Slow Burn Speed Since Updating to 5.0.1

Has anyone else noticed a weird change in burning speeds since updating to 5.0.1? It seems to have doubled the length of time that it takes for an nour long CD to burn (around 6 minutes).

I have just wasted eight CD's trying to burn a compilation. A message keeps coming up "Burn speed is too fast for the device or the media" and that I need to get into iTunes Preferences to adsjust the speed setting of burning. I've gone from52X down to 4X and APPARENTLY Mit's still too fast! This never happened before I updated to 5.0.1. I have no idea what's going on.

Very slow sync speeds since update to iTunes 7.4.1

I have two ATVs on a 802.11n 5 GHz network. At some point recently, I suspect the upgrade of iTunes to 7.4.1, both ATVs started to sync extremely slowly. For example, a photo takes almost a minute. Activity Monitor shows an outbound network transfer rate of around 60 kB/sec. All other devices on the wireless network are seeing normal transfer rates - around 6 MB/sec for file transfers.
I reset one of the ATVs to its factory settings and set it up again, but the problem persists. Any ideas?

Okay, just the extremely obvious, but you have tried rebooting your base stations and any and all computers attached to the network, right?
I just ask because yesterday my two AE stopped working on my otherwise reliable (and working) wireless network. Everything else was working just fine, but only by rebooting everything (turning it all off and on again) was I able to get the AEs to see the network again. I know -- I'm sure you've already done this a couple dozen times but it never hurts to ask.

To all that have been experiencing difficulties burning music since updating to iTunes6:
After reviewing this discussion board it seems obvious to me -I am not a technician but nonetheless- that the problems that we are experiencing are due to some kind of incompatibility between our PCs and Apple.
While some here have been very helpful in trying to resolve these issues, I find it disgusting that Apple does nothing. Itunes customer support do nothing. We are left to fend for ourselves, frustrated by the amount of money we have invested in building up our music collections in order fot them to be held hostage because Apple and/or iTunes will not address the issue.
Did anybody bother reading the software license upon updateing to the earliest version? Is it too early to talk of "class action" suits?
It seems logical to me that we will be heard better by Apple if we speak as a collective and not individuals. Maybe that way we could put more pressure on them to either fix what needs to be fixed or refund the money we have invested in iTunes.
As for me, iTunes has already lost me as a client. I won't download any more music because there is nothing I can do with it. That doesn't seem to matter to them. I suppose this is what happens when you get too big for your own britches!
Any ideas on how we can take down the bully????

Lost data from iTunes on upgrade? See Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash.
Restored an older backup to the device? If you're lucky your most recent photos may be in your Photo Steam.
Otherwise you may need to paint a fuller picture of the problem...

Slow burning speed using k3b

k3b only burns CDs at 8x (its my only option in burn speed). The device and the media supports 52x. Anyone knows whats the problem?

Having the same problem, since 7.7 and now 8. Have my library on an external hard drive and used to not have any problems. Took average of 5-6 minutes a CD, now 18 to 19 minutes. Could it be because of a problem with USB and my external? Seems like USB is causing a lot of problems in 8.

Slow boot time since updating OS 6 minutes aprox

I've owned my Macbook Pro since new and it came factory installed with OSX 10.4
I decided to update to Leopard and used the 10.5.6 disc formatted the hard drive fresh and after installing boot time was around 6 minutes. I tried everything, updating OS, reseting pram all sorts but still slow boot up.
Then i thought maybe updating to Snow Leopard may resolve this issue but unfortunately still the same problem 6 minutes to boot!
I don't know a lot about the console but i rebooted at 20.12 pm and here is the report:

The concern of which 10.5.6 disc is quite good. While 10.5.6 was available retail, using a 10.5.6 from another Mac model could cause problems with installation.
And installing Snow Leopard over such an installation unless erase and installed would not solve any problems. If you install 10.5.6 over 10.4, you must use
the 10.5 disc that looks like * and does not say update or dropin on it. Similarly if you erase and install 10.6 on
a machine that came with 10.5.8 or earlier, you must use this disc * that does not say Update or DropIn on it, unless it was
released during the up-to-date program period in the couple weeks before August 28, 2009.

Slow burning speed

I have a new i7 pc and win 7 64bit, 32GB RAM. I have the latest iTunes, but this probblem was true with at least the previous version if not more.
Preparing a playlist to burn takes about ten minutes or more. Once burning starts the speed seemms normal. I see other people have posted this but I can't find any reasonable answer. Burn is set to max speed, and as I said, all my gear is new and very fast.

MSI Z87-GD65 System. Slower Download speeds since upgrade.

I've recently upgraded my PC to an MSI Z87-GD65/i5-4670K based system from an Core 2 Quad, Win 7 64x setup.
I use Usenet frequently and since upgrading i seem to have lost around 1000KB/s in download speed when maxing out my line.
Before, i used to get around 9140KB/s max download using the onboard lan port on a Gigabyte P45 based motherboard. Port on old board was a Realtek 8111C Gigabyte chip.
Now i get around 8200KB/s max download using the onboard lan port on my MSI Z87-GD65 motherboard which is the Killer E2205 chip.
I'm using the latest Lan drivers for my chip and have tried older ones but come up with the same result.
Is there an obvious reason behind this speed loss? What i'm wondering is does Windows 8.1 constantly use the network to keep the app tiles updated and if so would it account for 1000KB/s of missing speed. If so, is there a way of stopping it using the network when I'm downloading stuff?
I don't think the speed difference is due to the different chipsets because i get the same speeds using various speed tests that i did before. Also i know its not a massive amount of speed loss (it's equivalent to 8Mbps) but its annoying me.

I have no Wifi card or software installed so i'm just using the onboard ethernet.
Current download speeds shown in Speedtest.net is 74 Down 19 Up, however the Usenet speed i'm getting is around 64 Down (8200KB/s). Difference of 10Mbps. Ive checked settings on the Usenet provider side and they are correct.

VERY slow wireless speeds since Infinity 2 upgrade

I don't know whether it is just coincidence or not but ever since BT upgraded my Infinity Unlimited to Infinity 2, the wireless speeds on my home network have been ridiculously slow. With a wired connection I get about 55-65 Mbps download and 10-15Mbps upload typically, while on wireless it's a fraction of that. For instance, the last test I did gave 3.33Mbps download and 0.13Mbps upload! I have tried different routers, tried changing the wireless channels, tried turning off other wireless equipment in the house, all to no avail. The strange thing is, the wireless signal strength is showing good to excellent. The speeds I obtained when Infinity was first installed were typically around 20Mbps download and 7-8Mbps upload.
I have contacted BT India and they said they were going to run some tests today, but I can't imagine how they are going to diagnose this problem remotely. Has anyone any ideas about what could be causing this and how I can go about finding a solution?

I am rather hoping that an engineer will be able to confirm whether or not the wireless signal is being degraded by interference and if so, what might be the cause and/or the general direction it is coming from. I have carried out all the tests I can do on my own, such as changing channels, routers, etc and turning off any other electronic devices in my home that emit radio signals, but nothing has made a jot of difference. All I know is that until a couple of months or so I had a great wireless signal, but now I do not. I can't find the cause without the help of an expert (i.e., BT engineer) coming to check what is going on. If BT are only interested in providing a good signal by ethernet cable, then they shouldn't be adverting on the TV how great their HH3 is at distributing a wireless signal around the home if it only works like that some of the time or for some people.

Slow boot up since updating OSX

I have recently downloaded and installed the latest bug fixes etc for OSX Tiger but since doing so my iBook is booting really slowly.
It takes around a minute to move from the grey Apple screen to the login screen.
Is this normal?

If a repair permissions and the combined update do not speed shut down for you, though shut does complete, these other factors may coming into play:
1. Incomplete print jobs. Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Print and Fax -> Printing -> Print Queue.
2. Background applications which run in Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Accounts -> Login Items.
3. Peripherals which need dismounting such as hard drives, optical drives, and flash drives.
The fact that it is happening at startup suggests, it could also be a networking issue, since that's one of the first things that startup does, is try to hook you up to whatever network you are connected to.
This is not a particular problem to the update, since I boot and shut down 10.4.3 without any speed issues to speak of. Rather it looks like something is a contributing factor which needs to be isolated.

Slow ADSL speed since power failure during trainin...

When our BT total broadband was installed, we had a power failure during the 10 day training period (back in June).
At the start of the training period, we had a speed of 3936 kbps downstream:

Slow LTE speeds after update to ios 8.1

I have a iphone 5s on T-Mobile with unlimites LTE and I updated from 8.0.2 to 8.1 and now i have HORRIBLE! Lte speeds. And its every where i go i tried reseting the network settings i even reset the phone like new and nothing. I tried to downgrade back to ios 8.0.2 but apple closed the signing window so now im stuck on this ****** ios version. Who knows hiw long till another update if anyone knows how to downgrade or a way around this email me [email protected]

You need to be patient. There is no need to post again within minutes of the first post. Try force closing the App Store app and then reset the iPad.
In order to close apps, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Next, reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

Slow infinity speed since install.

Out of interest could people post there distance from cab VS. speed.
I had infinity option 2 installed about 3 weeks ago now. When the original open reach engineer installed the service he said that there was something not right with it, I was getting download speeds of 8 mb. He conducted internal house wiring and also tested the drop wire to the dp, same speed.
Long story short another openreach engineer has come out today and informed me that 8mb is the correct speed and that i wouldn't achieve any more. He didnt test the speed at the pole so I have asked them to do this to see what comes back but I would be interested to know what other people are getting at around 900-1000m from the cab.
i was orginally quoted 16.1mb i find it had to believe that half is correct...

We're about 800m from the cabinet (I'd originally thought we were nearer to around 300-400m but google maps proved me wrong!)
I've just upgraded to Infinity 2 today and our download speeds have increased from around 37.5 Mbps to 42.5 Mbps.
I guess it all depends on the route the cable takes and the quality of the copper (our house is about 11 years old and so I'm guessing the BT lines are about the same age), but I would have thought you could achieve more than 8Mbps if we're getting over 40Mbps being only slightly closer to the cabinet than you.

Im trying to burn some cds, but k3b and brasero only burns at 8x. The device can burn using 52x. This problem also happens when i try to burn dvds.

Imagine, 12 hours to install Logic Studio (60GB of stuff) on my iMac while it takes half the time on my older MacBook Pro.

Extremely slow turning on since update (10.7.2)

each time I turn the Mac on, it first complete an installation bar, then asks for password (it never did before) and then it´s finally on (after 5 or 6 minutes). it´s now slower than my PC!!!! :-(
I have a Mac mini 2.4Ghz core Duo with 8GB ram. it can´t be this slow!
any suggestions?
