Slow iPlayer downloads and problem streaming

I bought a iPad 4 largely to use to surf the web and to download and stream from iplayer and itv player then broadcast to Apple TV via Airplay.
It has always been painfully slow trying to stream with lots of stuttering but it did work and downloads were OK - I could download 3 or 4 programs in an evening while web surfing. We recently upgraded our internet to 20MB/s and upgraded to iOS7 thinking that would fix it - it's now got worse!
Speedtest shows that I have a download speed around 4.3 to 4.8 MB/s - which is pretty similar to the speed on my boyfriends MacBook Pro over the same network.
However, the effective speed I get is more like <0.1 to max 1MB/s when downloading from iPlayer and it won't stream at all, buffers all the time and is totally pixilated. In contrast my boyfriends MacBook plays beautiful high res videos from the same site with no problem. We use a DNS service as we live in Malaysia but my boyfriend is using the same DNS on the same WiFi network through the same router with no problems. Trying to download a program it will start to count down time then jump up, then down a bit, then way up, mess around for a while then just sit at 'more than 3 hours' for the night
Being in Malaysia I am usually trying to load in UK mid-morning, which I wouldn't have expected to be the most peak time.
We have changed the route settings to disable QoS and MVV as suggested on here with no effect.
It's not in a case and I have it propped up near the router to try minimise any blockage of the signal.
Any ideas for why the iPad should be so much drastically slower at downloading and unable to stream (same problem with ITV player, no difference between using the Apps and the website) ? Any suggestions to fix?

I got same issue. any other solution to fix it . The advice solution is in vain. thx!
Issues:
While download programs, it began fast then slowly sometimes stop. The remaining timing will change from 2 min. to 1 hours.
My ISP is ok with 100MB . Anyone encounter the issues. thx
IPAD2
IOS8
Note: I install the BBC iplayer app on my smartphone with no issues. I also try to un/install the APP, but it is in vain.
thx!

is anyone with an iPhone 6+ experiencing slow download and slow video streaming online? I have had the iPhone 6 Plus and I've been experiencing my app is downloading a lot slower and being unable to stream videos online

I hope someone from Apple is monitoring this site. Three days apps will not update, iOS8.0. Support told me to update to iOS8.02. Can't do that over WIFI or Cell network. Supports tells me have to link to iTUNES and do this. That takes three trys. Did that. Apps still not updating. Read online that resetting network settings will help. Did that App's hanging and not updating.
Apple how does this happen. Night before iOS8.0 release you pull things because of some security issue. Then you have iOS8.01 fiasco and now this. Can someone get this right. We use these things for more than just phones now. FIX IT

• Slow after download and installing Aperture 3 on my Mac with OS X Lion 10.7.3. Have any one else same experience and an idea of how to solve the problem ?

My recently bought and up to date MacBook Pro 17" became very slow after downloading and installing Aperture 3. Is there onyone out there who have experienced the same problem and have an idea of how to go about fixing the problem ?

Are you experiencing the slowness only when you are running Aperture or all the time since you installed it?
Have you done anything with Aperture, imported images, iPhoto library etc?
How much memory is in your system? Did you have any external disks attached? How big and how much free space is there on your internal disk?

• Slow App Download and Install on iPod Touch

My new iPod touch is painfully slow when accessing the itunes store, dowloading and installing apps over my home WiFi. My iPad works just fine over the same connection. Meaning I can download and install an app to my iPad in seconds and it takes literally an hour to do the same thing on my new iPod Touch. Any ideas?

Have you tried downloading and installing apps on your iPad today though? Lots of people will have got new iOS devices today, and will all be trying to download apps form the Store at the same time - possibly causing it to be much slower than usual.

• ITunes store is extremely slow. Downloads and browsing the store is slow.

Prior to iTunes 7, I had no problems with iTunes whatsoever. Now, just like many other users, the iTunes store is unbelievably slow.
When I start up iTunes and select the iTunes store, it takes about 20 seconds to load up the store. If I try to preview a song, it instantly gives me the message "Network Stalled, Rebuffering Stream".
When I try and download anything, it is painfully slow. It takes about 15-20 minutes to download one song and movies and TV shows are impossible since they will eventually time out.
I even tried setting my router up using the OpenDNS addresses and iTunes is still slow. I contacted my ISP and they informed me that they are not blocking any ports associated w/ iTunes. Like I said, I had no problems with iTunes prior to iTunes 7.
This affects both my PC and my laptop. If I plug them directly into the internet without a router it's still the same issue. However, if I take my laptop over to a friend's house who has a different ISP it's completely fine and downloads fast again.
I've spoken with tech support for my ISP and they tell me there is nothing they can do, and to "hope that iTunes 8 comes out soon"
So, is there anything I can do on my side, other than the OpenDNS option since it doesn't work? I'm extremely angry at this situation and don't know why iTunes 7 changed something to where it conflicts with so many people's ISP.

Close your iTunes,
Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes, and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

• Apple tv 2 and problems streaming music only

i can stream video and photos with no problems from my ipad to apple tv, but when it comes to music i wil get a beat or two and then nothing for a few seconds then another beat or two. Both units are up to date i tried power both of then back on. i also checked the wifi conections and security setings on network and still nothing. any ideas???

This morning tried to play video I bought yesterday (Alan Jackson), it still plays (great) but the rest do not so I went into Settings, General, iTunes Store (turned OFF iTunes Match) then went to iCloud (waited for it to update) selected Music Videos, and some played only tried a couple (hooray) but others didnt, why?? Now I just went back to Settings, iTunes Store and turned ON iTunes Match (waited for it to update) and the video that played does not play now but the music video I bought yesterday still plays! Now I went into the iTunes Store changed the Video Resolution to Standard Definition (no difference) for slow connection (just to see but I have high speed Time Warner). I am at a loss....

• E4200 Slow Wireless download and Network File Sharing

When I first got the E4200 up and running I was able to transfer files from my wireless laptop to a wired laptop at speeds of over 2 MBps(distance was over 40 ft). Now I have both laptops running wireless and a desktop that is wired via ethernet to the 4200 router and network file sharing runs much slower. Right now network transfer speeds are around 500-550 kBps.
Wireless network speeds are being affected also. Wi-fi d/l speeds via Cisco speed test is usually 5-6x slower than my wired speed tests, with upload speeds being faster than the d/l speed(Laptop is only 2 feet away from router for testing). And sometimes the wireless d/l speeds will slow down all the way to .15 mbps.
Has anyone come across this problem and found a fix for it, or have some suggestions? The router settings are mostly default and I have reset it to factory defaults via web interface and tried power cycling. But nothing so far has worked. I would hate to have to return this router and go back to the wrt54g.

Ok, well I tried all these and changing the MTU down to 1365 made it run real slow, so I found out the optimal mtu and switched between auto and manual 1500, and auto gave me more consistent speeds. It does seem to be running a bit faster with the name change of the 5 ghz band, and changing the channel of the 2.4 ghz band(Name changing 2.4 band did not make any noticable differences).
Right now I am getting download speeds around 10 mbps on the vista laptop(wireless), while the windows 7 desktop(wired) and laptop(wireless) are usually around 5.3-6 mbps. File sharing between the windows 7 machines are 4.3 MBps and 2.9 MBps between vista laptop and W7 desktop. Upload speeds on all machines are around 7mbps.
I am happier with the more consistent speeds between all machines instead of really fast between just 2, but am confused to why the vista laptop is running faster and my upload speed is faster than the download speeds on 2 of my machines.

• Slow loading blog and problems with comments

I've had a number of visitors e-mail to say that my blog takes too long to load, that the page is "jumpy" when scrolling down the page, and that it may not allow the person to comment or when commenting the site unexpectedly closes.
I've tried viewing the site using a PC and I see these problems with Firefox. IE users can leave comments and the site loads a bit better but not ideal.
Are other users experiencing these problems?

Kathryn ~ You could try downsizing your images manually using, for example, the Preview app and choosing File > Save As... then reducing the Quality slider.
Or downsize them automatically via:
...which I haven't personally used. Also I don't know whether it works with iWeb '06.

• IPod touch 3g apps are slow to download, and iOS update is running slow

it's saying on my iTunes it's going to take 6 HOURS for the new iOS update on my 3g device.

You can try downloading the update directly:
iPod, iPhone and iPad Firmware Download
To install:
Manually install it by holding your "Option" key down when clicking on the "Restore" button in iTunes and select the firmware file you downloaded.
Downloading the update for my iPod and iPad alway took hours total with many time-outs.

• Why have Outlook emails slowed on download and sending?

Within the last couple of months, my eamil messages in Outlook, whether large or small, whether with or without attachments, have slowed considerably when sending. It used to be lightning fast with the I5 intel processor, but no more. Ideas?

• Brand new MacBook Pro has really slow download and streaming speeds

I'm new to Macs, and don't know much about computers in general. But I got a 13" MacBook Pro almost two weeks ago and have been experiencing really slow download and video streaming speeds. Pages load one image at a time, Netflix is almost impossible to use because the videos will stop buffering every five minutes even if I let them buffer for more than ten minutes. I haven't been experiencing any issues with wifi on my phone, and I've troubleshot our router. I'm not sure what it could be--but then again, I don't know a whole lot. Before I go running off to the Apple Store or call support, is there anything I can try in the meantime? Thanks!
Here are the system specs:
Processor 2.4 GHz Intel Core i5
Memory 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics Intel Iris
Software OS X 10.9.3 (13D65)
74.23 GB free out of 120.47 GB

Check with your isp regarding your download & upload speeds as well as streaming. You need to determine if the issue is on their end. You can also check on the speedtest.com website. Compare what your isp tells you to the net speed website.

• Good wireless in house, slow Apple TV in downloads and syncing. ATV issue?

OK - I just did a internet Ping test and bandwidth test and have found that my overall bandwidth is good, but my ATV is still very slow on downloads and syncing.
My bandwidth is over 6.6mbps and ping rates are nearly 45ms.
Here is my issue - I often have no images show up on ATV when I am browsing the movies. I also have to restart for lack of response to the remote about every other day, sometimes every day.
Am I looking at my wireless in the house (running Time Capsule) or is this an ATV issue? I have good overall connectivity and internet downloads via iTunes, etc.
Your insight is appreciated.

You may or may not already have your network set up correctly, it's just that I can't tell from what you have said.
I have a main router provided by my ISP, I have several other Airport Extremes and Airport expresses connected by Ethernet, all set up to bridge the network created by the main router.
Each maker has their own settings, but bridging should be reasonably obvious. In simple terms my main router distributes IP addresses to all devices, the Airports bridge that network by passing these addresses to the devices from the main router. A base station that isn't in bridging mode will distribute its own addresses to the devices connected to it.
I don't really follow your next point.
instruction for configuration vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, the best course of action here is to refer to the manual. If everything is set up properly the addresses of everything on your network will have identical sets of numbers for the first 3 of 4 groups of numbers that make up an address, the last set must always be different. I think the part you are referring to with your DD-WRT is the option to have Ethernet and wifi bridged or not.
Some routers may be easier to configure than others, but generally speaking they should all work with the Apple TV. 5Ghz is less likely to suffer interference but it is much more likely to be blocked by solid objects, it may or may not be an advantage.
