Slow in Tampa Bay FL?
Is anyone else in N Tampa Bay FL having FiOS Speed issues right now? I have 75/35 and its been great up until a couple of hours ago. Now it's
... and that aint right. I've done all I could (reboot the router, & everything on my network) I dread getting on the phone with the drones.
And what the heck good is that VZ in home agent? That thing is more than worthless. I expected it to actually run some tests, maybe tell me there was a known outage. Instead it just says 'You be connected', and when I tell it the connection is slow, it tells me other crud that is non applicable. I quickly uninstalled that thing.
Run WinMTR and see if it is able to pick up say, a bad link that is occurring to a site you're seeing slow speeds to: http://winmtr.net/

Bad ping to most gaming servers the past 2 weeks. (Tampa Bay Area)
The past week in a half Ive been getting horrible ping to servers. Verizon says its on the servers side, but its not just to one server, its to every server hosted in Newyork/ chicago. Also I dont see everyone in the servers complaining about their connection. I did a tracert on one server and here are the results. But keep in mind Im getting bad ms to almost every game server I connect to. On this particular server I always got a constant 40ms, till about a week in a half ago since this happened. Would getting a different ISP help this cause or i'll just be wasting my time and money?So a couple of things to note with your trace.
The latency between hops 2 and 3 suggests either connection or ICMP De-proritization if those two hops live in Tampa Bay. If they do not, this is suggestive of either MPLS being used (meaning that hop is really showing the ping of a hop further into the trace due to a tunnel established across the routers) or the hop with higher latency exists closer to Miami.
From there, the latency between Hops 3 and 5 is very good, assuming that is truly running from Tampa Bay to Miami by following a highway route. If both hops exist in Miami, that suggests a loaded circuit, but one that is not facing severe congestion.
Recently, it has been observed that Verizon stopped sending Traffic from Tampa Bay, to Miami, and then ride Verizon Business/UUNet to Atlanta. GA. Instead they "hot potato" all of the traffic off to other transit providers and ISPs in Miami. This is where the problem starts. Between Hops 5 and 6, we see a 200+ jump in latency. With latency this big between two bandwidth providers, this means the circuits are beyond saturated. They are 100+/100% on capacity and are in dire need of upgrading. Typically, these interconnects are several 10Gbps Ethernet links. Not hard to congest, but hard to get to show that kind of latency.
So what this means is one of few things. Either Verizon needs to stop playing games and help Telia upgrade the interconnectivity between each other, or Telia needs to help Verizon by opening up additional ports. Alternatively, this is likely a case where someone didn't approve of a capacity augment when shifting all traffic from Atlanta to Miami as a handover zone.
Needless to say, I'm sure we can all guess who is at blame here for that capacity problem. This is the same symptom many of us saw between Level3 and Verizon, both of whom are Tier 1 providers. TeliaSonera International and Verizon are also both Tier 1. Verizon, having a residential presence at the problem, likely has all circuits from Telia to Verizon running at max. In TeliaSonera's home country, Sweden, you'd likely see the exact opposite. -
Facebook Extremely Slow from Tampa, FL from 6pm-11pm EST
I believe this is a problem with the route because when I use a different connection i get to facebook just fine.. It's super fast on other ISPs and even faster over 3G, than it is on my fios connection.. Here is my trace out to FB during a slow period. The first ping spike is on the 8th hop. ATL1.gblx.net

OH and oddly enough, when Facebook is slow, if I go to speedtest.verizon.net and choose Georgia as the test region, my download speed is 456kb/s... Very slow. Here is a speed test that I performed during a slow period: Look how low the inbound speed is compared to outbound.

Sending Text Messages Issue- Tampa
Is anyone having problems sending text messages? I can receive text. Data and voice are working. I am in the Tampa bay area. (Brandon/Riverview to be specific)
Hi mufasawc. Let's get to the bottom of these messaging troubles right away. When you say the green arrow is there for a while, how long is a while? Depending on the message length, if there's any attachments, and the signal strength on your phone a message can take anywhere from a few seconds up to 2 minutes to send at times. I'm glad the messaging on Facebook and Chatheads is working out alright, but those will go through your data network a little differently than text. Did the errors on your Droid 4 start after a particular application was installed? If you haven't already, try deleting some of the messages and threads http://vz.to/18APRgp on your phones to help clear up message memory. If you still have the error, please reply with the exact error your getting too.

URGENT! Alive PDF - export PDF file ("my computer" prompt to save the file, not create in browser)
Hi - I'm having issues with my code and I'm not an ActionScript coder by any means. I'm using Flash Builder 4. I've been able to figure out how to export to PNG and to XLS but PDF is really killing me.
Below is my code and it's not causing errors when I do the release build but the my button doesn't work to export to PDF. I'm trying to create a PNG using the PNGEncoder and then push that out to PDF (when the PDF button is selected). I used some sample code and I've commented out parts that I didn't want to use or didn't seem to apply to my application. Unfortunately, I have a deadline of May 3rd on this and there is no one else in the office here to help me... hope someone out there can.

You have a challenging case since "Edge Advertising" appears to be a common business name with many other established websites for "Edge Advertising" or "Cutting Edge Advertising" businesses around the world.
First, I'm going to contradict Gaurav. I may be interpreting what I see on Google incorrectly, but it looks to me as though Google has indexed your site. It's a one page site. Correct?
A few things you'll want to do to improve the chances searchers will find your site:
1) Set the Page Title for your page in the Page Properties dialog. I recommend setting it to your business name. You might consider including Winnepeg in the page title, since that will increase the odds that someone looking for "Edge Advertising" in your area will find you, rather than the Edge Advertising in Washington, D.C., Tampa Bay, Fairport, NY, Houston Texas, etc.
2) You might consider putting your contact information where your copyright currently is.
3) Enter keywords for your page in the Page Properties dialog Metadata panel. Be sure to include Winnepeg and Manitoba (spelled out), along with your business name and the services you provide.
4) Pay special attention to where you apply h1, h2, h3 tags via paragraph styles. You should probably make the main "Edge Advertising" title the h1 for the page.
There are two primary factors to SEO, indexing and page ranking.

Finally, when you make a change to your site, if you submit your sitemap.xml file to Google using Webmaster Tools it theoretically will encourage Google to re-index your site sooner, though there's no guarantees how long it will take. -

I asked a similar question on apple discussions recently about breadcrumbs and that is the best anyone could come up with.
Dreamweaver does this kind of stuff automatically, although it is a lot harder to learn Dreamweaver than to play around with iWeb. -
Click handler in ItemRenderer on "hovered" state
Hey,
im trying to add Button to spark List itemRenderer and listen for click. If button is still there (not usin includeIn) it works.
But when it's just visible in "hovered" state, click is not dispatched. Is it bug? or can you let me know some workaround.

I just built a simple example with s:List and a custom renderer and a Button control only in the hovered state and it appears that after mouse down the state changes and the button disappears before the mouseUp happens. My workaround was to show the button in both the hovered and selected states.

As I said I have looked endlessly through tutorials and found everything except what I want. All the examples have been applets and I
have a JFrame with a JButton in it. ALL I WANT TO DO....Is make the button have an action (click on button - "Yo" is printed)
This seems impossible to me, surely someone here must know how to do it.... anyway here is what I have...

Anyone know how I can make this work, thanks!!You're getting the main error message because when you run a Java application, it's looking for the main method, which you don't have.

Premium Support for Sony's Vaio PC
I had an issue with my laptop not identifying any wifi locations, and so I called the Sony support number. I reached a pleasant lady in the Phillipines, who tried to help, but could not find the issue. I was able to connect via ethernet cable, so I permitted remote access. She tried a few things, but to no avail. She said she understood that I would be frustrated because I could not obtain wireless connectivity, and I could be referred up to an expert. She said there were two packages, an annual for $239 or monthly for $19.99. I specifically said I could not affor $239, and wanted to be sure the monthly was just month by month...one I could cancel. I agreed, as I was desperate, and gave them my Credit Card info. After that, an expert took over, again took control of my laptop, and tried the same steps as the intial responder, some of which I had tried myself! Since he couldn't locate the problem and needed to do more research, he suggested I disconnect the ethernet cable and restart...which is when I found out the issue was a windows update. Apparently, when connected by the cable but not in control of my laptop, the update downloaded. So, when I did a restart and it uploaded (took about 30 minutes), the wifi connectivity was restored. In any event, it wasn't until after I was able to review email that I saw my "contract", which was not as explained. If I terminate, I am subject to a 3 month minimum fee. This was never disclosed before I agreed, and since I could not read the terms without getting the email, I was clearly duped. I called to complain, saying I certainly the one fee of $19.99 as discussed, but had not agreed to the terms that were not disclosed before I received the terms and conditions attached to the email. I indicated that it was a fraudulent inducement to contract, that is, not telling me about a termination fee and leading me to believe it was a month to month deal. I said I couldn't really afford to pay 2 more months,and would have to close the credit card. The "supervisor" said Sony would sue me!! She said she would listen to the recorded conversation, and agreed to call me back in an hour. No such joy. I called back, and another "supervisor" said he would look into it, and call me back. Since I am retired with little income, and was getting upset, he said they were humans and understood I was elderly, so I should not be stressed. If, he said, there were "lapses" in the conversation, they would rectify the situation. The only lapse I fear they will find is my lapse of good sense in trusting someone when I was in the dire straits of computer failure. If they agree to not charge me the remaining 2 months, I will update this posting. Otherwise...I will be out $$39.98 on top of the $19.99 charge already pending on by card. Here is the final kicker...my husband bought the BackStage pass for use at the Tampa, FL location where we had been receiving excellent technical support - hands on!. Sadly, shortly after we renewed, they closed that store, and we were informed we would have to go from Tampa Bay to Orlando for service. While the pass would be expired by now, I have to say I am tired of paying for service I can't readily access, and then being charged for a service that was misrepresented.

Having problems with connectivity on IO7
Since the most recent upgrade for my iphone, IO7.4 my connectivity is spotty. I live in the tampa bay area of Florida. Before IO7 my connection was very good with SPRINT LTE. Now it is much more sporadic. I read some of the SPRINT forums about this and a technician for SPRINT pointed to apple and said that there was a software glitch causing this problem. I have peformed a dial up exercise to update the carrier build from the SPRINT side. Now I am checking fromt the apple side... So what I notice is that my reception with Pandora drops frequentlu which never happened before IO7. Also with google a lot times I cannot get a connection. Can you advise? TY.
I'm sorry you are having issues with connectivity on iOS 7. Have you tried resetting you network settings? If not try going into settings->general->reset->reset network settings. See if that helps.
