper 4K editing or not...you can monitor memory use with "task manager" to see if it maxes out, ( make sure your memory settings are correct in PPro "preferences" ).
If you have the M.2 slot , using the XP941 would be a HUGE speed improvement. PPro needs two separate drives ,( unless using the XP941 ), to work properly in most cases. Using Crucial M550 SSDs are a good choice...they offer similar performance to the Samsung 850 Pro series at a lower price. Any single spinning hard drive will be a bottleneck with 4K...and most other footage. A 5400rpm drive makes a good paperweight, or, missile to be hurled at your TV screen !! Some newer laptops offer various storage configurations....check and see what yours are. Again, just saw someone from Acer telling a customer that your M.2 slot is limited to SATA III speed and is NOT PCI. In that case, the high speed XP 941 would be out, and you would have to use an M.2 SATA III SSD in that slot AND a second SATA III SSD, ( 2.5 inch ) in the other slot. One to be a boot drive with Windows OS and pagefile and programs....the other with all media, project files, cache files, previews,etc. You can experiment putting cache files on boot drive,or, previews, too, because of the high transfer speed of the SATA III SSDs.
Check out B&H or New Egg for deals on those SSDs, being careful to get the EXACT correct size M.2 SATA SSD for your particular slot. Your performance should increase greatly.....the single spinning slow HDD is the root of all evil !!...banish it !!
Bill is also correct about safely overclocking the GPU to achieve better performance. I use the free "MSI Afterburner" utility to overclock the memory clock to 903MHz over the native frequency, bringing the total to 2907 MHz and I tweak the core clock just a little, up 30 MHz. When exporting a complex timeline with many CUDA accelerated effects, this overclock has reduced my exporting time as much as 25%. There is NO overheating....with a different program I could probably increase the memory clock even more,but, this is good enough.
One thing to note...Eric Bowen here on the forum has shown in his testing that the newer Creative Cloud versions of PPro are much better at handling 4K than CS6, or, other previous versions. I know I experienced a noticeable improvement with the newer version on other codecs as well.

ITunes 64-bit is killing my brand new computer!
Ok ... this started about a week ago when I purchased a dvd with a free digital copy from iTunes. I was psyched and rushed home to download it onto my computer. When I tried to play it back, the video and audio did not sync. The audio would continue to run, but the video would stick and jump around. I have a brand new laptop that is less than a month old, so I know it is completely capable of running the newest iTunes ... in fact, it doesn't give me another option. I have to run the 64-bit version.
Anyway, I contacted the "support" people and after ten exchanged emails, I was given the advice to go to an Apple store and pay to have someone look at the problem. It was insinuated by the person "helping" me that it was something I had done wrong. I needed to update my Quicktime and iTunes, I needed to make sure my operating system could handle the file, I needed to turn off all of the start-up programs on my computer. I did everything they said to do and still nothing.
Now, not only will the movie not play, but purchased videos from iTunes won't play ... at all. No video, no audio, no nothing. And yes, I am also having the problem with songs skipping. I hate iTunes 64-bit and want nothing to do with it! Has anyone else encountered these problems? Has anyone fixed these problems? I really need someones' help who might actually be able to give me decent advice.

*One more observation concerning iTunes 64-bit ... I have noticed that when running the program, if I have anything else running at the same time it drastically slows down my computer, to the point where even typing in a Word document is impossible. Websites take forever to download and even iTunes doesn't respond properly; album artwork not showing up, taking forever to respond to simple commands such as pause, and even not closing properly.

Slow brand new Macbook pro- almost all ram being used up!
I just purchased my first mac a few weeks ago- a 13 inch macbook pro running snow leopard. I have been experiencing surprisingly slow performance- computers older than mine or others of the same model quickly multitask while I frequently sit watching the pinwheel spin. This problem seems especially evident when browsing. When using firefox or safari, when several tabs are open scrolling through pages is slow/delayed and opening new tabs freezes the computer for several seconds.
This occurs with only a couple of other programs open- maybe only itunes and ical for example. Meanwhile older and equivalent computers appear able to run even more programs simultaneously without such slow performance.
Using the Activity Monitor- it appears that 1.9 of my 2 gigs of ram are being used up. This seems unusual to me as not much is running. I still have 70 gigs of hard drive space available and have been keeping up with software updates. CPU is 89% free/idle.
Any suggestions or explanations for a new mac user? This new computer is rivaling my old PC running winodws xp in how slow it can run.
ThanksThe same thing happened to me when I upgraded my older Mac Pro to 10.6. It turned out one process, #112 "coreaudiod," was using almost 100% of the CPU time. Use Apple's "Activity Monitor" in your Utilities folder to find out if you have a process using up the CPU.
In my case, I deleted "com.apple.audio.coreaudiod.plist" from the launchdaemons folder in the system library, restarted the computer, and that solved the problem.

Unable to install itunes 9 on brand new computer
Hello I have a brand new compter and I'm trying to install itunes. Each time I get the following message: "This application could not be open. Verify the package exists and that you have access to it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer Package"
I have read some post with similar problems and I have installed the Windows Install Clean Up - however there is aren't Apple applications on my computer so there is nothing for the Install to Clean up.
Can you please assist me with loading either itunes 9 or an older version of itunes. I have Windows XP

Hmmm. The installer packages may be getting damaged during the download with that message.

HELP - Brand new computer build - stuck in FF - NO BIOS

I have put together my very first PC build computer with ALL brand new hardware components. I'm newbie when it comes to putting a whole build together. I believe have connected all the necessary hardware components needed to the my new MSI 790FX-G70 motherboard and PSU (Ultra 750W). When a start up the machine I have power and motherboard and all fans worked. However, I'm not able to see the BIOS on the monitor. Nothing actually is shown just blinking monitor green light on my Samsung 17 inch. The motherboard reads only reads "FF" then in a few seconds the "FF" disappears for 1 second and the "HDD_LED" red light to flashs on the motherboard - this cycle just continues over and over.
So then I disconnected everything except for the motherboard, CPU, Graphics card, 8GB memory (along with the monitor, mouse & keyboard) Still getting same results - NO BIOS display - motherboard shows "FF" and then revs causing "FF" to disappear and the "HDD_LED" red light to flash on the motherboard.
Keep in mind, I have brand new components and no drivers or OS has been installed yet. What can be checked to ensure proper installation - even thought I followed the guide correctly. Is there anything that can be reset safely. I tried the reset button and nothing seemed to happen. I also swapped out the graphics card and tried again still no dice. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thx.

I can't get any further than this now. Any Suggestions???
Regarding the ram I'm using - I found several people using the same ram Gskill ran with their AMD Phemon II 955 without issues.
