Slow Framerate video games on Bootcamp XP

Lately I have been running some video games on the XP side of my Partitioned Hard Drive. I was playing one game when my Screen flickered then changed to a new colored resolution sort of thing. After the game crashed I reloaded the game and could not run the game at the quality I was running it at. Perhaps It is a Graphics card issue? None of my other games run well either. Help, Please?

I had no problems running Win XP Pro with Boot camp beta. I played BF2 and COD4 online using only medium settings. I'm upgrading from Safari to Leopard as soon as I get a chance and I'm going to repeat everything again. I managed to keep 17 processes including the game and teamspeak.
I used a Zboard, Logitech G5 mouse, Logitech 3D joystick. Only reason I had to ditch the XP partition was to free up more space for film editing. Otherwise everything ran smoothly with minor tweaks here and there for online game performance, but thats just personal taste. Battlefield 2 16 man, 32 man, and 64 man servers either in a helo or jet made no difference even comparing to my alienware laptop. The x1600 card blew away my nvidia geforce 6800 go 256Mb on graphics.
The system I ran this with was a 20" 2.0 intel core duo, 2G RAM, x1600 Vid as mentioned above and PC peripherals. Got my Mac spring of '06. All gone off without a hitch. So i'd go with Win XP Pro. I want the new iMac with the nvidia for DX 10 for Crysis.

  • Slow Video Games & Fullscreen In-Computer Video Files

I have a HP p6310f Desktop with Windows 7.  It's only a little more than a year old.  I have had no problems with it before; but now I am having slight issues.
Whenever I pull up a PC game with 3d graphics (even if I have the game set on the lowest definition settings), I get a really slow framerate, which makes the game pretty much un-playable.
Also when I try to pull up a video saved on my machine in full screen on Windows Media Player, the video slows waaay down and the audio and video don'y match.  However, this doesn't happen with DVDs.
I think I have a great graphics card and plenty of RAM, so i don't really understand why this is happening.  I defragment my computer once a week, and I have more than half of my memory free.  I'm paranoid that something is wrong with my computer, and would be really grateful if someone could help me out.

    Hi,
If you don't have any restore points to go back to then someone has tampered with your PC. The Windows restore point process is set active by default.
Backup your data to external media (usb drive) and then use the HP Recovery Disks to bring your PC back to factory fresh condition.  If your PC has never been connected to the internet then it's missing a lot of critical and highly recommended updates.  Review these HP updates  and once you do get connected to the internet then you will have many Microsoft updates.
Off the cuff I would start with a video driver update and then a bios update.
Another looming issue in the background is that the motherboard in your PC has a bad history.

  • Video Games with Boot Camp

Is it possible on a macbook pro (the latest model) while running bootcamp (Mac OSX 10.6 snow leopard; Windows Vista) to play video games intended for PC's like say Fallout 3 or Battlefield Bad Company 2 on the Windows Vista side of the Macbook Pro and not have any problems like slower FPS or glitches? I've checked Alienware and Macbook Pro components (processors and graphic cards) and they are both very similar, so the Macbook Pro would run like a gaming oriented system. Is this true?

Well, I don't want to mis-diagnose your problem... but it sounds like a video card hardware issue to me.
I for one have Boot Camp installed on my MacBook Pro. I have 45GB for Windows, the rest for OS X, and not having enough HD space... I have a 500GB Seagate SATA II drive in a Vantec NexStar 3 drive enclosure. Currently, I plug the HD in via USB 2, but I've ordered the eSATA card online and should have that in the next few days. I've also used a firewire 400 external drive, btw.
I've installed Tomb Raider Legend, as well as Half Life 2: Episode 1 on the external. Both games play fine, and other than lag from running the games at 1400x900 with all the options turned onto high... they play perfectly. With HL2, I turned the filtering down to 2x, and that helped some. I've barely played any Tomb Raider, as I've got that on my primary PC... but I'm looking forward to playing Far Cry again (beat the game months ago) on the MacBook Pro and see how that looks.
The MacBook Pro is an AMAZING PC IMHO, as it continues to do nearly everything I can throw at it well. If it isn't working that way for you, then have an Apple representative take a look while it's still under warranty. Hopefully your unit will be fixed soon.
In the meantime, best wishes and have a great night!

  • 64MB Video Ram in Bootcamp?

Why is my Bootcamp's VRAM only 64MB when my Mac states it has 512MB?
On the website 'Can You Run It', this low VRAM is what's making my games fail the recommended.
    HERE ARE MY SPECS:
Processor  2.9 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory  8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics  Intel HD Graphics 4000 512 MB
I can still play games on Bootcamp (Battlefield 3, GTA 4... and even much older games) but they lag upon turning up to even medium settings.
    Mac games run perfectly, though.
How do I fix this problem?

    it's called shared video memory
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shared_graphics_memory
your video card have 64MB video memory and can then "borrow" the slower system ram and use it for video memory

  • Can't type anything if i'm in a video game

Hello, since yesterday I have a really big issue, when I try to type something on skype while a video game is running in the background, it just doesnt work. There's a sort of huge latency that happens only on skype, others softwares such as firefox or steam aren't affected and work well.
Skype works perfectly when no game is running, same when I'm running little games such as counter strike source or Minecraft. It starts bugging when I play games with huge graphics (heroes of the storm or marvel heroes).
I really have no idea what to do about it, this problem is really weird because it happened for no reason (I didnt download anything), the games works extremly smoothly so there's no reason for skype to slow down (only 3,5go out of my 8go of ram is used and only 30% of the CPU is used when I play so it's not struggling). And i've tried everything, cleaning the hard disk, reinstal windows... But nothing works :/
So basically, I can't type messages when I'm playing video games because skype decides to slow down for a really unknow reason... If any of you had the same trouble, could you tell me what's going on, please
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Hi there, im also having this problem, i tried running most of the games on my system, and some that are considered "high end" games, are giving me the exact same problem, but other games are running and im able to message fine, i also got some friends to send me messages, and i can recieve messages perfectly, also i noticed moving the actual window around on the screen or just closing down skype also lags. I have 16GB of ram and 4.4Ghz Octa-Core CPU, i checked my load while on the high end games and it there was more than enough hardware usage left like normal for skype to run, and skype wasnt taking any extra up than before. I also checked by bandwidth and i was having no problems with that as skype would lag even on offline games.
I have tried re-installing under a different directory and still the same problem persists, this has only been a problem within the last 24hrs and i haven't installed any other programs that could affect this at the moment.
*UPDATE* I tried downgrading to an older version of skype, 6.3.0.107. Problem Still persists

  • Slow FrameRate in Html/Js Air Application

    Hi all,
I noticed a slow framerate in pages using air2 with Html/Js. For example, when I open a youtube page and play the video within, it seems to go a little jerky (surely <= 30fps). I tried even with a blank window, without other elements.
Is there a way to set a specific framerate for Html apps? (i know there's a simple way with flex apps).
    Thanks

    Thanks, I did it using:
    nativeWindow.stage.frameRate = 60; // default was 24 fps

  • Wave in slow motion video type

Hi.When i use slow motion video type, it is some waves in the picture and i think its because of a problem.but when i use video type there is not any wave.
what is the problem and what should i do?

Thanks for your reply.  My source footage consists of MTS files from an AVCHD camcorder.  The files are 1080i anamorphic, so 1440x1080, with an aspect ration of 1.333 and a framerate of 29.97fps.  I used one of the AVCHD sequence templates in Premiere CS5 that matched the video files.
I'm exorting using the H.264 Bluray preset for 1080i.  I tried several of the profiles (1080p, etc), but they all end with the same bad result.  The video plays, but seems to be playing at half speed.  My 15-minute clip takes 30 minutes to play, even though the timline in VLC or WMP reports at 15 minutes.  The audio sounds fine, but stops after 15 minutes (as it should).  It's obviously out of sync, since the video is playing at half speed.
I have read a few other articles indicating it might be an issue with the way Premiere is interpreting the interlaced footage from the MTS files?  This is beyond my area of knowledge.
When I encode using the MPEG-2 Bluray profile, it works fine.  The video playback speed is normal.
My end goal is to edit my MTS files from the camcorder, encode using the H.264 profile, and place in an MKV container for playback on my XBMC-based HTPC.  I'm also considering exporting as a high-bitrate MPEG-2, then using another encoder (HandBrake, etc.) to create the x264 MKV.  Any other recommendations would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

  • Graphic Settings for MBP Video Games

I am trying to play some video games for PC on my macbook using wineskin.  The game plays, but there is some lag during the singleplayer verisions of my games.  I just wanted to know if anyone could help me with what the optimal settings would be to make my game run smooth.  I have checked google for about 3 days, and could not get and answer.  I have a 15'' Macbook Pro with 2.0ghz intel quad core i7, with an AMD Radeon HD 6490M graphics card, and 8gb of ram.  Thanks.

The heart of Wineskin being able to run Windows programs is Wine.... and while Wine is getting better all the time, it still cannot run everything, and thins it can run are not always perfect.
In Windows a DirectX game has direct access to your GPU... DirectX is only available on Windows and Xbox because of Microsoft... so Wine has to basically convert on the fly Direct3D calls to OpenGL to actually run.  These extra overhead can slow down DirectX games quite a bit in some cases, though in some its barely noticeable.  What specifically you should tweak?  noone knows, you just have to do some trial and error and see what happens.  The biggest killer in performance is usually the resolution.  People get 1680x1050 screens and try to play all their games that gigantically... also making sure you take vsync off can help in some cases as well, as it usually will not work anyways.

  • Slow/Jerky Video with kt6v\sempron 2400\geforce mx400

    Hello!
I'm hoping someone out there has seen this problem before and can point me in the right direction for how to solve it.  I am putting this system together for my sister.  Here are the system's credentials:
    msi kt6v mainboard
    amd sempron 2400 processor
    256 meg ddr ram, 400mhz
nvidia gforce mx400 agp display adaptor  64meg
western digital caviar 20 gig hard drive
generic (comp usa) 52x ide cdrom drive
    lucent pci lt win modem
windows xp pro  with service pack 2
Mainboard bios has recently been upgraded to  recognize the sempron cpu.
Cpu freqency in cmos is set to 166mhz.  (is this the correct setting?)
    The problem:
When playing various video games, such as Carnival Cruise Lines Tycoon, Trailer Park Tycoon, or The Sims (all of which are great games, btw), the video is extremely choppy/jerky.  It doesn't play smoothly at all.  But it SHOULD!   As a test, if I replace that video card with an  FX5200 personal cinema, it works great!  (but there's no way I'm going to give my sister that fx5200 card!  I need the mx400 to work in this machine.)   I can put that gforce mx400 in another machine (kt4v with amd 2200xp) and it works great.  So this tells me the problem should not be with the display adaptor nor the kt6v mainboard.  But is there a compatability problem between the two?  Is there a setting I've overlooked?  I'm thinking this is probably an issue with the display drivers or the mainboard drivers, I just don't know.  I've spent the last 3 nights trying to figure this one out.  This has me stumped.
Anyone else seen this same problem and know the fix?  Also, anybody know what the recommended cmos settings are on the kt6v  when using the mx 400 display adaptor and the sempron 2400 cpu?  What are the recommended drivers/versions for this mainboard and display adaptor?
    Thanks!!!!!

    No
the GF2 came in mx200, mx and mx400.

  • Problems with Fios and video games.

    Hi,
I switched from Time Warner Cable to Fios last month and I've been having problems with my internet going down on ALL computers whenever ONE of them plays a game online.  I know it sounds strange, but as far as we can tell, it's only caused by video games.  Basically, whenever a game such as Counter-Strike is started, the internet will go down on every computer for about 5 minutes.
I called tech support and they had me unplug the Actiontec router and plug the cable directly into my computer.  When we tried Counter Strike again it worked with no problems.  The guy said the problem is a known bug with the router they gave me, but since the TV service needs the router, I can't use my old router that works fine!  I switched to Fios and waited through the 6 hour install because I thought it was supposed to be faster, but it never works!
I don't want to pay the termination fee to cancel, but I need my internet to work.  Anybody have any ideas??

So I guess this is a well known problem then.  I followed the instructions from that site and used my own router with the Verizon router plugged in.  The internet worked for the computers, but when I tried showtime on demand it was a no-go.  It looks like alot of people had success with this so I'll try again when I get back from work later today.  Thanks for the help.
It's really sad that Verizon makes us go through all this hassle just go get a working internet connection.  My friend was going to switch when I showed him how many more HD channels I had now, but when I told him about the internet problems he changed his mind.  I would have waited too if I knew they still had bugs.

  • Upgraded Computer Routinely Crashes when playing Video games

I had an "HP Pavilion HPE-150f Desktop PC" for a few years, but about a year and a half ago, I upgraded the graphics card and the power supply. My new power supply was a Corsair TX 650, and my new graphics card was an
ATI Radeon HD6970 Sapphire. Everything went fine until about a month ago (so I had about a year of smooth sailing with this setup).
Usually after 5-10 mins of playing any video game, my computer starts getting hic-hupc (visual and audio lag, as well as input lag), and crashes soon after.
This problem tends to happen most when playing video games, but it also happens at random times when I am not doing anything demanding on my computer.
I get short bits of lag (visual, and sound lag). It starts up at distanced intrevals, but slowly gets more frequent. Eventually, the computer either freezes, or I get a blue screen.
I have cleaned up the dust in my computer numerous times. It didn't really help.
I have updated drivers after doing a full system restore on my computer (along with updating other windows related things), that did not help either.
I thought getting the drivers updated had solved my problem, but when I was playing a video game today I ran into the same issue. Which video game it is is not really a detail, since this happens with almost all games.
I had originally thought this was related to CPU temperatures, but I installed a program that monitors that and everything was within the 40-50 degree range. I'm told this is normal from my friends who get higher temperatures and yet do not run into this problem.
    I'm on windows 7.
I will provide more info if needed. This problem has been ongoing for a few months now.
    TL;DR:
Computer randomly starts lagging-up/freezing. I sometimes get a blue screen and I sometimes don't (meaning I have to restart the machine myself).
Problem happens more often when I am gaming, but it can also happen randomly at any given time.
Thanks in advance to any who can help.
In the next post I will give some info about my machine.

Here is the info of what I have:
    1. Intel Core I7 (It also says: "860 @2.80GHz 2.80Hz" in the ControlPanel->System and Security -> System tab)
    2. ATI Radeon HD6970 Sapphire
    3. Win7 64bit
    4. Driver for Catalyst: Version 12.104.0.0 (for the GPU)
    5. Corsair TX 650
    6. 8.00 GB of RAM
    7. i) The computer did come with the OS (win7 64bit), but it wasn't updated. To update it, I went to the search bar in the START menu and typed something along the lines of "Windows update", which took me to a seperate window, where I could let the computer update itself.
ii) The original product did not have the Power Supply it currently has, or The graphics card it currently has. I bought those two myself to modify the machine.
The original product was a "HP Pavilion HPE-150f Desktop PC". I believe that is the name for it. The System tab in control panel simply says "HPE-150f"
    8. Monitor resolution 1920x1080, connected by DVI connector.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.
I also used a program called Speccy, which gives you info about your computer.
    About my BIOS, Speccy said:
    Brand:    American Megatrends Inc.
    Version: 5.15
    Date:     25/06/2010
So I went to the following site and updated my BIOS:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=ca&dlc=en&lc=en&os=4063&product=4120554&softw...
It didn't help anything, I still get the exact same crashing.
Lastly, here is an image of the blue screen I am getting:
I also made a thread on the AMD support forums for my GPU's manufacturer, That thread can be found here:
    http://forums.amd.com/game/messageview.cfm?catid=443&threadid=167863&enterthread=y
Thanks in advance to any who can help. I can provide more info if needed.

Flash should be able to publish an html page which will provide the web page code needed for embedding the swf.  The page it publishes should be sufficient for planting on a server unless you plan to dress it up with other content as well.
As far as incorporating Flash content into a PDF using InDesign goes, you are best to ask questions about using InDesign in the InDesign forum.  Here is a link to the Overview page whee you can pick which forum applies best to your situation:

  • Error with Adobe Acrobat and video game

I initially installed Adobe Acrobat on my macbook pro and now it won't allow me to open the program. Then, last night I attempted to install a video game and got the following error "sorry an error has occurred while launching the installer. (findFolder-36)" and I can't for the life of me figure out how to get these programs to work. Has anyone experienced the same type of problem? If so, how did you fix it
    Thanks a bunch!

First of all thanks for responding.
The installed version of Adobe's Adobe OS X and Windows XP machines is thelatest patch level.
The local system .... works well ... Open Office 2010 ... create a new Word document and save it locally ... and all good.
The problem is though that same machine ... it enters network (not Windows network. OES2 is a network with Novell network client) ... and to open and create a new document to WORD .... when printing the PDF printer ... select a network drive... and when the document is saved well ... but it shows the error.
I have an amount of hours lost with this ... I hope you can help me find a solution.
    Thank you very much.
