Slow connection during the night

Okay new here but an old costumer. Well, after numerous calls to tech support and technicians coming over to my place to see the issue, nothing they can do much but to change the me from 1 router to another but theres still and on going problem in the night around 6pm-7pm i will get the speed 300-800kbps instead of 3mb that i am suppose to have. They are still resolving this issue in their central office and I know there's many people in the forum also have this issue around, have this ever been resolved or still an issue?

Hmm a few thoughts on this.
Have you secured your wireless network so that your neighbors aren't picking off free internet access at night when they are home? I would log into your router and see if you have others connected...
Is a cordless phone causing you connection issues, when you went wired your connection reappears so that makes me suspect interference of some sort.
I find our cable internet speeds can slow down at night as more neighbors are online but that doesn't sound like the problem if it clears when you go wired.

  • Slow connection during the 10-day stabilisation pe...

    Hi all
My phone line has been noisy and BT has fixed the problem by installing a new line from my property to the road.  This was 4 days ago and the phone is nice and quiet now; broadband, however is on it's knees at no better than 0.46Mbps.  (Three different test sites agree).
I have raised this 3 times with the call centre and on each occasion have been told that this is quite normal during the 10-day stabilisation period.
Why I am on a stabilisation I don't know, but I do remember that when I was first installed on BB, all those years ago, the speed I had at installation was very close to the speed I had after 10 days.  It was definitely not slow for 10 days and then popped up to 7Mbps!
Secondly, when BT Vision was installed, an engineer made some qos adjustments to my profile to ensure that Vision performed well.  Obviously today none of the streamed Vision services work.
I guess these are my questions:
Should I not worry about the woefully slow speed and just wait another 6 days, when all may be well?
Is it likely that I have been connected to new infrastructure that I should be raising a query with someone to do some qos magic re. the Vision service?
I hope someone can put my mind at rest, cos it just doesn’t seem right to me, and if I get to the end of the 10 days only to be told there is a problem (and possibly put on another 10-day stabilisation period), I won’t be best pleased.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

AS work on the line has been involved then yes it will be in a retraining period just a matter of sitting tight and letting the exchange equipment do its work

  • Really slow speeds during the daytime?

So i've been with BT for as long as i can remember (Broadband Option 3) and for as long as i remember it's never been that great. Not bad, but not great. Apparently i should be getting up to 8mbps but i was normally around 3mbps, which was never slow enough to bother complaining about. But in the last 2 weeks for some reason im getting extremely slow speeds during the day. From 1pm - 1am i've have around a 1mbps (if im lucky), and from 1am - pm i'll have 5 - 6mbps (which is faster than normal). Im really not sure what's going on, but it makes it impossible to do anything other than use text based websites during the day, which is a pain. Im about 250 metres away from my local exchance so i don't see why im getting 1mbps all day.
Also the wireless connection in my house is awful. My laptop that's 2 ft away from my router (BT Homehub 1 or maybe 1.5 im not sure) and it's getting a 2/5 bar signla strength. I could connect to my neighbours wifi and have a stronger signal. Addmitiedly the Home Hub is pretty wore down, so would getting the Home Hub 4 improve the wireless connection or the speeds problems? Is there any way to get it without paying £60? I mean i could switch to sky broadband, get a new router, and get a years worth of broadband for cheaper than that. The only thing keeping me with BT right now is BT sports, and i can't even any BPL games on that anymore since my connection is too slow when the games are on.
    Here's the current speed (9:30 PM) http://www.speedtest.net/result/3704808533.png
I'll post the updated speed at around 2am and see how much better it is. Also any other tests/information you guys might need. Thanks.

welcome to the BT community forum where customers help customers and only BT employees are the forum mods
in order for the forum members to help please can you post the adsl stats from your router you may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or if HH4/5 then go to troubleshooting then logs and you are looking for 2 line together when hub last connected to internet and they will show your connection speed and noise margin or if netgear enter 192.168.0.1). Then run  btspeedtester  (MAC users may have problems). when first test completes then run diagnostic test and post the results ( do not reset the router).
are you connected directly via a filter to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Is the master the only phone socket in your home?
Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal
Someone may then be able to offer help/assistance/suggestions to your problem

I have recently got a new replacement iPhone 4.  Since I got this I have found that my data allowance is getting used up during the night while my phone is charging on the bedside table.  How an I find out what is causing this and stop it happening?  Some nights the usage is 150 meg!

You can not access the backup directly.
Did you restore your replacement from this backup?
If so then you already have everything in the backup on your device.
If not, you can wipe the device and restore from this backup:
Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content & Settings
What is it you are worried about losing that isn't already on your current device?

  • Process orders in the weekend moving during the night in APO/PPT1

    Hello Gurus,
I have a problem on the scheduling of production orders when these orders are scheduled

  • Do not execute job during the night

    Hallo everybody!
I have a background job that runs every 10 minutes.
I don't want it to run during the night. Is it possible?
    Thank you very much indeed.

This may be helpful to you: 'At Operation mode' while giving start condition. Sap documentation says:
    Operation Mode
    Procedure
You can enter any name for the operation mode, but ensure that it is meaningful and that it makes the task of the operation mode clear.
    Examples
    Normal operation
    Night operation
You may have to  configure this operation mode in SPRO according to your requirement.
    Thanks,

  • Can you block syncing of email during the night?

Is there a setting that block syncing during the night? Some time setting that you can put in a beginning and ending time to sync every day?

Sure this works, but it isn't exactly practical. To have push e-mail daytime but not at night you'd have to remember to activate/deactivate the feature twice a day.
Wouldn't it be nice if you had a settings pane where you could specify at which times you want push and not?

    Hi,
You have moved the database to a new SQL server. What is the collation on the new server? Only SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS is supported. Please check free space in the SCOM DB's and transaction log DB.
Same issue here, please refer to this one:

  • Is it better to leave your macbook pro in sleep mode during the night or have it shutdown all night?

Is it better to leave your macbook pro in sleep mode during the night or have it shutdown all night?

During sleep, your MacBook consumes a little part of the battery, so it won't harm leaving it in sleep mode. Also, you will be able to start using it quickly, as you don't need to wait until Mac OS X turns on.
I only recommend you to turn off the MacBook if you are not going to use it for days in order to save battery, but apart from that, you don't need to turn it off

  • Keeping Stock Headphones in your ears during the night

Hi... it's been a while since I've posted, or even logged in for that matter. But anyways, I've got a question. If anyone knows what a Lucid Dream is, I had my second one in 2 weeks last night. (It's a dream in which you are aware that you are dreaming). Just read dreamviews.com. Anyway, I wanted to try this lucid remix song. It's on my iPod. But my problem is getting the earbuds to stay in my ears during the course of the night. I sleep on my back when using the earbuds, because they are painful when sleeping on your side.
Also, I'm using the stock headphones.
    Thanks.

Well I only listen at about 15% volume during the night. And the lucid dream remix song is not constant noise. It's more slowly building tension, keeping that tension, releasing the tention, and occasionally saying frases such as "You will remember to check your reality and identify that you are in a dream state."
How do I tape them? Do I tape them to my head or do I tape them together.

  • My Mac turns itself on during the night?!

I've noticed that my MBP seems to turn itself on during the night - I think around 1am. I've looked in the Energy Saver Schedule and there's nothing set up for it to come on.
I'm a little confused as to what may be causing this. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Do you have eyeTV on your Mac? This is what I've found to be the cause of my Mac turning itself on at 1am every morning.
If so, does your Mac turn itself on at a set time every day? If so, check what time that is in the Console. You'll need this so you can manually set your clock in order to test it all out.
I then decided to delete all preferences with elgato in the name in both my Mac prefs and User prefs (make sure you have your eyeTV serial number as you'll need to enter this when you next start up eyeTV.
Okay, then start up eyeTV and go through the whole process - just make sure you uncheck things that will be automatic i.e. channel listings etc.
Then quit eyeTV and set your computer clock to just around 40 seconds before it turns your Mac on and then put it to sleep - if it doesn't wake up then great - if it does then you'll need to delete the elgato prefs from just your User prefs and start up eyeTv again - go into the prefs of the program and uncheck anything that appears automatic i.e. automatically check for updates etc
Hopefully this'll work as it's worked for me - a bit of a pain but a least I no longer get woken up with the famous Mac BOOOONNNGGGG

  • Lumia 920 freezes/crashes during the night. Can't ...

I have had my Lumia for 10 days and for the second time it crashes during the night and the next morning I was not able to turn it on using the power button. I had to do a soft reset... The alarm that I set to wake me up never started... This means that I cannot trust my phone for waking me up in the morning! This is unacceptable!

There is a possible alternative to the flashing or reset suggestet by the care point.
As the problem only started recently, there is a high probability that it is caused by a bad app or setting or the combination of the two. The alternative is to reverse whatever apps you installed or settings you changed just before this problem started.
The flashing is just an easy way out because it reverts the phone back to its out of the box condition. However, you may find yourself in the same situation again should you install the same app or make the same setting changes after the flashing.
I had a similar problem with one app but I managed to isolate it and the problem disappeared after I uninstalled the app. The app was pulled subsequently and updated by the developer and is now working fine on my phone.

  • My iPhone 4S went dead during the night.

During the night my iPhone 4S went dead and the screen was black. The bottons wouldn't answer on anything, so I readed on the net that I should hold down both bottons and make a restart. This worked and the iPhone started up with 60% battery level. Why???

i got my new ipone 4s yesterday afternoon, played a little bit. then in the evening went to completely dead after i put in to my pockeckt for 10 mins. no reaction even with power plugged in. I was able to recharge it this morning (plugged in and see the charging icon).
this afternoon (the 2nd day) I sent a message and left it on the table for a few mins, did not get the msg back then relized it went dead again. my friend did a reset for me and saw the battery has 65% left..

  • My phone made random calls during the night

I plugged in my phone as always for the night to charge.  When I woke up, the screen was magnified and my daughter said I had called her numerous times during the night.  My recent calls list showed multiple calls to her cell phone, to her work, and to her by face time.  How was this possible?  Also had a draft of an email started with all random letters typed in.  What is going on and how do i fix this?

I did the hard reset as you suggested.  Last night I completely turned off my phone.  I woke up this morning and when I turned on my phone, this is what was on it:
Then I had to restart my phone to get it back up and working normal.
Starting to believe the phone is possessed!

Hey (: I have the new iPad and I want to ask what is "healthier" for the battery : turn the device off in the night or keep it on during the night ? Thank you !

    BTW, statements like
"Use the device until the battery has drained to the point of self-shutdown. Basically, use it until it turns itself off."
in articles like the one at http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/ are complete BS and if you do follow their "advice", your battery life will be severely hampered. Particularly if you also follow one of the comments: "Step One.One: Leave the device for 5+ hours before start charging. This will fully drain the battery." Well, the guy that advised the latter certanly doesn't know anyhting about lithium batteries and the damage deep discharging does to them.
Again, what the article (and the above-cited comment) advices is complete b*llsh*t and noone should really do this.
