  • RFGuns slowing down several times a day

    Hello,
RFGuns in our warehouse really slow down several times a day and start taking time. I am wondering if this is a network problem. Any ideas where to look? Thanks

Try to determin when the issue started and whether or not any changes went in when the problem started, updated security measures? new access points, switches and such? any thing related to RF connectivity has changed?
After checking with network team, they should monitor, look for network issues, check sygnal strength
    1. check with network security team, ask if they run scans durring the times you see slowness
    2. check for batch jobs that might suck system resources (financial batch jobs can slow entire sytems)
    3. check for firmware updates for the devices, some devices have known issues w/newer secure networks
    4. do server analysis to make sure enough resources are devoted to the boxes that handle the transactions
    good luck

  • Have to reboot router at least once a day otherwise it slows down

Over the last few days my internet speeds drop to a crawl at least once a day until I reboot the router. It slows down to 100kb or so. One I reboot the router it hits back to 50mb.
Is there setting in the router to fix this or do I just have a bad router?

Hard to say with certainty but if it resolves itself for the time being after every time you reset it then yeah, you should contact support and ask that they send you a replacement router.
Do be prepared to do some basic troubleshooting with them over the phone though.

  • Fast free shipping = shipping in ~5 days with a slow ground method?

I may be pleasantly surprised here, since I know ship and delivery times are conservative estimates, but I am finding it strange that the iPad I just purchased won't ship for up to 5 days and appears to be using a slow ground method that may tack 5+ days on top of that. I wasn't expecting anything better than say Tuesday 3/15, but the 18th-25th seems like a really, really long time to wait. I'd have chosen a faster method, but only Standard was available.

I am not sure what you lot are complaining about. The US online store is the same for everyone. There was plenty of notification of what the FREE option consisted of, including the delivery estimate dates. Plus there were plenty of other options from which to choose for faster delivery.
I buy three to four times a year from the Apple Store online. Tonight was identical to every other time. So anyone who says that this delivery time frame is all a surprise are being dishonest with themselves or was not paying attention.

  • FiOS Quantum installed only 2 days ago, running slow no matter what

    FiOS Plan: 50mbps/25mbps
    Actual: 15-20mbps/25-30mbps
Issue: Internet speed tests show my download rate is very, very slow while my upload rate is amazing.
I recently signed up for FiOS because I had Charter and their 30mbps plan, which was terrible (speeds were good at 30mbps, but at least once a week internet went down). I had FiOS installed on the 1st (2 days ago) and the install went great. Tech set everything up and even checked my wireless from my computer room to the area where the router is installed and it was a solid connection rate, but he didn't check the speed test (not sure if that's standard, but I didn't even think about it).
Anyhow, so he left and after browsing a few pages, I noticed that the speed was pretty good, but not a noticable difference (which I expected). I started checking out my online Netflix, Youtube and Hulu accounts, only to notice that the buffer rates were significantly slower than the Charter I had gotten rid of. I figured that it was just the sites I was using at the time and so I did a speed test from a few different places: Verizon's online test, Speakeasy, Speedtest and SpeedOf.me. All of these sites resulted in something unexpected: My download rate never, ever went above 20mbps, while my upload rate would fluxuate between 25mbps to 31mbps. I checked my work FTP for my web building host and tried to upload and download some large Access data files (400mb-8gb database table links) and saw a dramatic difference in what I had before. The average upload was much, much quicker than my old service, but my download rate was horrible. It took me approximately 22 minutes to download a ~1Gb accdb file Since I have to download large, fragmented database files from my work regularly, this severely limits my ability to work from home (which is why I signed up for FiOS in the first place).
Although I knew that the wireless was not the issue, seeing as how it made no sense why my upload rate would be rocking while my downstream was lagging bad, I tried the ethernet hardline anyway. The same result occured: 15-20mbps on the downstream, but 25-30mbps on the upstream, the same exact outcome.
I decided to try my other desktop and my laptop on the hard line, just to make sure it wasn't my current system, and the same results occured.
I returned all systems back to where they usually are and tried to reboot the router, reset to factory settings, chose a channel that nobody in my area was broadcasting on (via inSSIDer) and even tried a few other tricks, all to no avail. I reset the router again to factory and still nothing (once again using the inSSIDer to set a proper channel nobody is using from 1-11).
The thing is, before FiOS, I had everything setup exactly the same, just with a different ISP and different router. My other service worked very, very quickly on this wireless (30mbps solid) and so the problem cannot possibly be with my own hardware. I have the dual-antenna Actiontec Rev. I, and its signal is really amazing because it's stronger than the signal I got from my old Charter router (I'm getting a SOLID 54mbps rate right now thanks to Verizon's router and the fact that I have a Wireless-G adapter and not an N, which I am purchasing next week when I can).
At this point, I've tried everything. Oh, yes, forgot to mention I HAVE already used Verizon's speed optimizer tool to optimize my connection. Yes, I did shut the computer down, not just rebooting.
I'm stumped, because I'm usually very good at troubleshooting problems like this. I was sure that rebooting the router, setting to factory and having everything just plugged directly into the hardline ethernet would solve the issue (assumed my wireless was going funky) but it did not; and, if it had, wouldn't have made sense since just less than 72 hours ago everything worked flawlessly with a different provider.
    Please, any help is appreciated!
P.S. Yes, I've already tried disabling the WMM. Not sure who thought that was a good idea

  • Why does Adobe CS (1st program of the day) open really slow

    Hello,
I have a user that turn's her computer off at the end of the day, everyday.  When she comes into work the next day she will turn her computer back on.  After it boots up, she logs in and everything loads up she will usually open Indesign first, (but if she opens Photoshop first it will happen with Photoshop...It is whatever Adobe application that is opened first). Photoshop will load a little quicker than Indesign, but this problem is primarily an Indesign issue.  It has been clocked that when that Adobe Indesign is opened it will take upwards to 5 minutes to completely open.
It has been seen that while Indesign is taking that long to load...if you go ahead and open Photoshop...Photoshop will completely open and be ready to use before Indesign is finished opening.
    Here are the computer Specs:
    Asus A8V-VM Rev 1.xx Motherboard
    2.4 GHz AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3800+ w/ Socket 939
    3 GB of DDR-333MHz memory
160GB Seagate SATA HDD (registering 38 degrees Celsius)
    Windows XP Pro w/ SP3
    Adobe Creative Suite CS
    Why would this happen???
Is there a way to optimize Adobe Creative Suite so that it opens/runs/processes faster???
    Thanks,
    Bobby Howerton

What if she waits another 5 minutes? I suspect some autostart stuff is still loading in the backgrund and slowing the start down.

  • Why is itunes download so slow on apple tv (3 days now) but I can download same movie to computer instantly? What has changed?

I rented a movie via itunes on my apple tv 3 days ago. I still cannot view it on my television. I have checked all internet connections, routers, speedtests..etc and have come to the conclusion that it is simply the itunes download on apple tv. I can view netflix no problem on the same apple box.
I now have downloaded the same movie to my computer and am watching almost instantly. What is happening here? I used to rent movies on itunes via apple tv and get almost instant streaming now it's incredibly slow!

It doubful thats its your PC per se, alot of people are reporting the store being alittle on the slow side.
It won't last long, its just apple make all these changes 3-4 days ago, a week or 2 they will have it all str8.
You can overlook your network setup tho, make sure the connection isn't looping around thru ports on the router and slowing you down. I doubt thats it tho, iTUnes increased the resolution of there video, so in turn the files are bigger. This is why iTUnes now has a download manager in it so you can pause things when needed

  • Slow connection during the 10-day stabilisation pe...

    Hi all
My phone line has been noisy and BT has fixed the problem by installing a new line from my property to the road.  This was 4 days ago and the phone is nice and quiet now; broadband, however is on it's knees at no better than 0.46Mbps.  (Three different test sites agree).
I have raised this 3 times with the call centre and on each occasion have been told that this is quite normal during the 10-day stabilisation period.
Why I am on a stabilisation I don't know, but I do remember that when I was first installed on BB, all those years ago, the speed I had at installation was very close to the speed I had after 10 days.  It was definitely not slow for 10 days and then popped up to 7Mbps!
Secondly, when BT Vision was installed, an engineer made some qos adjustments to my profile to ensure that Vision performed well.  Obviously today none of the streamed Vision services work.
I guess these are my questions:
Should I not worry about the woefully slow speed and just wait another 6 days, when all may be well?
Is it likely that I have been connected to new infrastructure that I should be raising a query with someone to do some qos magic re. the Vision service?
I hope someone can put my mind at rest, cos it just doesn’t seem right to me, and if I get to the end of the 10 days only to be told there is a problem (and possibly put on another 10-day stabilisation period), I won’t be best pleased.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
    Solved!

AS work on the line has been involved then yes it will be in a retraining period just a matter of sitting tight and letting the exchange equipment do its work

  • Slow Broadband the last few days - Vision related?

My broadband has been very slow the past few days and often comes up with the homehub screen saying there's been a problem and to "Try again".
It coincides (although I'm not sure if it was maybe happening the day before as well) with me digging out my BT vision box and setting it up.
I've since unplugged the ethernet cable from the vision box but it's made no difference, still very slow.
The broadband used to be connected at about 7.2mbps, now it's a 10th of that!
Anyone got any ideas? I've done the quiet line test which sounds fine. Haven't changed any of the connections from what it's always been

  • 10 day wait with slow ADSL...

We had a line fault on the 21st December which took until last Friday 4th Jan to sort out.  The audio phone line didn't work at all but the ADSL did albeit very very slowly.
Now the phone line is fixed but the ADSL is now stuck giving these stats pasted below - higher upload speed than download how about that!
Having put all the router back in its proper place this evening (I'd moved it when the fault started) and reading about slow ADSL on here I guess I have to wait another 10 days before it either improves or I can then try to get help from BT?  That'll be just about a month without any very useful usable broadband other than email or slowly browsing the web.  Is is worth asking BT to manually reset all the line at all?
    Thanks for any pointers.

The line fault condition and associated interventions by BTo have driven the DSL into a banded profile.
It's an automatic "normal" defensive failsafe situation.
Frankly, if the line and BB is a new setup, I'd email in to the moderators, ask them to reset the connection totally.
In which case it would need to undergo line training again for a 10 day period, and UNIMPEDED.
During that time, the router or hub will restart sometimes of its own valition as differing types of modulation are tried.
(Because it is a new connection it won't have any meaningful line connection history which is benefitial for future use
as the interventions and problems will have stopped it accumulating any.)
    ... thus a total reset.

  • Very slow at same time every day

Normally, my Toshiba Satellite C655D-S5300 works just fine, but at 8:00 every night the whole computer (not just the internet) gets very, very slow. Obviously, there's something that is scheduled to download updates every day at that time. I have Windows and all my non-Toshiba programs set to check for, download, and install updates only manually, so the program that is screwing everything up must be one of the bloatware programs installed by Toshiba. The problem is, I don't know which one or if and how to change the schedule. I have tried going to Task Manager when this happens, but once I finally get it to open, I can only get a quick glimpse of the list of running programs getting shorter by one item. Any suggestions?

If everything slows down, it's more likely a program is scheduled to run. Windows and Toshiba have lots of programs like that in Task Scheduler (taskschd.msc),
When things are slow, open Task Manager (taskmgr.exe - press Ctrl+Shift+Esc). On the Processes tab, click the CPU column title to sort high usage to the top. Tell us which process is hogging things.

  • Extremely slow and high latency all day.

DSL is running extremely slow during peak hours from 12 afternoon to 12 midnight.   Lower than 50% of rated speed and high latency
I have been frustrated with this DSL Service for months now.  I am considering contacting BBB to file a complaint and I am tired of dealing with customer service giving me the run around.  Internet is a monopoly in my area therefore verizon feels it doesn't have to do anything to keep its customers when they provide crappy service.  I am on waitlist for another internet service provider and it is going to take almost a year because of how bad the internet options are in the area and demand for better options.    I even had to pay over 100 dollars to get a truck roll come to my house to fix any issues within the house and the internet has not gotten better.  Atleast I feel I should get a refund or something.
Here is my speedtest result just now.  http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/2899553407
It has been even slower at other times. http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/2893509440

Here is what ICSI Netalyzer Results have stated.
Network Access Link Properties + –
    Network performance (?): Latency: 580 ms, Loss: 15.5% –
The round-trip time (RTT) between your computer and our server is 580 ms, which is somewhat high. This may be due to a variety of factors, including distance between your computer and our server, a slow network link, or other network traffic.
We recorded a packet loss of 16%. This loss is very significant and will lead to serious performance problems. It could be due either to very high load on our servers due to a large number of visitors, or problems in your network. Of the packet loss, at least 14.0% of the packets appear to have been lost on the path from your computer to our servers.
    TCP connection setup latency (?): 720ms –
The time it takes for your computer to set up a TCP connection with our server is 720 ms, which is quite high. This may be due to a variety of factors, including a significant distance between your computer and our server, a particularly slow or poor network link, or problems in your network.
Background measurement of network health (?): 3 transient outages, longest: 0.8 seconds –
During most of Netalyzr's execution, the client continuously measures the state of the network in the background, looking for short outages. During testing, the client observed 3 such outages. The longest outage lasted for 0.8 seconds. This suggests a general problem with the network where connectivity is intermittent. This loss might also cause some of Netalyzr's other tests to produce incorrect results.
    Network bandwidth (?): Upload 700 Kbit/s, Download 2.3 Mbit/s +
Network buffer measurements (?): Uplink 5400 ms, Downlink 1200 ms –
We estimate your uplink as having 5400 ms of buffering. This is quite high, and you may experience substantial disruption to your network performance when performing interactive tasks such as web-surfing while simultaneously conducting large uploads. With such a buffer, real-time applications such as games or audio chat can work quite poorly when conducting large uploads at the same time.
We estimate your downlink as having 1200 ms of buffering. This is quite high, and you may experience substantial disruption to your network performance when performing interactive tasks such as web-surfing while simultaneously conducting large downloads. With such a buffer, real-time applications such as games or audio chat can work quite poorly when conducting large downloads at the same time.

Your ISP's DNS server returns IP addresses even for domain names which should not resolve. Instead of an error, the DNS server returns an address of 199.101.28.20, which resolves to search.dnsassist.verizon.net. You can inspect the resulting HTML content here.
There are several possible explanations for this behavior. The most likely cause is that the ISP is attempting to profit from customer's typos by presenting advertisements in response to bad requests, but it could also be due to an error or misconfiguration in the DNS server.
The big problem with this behavior is that it can potentially break any network application which relies on DNS properly returning an error when a name does not exist.
The following lists your DNS server's behavior in more detail.
Please help.  I am so frustrated I literally have fights with my family over internet problems.  I am right now looking for other options and even starting to think about paying over 100 a month for dedicated line or T1 if they can service my area.

Not a single response from Verizon on this? And after you posted the tests & information they will need? I think I may have to make a service choice soon. Its bad enough Verizon can't post a simple email address for our support, they have removed Usenet access, removed access to our websites (I use HTML so their sitebuilder is useless)... Sheeshe...

  • Very slow internet over past few days

    Hello
My internet has been fast and stable for a number of years, until Wednesday morning that is. I usually get about 13Mbps downstream and 900kbps upstream, but now it hovers around the 200k-350k mark downstream and 400-550k upstream.
I'm connected to the main socket, which in old style socket with the slot in the middle of the faceplate. I've tried multiple routers, including a new one, and wired/wireless: the results are the same. I've also tried a new filter. There's nothing else connected (and I have no Sky box).
The results of my tests are as follows:
    Line state Connected
    Connection time 0 days, 21:56:12
    Downstream 18,002 Kbps
    Upstream 828 Kbps
    ADSL settings
    VPI/VCI 0/38
    Type PPPoA
    Modulation ITU-T G.992.5
    Latency type Interleaved
    Noise margin (Down/Up) 3.5 dB / 7.2 dB
    Line attenuation (Down/Up) 22.0 dB / 10.9 dB
    Output power (Down/Up) 21.1 dBm / 12.4 dBm
    Loss of Framing (Local) 0
    Loss of Signal (Local) 0
    Loss of Power (Local) 0
    FEC Errors (Down/Up) 64755648 / 8
    CRC Errors (Down/Up) 880 / N/A
    HEC Errors (Down/Up) N/A / 38162
    Error Seconds (Local) 465

    1. Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
    Download Speed
    0.33 Mbps
    0 Mbps 21 Mbps
    Max Achievable Speed
Download speedachieved during the test was - 0.33 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 4 Mbps-21 Mbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 15.88 Mbps
    2. Upstream Test: -provides background information.
    Upload Speed
    0.47 Mbps
    0 Mbps 0.83 Mbps
    Max Achievable Speed
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 0.47Mbps
    Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 0.83 Mbps
This test was not conclusive and further testing is required. This might be useful for your Broadband Service Provider to investigate the fault.
My exchange does not report any errors at all. I conducted an external inspection of my nearest cabinet and all seems OK. I did a quiet line test and can hear no noise on the line.
I hope I've covered everything! Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Best wishes, -Jon

    Thanks.

  • Macbook Pro 13'' slow video downloading from some days ago: why?

From some days ago my Macbook Pro 13'' download video clip very slowly. Someone helps me.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then take an action that isn't working the way you expect. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
