Slow HTTPS site

One HTTPS site (Member.ghc.org) preforms very slowly(60-90 sec page loads) and submitting a long form dumps me back to the login screen. This works the same in Safari and Firefox. I have NetBarrier4 (10.4.3) installed. This site is listed as trusted and banners are turned off. A PC on the same router, DSL modem and IP works fine in both Firefox and IE. Any suggestions as to cause and cure?

Just ensure that the service account that you use to trigger the Powershell scripts has access to IIS and SharePoint.  Most often, the SharePoint Farm account would be used for scheduling the warm up scripts on the WFE server.
I trust that answers your question...
Thanks

  • HTTPs Sites Slow to load on Single Server 2008 R2 Box

    Hello All,
I have an issue with our new server where https sites are slow to load or do not load at all in IE 9 or Google Chrome. Using Firefox any page loads fine. I have tested many things, reinstalled IE, downgraded to IE8, upgraded to IE10, checked
the forums, tested SSL settings and still get the same issue.
For example if I open IE, navigate to google.com I will get a "waiting for google.com" that will sometimes take 5 minutes to load; the same behavior is noticed on Google Chrome but not Firefox. I did notice that if I installed google.com
SSL certificate that the page would load normally. I have tested the same method on another Server 2008 R2 box with no issues. I am not sure what the issue could be. Any ideas or direction would be greatly appreciated since this is directly affecting business

    Thank you!

As Google Chrome is using some IE settings, it might be normal to have a similar behavior.

  • Https sites very slow on HH3 ....an idiot posts...

    Hi
I'm an idiot as you shall see.
After having spent some considerable time reading this and other forums I think my problem is summed up as:
    - HH3 been happily operating for some time but after several months an issue started to develop.  Any secure site, (shopping, banking, work log on etc )suddenly takes an age to load and eventually they start to time out
    - all devices experience the same effect at the same time - desktop, laptop, ipad
    - turn off HH3 for a few minutes and then on again and lo and behold they speed along for a few days until they start to slow down and so on through a repeating pattern.
From what I've been reading turning it off and on again isn't clever in the long run as your line 'looks' worse to the BT guru exchange thingy which may downgrade your speed (ours ADSL typically 5M) and I'd obviously not want that to happen.... it's also a pain in the backside to keep wandering around the house to flick the switches.
Cue lots of browsing and my idiot interpretation leads me to think I should be doing something clever with port-forwarding(?)  Looking at the hub manager it looks like I could choose https and direct it to A device (say the laptop) BUT...
1- does this mean that going forwards ONLY the laptop would be able to access the https sites?
2- can I open the https to more than one device in the hub manager
3- am I completely barking up the  wrong tree and I should be looking at something else entirely?
As per my intial comments this isn't my forte at all so if any help could be in really basic terms I'd be grateful.....

    This is rather odd....
The differences between https and http happens at a different (higher) part of the network stack to either Wi-Fi or ADSL, so it seems at first thought unlikely that the HH is the root cause. On the other hand for it to happen on all your devices suggests that it is not an OS issue (which is where I would have thought this would lie) - which points us back to the HH as the common failure point.
One thing that does occur to me is that a few years back I had a router that would lose connectivity whenever I tried to open a RealPlayer stream forcing me to restart it - this was resolved when I replaced the router, which tells me that router faults can sometimes be triggered by specific network protocols.  This makes me suspect you might have a fault in your hub. The first thing to try is a factory reset to rule out a software or configuration issue - if that does not help then it may be hardware related, but the only way to verify that is to replace the hub (or ideally borrow one for a bit).
Port forwarding will not help you as that is a way of allowing incoming connection requests to be handled by a server on your network - wheras your browser makes outgoing requests, and I suspect you are not running any servers on your network. In any case it would do nothing to address the underlying fault.

  • ALL HTTPS SITES LOAD EXTREMELY SLOW - WHY?

I am running windows xp + firefox 17 - any https site loads very slowly , while in other browsers no problem at all.

If you reset Firefox or otherwise cleared the cache/preferences, the SPDY setting may have been saved/stored. You can try to '''Clear Now''' the '''Cache''' and '''Site Preferences''' with '''Time range to clear''' set to '''Everything''' via '''Tools''' ('''Alt''' + '''T''') > [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Clear%20Recent%20History Clear Recent History] and check each time after enabling and disabling.

  • Can only connect to HTTPS (secure) sites and can't connect to HTTP sites

In short I CAN ONLY connect to HTTPS sites, meaning secure.
I've narrowed this down to an issue regrading my mac book pro and the wireless router.
    Router:
    - not sure of the make model
    - other computers CAN connect to this router and go online
    My Mac:
    - Mac Book Pro
    - OS X 10.6
    - I can connect to other wireless networks just fine
    - I can surf the web for about 10 minutes or so then it blocks ALL http traffic
and i'm only allowed to https sites
going to a http site results in a "page is taking to long to respond"
    please anything?

The router is a Verizon MI424WR
hope that helps, but i doubt it will...
just to also clairfy http sites either go really slow then time out only never to come back, https are blazing fast

  • Https sites not displaying correctly

Here's an interesting problem thats cropped up on a couple of machines here. Hopefully someone else has found the cause!
The problem is that some HTTPS sites are not displaying correctly. We have seen this with vimeo, and with wetransfer. I have included a screenshot of the issue on both safari and on chrome.
Cross checks i've been able to verify:
another machine with the same OS (10.8.5) looking at the same sites is fine and another running 10.9.4 is not, so this appears not to be OS or browser version related.
this does not happen in a different user account on the same machine, so the issue appears to be in the user home.
this happens across all browsers in this user account. so it appears to be a supporting technology or cache going wrong rather than a specific browser.
I have emptied the user preferences, and cache folders with no change.
Clearly i can sidestep this by creating a new user home, but that isn't actually getting to the bottom of what is going wrong, and it would be better to identify the issue!

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Slow HTTPs response time through CSS after applying KB2585542 to windows client

Anyone else having issues with HTTPS sites being very slow after applying KB2585542?   Once you remove this Microsoft patch everything returns to normal.   It appears that the CSS does not handle the split-ssl requests properly.  I have opened a TAC case but am not really getting anywhere as we seem to be the only company that is having this issue.

  • Problem: Slow Intranet Sites/Internal DNS Resolution for only AD Users

    Hello,
We are experiencing a very odd problem.
Any and All Active Directory users are experiencing very slow intranet sites.
We are a school corporation, so this is affecting our Student Information System, as it is entirely web-based and locally hosted.
All of our Domain Controllers are Windows Server 2012 R2, with all the latest critical updates.
All client workstations are Windows 8.1 Professional.
The problem occurs with ALL web browsers (IE, Chrome, FF, etc)
All DNS queries respond in <1 ms (no matter whether we are logged in as AD User or local computer user).
If we login as local computer user, we have blazing fast intranet sites/DNS resolution.
If we login as AD user, everything crawls again... every click on the intranet site spins and says loading for up to 15 seconds.
If we add the the intranet site to the local computer HOST file, it is blazing fast, just as if we logged on as local computer user.
If we take it back out of the HOST file, it drags again.
    I am totally stumped!
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    How are DNS settings configured?
If there are any public DNS IP addresses in Preferred or Alternate field, please remove them, then input these DNS entries in the Advanced section. We should only configure Domain Controllers’ IP addresses on Preferred
and Alternate DNS server section for domain-joined machines.

    Hi Srini,
Check the job overviews and spools using T code SM37.  Verify that there were no errors when running AJAB and AJRW.  Also, check the last fiscal year closed for each Comany Code using T code OAAQ.
Some clients are kept more up-to-date than others.  For example, the Development and Quality clients may not be as up-to-date as the Production client.  Verify that depreciation ran for all months up to the closed fiscal year (if not ran, will see error in SM37), and verify that all previous years have been closed (last closed fiscal year can be seen in OAAQ).
    Hope this helps!

  • Problems with receiving error message "This Connection is Untrusted" for any https sites. On version 17.0.1 of firefox. IE does not get error.

whenever I go to an https site, I get this error message. My other browsers are not having the same issue. I deleted cert8.db as one site suggested. Stopped using firefox due to this issue. example: www.comcast.net, once I sign into email, I get this error message. Amazon.com - same issue. So, these are very common sites. This only started in past two weeks.

Does updating to Firefox 18 (which comes out today) help? It fixed a few issues with certificates.

  • Unable to authenticate to https sites using ntlmv2 on Mac OS 10.6 and Firefox 11.0

I am using a Mac with OS X 10.6. The Firefox version is 11.0.
we cannot authenticate to https:// sites that require NTLMv2. We were able to use Firefox on the Mac to authenticate to https:// sites until our organization dropped NTLMv1 and required the use of NTLMv2. The problem on the PC was corrected by using the NTLM plugin but we have never managed to correct the problem on the Mac. The operating system does not appear to be the problem since Safari can authenticate to these sites. I have added the https:// url to the network.negotiate-auth.delegation-uris, network.negotiate-auth.trusted-uris and the network.automatic-ntlm-auth.trusted-uris parameters (which is necessary to correct the problem on the PC). After reading the thread about ntlmv2 authentication in Lion I also set network.automatic-ntlm-auth.allow-proxies and network.negotiate-auth.allow-proxies to false but I still can't authenticate. I also tried creating an nsmb.conf file in /etc with minauth=ntlmv2

    Hi
Thanks for the posts. I set network.ntlm.send-lm-response to TRUE but the behavior was the same. I changed https:// to http:// and made sure there were no trailing /'s but still cannot authenticate

  • Haveing problems with Safari. It gives me an error message. Safari can't open the web page, because it can't establish a secure connection to the server. It only seams to have a problem on https sites. Any help would be apreciated.

It only seams to have a problem with https sites.
    Any help would be appreciated

The "s" in "https" indicates the site is a secure server--usually a site that will require a password.  Connections to secure servers can be blocked by parental controls.  Are you using any parental controls, either through OSX's settings (in System Preferences) or third party parental control software (such as Netnanny)?  If so, check the settings to make sure they will allow the connection.
