Slow connection, downloads stop, after reformat

I reformated my PC, which I've done many times before, but now my internet connection is really slow and whenever I try to download something, it stops during the download and gets stuck. Its not like it slows down, it just stops. I don't get an error or anything, its just that I can see it stops downloading. Also, when I try to get into an online vieo game, the game won't find any servers because it can't connect. This is with every game. It cant be that my router is too far away, because it's worked fine for about 4 years. Also, I have a macbook, which I'm on now, and it is getting great connections and is working fast. Any ideas?

For Windows Support Software: the download size is around 600MB - 1GB. Depends on your Mac Model. There are server problems but a good idea is to check from iStat menu's or something else if there is some activity.
Also, make sure that in your network settings:
Uncheck Automatic Proxy Detection
Uncheck Passive FTP Mode

when I try ro download Firefox the download stops after it asks to continue as the administater or current user. I do not remember my password so I try to continue as the current user and the program just disappears.

if you save the download of firefox to your computer and then right click and say "Run as Adminstrator" it should work...i was having the same problem and it worked for me.

My download stops after 25 %

I have tried downloading Flash player and haven't had any problem with it until now. When I am about to download the latest version it just stops after 25% and won't keep on loading. I have tried turning the computer on and off, I have closed all other programs, I have tried different networks and WIFI's and I have tried install och reinstall flash player but nothing works. Can't use my computer properly without Flash player, please help!!!!

This morning we resolved a problem that prevented Flash Player installations from completing for some of our Macintosh users.
If you encountered this problem, please delete any previously downloaded Flash Player installer and either:
1.) Download the installer again from https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer
2.) Download the stand-alone installer from http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/latest/help/install_flash_player_osx.dmg

Slow BB download speed after 16:30. Works fine in ...

I'm at wits end with BT and the service I receive. I only wish I could choose to pay a 10th of the price for the service I receive. I have tried to use the BT call centre with no avail. The words “chasing ones tail” spring to mind. Hence adding my troubles to the already growing forum.
As the performance is there during the day, this doesn’t sound like a hardware problem, but something that BT is doing on their side when the demand gets high. I can fully understand a drop in download speed, but I think a 10th of the speed is over the top.
Please can someone help??

After 16:30 the BB service starts to move at dial-up speeds, but will work fine again after 02:00 am... Yes I am that sad that I have tried to work at that time.

When downloading something from the internet, the downloading stops after a few seconds after. Then it continues a little bit agen when you pause and start it agen.

for example when im now downloading a directX update, so the download starts normaly, but after 15-30 seconds it isn't just making any progres, not eawen if you wait for a while. then I pause the downloading and continue straight after. It si downloading 15-30 seconds agen, and then it stops.

Slow connection to iPod after reset

Hi,
I have a first generation iPod shuffle with 512MB and use iTunes 7.0.2 on a PowerMac G5.
A week ago I used the reset utility to reset the shuffle. Since then I have some trouble to update the shuffle.
Adding or removing songs or podcasts takes a very long time. Today it took about 1 hour to remove 70MB of podcasts.
While updating, iTunes and sometimes even the finder are freezing.
If not connected to the mac, the shuffle works very fine, no troubles. The same is true for iTunes if no shuffle is connected. But both together a very sloooooooow.
Does anybody know what happens here?

The shuffle was plugged directly to my computer. I have tried different USB ports with the same result.
Funnily enough, it behaved as before a few days ago. But now, it's slow again. It takes a minute or more to remove one podcast from the shuffle. During this time the yellow light is flashing and iTunes is unresponsive.
As the shuffle works without problems without iTunes, I think the problem is iTunes. The slowdown began with iTunes 7.0.2 (after a reset with the reset utility).

Mountain Lion download stop after 2.15 GB.

I finaly after hundres of times (at least it felt like it) ended up with instaling Hotspot shield and let it work. I did not touch it for two days, and when almost had given upp the project, it was finaly there

Why does the Flash Player download stop after 7%

I have tried about fifty times to download the newest version of flash player but it continually stops downloading at 7% and then the window closes.

Glad to hear that! Often, a drive that has minor corruption that has gone unnoticed will melt down when a major system install writes tens of thousands of new files. That's probably what happened to you. In the future, you should always reboot in recovery mode (hold down command-R at startup) and repair the hard drive with Disk Utility prior to any system update or upgrade.
Regarding iLife, what system did your machine originally come with? If Snow Leopard or earlier, the iLife apps will be on one of the gray disks that your machine shipped with (the one labeled "Applications"). Alternately, if you bought newer versions in the App Store, simply open the App Store and click Purchases... they should show up there.
If your machine came with Lion preinstalled, you should be able to re-download iLife from the App Store. There's information on how that is done here:

Download osx after reformatting my drive

I just erased everything on my completely full hard-drive, and installing osx through disk utility menu.
my model is 2009 macbook pro unibody 15" with 2.53 GHz Core 2 Duo.
I have been waiting for about an hour now since I pushed continue button on "Download and restore Mac OS X screen" It has been showing the same "Loading Installation Information..." with a spinning circle.
Am I stuck?

you can force quit a shut down by holding the power button for an extended amount.
Restart and try again.

Flash html5 - How can i make an internal movie clip slow down and stop when it get to a certain frame?

I am creating an automotive braking system using flash and have a wheel turning. I want the wheel to slow down and stop after the brake pedal is pushed at a certain frame. I know I could do this with frame by frame animation but was hoping there was a short cut - javascript?? If not the slowing down portion then is there code for just making the internal movie clip (wheel turning) to stop when it gets to a frame.? Thanks

The only thing that worked for me was to boot in safe mode.
Power down. Then press power button and hold 'shift' key until grey screen with progress bar appears... Once booted and logged in just open safari and browse to applestore.
No trouble at all once I did this.
Reminder: create full backup before you upgrade OS
