SLOW Calendar & PRE in general.

I've been looking online for help for this.
My Pre in general is very slow. Slow to bring up contacts, in general SLOW!!
Specifically though my Calendar is so slow to bring up todays events and meetings and very slow in going to next week. It sometimes take minutes to display.
The battery life is also very poor.
I've tried to use the Chat option to get help but that doesn't seem to work for me. =(
Very unhappy and stressed with this phone!
Thanks,
Sean

My problem used to be: Professional User, 5 gmail calendars, among others 750+ client birthday reminders -> after move from Treo 680 to Palm Pre: Calendar not usable (speed; better: complete lack thereof). Claimed DOA twice w/ vendor. Palm Chat could not resolve issue.
Solution: Limited the # of repeats from "no end" to 2014 for all repeating calendar entries. Tried and tested over a number of brand new Palm Pre's.
Test: If the outlook calendar file (exported as a .csv) is smaller than 850k, than the Palm Pre Calendar is at least in the vicinity of the Treo 680's speed.
I keep wondering as to why Palm's software developer never ran across that issue.

  • 3G iOS4 resulting in sluggish performance and horribly slow calendar

I "upgraded" my iPhone 3G using the restore method which in itself was trouble free.
However, the whole UI is now sluggish and even worse, the Calendar app is PAINFULLY stilted. My MobileMe calendars are visible, but the screen freezes, after a pause (5-10 seconds); the calendars disappear! Then after another pause (10 seconds or so), they reappear!
Generally, the whole phone feels laggy with button presses seemingly not responding and then the OS playing catchup.
Anyone else had Calendar slow-down/pauses happen?
    Greg

I am having the same issue. Subscribed calendars seem to be the major issue. I have 5 or 6 subscribed calendars that when I uncheck in the Calendar settings on the iphone to not show, the calendar app is much more responsive. Now when I open the Calendar the events show then reappear in a second or two but the app does not lock up as it did with subscribed calendars showing.

  • Very slow calendar sync with Outlook 2010 users.

    Hi guys.
My company is running Office 365 with hosted Exchange. Most clients are using Outlook 2010 and are reporting that when trying to access shared calendars, all operations are incredibly slow and can take up to a few minutes to show any calendar items. I'm one
of the only users on Outlook 2013 and the Outlook 2013 users don't seem to experience as much of an issue, but it is still there. Is there a way I can look into this to fix it?
Having the calendar shared all over again doesn't seem to fix. It's been suggested that I should run the O365 setup from OWA again - is there any ground to this?
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi,
Please follow the troubleshooting steps below on this issue:
    1. Disable the firewall and anti-virus program to test again.
    2. We may suspect there’s a 3rd-party add-ins that may be the possible reason, let's run Outlook in Safe Mode, to determine if it is 3rd-party add-ins related.
Press Win + R and type “outlook.exe /safe” in the blank box, then press Enter.
If there’s no problem in Safe Mode, disable the suspicious add-ins to verify which add-ins caused this issue.
    3. Go to File tab -> Account Settings ->
Account Settings -> Double clicking on the account name ->
More Settings -> Advanced tab ->
Download shared folders, tick or untick the checkbox to check the result.
    4. If the steps above don't help, simply create a new profile to setup the account:

  • !!!SLOW CALENDAR ON 8530 AFTER UPDATE TO 5.0.0.734!!!

    Hello everyone,
I was looking through this forum, and I didn't come across anyone mentioning anything about this, so I'm hoping that I'm just doing something wrong...
I recently updated my Berry's OS to 5.0.0.734, and ever since I have done that, my calendar is just unusable. When I click the icon to get into the calendar, it just hangs for about 10-20 seconds (depending on what's all open)and doesn't let me do anything, not even exit out... Total hang... and then once it does get into the calendar, it hangs again before it lets me scroll to enter an appointment. Altogether, it probably will take me 20-30 seconds to get to the point where I can start typing the actual appointment details.
What did I do?? Is there any cure? Do I have to roll-back??? I've never had to roll-back a Berry before, is that something simple? This really sucks!
Please PIN me or just add me to BB Messenger - PIN:XXXXXXXX
    Please help!!
    Thanks for your time...

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Problem solved...
I downgraded to the previous version of the BlackBerry OS (OS: 5.0.0.508) and all of my pains have disappeared. I just couldn'y live without a responsive phone...
For whatever reason, the recent software upgrade failed miserably, or is miserable to begin with. I recommend keeping 5.0.0.508, and not going to 5.0.0.734.
Anyway, I was able to restore my never ending recurrances in my Calendar and it's up as soon as I click the calendar app icon on the home screen.
Bifocals, I really appreciate the time you took, but two days was long enough for me without a decent phone... now I'm a proud and happy BlackBerry Curve owner again.
Hope we can chat again down the road... just not about Calendars being slow... hehehe.
    Sincerely,
    ~Tom

  • Mail slow with ios 6, and iOS 6 very slow and sticky in general

Ok, since I upgraded to iOS 6, my mail has been totally buggy on my iPad (version 3). It keeps sticking and showing the spinning icon when trying to download mail. I do a hard reset, and it works for a little while most of the time, but then sticks again. For what it is worth, my mail downloads from an exchange server. My iPhones (the 4 that I have from before getting the 5, as wells as the 5) do mail fine.
In general iOS 6 has made my devices as slow as mud even on other matters (one of many minor examples is that it will not unlock promptly - you try to enter the numbers and nothing happens for a few seconds - no numbers, no nothing - until it unsticks). In general, it feels like I have a PC with a virus.
    Any solutions?

I feel this is part of the planned obselecence strategy.   Sell you a fantastic device and then proceed to break it by incremental and non-reversible upgrades that make your device less and less useful, until it is a pale shadow of the device you purchased.  Then stop providing upgrades for the product full stop, leaving it crippled.
The only constructive advice I can think of is to never accept an upgrade, because it seems that we are always slightly worse off afterwards then before.
Seriously; what extra useful functions has iOS6 given us over iOS5?  A few gimmicks at the expense of losing the incredibly polished and integrated YouTube and Google Maps.  And now, right on cue, scrolling of screen content is starting to judder and lag on brand new products such as iPad3.  Iphone5 will have it's turn in a few months when iOS6.1 is out.  It will be touted as a bug fix but we all know that it will be designed to simply accelerate hardware decriptude.
Apple are in for a seriously serious wake up call in the next year if they don't get thier act together.  They can't keep on treating customers like this.  The only other piece of constructive advice I can give is this; if you own any Apple shares, sell now.
    Jon.

  • WRT310N Playstation 3 Slow Download speed and general lag

Hey guys, I just recently bought the WRT310N and got both of my computers working with it. One is wired directly into the router, while the other is running off wireless. My Playstation 3 is able to connect to the router but I am getting an extremely slow connection speed.
Right now, both PC's get about 6.4-6.5 Mbps download speed while my Playstation is anywhere from 600 Kbs to 1.2 Mbps. I have plugged in my Playstation 3 directly into the modem and got a speed of 3.2 Mbps and was downloaded a demo very fast, but I do not recieve anywhere near those results when using it wireless.
Any advice? I have tried opening the ports, but that only seemed to slow it down. A couple of days ago I opened the ports specific to the game NHL 10 and for two days I was getting such a good speed in the game that it felt like I was playing offline, which was great! Then this morning, it just seemed do a complete 180. Now when I play the game I get an extreme amount of lag, and my other games like CoD4 get random lag spikes. Like, I'll be running and I get a lag spike which seems to happen fairly consistently every minute or so.
Any advice? Should I try opening the ports again or what?

I think you need to adjust the wireless settings of your Router, The wireless settings on your Router must have been setup to its default that's the reason you are receiving low signal strength on your PS3.
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...Leave Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
For Wireless Settings, please do the following : -
    Click on the Wireless tab
    - Here select manual configuration...Wireless Network mode should be mixed...
    - Provide a unique name in the Wireless Network Name (SSID) box in order to differentiate your network from your neighbours network...
    - Set the Radio Band to Standard-20MHz and change the Standard channel to 11-2.462GHz...Wireless SSID broadcast should be Enabled and then click on Save Settings...
Please make a note of Wireless Network Name (SSID) as this is the Network Identifier...
    For Wireless Security : -
Click on the Sub tab under Wireless > Wireless Security...
Change the Wireless security mode to WPA, For Encryption, select TKIP...For Passphrase input your desired WPA Key. For example , MySecretKey , This will serve as your network key whenever you connect to your wireless network. Do NOT give this key to anyone and remember the key.
NOTE : Passphrase should be more that 8 characters...
    Click on Advanced Wireless Settings
Change the Beacon Interval to 75 >>Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304, Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 >>Click on "Save Settings"...
Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect...

Some of your user files (not system files) have incorrect permissions or are locked. This procedure will unlock those files and reset their ownership, permissions, and access controls to the default. If you've intentionally set special values for those attributes, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it, but you do need to follow the instructions below.
    Back up all data.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user, and the one in question is not an administrator, then go to Step 2.
Enter the following command in the Terminal window in the same way as before (triple-click, copy, and paste):
    sudo find ~ $TMPDIR.. -exec chflags nouchg,nouappnd,noschg,nosappnd {} + -exec chown $UID {} + -exec chmod +rw {} + -exec chmod -N {} + -type d -exec chmod +x {} + 2>&-
This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command may take several minutes to run, depending on how many files you have. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1, if you prefer not to take it, or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Start up in Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
              Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open. In that window, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not going to reset a password.
Select your startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button
    Select
               ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

  • Macbook Pro slow, pixellated, broken in general

My Macbook, which I bought in mid 2012, was wrking fine this past week and now it just went to ****. The screen flashes either grey or "broken tv snowstorm" depending on its mood. Here is a video of it: http://tinypic.com/player.php?v=2v8ju3c%3E&s=8#.Uz718Ba1y34
It also refuses to open certain applications like Chrome.
I cant type very well because every second or so it lags and any clicks or keys pressed in that time are invalid.
I have rebooted and everything but nothing works..
    Can someone assist me?

  • Mavericks Slow Mac Pro 4.1

Been poor since upgrade to Mavericks.  I had hope 10.9.2 would help but not the case. Browsed about and found a thing that said do a SuperDuper backup, erase boot drive, clone back.  Seemed an improvement for a short time but soon the spinning ball was back.
I noticed in another thread mention of the backup battery - mine is the original (October 2009).
Most of the spinning ball activity is with Apple basic programs:
Mail:  Very slow to open a Reply or Forward, also seems unable to do anything when a message is being Sent.
Safari:  I have a lag with my Oceanic (TW) cable so some might be that BUT:  Close a tab and get the ball, swipe back with the trackpad and get the ball.
Text Edit:  Random times, no real specific cause.
Cocktail:  Now noticeably slower to Open.
General:  Seems slower to change from one program to another.  Also, occasional spinning ball for no apparent reason.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.
    Mac Pro 4.1, NVIDIA GT 120, 12GB, 10.9.3 boot drive WD WD3000HLHX
Upgraded from 10.8 to Mavericks.  Mountain Lion worked nicely.
    Running through your helpful list:
Don't see why but would my old GT 120 contribute?  I read something about the OS using the GPU for a little help.  I don't game and only have 1 24" 1080p ViewSonic monitor so doesn't seem I would be taxing the video card.  Might Mavericks be looking for help my GT 120 cannot provide?
Boot Drive - The Velociraptor is overkill on a 3GHz bus and the OSX partition is only about 25% used.  Doesn't seem that would be a problem.
I found the  Slow Mac After Mavericks   before the original post here.
I did item 1: using SuperDuper - no change.
I sort of did item 2: but only a regular "Fastest" erase and only the OSX partition.  Mavericks does not have the old number of passes secure erase.  I assume going to "most secure" would do the additional passes.  I did do a new install Mavericks on another disc with import from my original boot drive.  This could drag in extra stuff but I really don't have much loaded on my computer.  I then did a SuperDuper of OSX back to the boot drive.  If you think a most secure erase and a clean install would help, it can be done.  Windows 7 has had many updates since my purchase January 2011 so it is reinstalling Windoze I would really like to avoid.
Did item 3: and have used Combo for update to 10.9.3.
Item 5: applies and no way to get around that.
The applicable link in the spinning beach ball (temporarily, but frequently) does not seem to be it.  Activity Monitor seems to think I have no need for this much computer because most of its capability is idle.  HandBrake is the only time it even breaks a sweat.  The one app I never see it in is SuperCard mentioned by the OP.  The problems do not seem different with SuperCard running or not.
I do thank you both for your responses.  Unfortunately, it is likely Apple wants to help me decide to buy a new computer.  I have been getting a new Mac every four years since 1985 so it is time.  If they had not gone to that wastebasket with no optical or hard drive bays, I'd have done it.  If I buy new, it will be a Mini and all the associated junk.  Where is the expandable desktop Mac in the Apple lineup?

  • ICal 4.04 won't update upgraded MobilMe calendar

Driving me crazy and the help topics just send you into an infinite loop without answering questions.
I am on iCal 4.04 and have upgraded to the latest MobilMe calendar, pre-cursors I have been using for two years. Basically, MobilMe refuses to sync/update when I add items either on my iCal calendar on my Mac or on my iPhone. My main computer calendar is up to date and accurate, but MobilMe is not and neither is my iPhone (3G version running iOS4.2...still very slow too!)
Is there a way I can start from scratch, wipe the calendars off MobilMe and reinstall everything to get it working right out of the gate? Resetting the sync data in Preferences did not work either.
Help please, and thanks in advance.

I too am having the same trouble. I have been having largely trouble free synching between MacBook Pro, I mac, Iphone 3GS & iPad for past 8 weeks. Today when I upgraded to iOS 4.2 on my iPad & iPhone, my main calendar and associated notes have stopped syncing. In addition I have up to 12 copies of some previous calendar items, of which only one is correct & the others in complete (template) versions of the events. This is driving me mad.
Can anyone help get this back on track??

  • JSP too slow ?

I have a page to display a calendar in the JSP page.
It basically create a Gregorian Calendar object and uses that to loop and create a calendar, so users can click on a day to create an event and also list events.
I'm finding that it's sort of slow.
I am also not advanced at java, so some advanced topics like the tags are very confusing to me.
The calendar is written into the JSP page itself but to find an event/create new events is using JavaBeans.
The code to create the calendar isn't very long (actually taken from a Java book - Core Java). But could that be causing it to run slow? Or could it be the server that I am hosting it on?
Is there a way to tell which one it is?

the more code, the slower it'll be, generally. You could print out the time at certain points (start, end and some places in between) to see what is the part taking so long.

  • CALENDAR....An udate, already? PLEASE???????????

Can ANYone please tell me if the calendar will be updated soon to perform as it should have from day one? Any insiders out there? Palm or Sprint reps with ANY inside info? I am telling you.....any day now this thing is going up on ebay and an HTC Hero with my name on it is waiting for me at my local Sprint store. VERY frustrating to love almost everything about my Pre, except for the PAINfully slow calendar and the inability to customize the events with colors (not all of us do facebook, google, etc. Some of us loved our Treos!), and the inability to set custom reminder time and alerts. So..can ANYone help me to hang onto this thing just a bit longer????
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

Wish I could - but you're probably going to be waiting a LONG time...
Palm seems totally uninterested in improving the basic functionality of the Pre in several areas, calendar included. The fact that they NEVER hint at upcoming improvements - a simple gesture to pacify angry customers - never ceases to amaze me.  There is a giant cone of silence around the Web OS people at Palm.  Maddening & frustrating, yet sort of funny at the same time!
The sluggishness of the Pre has begun to bother me more than anything else.  It freaks out when you attempt to do anything quickly, especially in the phone & email apps.  Honestly, I've told about a dozen friends who want a new phone to stay away from it - I've never owned a phone that I've wanted to literally smash into a thousand pieces.
I only use it because Sprint's family plan is the most affordable for now.  I've been with them for 12 years, but when something cheaper comes along, I'm gone - all because of my frustration with this phone. I love what it promises but hate what it delivers...

  • Adding more calendars through Palm Online

I know you can do this by adding more calendars from google. But I cant seem to add more calendars to my general Palm WebOS Calendar app. My wife does not have Google. And she doesn't want to sign up. She has a pre plus and wants to be able to add more calendars and categories.
Anyway that on the Palm User login we can have an option to add more calendars to our pre/pixi's? Thanks for listening.

There is currently no option available for palm profile calendars.
You should pass this feedback along to the Palm engineering team, by adding this suggestion here

  • System freezing/running slower

I've been having some difficulties with my macbook as of late: in the past three days, chrome has frozen about 7 times and force quitting made the entire screen freeze (so all i could do was using the shut-down button). I've also noticed that the bootup is slower than usual. Generally speaking, the whole thing has been running slower and slower for a while now. i get the rainbow wheel of doom on a frequent basis. (also, my fan is quite loud and i can hear a rattling sound sometimes)

i've verified disk permissions, verified disk, did a hardware check (everything normal) and reset NVRAM/PRAM. I didn't even know any of these things existed until a few days ago, so if i'm honest i have no idea what i'm doing.
(also, with disk permissions i got "Permissions differ on “System/Library/PreferencePanes/Displays.prefPane”; should be drwxr-xr-x ; they are lrwxr-xr-x "" and "
should be drwxr-xr-x ; they are -rw-r--r-". I'm not sure whether that is important.)
if anyone could tell me what is going on / what i could do to stop my computer from being slow/crashing, i'd be immensely thankful! (it's also a new model; from january 2012)

Back up all data. Don't continue unless you're sure you can restore from a backup, even if you're unable to log in.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. To do that, unlock the preference pane using the credentials of an administrator, check the box marked Allow user to administer this computer, then reboot. You can demote the problem account back to standard status when this step has been completed.
Enter the following command in the Terminal window in the same way as before (triple-click, copy, and paste):
    { sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR.. ; sudo chown -R $UID:staff ~ $_ ; sudo chmod -R u+rwX ~ $_ ; chmod -R -N ~ $_ ; } 2> /dev/null
This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command will take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1 or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Boot into Recovery. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not  going to reset a password.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

So, a while ago I decided to get a SSD and upgrade to 4GB of RAM when I was still using Snow Leopard. Great investment, totally worth it. Well, for a while. Boot times were good at first. But they got sluggish. So of course I decided to upgrade to Mountain Lion because that would speed up my mac, right? Wrong. It takes my computer ten seconds from the time I push the power button to respond and begin booting. It takes anywhere from one to two and a half minutes to get to the login screen. On the login screen it won't respond to any input from keyboard, trackpad, or mouse for ten seconds more. When I type in my password, it's another thirty seconds to a minute before the spinning beach ball of death disappears and what should be my desktop appears. Instead I'm greeted by my desktop picture and nothing else. One to one and a half minutes later, my desktop, dock, and menu bar are all there in front of me. But we're not out of the woods yet. It takes about two or three more minutes before my computer becomes even remotely usable- if I just start clicking I'll get the beach ball of death and have to wait longer, watching my once-swift Google Chrome browser bounce endlessly up and down, never opening.
TL;DR: It takes way too long for my computer to start up given its specifications.
You might be poised at your keyboard right now, telling me to repair disk permissions, clear caches, reset PRAM and SMC, etc... but I've already done that. I have about 75GB free space on my solid state drive, so that's not an issue. I've used Onyx and CleanMyMac2 to clean up anything that could be causing the problem, and it hasn't fixed slow boot times and general sluggishness.
I've scoured the forums far and wide to find the answer that will transform my computer into the speed-demon it once was. That is why I have turned to you, dear internet, to aid me in my quest.
I'm not a digital dummy- I can follow just about any advice you give me if you're clear enough in explaining steps required. The OP in almost every thread I've visited thus far was clueless and simply needed routine maintenace or a hardware upgrade to fix the problem, and I know that can't be the issue... so what can?
(PS I did select the SSD as my startup disk after installing it)
