Why does the App store say 'download' to OSX Mavericks when i have already downloaded the update, and restarted the computer?
I can't find Mavericks icon on the dashboard or launchpad either! Help!

It sounds like you've installed Mavericks.  You can confirm this by clicking on the Apple located at the top left of the screen and choosing "About This Mac" from the menu.  You should see a window appear with the text "Version 10.9.1" near the middle.
If it says "Version 10.9.1", then you've installed Mavericks.  It still says "Download" in the App Store because you can still download the operating system after installing it.  This is useful if you want to download it for a friend, or create a USB boot drive.

  • Indesign performance is slow on Mac OSX Mavericks

    Hi,
I'm experiencing extremely poor performance from InDesign after a set period of time (usually an hour or two). The interface feels laggy and just general work within the program is jerky and slow. Along with this, some shortcuts like 'Duplicate' don't work, but work when clicked through the menu.
These problems seem to have occured ever since I installed OSX 10.9 Mavericks onto my iMac. Is this something other users are experiencing and is there a fix? If not, when are Adobe likely to get an update out that addresses glitches related to working on OSX Mavericks?
Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    My machine:
    iMac 27", Mid 2010, 2.93 GHz Intel Core i7, Memory 16GB 1333 MHz DDR3

Agreed…and the bigger the upgrade the more the risk.
Since Apple is allowing free upgrades from as far back as Snow Leopard and everything was fine before the upgrade, I will fall back to my advice to do a clean install of the O/S after backing everything up.
That said, you may benefit from simply uninstalling and reinstalling.
Me? Mountain Lion is just fine for now but I've already created a boot disk for Mavericks and will do a clean install once all of my software has been declared Mavericks ready. Still waiting for Extensis to update Suitcase Fusion 5.
Edit: Steve was locking while I was replying.

  • I just reset my macbook pro , but I can't download MAC OSX Mavericks

I got a used macbook pro 2011 version, it had a admin password so I reset it and erased the hard drive, I tried to reinstall mac osx mavericks but its says I needed my app store account to download it, I signed in but now it says that I never downloaded Mavericks

You'll neeed to install the version of OS X that your Mac shipped with before you can use you own Apple ID to install Mavericks.
Boot using Internet Recovery - holding down the command, option and R keys whilst booting. You'll be booting from Apple's servers and it will take awhile to get to the Recovery screen (you'll see a globe when you're first connecting to the Apple servers - then you'll finally get to the Recovery screen).
Once at the Recovery screen, use Disk Utility to erase the hard drive. After the hard drive is prepped, use Install OS X to install the version that shipped with your machine (unless it shipped with Snow Leopard in chkech case you should have discs). After you boot to Lion (? hopefully) you can sign onto the Mac App Store and download and install Mavericks using your own Apple ID.
The only problem I forsee is if you have an Early 2011 model that shipped with Snow Leopard. If that's the case you're going to have to call Apple and, with your serial number handy, order a set of machine-specific discs.
Give Internet Recovery a try, though.

  • Can't Download Mac OSX Mavericks with Mac OSX 10.7.5

something appears to be wrong here. I go to download mavericks from the app store but no download occurs (can't believe I have to use App store for this).  i'm on a late 2011 mac powerbook.  download shows up in launchpad with a status bar that never moves.  mac app store won't acknowledge download when i press the download button.  no status update on the mac app store, it just thinks about it for a second and then goes back to displaying the word "download"  I have seen this same problem on this forum but have not seen an answer that works for my situation.  anti virus disabled, firewall disabled, gatekeeper set to allow for app store.  Any suggestions?

To determine if it is actually downloading use Launchpad. You should see a fairly obvious new icon with an associated progress bar. Make sure you check every Launchpad page by swiping left / right.
If it's paused, click the icon to restart it.
Once it completes the icon will appear in Applications and Launchpad, it's just easier to find in Launchpad.
When it's finished downloading it looks like this:
If it really is not downloading read Mac App Store: How to resume interrupted downloads
    Open the Mac App Store.
From the Store menu, choose Sign In.
Enter your Apple ID and password.
Click Purchases to get to your Purchases Page.
Click the Resume button next to the app name.

  • HT6114 since I downloaded the OSX mavericks, I can no longer access word and excel

Please help, I can not access word or excel after downloading the OS X mavericks software

I upgraded to 10.9 and everything (including attaching Excel and Word files to Apple Mail as an attachment) works just fine.
It does not work if you use Outlook instead of Apple mail.
    Reinstall Office.

  • Mail, App Store & Terminal won't open after OSX Mavericks Update

    Hey,
Updated to OSX Mavericks yesterday - today Mail started crashing, found a solution but needed to use Terminal - which won't open. I thought OK, I'll reinstall OSX, but can't open the App Store either...
Does anyone know a solution to this one, or have a link to a direct (non App Store) download of OSX Mavericks.
I've tried Safe Boot and didn't help.
    Thanks,
    Eliot

I went to the Apple Store today and the genius recommended a new install of Mavericks, just do a time machine back up then hold down alt and go to the recovery drive then click reinstall or new install of Mavericks.
Note: This will take a long time it took 3 hours for my machine. When it prompts you to install the back up from time machine I would recommend unchecking the box that asks if you'd like to install with your settings. I have a hunch that what caused this problem in the first place was a corrupted file in the settings. Hope this helps..

  • MacMini saying HDD is damaged during OSX Mavericks install

Ok I finally started up my MacMini and downloaded the OSX Mavericks upgrade. Problem is now that it's restarting to upgrade and it's saying my HDD is damaged and can't be repaired. Says to resart, delete everything and retry. Except now it's stuck in a restart cycle and keeps trying to install Mavericks but of course it has the same error.
Now since it's a MacMini I don't have a wired keyboard, just bluetooth keyboard and mouse.
I can't figure out now what to do short of buying a keyboard which being in SE Asia it's not cheap. I may be able to pick up a generic wired kayboard but not sure how it would work with a Mac.
I searched and seems this is a problem. Not sure if it's because of Mavericks or my HDD is really damaged.

I'm not sure a wireless keyboard will work in the Recovery Volume.
Boot to the Recovery Volume (command - R on a restart or hold down the option key during a restart and select Recovery Volume). Run Disk Utility Verify/Repair and Repair Permissions. Then reinstall the OS which should be Mountain Lion if Mavericks hasn't installed.
