Slow DOCUMENT after upgrading & 8209 when saving docs

I'm having problems after upgrading to OES + GW2012
I'm getting bad Vibes from NTS... no punn indented !
Here is my situation:
Upgraded to added a OES Server to Existing Tree
Copied data from Netware server after checking
Upgraded Groupwise - domain and PO only
setting paths, IP, Access right to external library folders
everything works BUT... DMS issues
only some docs open or able to view - (access seems slow - view on Netware is instant - on oes / gw2012 SLOW...)
hardware is QuadCore Xeon, 8Gb RAM, Adaptac SAS Controller with 15K RPM SAS drives
Original NW Server is 7200rpm SCSI, 4Gb Ram, DualCore Xeon
(although for the trial upgrade I mirrored onto IDE and speed is just as good!)
as I said some docs don't open
those I can open - I get a 8209 error when saving
I happen to mention to (NTS the procedure is almost the same as I have done before on small system
this was simply EXT3 based system & the Lib was under PO...
NTS suggested the recommended location for DOCS is under the PO - this is contrary to the Novell docs as External is recommended
NTS Suggested NSS could be issue with regards to speed !!
Anyone using EXTERNAL Storage locations (on the same Linux OES server ?)
NSS for storage ?
6 Trial runs and same behavior (Process is similar to Novell docs / Caledonia book)
any issues on upgrading !
I'm pulling my hair out

I get 8209 when the GW Client doesn't not have the "Save and Check out"
File Location set to a valid path (Tools / Option / Environment / File
Locations)
Hope this helps

  • Pages on my iPad3 has become very slow to open documents after upgrading to ios7. I've clicked on a folder 5 minutes ago and am still waiting. The work-around seems to be to force-close it, but I've needed to do this many times in the last few days.

Pages on my iPad3 has become very slow to open documents after upgrading to ios7.
I posted on here about this a few weeks back and someone suggested force-closing Pages -- and that does indeed enable me to open things -- but I have had to force-close many times in the last 24 hours, which is worrying. Are there any other suggestions?
I am sometimes also finding that, when I have been writing something and then click on "documents" the screen goes blank, there is a wait of around a minute and then the same document is re-displayed, before clicking "documents" again lets me look at other documents -- which is a pain if I am trying to move between documents repeatedly. Again, words of wisdom on this would be great.
Pages under iOS6 opened quickly, and there was an immediate loss of performance when I upgraded. I am finding this very frustrating because I don't feel that the new Pages has added to the facilities I was using, but a slowness to open documents is frustrating.
    Thanks

How do I retrieve AW 6 documents after upgrading to Lion?

Find someone who backed up their 10.6 or is still running 10.6 who has Appleworks and Filemaker Pro who will convert the data for you, or if you have a backup, which you should always have when upgrading, downgrade to your backup first, convert the necessary files, then upgrade.  See my http://www.macmaps.com/backup.html FAQ* on how to backup if you don't know how.

Repair your permissions.  Go to applications then to the "other" folder then go to disk utility, on the left hand side you will see a white box.  Select the second option, usually called "mac HD" with that selected click on "repair permissions" in the center towards the bottom of the screen.  Wait for it to complete, then see if this fixes the issue.

  • Everything is slowed down after upgrading to ios8 ?

I have various problems after upgrading to IOS8 with mij Ipad2. Pages has for  example become very slow. I can say that it has in fact become unusable: I get typing errors caused by the slowness.
Another complaint is that the keyboard all the time covers the text.
Further I am using Icloud drive for Pages, but I want to change that. When I change this in the system, then I lose all my documents! ( but if I close WIFI then I keep the documents: I donot understand).
I would like to know if Apple reads these posts? And is there a simple possibilty to downgrade ?

    As Skydiver119 has reinforced,
Apple provides NO means or provision to downgrade iDevices to a previously installed iOS version.
There are unsupported methods to do so, but these involves doing things to your Apple iDevice that is NOT permitted by Apple and Apple has taken steps to make sure there are consequences, like making your iPad completely inoperable, by using unauthorized, unsupported and unofficial means to circumvent the normal, default operation of their mobile devices.
To use these methods to try and fix your Apple iDevice means, Apple is going to punish you for doing so, by making sure your iDevice no longer functions.

  • IMac is running slow again after upgrading Memory to 6 GB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM.  Mail is especially slow.  I have searched the community info, but I am really a novice and most of the solutions appear to be beyond my level of proficiency. Please help!

I am at a loss. even after reading other questions and responses.  After upgrading to Mt. Lion, everything on my iMac slowed down.  I knew more memory would be needed, so I went from 2G to 6G.  That worked for awhile, but now, about 3 weeks later, things are slowing down again.  Mail is especially slow, when moving from one message to another, and also just plain typing is delayed in mail.  iPhoto has had the spinning wheel issue since change to Mt. Lion, but it eventually stops and the app itself is functional, so this is just annoying as much as anything.
Any easy, simple to follow instructions would be appreciated.  Is it better for a novice to take to the Genius Bar or to an approved Mac repair center in my area, rather than attempt some of the solutions I've seen offered here.  And, if I do, what's the likelihood the issues will be resolvable?? Clearly, I am not the only one with this issue ...
Thanks for any help you can offer.

There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
    Reset the System Management Controller.
If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane.
Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
Check your keychains in Keychain Access for excessively duplicated items.
Boot into Recovery mode, launch Disk Utility, and run Repair Disk.
If you're booting from an aftermarket SSD, see whether there's a firmware update for it.
Otherwise, take the steps below when you notice the problem.
    Step 1
Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the icon grid.
Select the CPU tab of the Activity Monitor window.
Select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for % User, % System, and % Idle at the bottom of the window.
Select the System Memory tab. What values are shown in the bottom part of the window for Page outs and Swap used?
Next, select the Disk Activity tab. Post the approximate values shown for Reads in/sec and Writes out/sec (not Reads in and Writes out.)
    Step 2
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Select the 50 or so most recent entries in the log. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). You're looking for entries at the end of the log, not at the beginning.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. That should be easy to do if your extract is not too long.

  • Why are both my Mac's so slow now after upgrading to Mavericks?

I have 2 Macs, an MB Pro Core i5, & Mac Mini Mid 2010 Core 2 Duo, (both 4/320's) and both have remained significantly slower, even after indexing, unless indexing takes days upon days. I understand why the Mini may have taken a speed dip, but a Core i5 unit too?

The upgrade was done over a dysfunctional system. Do this:
    Fixing a Mavericks Installation Problem
How to manage a failed OS X Mavericks installation | MacFixIt - CNET Reviews.
    Re-download and reinstall Mavericks.
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion/Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion/Mavericks and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

    Good day,
I'd like to confirm a few things:
What action/activity are you performing in Acrobat when it crashes?
Is the crash consistent at the same point?
You stated in the subject '..after upgrading to 10.6.7'
What OS was on your iMac when you purchased it?
Was this problem occuring when using an earlier verion of 10.6.x?
Have you applied to font update Apple released to address some of the problems they introduced with 10.6.7?
Did you perform a clean install of Acrobat on your iMac after you purchased it or was the application transferred in some way?
I hope we can get this resolved for you!

  • Very slow encoding after upgrade from 5.03 to 5.5 with MXO2 mini

    Hi all.
After upgrading from CS5.03 to 5.5 my encoding now takes 5 times as long. A 2 minute HD Video file would take 2 minutes, and still does on the PC I haven't upgraded (identical almost) but now with CS5.5 it takes almost 11 minutes.
    Some explanation....
I create HD MJPEG files on a PC with Blackmagic Decklink.
I transfer these files to an HPz800 which used to run CS5.03 with Matrox Utils 5.1.1.37 and an MXO2 Mini with Max. (Nvidia Quadro fx4800 and 12GB of RAM)
On a Blackmagic timeline HD 1080i MJPEG with filters of Auto Color, Fast Color Corrector and Gamma correction a 2 minute timeline would encode in 2 minutes give or take a couple of seconds.
Now with CS5.5 and Mtx 5.5 an identical file takes 11 minutes to encode to Microsoft avi - Matrox 1920 x 1080i - 25fps.
If I remove the filters (which I need to be able to use) it will come down to 2 minutes as it used to be.....so it seems to be the filters are now slowing things down when they never used to. I have never rendered before exporting. Ever. So this time I tried rendering first and it brought the 11 minutes down to 7 minutes but when taking into account the 4 minutes rendering time I am no better off.
I have updated CS5.5 to CS 5.5.1 and MTX Utils to 5.5 and then 5.5.1 and it makes no difference. Still 11 minutes to decode 2 minutes with three filters, which is exactly what I have always been doing but now it doesn't work....
Can anybody help? or make a suggestion as to why using filters in 5.5 now multiplies the encode time by 5 when it never used to. Everything else bar Matrox Utils on this machine is as it was before the upgrade to 5.5 and as I say my older machine is still 5.03 it can do it all in 2 minutes even with the filters intact.
So have I really spent a small fortune upgrading to make my output 5 times slower. Not happy......

To go further, every single encode that I have done is slower than it was before with CS5.01 or 5.03.
This is odd because going from Blackmagic to any other codec doesn't necessarily need the Matrox box or Matrox utils
    Blackmagic HD or SD to
    Matrox HD
    QT HD MP4
    QT SD DV25
    DV AVI SD
    Mpeg2 - DVD
Every single encode is slow by 2x to 6x.
Why should Blackmagic HD to QT MOV MP4 take twice as long as it used to...... having said that The speeds I am seeing now are what it was like before I attached the box in the first place, whether a Matrox codec was involved or not.... It is acting like a blocked funnel. when it used to be a lovely wide and clear funnel.
Anyway Matrox have reproduced the problem and are investigating, so hopefully there will be an answer soon....

  • Painfully slow internet after upgrading to Snow Leopard

hi all, i recently upgraded to Slow leopard.
My internet has soon become painfully slow, taking (literally) minutes to load pages. I have checked my modem & router, they seem to be fine as my iPhone & Vista laptop run perfectly on the same network.
does anybody know what this could be?

If you have not done so since upgrading to Snow Leopard, you should run Disk Utility and use +Repair Disk Permissions+.
Have you used Software Update to apply Apple's latest updates after upgrading to Snow Leopard. If there are updates, you should run it a second time to ensure there were no dependent updates.
As a test, you can create a new admin user account in System Preferences Accounts pane.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/8235.html
Log out and log in to the new account. Try the things that caused the problems. Is it fast in the new account, or is it the same? If it is fast, then the cause is likely to be in your normal user account. If it is the same, then the cause is likely to be with the overall system (the OS).
You can also try doing a Safe Mode startup
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1455
This will do some maintenance during startup and also load only Apple's essential system extensions and processes. Any third party software you have installed will not automatically run. Check the performance while in safe mode, and if there is improvement, restart normally to see if the problem comes back or not.

  • Slow Sleep after upgrading to SSD

    Ladies and Gentlemen,
I don't understand why but after upgrading my MBP to solid state drive 500GB the Sleep is now taking up to 30 seconds. My girlfriend has a similar MBP but with standard 750GB HD and going to Sleep only takes one or two seconds, in another words my mac is keeping the display active for up to 30 seconds every time I click on sleep buttom.
    here is my config:
    Model Name:          MacBook Pro
      Model Identifier:          MacBookPro9,1
      Processor Name:          Intel Core i7
      Processor Speed:          2.3 GHz
      Number of Processors:          1
      Total Number of Cores:          4
L2 Cache (per Core):          256 KB
      L3 Cache:          6 MB
      Memory:          16 GB
      System Version:          OS X 10.8.5 (12F37)
      Kernel Version:          Darwin 12.5.0
      Boot Volume:          Macintosh HD
      Boot Mode:          Normal
Could you please share any knowledge you may have regarding this issue?
    Thanks,
    Gil

I found an article from a gentleman explaining how to turn off Safe Sleep Mode. I followed the instructions below:
    Turning Off Safe Sleep
Open the Terminal (in Applications > Utilities), then type the following command:
    sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 0
Press Enter. You’ll be prompted to enter your password. Do so, then press Enter again.
    Next, type this command:
    sudo rm /var/vm/sleepimage
    Restart.
Now my MBP is going to sleep in seconds like before. I understand what it is happening, so my question now is, did it have the safe mode enabled when I had the HDD installed? Or is it trying to be smart and now that I have a SSD it decided to enable the Sleep Safe Mode thus increasing time before it sleeps because it is saving 16GB of RAM?
here is the link to the gentleman's article:
    https://www.rowlandblogs.org/users/robertquiroz/weblog/be6de/
Please SSD users let me know if you had to do the same thing.
    Have a great day!
    Gil
