Slow iPod function on iPhone 4S

The iPod function on my iPhone 4S is running really slowly and being glitchy. It takes a while to open and forever to select a song or playlist (and sometimes instantly quits). Sometimes when I go to the list of playlists, sometimes it repeats one of the playlist names dozens of times. It is strange because the "loading wheel" at the top of the screen spins and spins like the phone is working really hard and using data to download something, but I'm playing songs that have already been downloaded from iCloud. I have tried restarting and quitting the application many times to no avail. I don't suspect phone damage because everything else runs perfectly! Any suggestions? Or should I just bring it in to the Apple Store to check for a hardware issue?

I'm having the same issue, which just started within the past few days.  3G is unusable due to the slowness.  I've been in areas which I frequent every day, which USED to have great speed, and now are practically dead---so it's not location.  My phone is iPhone 4s, AT&T---so it's not just Verizon and their service.  Everything is fine in WiFi.  I've done everything except restore the phone. I've even uninstalled and reinstalled apps like FaceBook or Words With Friends to see if it was issues with the apps, but that was unsuccessful.

  • About Ipod Functions of Iphone on Pioner Car Kit

    Hello guys,
I have a problem with my iphone about of Ipod functions. So, I have a car and there is Pioneer music kit (CD/USB/MP3 Player) on car. So, When I put my "ipod touch (2th generation and 3th generation)" to that, there is no problem, everything working, I can see playlist, play musics, change tracks, all of functions working on control of pioneer music kit. It's already should be like that and there isn't any abnormal situation.

When I put my iphone to that kit, I never play and see my music, also the pionerr music kit haven't seen my phone like ipod touch. Also, I have checked with other iphone's but I have got same result every end of test.
So, Do you have any information/experience or suggestions about that How can I solvbe that?

  • Using the iPod Function of iPhone 3G while docked in the Universal Dock

I am trying to use the iPhone to play my music while docked in my universal dock with the correct snappins that I just received. I here absolutely no music from the speaker while docked. I have tested it while using the alarm and receiving a call from someone. Is there something I am doing wrong or does it just not play music the the speakerphone while docked. Thanks, Jeff

There is a difference between the iPhone 3G dock and the Universal dock with the iPhone 3G insert that allows one to be used as a speakerphone (or standalone iPod) and the other to be used really only for synching and charging.......you can guess which is which!
If you really need the hands-free speakerphone facility (with iPod music delivery of a sort) then the 3G dock is the baby, but if you really want quality iPod music-delivery then why not consider a cable from your Universal dock to your sound-system? This solution works for me for music (as well as synching and charging) but hands-free speakerphone is still a no-go with my Universal dock, so I then use the 3G one.
    I hope that helps....

  • Certain common iPod functions not in iPhone?

This may have been covered elsewhere, but I can't seem to find it in a search...
I've noticed that two things seem to be missing from the iPod function of iPhone:
-- A progress bar showing relative time remaining on a song or podcast, as well as actual time remaining. This was a help in searching through a song or podcast for a particular segment.
--iPod in the iPhone doesn't seem to remember where you 'left off' in listening to a song or podcast, like iPod did. If you didn't finish a podcast & returned to it later, even after a re-sync or playing other podcasts or music, you could count on it resuming where you left off. iPod in the iPhone usually starts you back at the beginning, making it really hard to remember/find where you were in a long podcast.
Both of these functions were a welcome part of my regular iPod.
Am I missing something, or are they really not there?
    Randy

A progress bar showing relative time remaining on a song or podcast, as well as actual time remaining. This was a help in searching through a song or podcast for a particular segment.
Not sure about Podcasts but this is available for songs.
When a song is playing, single click on the album art or the album art area if there is none and this information is available directly below the Name of the artist and song.

  • Stop Iphone Ipod Function Defaulting to Bluetooth

Is there a way to keep the Ipod on the Iphone from defaulting to Bluetooth mode? I want to use the Bluetooth only when using the actual phone. I have the Iphone plugged directly into my car stereo, and the Bluetooth sounds horrible.

I am trying this on my phone. I opened the camera and set it for video recording. I then tapped the home button to exit the camera. I waited about 5 minutes, opened the camera again and it was still on video mode. So, I cannot offer any suggestions at this time. Watch closely again to see how your camera happens to change modes without any input from you and post back any update.

  • In-Pocket iPod Function Issues

It's next to impossible to control the iPod function on the iPhone when it's in your pocket for a few reasons:
    1. It's very difficult to locate the forward/reverse function on the screen when the iPhone is in your pocket.
    2. It eventually locks, in which case you need to perform the additonal task of unlocking it without looking.
    3. The iPhone lays flat in my pocket. When it lays flat, it goes into cover flow. There aren't even forward and reverse functions in cover flow!
This is a huge disadvantage when the iPhone is compared to the old iPods. My proposed solutions are:
    1. Create a software update which allows you to turn off cover flow (even though you'd still have a hard time finding the forward and reverse functions when the iPhone is in your pocket, and it still would lock).
    2. Put physical forward/reverse buttons on the next iPhone.
    3. I understand that Apple used to make earbud headphones with forward and reverse controls on them, but do they still make them? Even if they did, I don't like earbud headphones so that wouldn't help me.
    WDYT?
PS - I don't like to turn locking off because if I forget to turn it off it stays on and drains the battery and heats up =(

    Happy to help.
In addition, this cable has the button built in to use the click/double click functions. You can use it to plug into any pair of headphones you like so no need to use the buds.

  • Using iPod function with Bluetooth

I recently bought a subaru impreza with a usb connector in which I plug in my iphone. The radio has Bluetooth so I can take calls through the stereo as well
I issue is that when the cable is connected and the Bluetooth turned on, for some reason, I cannot access the iPod controls through the car dashboard, like looking through the iphone library and music folders. But when I turn off Bluetooth, The iPod function works again. But then I cannot take any calls through the car dashboard.
I just don't know if there's a way to have my iphone plugged in to use the iPod functions, while at the same time to have Bluetooth turned on so I can take calls?
I have no idea if I made sense.

If I recall things properly, you can't play music with a bluetooth headset. You need a bluetooth device which supports A2DP or AVCRP. My Jabra BT620S supports both methods, so I can pair it with the cell phone using the headset mode and with the iPod using the A2DP mode to play stereo audio back. My cheap LG stereo headset is similar. My more expensive Motorola H12 only supports the headset mode so I can use it for the phone, but not for the iPod playback.

  • IPod function: fine-grained time movement

Maybe I just haven't gotten this figured out yet, but I'm having trouble moving ahead and back in audio with any precision.
With a standard iPod, I'm used to hitting the center button, and then being able to navigate exactly to the time in a podcast (or video or song or other item) that I want. It's very easy.
On the iPhone, in the iPod function, I know there are two ways to move forward and back.
One is to hold down the >| or <| buttons for a second or two so fast-forward starts. But this has a few drawbacks: The fast-forward or rewind functions take a while to kick in, and then they automatically speed up in a way that is a pain if you're shooting to move forward 30 or 45 seconds. First they move too slowly. Then they move too quickly. Also, if your touch isn't just right, they can be interpreted as a quick push and can take you to the beginning or end of the clip.
The other is to scrub by hitting the album art and then moving the revealed slider. However, this is a pain because in something like a 50-minute podcast, I can't figure out how to move forward or back by less than about a minute at a time. One can't just zero in on the time one wants.
Has anyone tackled this problem and made the iPod function on the iPhone behave more like a true iPod?
    Thanks.

You have described the only two ways to move back and forth within a track. I certainly agree with you that a finer control, similar to the iPod, would be desirable, and I encourage you to pass your thoughts on to Apple at http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

  • IPod functions stops working.

The iPod functions stops working after 5 seconds. I have set the phone with no luck.

Same thing happened with my mine after downloading a new song from my iphone. I just plugged it into the computer and even before it synced it was working again. Hopefully this helps you.

  • Ipod shuffle on iphone

on my iphone ipod, when i hit shuffle songs in a playlist, it keeps playing the same song, it's not shuffling

i can't find a thread on the iphone help page, but i'm guessing the ipod function on the iphone is close enough to the ipod touch itself. i'm having the following problem: i have different versions of the same songs on my ipod and when i shuffle and, for example, the Beatles' "Taxman" comes on, if i have another version of the song (i.e. a live version), the other version of "Taxman" is the next song on shuffle. this happens to every song that i have multiple versions of. repeat is not on. i'm guessing it's a glich, but i'd love to know if this happens to anyone else... thanks!

  • How good of an ipod is the iphone?

I sold my ipod touch 2G so I could get a phone and ipod as a single unit (the iphone 3G). How well does the iphone actually work as an ipod though? Is it basically the same thing as an ipod touch 2G but with phone features as well? I used my ipod touch to go running all the time. Is the iphone safe to run with?

    jmido8 wrote:

It contains the exact same components that the Touch has - the only difference is the phone hardware which has no bearing on the iPod functionality which is mostly software anyway

  • I have a question regarding the iPod Touch and iPhone batteries.

    Hello,
I started asking myself questions lately about my iPod Touch 5th generation battery. A few months ago, when a friend of mine asked me to plug her iPhone 5S in the wall (the battery depleted), I noticed that her phone was at 1% of battery power. Then I compared my iPod Touch battery with her phone's battery, and discovered that my iPod Touch stops working when the battery is close to 10% battery power. This is concerning to me because I feel like I only have about 85-90% of battery power available when I use my iPod Touch, while my friend has over 99% of battery available. It's a huge gap, I can't use this 10% that I wish i had. I'm wondering why iPods can't stop functioning when the battery is close to 1% instead of 10%? Can you imagine not being able to use 10% of your battery! And it was like this since iOS 6.1.3. My iPod Touch would shut down automatically when the battery would be depleted, but in reality, it still had 10, maybe 15% left. Why is that?
    Thank you.

Hey Lil'fighter, First, stop comparing an iPod with an iPhone. They may look a like on the outside, share the same iOS, and some of the components, but that is as far as it goes! The biggest reason your friends iPhone out last the iPod is a bigger battery, greater capacity. Secondly, the phone is configured a bit differently and uses power a little more effectively. Third, it is impossible to completely drain the battery in either device. A safety circuit prevents you from doing that. With Li-ion batteries if you completely drain one, it will de-ionize and become useless; never charge again. I suspect the threshold is set higher for an iPod then on an iPhone. But if you feel your iPod is not performing as it should, and a reset or restore does not improve function, then by all means take it to Apple and have it evaluated. Hope this helps. Cheers.

  • Listening to iPod functions with a bluetooth headset?

I paired a motorola headset with the iPhone and was able to use it to take a call. Is there a way to use it to listen to podcasts and music through the iPod function?
    Thanks!

The iPhone does not support bluetooth stereo, also known as the A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) or even AVRCP (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile).
Maybe future updates might include bluetooth stereo support.
For more info on A2DP and AVRCP, visit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A2DP .

  • Is there anyway to locate an ipod using an iphone?

is there anyway to locate an ipod using an iphone?

    - The iPod has to be connected to a wifi spot to use the FindMyiPod. Either a unsecured spot if the iPOd is set to automatically connect to one or to a secured wifi spot it is set to autmatically connect.
    - Also, it is easy to defeat the find function, Restoring the iPod or simply turning it off will defeat it. It is not realy worth much.
    - Change the passwards for all accounts used on the iPod and report it to the police.
