Slow Email Synch...
I am using Mail in Leopard and I have Gmail Imap mail service.. When I download files etc. from the net, they usually download at 400 kb/s.. my mail (based on the activity window ) in mail comes in at 1.5 kb/s (or less)... Did i set something up incorrectly?? Any ideas??
You can change the time manually through the menu settings.
As for forcing connection I do not think you can force it to connect, I could be wrong though.
As for your email, I can't help you on that at all except to say that outlook has a problem with the.Droid 1.

I've been having trouble with my computers recently because they are running REALLY slowly and I just couldn't figure it out. I went in the Apple store and they said a hard drive re-boot might be the answer and needless to say I've been putting that off.
Then I got an email from my web guy to say that my email sig was slowing his computer down(!!) and I needed to change the email signature.
Now, I have my email signature set up so that it includes the relevant info that I want included so I don't want to delete them BUT I do want them to not be slowing things down.
I asked him what he meant and here is the code that just one of my email signatures is generating and all I've done is set it up to look nice in the mac mail preferences panel.
Any ideas on how I can solve this and make it still look nice but not have crazy slowing code would be much welcomed!

Hi everyone. Newbie here.....Dell Inspirion user for years, bought our first Macbook yesterday. Our email still runs through Yahoo....obviously through Firefox. It's really slow compared to the "old" Dell. It takes 10-15 seconds for an email to respond, ect..... Is this the nature of beast when trying to use a program made for a pc? Thanks.
If it's just in a browser it shouldn't, or I wouldn't think it would be a platform issue - perhaps ISP/bandwidth/yahoo issue - just for kicks try it in a different browser. Do you run many/any Firefox addons?

I checked the logs and queues and found nothing related to the problem. A traceroute from them to my mail server took several milliseconds on certain hops...so it might be due to network problems...

I think you have network problems.
Their server should be waiting up to 10 minutes, so, likely there are true network problems somewhere. This is not likely a Messaging Server problem, especially if you don't have any problems sending mail from your users.....

My blackberry is trying to synch to an email account that I've already deleted. Has anyone encountered this problem?
Question: Have you deleted the account itself from your BB? If not, then that would explain why its still trying to sync to that email account.
On the other hand, if you have already deleted that account from your BlackBerry (under "manage internet email" settings), I don't recall ever seeing that problem. -
Etresoft Report: Slow file synch over LAN
Hi,
I have a Macbook Pro connected wirelessly to my QNAP TS-453 NAS. All finder based activities seem to be reasonably quick, but the QSync utility (similar to Dropbox in its operation) is very very slow. It takes approximately 30-40 minutes to synch a single change and the first time synch was hours. Dropbox does it in minutes. All network devices are set to 1500 MTU and I have confirmed non fragmentation of packets using ping -d -s <ip>.
After speaking to QNAP support, they pointed me towards Etresoft's great utility, the output of which is posted below.
Is there anything that is screaming off the page as to what may be causing this slow performance?

I'm using a networked linksys NSLU to house my music library and music files. When I plug in my iPod (video), it starts to synch immediately (I have it set to do this). The problem I see is that it takes forever >10 minutes to just even evaluate my 16gb of music to determine if there are any changes to synch.
This seems extremely slow. Is this because it's doing it over the network to the linksys NLSU?
Anyone else with this problem? Suggestions on getting the synch to happen faster?

Dell Windows XP Networked to linksys NSLUI've been frustrated w/ the speed for a long time.
When I first got my video ipod it took over 24hours to initially load it. This was w/ only 10-12GB of music.
The other week I had to reinit my ipod and fully reload it. This time I had approx 12GB of tunes, and tons of video files. Total load size around 50GB. This time it took just over 12 hours.
I discovered that the video interface of the Windows version of iTunes is a CPU hog.
Minimize iTunes while its loading your iPod. This more than doubled my data transfer rate to the iPod (over USB2.x)
fyi, I run an old PCI ATI graphics adapter. My friends w/ way faster graphics never complain about the speed issue.
On older versions of iTunes I also found that it helped to set all the iTunes processes affinity to the boot strap proc (first processor typically as Windows sees them). This had helped w/ speed, but also helped eliminate blue screens. The need to do this seems to have been eliminated in the v7.x iTunes. -
Can you stop the email synch while in progress on ...
It seems while the phone is synching you can do anything with email during synch session-anyway of cancelling/suspending the sych session?
Switching off the phone will do the job

I.Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folder.
Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder—not just its contents—to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Log out and log back in. Launch Mail and test. If the problem is resolved, you may have to recreate some of your Mail settings. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window.
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return. -

I called the BB help desk because my email that always synced flawlessly on my Torch started to behave differently on the Z10 -- turns out I was not keeping a copy on the ISP server for the synch period (30 days) so the email would show up instantaneously on the Z10 then disappear immediately. Didn't matter in Torch/BES days but now with BES out of the loop it sure does! Kind of obvious after the fact but had me stumped for a while.

When integrating an email account onto your BlackBerry® smartphone, that email account receives its own folder, plus it appears in the main Messages folder. This is designed so that if you have several email accounts, they will all appear in the main Messages folder as a "Unified" email inbox.
So, the email is not being duplicated, it is just available to read in 2 different folders.

I noticed that my 1520 Lumia is very slow when it comes to email and pics downloads compared to other smart phones. Any tips to solve that or improve it?
ThanksI think it is dependent on the network connection you use to download em. It is as quick on my Lumia as it is on my Android connected to the same WiFi.

the problem: every time i get a new email (using exchange server) it takes forever to load the message. i can see them in the inbox, including the preview, but when i click on the message it just hangs on "loading....". i know this is going to be somewhat dependant on the connection speed (wifi/3g) but it occurs in almost all instances... plus, if i can see the preview (which most of the time actually will show almost all of the content of the message) why does it need to reload that?? any tips to get this to work better or is this just a "feature" of the iphone email system? (if the latter, i really don't understand how any enterprise can roll the iphone out as a solution vs the blackberry)
I thought it was just me, my iPad and my iPhone both are slow at loading the email content from my Exchange server. I have a Windows Phone 7 on test connected to the same mailbox on the Exchange server and the content loads in an instant to the extent where I will use that phone over the Apple devices because it is so fast.
It is not every email either, I can't spot the pattern yet. Both my iPhone and iPad are on 4.3.3 and all three devices are on the same mobile carrier so it is not pinch points in the infrastructure, the common factor is the Apple devices.
I wanted to know if there was a known problem with Apple devices and Exchange, is there something buggy in the later versions of iOS and the ActiveSync client? It never used to be like this and it is a frustrating experience having to wait whilst the device says "loading". Another frustrating message I see is "this content has not been downloaded from the server" where the message body should be, the only way I can force it to load is to forward the message and ask it to download the content. Bonkers!!
Any chance of a fix for this? -
Very slow email connection on one mailserver only
I will try and keep it short but it is complex (to me!):
I have suddenly, since Friday 2 March, experienced very slow connection to one of my ISP's mailservers. Emails without attachments work ok'ish (a little "hesitantly"), emails with attachments of moderate sizes (eg. +/- 500 KB) download/upload extremely slowly and most of the time fail. I have asked my ISP, who are generally helpful, and they have tested the mailserver and can find nothing wrong. So, here we go:
The problem is both for ethernet and wireless.
The problem is for one account only. I have a different account with the same ISP, but on a different mailserver, which works absolutely fine.
Two different Macs have the same problem. The other PCs with different ISP's accounts work fine.
Router is working fine with good internet connection and email via one of the two accounts works fine.
It is not a problem on my computer (since it is the same issue for two machines). Both run OSX 10.6.8
I have tried both Entourage and Outlook on both machines; same problem everywhere - one account works, the other doesn't (properly).
I have tried with my iPhone, using the same wireless connection and same account details, and it downloads emails with attachments speedily - emails that failed to download on the MBP/Outlook.
I have tried one of the machines (a MacBook Pro) at home with a different wireless connection but to the same mailserver and it works fine there!
This happened last Friday and no settings have been changed locally for months.
My conclusion is (but may be wrong):
The router is fine
The macs are fine
The email clients are fine
General connection to internet and mail is fine
The mailserver is probably fine
But a connection between one mailserver account and the two macs has suddenly gone wrong.
It is almost as if there is a setting on either the mailserver saying "I don't like that connection to that place, I will slow it down." or somewhere in this place saying "I don't like that account on that mailserver, I will slow it down."
The question then is:
Which network setting is so specific that it can be this selective? And why did it suddenly happen?
I don't seem to get anywhere, so I'm trying the communities. Any help much appreciated!Update: After two weeks of scratching my head trying to find any local settings (computer or router) that were specific enough and after really not doing anything at all, normal service resumed suddenly. I have now had a good short week without any disruption or speed issues. The problem that was is still a mystery, though.

I got the new E72 to use for the office. But I seem to have the problem I can't seem to be able to figure out.
I am using Mail for Exchange on the phone but it became utterly slow to browse through the emails and it takes ages for me to compose or reply to an email. Does anyone else have this or have had this? I need to solve this because I can't work on this phone anymore.
Many thanks in advanceYes I have just had this happen to me too. I have had my e72 for a while but decided to hard reset the phone and reinstall everything. Ever since then, it is very slow an unresponsive, from clicking an email it would take 10 seconds for the email to load up.
I suspect it may be more programs in my memory or some such. Any way we can assess the performance of our handset to figure out how to make it as fast as before. QWhen the e72 is working well it flies, emails come up instantly...
