Slow email address recognition

This problem never happen with Snow Lepoard or with the original Mt Lion.  It just started with the latest upgrade 10.8.2

Two suggestions.
1. What you see is not always what you get! If any of the imported addresses is correct, there may be unprintable characters in the FM file for those address causing this warning. Double check what FM is sending and/or how they are entered in the database.
2. Mail maintains a list of addresses you have used. Even if you correct any problems in the FM file (assuming there are any), Mail may be trying to use the incorrect address in its own list.
First, make sure the "Message Viewer" is the front-most window. Now check the Mail address list by using "Window->Previous Recipients" in the menu bar. If you find duplicates, you may need to delete both and start over with that recipient, assuming you can determine the correct address. I found it possible to manually type in an address, exactly the way it appeared but have it work because the one in the list was not showing exactly how or what was incorrect. Hope that works for you and you don't have too many addresses to correct!

    I've spent most of the day searching this forum for an answer but I'm not finding it, so I'm hoping someone might be able to help.
    I've imported a comma-separated file (of 1000+ email addresses) from Filemaker Pro 9 into my Address Book. I'm now trying to send an email to all of them.
    I create an email in Apple Mail, click on Address Book, select the group, all the e-mail addresses appear in the BCC field, but when I try to send I immediately get a message that says: [email protected] does not appear to be a valid email address. I check the address, nothing's wrong. I delete it from the list and I get the same message for the next address. If I tell it to send anyway, the entire list kicks back as invalid.
    I don't know what to do now. What I see as the address is correct but for some reason the program is not recognizing it. Any thoughts on what I can do to get this email sent? Thanks!

  • Mail will no longer recognize a previously recognized email address

    Hi, I use Mail for my corporate email. It has been flawless up until I took the OSX update on Saturday. I did not lose my Inbox, but I lost the email address recognition when I create a new email.
    When I type a "known" address into the "To" box, Mail will not recognize any of it's previously known addresses.
    On top of that I have noticed an issue w/Calendar. I was not allowed to edit any of my Meetings on the calendar. It would not recognize me as the initiator or host.
    Please help!!! I rely so much on these tools, I am lost w/o them.

    Sorry for that I said it wrong, BUT ...
    How if you investigate the menu in the Mail menu bar your self ... the is a address overview.
    Go tho Mail menu bar click on the menu just before the HELP. I,m using Mail setup in Dutch and NOT in English.
    When you select the drop down menu it will be the 6th item down, select it and a NEW window will opening with ALL the addresses you ever sent ore received mail from.

  • Mail slow getting email address from address book

    Since moving to Lion on both a MacBook Pro and a new iMac desktop plus a MacBook AIR I sometimes use, I have had difficulty with Mail fetching email addresses from the Address Book. It sometimes takes well over a minute of it searching to come up with a selection of addresses and other times it simply stops fetching altogether. What is causing this to be so slow? Can I switch address book sources from Apple Address Book to my Google Apps Address Book which is more accurate as I seldom use the Apple Address Book? Thanks

  • Fetching of email address too slow since TB 31

    Since the update to TB 31, fetching email addresses while typing a part of it and hitting tab does not work.
    Ex. I have an email saved as [email protected] Till the update I would quickly type "samp" and hit tab immediately. It would automatically fetch that email. Since the update I would have to wait till the list of possible email addresses show up and than hit tab.
    This is really disturbing and time consuming. Maybe it has something to do with the recent changes made in that area. How could I disable the new function to revert back to the old behavior and maybe speed things up a notch again?

    I am somewhat new to iOS and OS having grown up with DOS and Windows. I am not familiar with IMAP and iCloud and I am not even sure which types of servers my various emails use.
    The problem I would anticipate with iCloud is that (I assume) it would limit my access to data (including mail) on the iCloud to when I happen to be logged onto the internet. I also assume(?) that large files (photos etc.) would require some time to download whenever I wish to access them from whichever device I happen to be using (I hope I am wrong about this).
    I have kept my devices to 500gb - 1TB for OS and 32gb - 128gb for iOS but since I have pretty slow WiFi (shared with DirecTV Whole Home and Netflix streaming) it is my impression that iCloud might be quite limited due to data transfer times.
    Perhaps a factor would be that I have 2 DSL lines and my main DSL line is connected to two wireless routers (to also provide WiFi in a metal building that blocks WiFi and Cellular signals)
    I may be totally wrong in my assumptions regarding iCloud. My mail is not so urgent that I need access to it instantly and I could wait until I had internet access or I can get it on my iPhone. My main concern with iCloud would be my data files (Word, Pages, Excel, Numbers etc.).
    On the other hand, if I wanted to keep my 10,000 emails that would take up a lot of iCloud memory and I don't know how to measure how much storage it would take or how to move Hotmail or even iCloud mail to iCloud.
    It may take me some time to figure this out.

    are you?
    If you enter the full line, it will read in all
    of the entries each time it is called.
    You should break each part into an object:
    gwAccount
    gwBook
    gwEntries
    I'm not sure what you are doing.
    Are you trying to compose an email?
    If so, why are you not using Recipients.Resolve()?
    Are you trying to get the recipients from an email?

  • I wanted to reset my password but then realized I think I set this up with my old email address what should I do?

    I wanted to sign in and could not. I set up firefox with my old email address and can't remember my password. so I filled in the area for you to send me a reset password. That was hours ago.     1. You did not get an error message telling you that your iPhoto library was getting full. You got a message telling you that your HD was getting full, right?
    OS X needs about 10 gigs of hard drive space for normal OS operations - things like virtual memory, temporary files and so on.
    Without this space your Mac will slow down as the OS hunts for space on the disk, files will be fragmented, also slowing things down, apps will crash and the risk of data corruption - that is damage to your files, photos, music - increases exponentially.
    Your first priority is to make more space on that HD. Nothing else can be done until you do.
    Purchase an external HD and move your Photos and Music to it. Both iPhoto and iTunes can run perfectly well with the Library on an external disk.
    Your Library has been damaged from being run on an overfull disk.
    How much free space on it now?

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

    Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
    Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
    You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

    when i start to type an email address when sending an email, a black box appears over the "to" area. sometimes it covers just one line and sometime it covers the whole email "to" area. it eventually goes away, but in the meantime my email address lines are blocked out with this black box

    i have my ical alerts set up to email me from Mail to my yahoo account. worked for years, but now with 10.5 it still isn't sending. the alert stays in my Mail sent folder. OSX10.5.8

    The best way to work with a change of email address, for whatever reason, is usually to set up a new account in Thunderbird for the new address.
    However, any account that you've stopped using will be at risk of trying to connect to its server and will bug you with error messages. If you want to keep the messages from an defunct account, the best way to deal with it is to move them to Local Folders in Thunderbird, or if you must, into the folders of the new account.
    Using the Archive function may also be appropriate for older messages; allowing messages to accumulate indefinitely may lead to very large files on your hard disk, which may either fail if/when they reach a size limit or at the least, may become very slow to access.   • Cannot load backup (due to changed Apple ID/updated email address)

    I have followed the answer provided to Ross202 by Gail from Maine. Unfortunately I fear my problem may be larger.
    Objective
    Move iCloud-backed up data to new iPhone (old phone "drowned" over holidays)
    Context
    My original Apple ID was EmailOld. This email address (EmailOld) has been terminated. Unfortunately my iCloud / backup is linked to Apple ID EmailOld (so verifying this is not possible). My new AppleID is EmailNew, and this has been verified. I have tried changing my Apple profile to EmailOld, as suggested by Gail (without the verification email).
    Despite following Gail's steps, Apple could not backup my old account. Error message:
    "Cannot load backups. There was a problem loading your iCloud Backups. Try again, set up as a new iPhone, or restore from an iTunes backup.
    Options
    - Try again (*)
    - Set up as a new iPhone (**)
    - Restore from iTunes (***)"
    Troubleshooting steps
    (*) Try again repeats same issue.
    Apple ID EmailOld: "iCloud Sign in" --> Agree --> "It may take a few minutes to set up your Apple ID" --> Choose backup screen --> takes an age --> above message repeated
    AppleID EmailNew: (Update AppleID to EmailNew in My Apple ID) "iCloud Sign in" --> Agree --> "It may take a few minutes to set up your Apple ID" --> "Choose backup" screen, with options --> selection of backups --> but then I either 1) have to enter correct password corresponding with EmailOld (and EmailOld and current password don't match), or 2) get error message above
    (**) Set up as a new iPhone (using:
    (a) old Apple ID says --> "Could Not Sign In | There was a problem connecting to the server". I have reviewed and checked wifi connection, all in order here. I have tried using new account, same error message,
    (b) new Apple ID works. And this is hopeful - the device can detect I have about 10GB data stored on iCloud. However, I cannot agitate this sync from iCloud to my new device
    (***) I have logged in to iTunes with Apple ID EmailOld (it works - it even says 17 updates on my apps, however I can't agitate updates). I cannot get a sync going.
    My phone requests me to "Connect to iTunes", but I cannot do anything more than this. (I have unplugged and plugged my USB cable many times)
    I have also logged in to iTunes with Apple ID EmailNew (it works too). But, again, I cannot connect to iTunes
    Possible solutions
    Recognition of 10GB iCloud-backed up data on new device (despite the fact that old Apple ID doesn't match new Apple ID)

  • Cant sign into iTunes with VPP manager email address

    Is anyone else having difficulty signing into iTunes with their Apple VPP account manager email address? I work as an IT contractor for a number of schools and in the past have set up VPP so that paid and free apps can be distributed via an MDM solution. Recently, the process by which we do this isn't working any more. Apple have admitted in emails that they have changed the way that VPP accounts are set up on their end and that during the transition some accounts were processed incorrectly (causing a lot of headaches and confusion). In one instance, we set up the VPP manager account using a distribution list email address of .*******. later, we enabled two step verification and provisioned the facilitator account. but when we sent to sign into the iTunes store with the management accounts email address, we got the error message: "this email is associated with he VPP program". We have told apple about this who replied with a frustrating tautology: "our records indicate that that address is associated with the VPP program, so you will have to use another email address to sign into iTunes." Trouble is, for the purposes of information management, we cant just sign into iTunes with any old email address, we have to use one provisioned by the education department, and they wont provision another email address for this.. Also, we have screenshots which demonstrate that it is possible to sign into iTunes with the program manager account at other schools, so what has changed? If this keeps up, I will have no choice but to recommend to all schools in future that they not go with Apple because their account provision system is not maintained at a professional level.  The fact that they are so slow moving on this makes me look bad and the lack of documentation is inexcusable given the massive profits they have been posting.  I will campaign vehemently against the use of apple in education unless this situation changes for the better.  Already one school on our books have had an absolute gut-full of and have sold off the 60 iPads they purchased in favor of Android tablets with custom ROMS. What is the solution and why is there no phone number for Apple VPP in Australia?

    I know this post is over a year old. We setup our VPP account in Feb last year. It's very frustrating.

    I work at a school as THE ONLY IT Support Officer. I setup a generic user account for VPP under the old system so that the account was not tied to my name just in case I left or someone else had to take over the role. Now we cant use that account to manage the VPP account. We have to create other admin accounts. Trouble is, most of us already have our personal emails attached to iTunes accounts, AND YOUR SYSTEM WON'T LET US USE THESE ACCOUNTS TO BE ADMINS FOR OUR VPP ACCOUNT BECAUSE THEY ARE ALREADY ATTACHED TO AN ITUNES ACCOUNT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    The generic email account we setup is a distribution list account for the purposes of adding and removing people as needed. Apples change now means that we have to create more email accounts. I won't be doing that any time soon, I already have 5 and not about to create moer.
    I too will not be recommending that schools go with Apple products. They are a consumer product, not an enterprise product. The promise you the world and all you get is pain.
