Slow Form Responce in XI

i am having a problem with acrobat reader and forms.  There are a few forms that respond very slowly on the computer. In fact they are so slow in response to typing it takes several seconds for the text to appear. One thing I have noticed is that the Windows busy icon appears briefly whenever I move the mouse from one field to another field. We have done everything we can think of, including a complete system wipe and load. Others are not able to replicate the problem with the form. I'm running a Windows 7 HP revolve tablet if that makes any difference. Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Running 11.0.10 already, and have already tried disabling protected mode.  Doesn't seem to make a difference.  I'm wondering if something in bios is causing undue loading of the CPU, but nothing is showing up and all other applications work fine.  Editing the forms in other readers also works fine.

I have a slow form here http://ppl.ug/OD6rBPEj7FM/ Need the tabbing to go faster. It at 3 sec. they want it at 1 sec.(instant gratification)
I can't do upgrades (default install es8), add pages, or make it read only. Help my job on the line.

    Hi,
I can't look at your form at the moment, however try and avoid script in events like layout:ready, as this can really slow things down. See here for a description: http://assure.ly/nB0Bvz. A quick way to check for script in your form in a particular event, is to select it in the show dropdown (like layout:ready) and then select the root node. In the Script Editor you can then quickly scroll down and check for objects with script.
Also have a look at John Brinkman's blog as he has a number of examples for efficient script. In particular: http://blogs.adobe.com/formfeed/2011/10/script-performance-exercise.html.
3 seconds seems a very long time.
    Good luck,

  • Acrobat 9.0 Crash on importing distributed form responces

I am having problems with a particular distributed form that I am working with.  I have several distributed forms with no problem when it comes to importing the forms into a responce file, save one.  Whenever I open the responce file it will automatically try to import new responces and looks like it does one sucessfully but always crashes on a particular import.  The last thing it says before the crash is:
"Importing data sent by Someone A. Someone, Psy.D>..."
The only thing that is odd about it is the person used a ">" insted of a "."  However it would be silly if that was the problem because that might mean that data is not getting sanitized on import and is messing with the code.
I have attached a bug report that was generated.
A workable solution, if that responce form is the problem, would be if I could somehow remove the offending responce from the tracker but get the other responces.

just to better explain my problem.
    1. i created the document in Word and used Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Standard to save it as a PDF and create form fields..
    2.  I then used acrobat.com to distributed and restricted the file to emailed recipients only.
    3.  The recipients received the file okay.  however were prompted to create a login and password in order to access the document.
         a.  through my understanding they should have been able to open the file and fill it out using adobe reader or Acrobat.
         b.  also my understanding that acrobat.com would track the submissions - has only tracked one via Adobe Tracking Notification.
i use adobe products but an new to acrobat.com file sharing.  I thought this would be a more convenient way to track and discuss the form with colleagues but am finding it to be just the opposite for them.  Any insite would be helpful at this point.  thank you!  I hope this better illustrates my issues.

  • Printing completed form responces in the original PDF completed form format.

I sign into forms central, I see the responces to my form, but the answers are all in seprate fields. So to match the answers to the original PDF form, I must print the responces, and then mathch them with the original form. Is there a way to print the responces in the original PDF form format? So that the responces will appear in the PDF form (in this case a credit application) so that I may print the completed form?

    Check out this FAQ: http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-1383
You can just save a response to PDF and then print the PDF. Note: This is a paid only feature.

  • SLOW form loading in Adobe Reader 7 in software app on ONE laptop

Background:  We have a developed application from a software vendor that uses Adobe Reader 7 for the forms.  We have about 50 PCs and laptops that run this application.
Problem:  ONE of these laptops starts off the day loading these forms ok, but after a short time, 30 min. to an hour of use, it CRAWLS when it loads the form.  We're talking a few seconds or less than a second at the beginning of the day to MINUTES later on.  Have reported it to the software company - but they don't have an idea.  We have tried Deleting Cookies and Deleting Temporary Internet Files.  Also, reorged the hard drive and found some bad clusters.  Didn't seem to help.  Have already reloaded Adobe Reader once, but probably looking at doing it again.    Other stuff, like MS Word, e-mail, Internet Explorer, etc. seems to NOT have a problem
Question:  Does anyone have an idea of what could be causing this problem and how do we fix it?

Sorry, did not see that forum selection.  I will post my question there.  Thanks.

  • Form extremely slow to fill in.

I have a form that I created and it is extremely slow to fill in. I created it on PC and fill it in on a Galaxy Tab S 10.5. I had a different version of same form and it filled out fine. It just printed way to light. I darkened the form and scanned it back in and now it takes forever to fill out and move between fields. I would attach both forms, but I can't see that option. Please help me if you can.

It takes about 3 seconds to open good one, and about 25 seconds to open slow one. Takes almost as long to make an entry in a field.

  • Mdadm boot slow to assemble drives with newer installs

I had a problem where my raid1 installs from this year would pause about 5 seconds per mdadm entry yet my old installs from March 2014 would go through all 4 mdadm entries in less than a second. After fussing for a long time on the new installs I finally broke (slowed) one of my old installs which immediately revealed what the problem was.
I didn't forget to pick partition type FD or FD00. I have my install sequence in a text file so I rarely forget things. I install through PuTTY pasting all the way so it's fast and mistakes are rare.
devices of the form /dev/md/* take about 5 seconds to create.
devices of the form /dev/md{0..127} create very fast.
"mdadm -E --scan" always creates devices of the form /dev/md/{0..127}. In the past I was very meticulous about fixing the device names to the more compact form. I never missed so I never found out there was a substantial speed difference. I just like the the more compact look of /dev/md1 in my boot menu. Eventually I progressed to UUID and LABEL but persisted with the compact form. Then I discovered "mdadm --name" so I left mdadm do it's own thing. What could possibly go wrong?
I also noticed that the mdadm instructions changed from using "mdadm" to "mdadm_udev". mdadm_udev seems to assemble faster than mdadm.
To fix, boot once to see if you're slow, fix any usage of /dev/md*/* in your boot scripts or fstab, fix the form in /etc/mdadm.conf, and mkinitcpio...
I still see that the new installs pause at udev more than old installs, but instead of 20s vs >1s, it's now 5s vs >1s, which is much better.
Looking further I compared mkinitcpio.conf and noticed that autodetect is now installed by default. I took that out and though my list of drivers went way down the pause didn't change. Then I compared "lsinitcpio -a /boot/initramfs-linux.img" and I saw that fsck.zfs was loading so ZFS being a data drive only I uninstalled it and remade mkinitcpio. The pause didn't change.
Now "lsinitcpio -a /boot/initramfs-linux.img" and "lsinitcpio /boot/initramfs-linux.img | sort" compare the same yet the pause remains. I know something is lying because the slow pause computer has a SAS controller and the fast pause computer doesn't, and I know that I must remake mkinitcpio when the SAS controller brand changes or it won't boot without Fallback. The mptsas driver is hiding in there somewhere. So then I unpack both initrd files and by-content compare all files with Total Commander.
    Only one difference: mdadm.conf
I can't boot without the SAS controller so I can't check to see if that's the source of the pause. I suspect it is because I can see the NumLock blink halfway through the pause and I know the SAS controller isn't concerned with that.
To solve this quandary I made a quickie install on a SATA only computer. I used the fast form of /dev/md* in mdadm.conf and left autodetect in mkinitcpio.
It's fast, but there's still about a half second pause right there at udev. Out goes autodetect. Still about a half second.
Then, back at the slow pause computer, I swapped the Marvell AOC-SASLP-MV8 for the LSI SAS2008 9211-8i. See Zorinaq for what makes this possible. The pause at udev dropped to about 1s which is only a bit slower than SATA. Not really a win since the LSI BIOS boot takes much longer. The good news is that I didn't need to rebuild mkinitcpio to change controllers. autodetect is toast and I get one more degree of freedom!
I guess that's as good as it gets. Fortunately the mdadm --name option doesn't create /dev/md/* entries so I don't need to fix that.
The Internet is strangely silent on this issue. I guess you're all just used to slow boots with mdraid.
This is a bug and needs to be reported. Either mdadm scan needs to stop producing the slow form or needs to make the slow form fast.

severach wrote:I didn't forget to pick partition type FD or FD00.
I wouldn't use this partition type anymore. (raid autodetect is deprecated)
severach wrote:Then I discovered "mdadm --name" so I left mdadm do it's own thing.
mdadm --name never worked well for me. I don't see many people using it.
I prefer a minimal mdadm.conf that only specifies the md number and UUID.
    ARRAY /dev/md0 UUID=627125a5:abce6b82:6c738e49:50adadae
I don't notice any delays but, in my case the raid is assembled in the background while in the foreground LUKS is waiting for me to type a passphrase.

  • Updating a pdf form

    Hi
unfortunately due to the requirement to save the form i had to use the pdf form instea dof the web version.
the problem i have i s the form is live and working ok, but i neeed to make some adjustments to the form,
whats the best way to do this?
can i update the original form or do i need to re-import the edited pdf form.
I wish to continue colletc the responses in the same place?
please advise the best way to update the pdf form, reimported/ distrubute it and collect in the same place as the orginal form
    hope it makes sense

    Hi randy
I thought so, what i was asking is how best to merge the data,i'm guessing i would need to make the changes create a new form and copy the data into the new form responces area to sync them together.
then use the new form from there on in.

  • Forms-Performance problem

I running Portal version 3.0.8.9.8 on Sun Solaris and I have perfomence problem when running forms. I have created a form against emp table and it takes over one minute to open the form. When I try to run a report against the same table it only takes a second to open and execute the query.
    Does anyone have solution?
    null

    Hi all,
First, regarding 3.0.8 performance degradation, it is BUG # 1721741, the workaround:
    Create 2 additional indexes:
    CREATE INDEX WWA_MODULE_BINDINGS_IDX1
    ON WWA_MODULE_BINDINGS$(
    SUBSCRIBER_ID,
    MODULE_ID,
    MODULE_VERSION,
    MODULE_BLOCK_ID,
    MODULE_ATTR_ID)
    CREATE INDEX WWA_MODULE_LOV_BINDINGS_IDX1
    ON WWA_MODULE_LOV_BINDINGS$(
    SUBSCRIBER_ID,
    MODULE_ID,
    MODULE_VERSION,
    MODULE_BLOCK_ID,
    MODULE_ATTR_ID)
Those indexes are missing in the standard fresh install but present if you run an upgrade from versions 3.0.6 or 3.0.7.
*****!!!!! Please note: This workaround can be applied ONLY to Portal forms version
3.0.8.9.8. Earlier versions of the Portal do not need those indexes !!!!!******
This bug is fixed in 3.0.9.
    Now, 3.0.7 performance problems:
    Is this normal?
    No.
Is there anything that I can change to speed this up?
That's what I'm trying to figure out. Can you provide me with as much details as possible about your slow forms? Anything - form types (MD, forms on tables) any remote DB tables involved?, # of fields in the form?
Is there an index missing in the PORTAL30 schema?
    No. Not in 3.0.7.
The more columns in the underlying table the longer the form takes to appear,
is this a general rule of thumb?
    Yes.
    Thanks,
    Dmitry

  • Desktop HP Pavillion running Windows 7 freezes on start up

Let's get a few things out of the way right now:
The computer is 3 months old, has never had a problem like this before, no changes have been made to the hardware since purchase and nothing has been downloaded in about two weeks.
there are no CDs or DVDs in any of the drives, and there are no thumb drives or external harddrives plugged in.
    So here's the deal:
I went to bed last night around 1 am and left my computer on. I woke up this morning at 8 to find it had reset itself and was sitting at the startup screen just forzen. So I unplugged my external harddrive and reset it. This time it froze on the start up, but offered start up repair.
And hour later it finished 'loading windows files' and told me if was starting windows, but had no logo. The logo slow formed on the screen and was fully visible in 45 minutes.
An hour after THAT it still hadn't loaded.
I reset it again, went through the same process, still windows wouldn't start up.
The third time, despite doing absolutly nothing differently (and having waited over four hours in loading screens this time) I ended up getting some options such as running the start up repair again, completely formatting my harddrive or booting from a previous point in my computers short but healthy history. I chose to boot from the past (I only had one checkpoint to choose from which was from two days ago) and finally figured that would solve my problems.
    Nope.
Windows tried to start again, failed and the start up screen came back. The files took an hour to 'load' before the whole thing froze on the start up screen for another hour and a half.
Safe mode won't start up, diagonistic show nothing wrong.
I work from home and really need my computer, so please help me resolve this quickly.

    Hello KellyGrady,
Are you able to get the HP logo screen to appear?
If so start up the computer and when you see that screen press the ESC key, this will give you a list of options and one of the options is a diagnostics.
This will check the hard drive and see if there are any problems.
Run the test and post your results.

  • Developing Scrolling Table

I have deleloped a scrolling table (with horizonal and vertical scrollbars) using html, xsql, xsl, javascript, and ajax technology. I need to display very large tables (2,000-10,000 lines of data) some tables have around 20 columns. The problem is my code is too slow and the window seems to response slowly to anything the user tries to do in the window, like click on a button. It takes over 3 minutes for around 2,000 lines of data.
I am using JDeveloper 10.1.2 with Oracle 10g database. Are there any build-in features availiable in JavaServer Faces or any thing else in JDeveloper that would help me with getting a scrolling table developed in a web page?
Any examples or documentation on this would be great. Or any other web sites which may have a tool that does this? We cannot use Active-X components.

The examples provided do paging. The customer wanted a scrolling table like in Microsoft excel. Can you do something like that in a web page?
I was asking if you can have a scrolling table within a web page which can hold 5,000-10,000 records and even larger number of records and the web page work recently well. The one I created works very slow in responcing when trying to do anything in the web page like scrolling down in the table or entering a value in a text box on the web page.
So Oracle does not have a plug-in or object that allows for a large scrolling table of data? Or some technique that makes it look like a large scrolling table?

  • USB External Drive Solutions

    USB solutions for MacBook Air:
USB port powered SSD or thumb drives with minimal power requirements seem a good fit.
A USB external hard drive with extraordinarily low power requirements would be another option; possibly one of the green drives might get away with using just USB bus power? Most hard drives do require AC power to safely work with a USB connection. It would be great to determine which if any external hard drives can operate using the minimal current provided through the USB port but I suspect that specific goal will be limited to external flash drives.
Would love to have an external SSD drive with substantial capacity which operates solely on USB power. One nice feature on a cost basis is that it would not need to be especially fast since the bus itself is so limited, so it seems reasonable that there is a scramble going on as I type by vendors seeking to fill this price sensitive niche for all the new Air owners. A relatively slow form of SSD drive would suffice, even something along the lines of a large capacity ordinary thumb drive might be good since the USB bus itself is so limited in speed.
My goal would be something fast enough to saturate all the speed the USB 2 port is capable of, which renders most of the slower ordinary USB thumb drives "not good enough".
Some of the latest USB 3 capable thumb drives might be just the ticket; maybe even several small ones. I can see having one on each side of the Air (balanced with care!). A small flexible dongle would be good in this regard because it could cause serious damage to have a thumb drive's leverage cranking on the USB port of such a thin light device.
Ideally the storage devices would be of the 128 Gb or larger range so as to be able to fit things like Aperture and iTunes libraries.
Of course they will be slow with the Air but they will be portable and functional in a pinch. There would still be speed where it would be needed most, which would be updating that type of database from one's main machine, since the use on the Air would for many of us be modest access to the data.
So you'd have a device which is fast to sync up from your main machine, and as fast and light and nimble as possible for use with the Air on the road where no power is available.

One of the enclosures which feature USB2 and FireWire 800 ports would be great, but many of the ones I am seeing seem to be larger than the USB only models. Of course there's more going on inside those cases that also have FireWire on their boards, but if there's a super slim one out there somewhere that would be cool to know about. This new 750 Gb 7200 RPM drive in a case that can use the speed would be interesting:
    http://www.hitachigst.com/internal-drives/mobile/travelstar/travelstar-7k750
The new 320 Gb 7mm drive is also compelling for it's minimal size and the fact that it's a 7200 RPM model too, but of course it has less capacity. It will be interesting to see if it has less drain on the battery; in that regard, a single platter slower spindle speed drive would have the most advantage in theory but this one brings speed and a lighter thinner single platter design to the table so it's pretty interesting. In a form fitted super slim case it would be nifty
    http://www.hitachigst.com/internal-drives/mobile/travelstar/travelstar-z5k320
Goal: obtain the fastest speed from a desktop Mac or MacBook Pro with FireWire 800 to the drive, then using the drive via USB with the Air with minimal power draw and a small physical size. I'm certainly not alone in this desire, the sheer lack of size of the 11" Air is such a game changer that smaller add ons become that much more compelling for maximum mobility.
It's like the first time I used a Duo, or the 1400, or the 2400, or the 12" PowerBook, only a LOT better! I've used almost every model over the years and dismantled them all too, my first PowerBook was almost 20 years ago. Been using the 11" non stop for 2 days now and I still bust out laughing every time I fire it up.

  • Program grinds to a halt.

Videos and photos entered into the timeline of a 45 minute project.  Narration halfway done when study slowing of responce finally stopped work.  Any way to cleanup the work so I can finish the project?

    RDH140
I agree with SG regarding the benefits of appropriate photo sizing for your video project(s).
However, I did want to contribute some considerations in your specific case.
Depending on computer resources, Premiere Elements 11 and 12 on Windows 7 and 8 (and probably 8.1) 64 bit can tolerate use of some photos that go beyond the "not to exceed" classical recommendations of 1000 x 750 for SD and about 2200 x 1238 for HD. However, each must define his/her own limits and, if problems, then reconsider the classical recommendations for photo sizing. Assuming that you have been there and done that and it did not help....
    You wrote early on
    Photos are 4608X3456....  Timeline Rendered
Each time you render the Timeline, the program automatically generates preview files. For HD (whether photos or videos), the file generated is MPEG2.mpg (with a companion .xmp file). These can eat up a considerable amount of hard drive space.
    a. where are your video previews directed in preferences, Local Disk C or external hard drive?
    b. do you have a pile up of preview files in the Adobe Premiere Elements Preview Files Folder wherever it is?
    c. have you done a cleanup of the preview files, conformed audio and video files?
In all of your issue have you gotten a specific low memory message or is it that the program slows down considerably?
There is a difference between low free hard drive space and low memory. And, I do not see in your thread that you have mentioned low memory messages from the program.
    Just some things to consider.

  • Slow Performance Forms 10g !!!!

    Hi,
I have migrated several forms from 6i to 10g and i use a 11g Database.
Most of the users accessing from different countries complain of slow performance but the basic idea of migration is to get a better performance. My users mostly work on laptops.
I am unable to find where the problem is. Is this might be due to network traffic since they are accessing via internet or any server related issues. Please help me to find and fix the problem and is there any tips for gaining better performance in using forms 10g.
    Regards,
    Suresh

So, were they running on 6i via laptop and accessing via the internet before you migrated ? (ie: was it 6i client server or 6i web forms)
Did you migrate the database too ?
Slow performance as in : it used to be seconds and now it's taking minutes ?
