Slow loading apps

after this his update some my apps (Instagram) are slow to load Over wifi. Anyone else having this issue?

HI Shal!
I want you to have a great experience with your apps! I'd like to ask if you have any issues loading apps over the VZW network? A suggestion for Wifi is to "fotget" the Wifi connection, then reconnect with the Wifi network and use the password to see if that helps.

• Slow loading app on android - black screen

Ive developed a game with flash builder 4.5 as an actionscript mobile project (not a flex mobile project). The game runs fine on various devices (samsung galaxy/ htc desire etc) but is very slow to load initially. Loading takes up to 18 seconds during which time a black screen is displayed. Obviously this isnt ideal because it looks like the app has crashed.
So my questions are -
Is this a normal loading time for a pure action script app?
Can this be disguised by a loading or splash screen?
How can i speed up loading or disguise it?
Ive tried embedding the game swf in an as3 container, the container shows a loading screen but only when all assets are loaded so not much use.
Thanks in advance

ive since made a few observations....
1) Install app onto mobile using adb install myapp.apk . Launching initially on android the app takes 18 seconds ish to load. App plays fine. Now kill/ close the app. Relaunch the app. The app now launches in 2 seconds...
2) Relaunch the app several times and it loads in 2 seconds each time.
3) Turn off the mobile device for a few minutes. Switch back on. Launch app, app loads in 2 seconds.
4) Delete/ remove app from mobile device. Reinstall using adb install myapp.apk. Launching takes 18 seconds. Kill the app. Relaunching takes 2 seconds...
Like i say, no answers here but just a few observations...all i can assume from this is that as3 apps are very slow to run on initially, typically 18 seconds, but run fine ever after....??
Why is the app so slow to launch initially? If anyone has any thoughts on any of the above id be very interested to hear them.
Thanks in advance

• Ever since I updated to Maverick my MacBook is slow to load apps

Since I updated to Maverick my MacBook is slow to boot up after being shut down and is slow to load apps (excessive bounce, etc.). Is there a solution?

Your model is right at the cutoff of models that can handle Mavericks, so you need to keep that in mind: an older machine and less powerful processor. Aside from that, you should really have a minimum of 4 GB of RAM for Mavericks to run reasonably well - how much RAM do you have? The 2 GB minimum published does not work that well unless you only use one app at a time.
So, if you've maxed out the RAM, make sure you don't run too many apps at the same time, especially if dealing with photo editing or movie apps and quit one before starting another. Also make sure you have plenty of empty hard drive space at all times.

• Why does my Mac Mini running on Mavericks so slow to start and load apps?

Why does my Mac Mini running on Mavericks take so long to start and load apps?

1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. All it does is to collect information about the state of the computer. That information goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. However, you should be cautious about running any kind of program (not just a shell script) at the behest of a stranger. If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
4. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
5. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
6. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
8. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "syntax error," enter
exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
9. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
10. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
[Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
11. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with "Model Identifier." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
12. When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. • Unexpected loading and unloading of BusinessObjects DLL's slows down app.

Hi all,
I have a dev laptop, and a client tabletpc.
In my application I preload a report to get a faster initial view of the report I'm using.
I noticed very slow preloading on my clientmachine. This doesn't happen on my dev. machine.
I did some observations and my true question is: What is going on and how can I fix it??
Extra info:
- Notice the unloading and loading of BusinessObjects dll's that occurs on the client machine but doesn't happen on the development machine.
- I installed CR Runtime 2008 SP1 on the client machine.
- The dev machine has CR2008 installed.
My observations:
The output on my dev. machine during the preloading (truncated because of thread length limitation):

The way I preload:
ht[How to preload the crystal dll's of the CrystalReportViewer?|How to preload the crystal dll's of the CrystalReportViewer?]
Kind regards,
Wim

Hi Ludek,
I found out that the slow loading time was caused by dll's who connect to crl.verisign.net.
Our firewall blocked those requests without response so this caused an additional +-1 min. loading time.
There are also some connections to thawte.com. I'm not sure if they are related to CR. Maybe Janus is the cause of this (also a 3rd party tool I use).
Simular issue: http://bonkel.wordpress.com/2008/11/18/crystal-reports-slow-load-using-net-c-setdatasource/
I found some solutions on the internet (As for our solution: I'm still discussing this internally which will be the best option. Option 2 works ((tested)) but we are evaluating the security issues ...):
There are four possible workarounds to avoid the delays of not being able to reach the certificate provider's server
1. Provide access to the VeriSign web server, by providing an open Internet connection and opening up the system's firewall to allow the VeriSign server query to succeed.
2. Disable Certificate Revocation Checking for the entire system. This can be accomplished by unchecking the "Check for publisheru2019s certificate revocation" option on the Advanced tab of Internet Options. Internet Options can be accessed the Control Panel or from the Tools menu item of the Internet Explorer browser.
3. Manually download the Certificate Revocation List from VeriSign at crl.verisign.com and install it on the system. The CRL is valid only for 10-15 days, so unless the system is able to update the file after this time, the same issue will be encountered in the future.
4. Use versions of the assemblies that are not digitally signed. This is the solution suggested most highly by Infragistics Developer Support. The release build of NetAdvantage for .NET 2007 Volume 1 for CLR 2.0 (version 7.1.20071.40) did not have a non-digitally signed version of the assemblies. Starting with the first hotfix build (version 7.1.20071.1045), the assemblies installed are not digitally-signed, and versions of the assemblies that are digitally-signed are stored in the "ASP.NET\Bin - Signed", "ASP.NET\APTCA - Signed" (for allowing partially-trusted callers), and "Windows Forms\Bin - Signed" subfolders of the installation directory.
As far as I know are the requests for CRL info the true cause of the slow loading (and not the loading/unloading of the dll's itself).
So as far as I'm concerned, this case is closed
Kind regards,
Wim

• How do I delete a down loaded app from my Iphone?

How do I delete a down loaded app from my iphone?
I'm new to the iphones and still learning. We don't use our phones that much as we still have a land line. My husband and I are both in our seventies and are slow learners. We bought the phone to use in the car for the GPS and what ever. I down loaded some games but after looking at them I don't like them, and would like to take them off. If any one can help Thank you.
Gr8grandma

Tap and hold on the app until it juggles and displays a red X. Tap on the X to delete the app.

• Ipad Air & Ipad mini very slow loading websites

Hi all
Im experiencing very slow website loading issues on my Ipad air and my daughters Ipad mini retina. When this occurs the devices even stop loading the site completely. When i open the same site on iPhones 4s or iMac it loads instantly, WiFi is provided by 2 AirPort express stations, since iPhone & Imac load instantantly. During these issues speedtests on both Ipads are showing download speeds in the range of 44 mb/s. All of this leads me to believe there's nothing wrong with WiFi signal.
All mobile devices are running on IOS 7.1, loading apps is no issue, just loading sites is giving the problem
Any help or advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated
Kris

That's weird. Have you tried to reset the network settings on them?
Go to Settings > General > Scroll to bottom and Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Try and see if that helps. You'll need to put your passwords back in but it may help

• Slow load of Crystal WPF dll's

I am trying to use the new WPF interface of Crystal Report using VS 2010. I have a 64bit Win 7 machine with 8gb of memory.
I have reduced a test application to do nothing more than instantiate the ReportDocument object then load a simple report.
the statement
Private _crpt As New CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument
takes over 60 seconds to complete in or out of the VS 2010 designer.
The Crystal Report refererences are all versioned to 13.xxx
Subsequent instantiations of _crpt even after .close & .dispose are in the subsecond to 2 second range.
Why does the initial instantiation of the object take so long??
Is this normal?? or can it be speeded up somehow??

I have tried many approaches using the WPF threading model and Crystal with no success. The code snippets I provided is all that you should need to reproduce the problem in a wpf environment. An attempt to repeat it in the lab would be appreciated. A bit of additional info: the error message generated above is not captureable, its coming out as a "system error" associated with a vshost.exe program while loading in the developer mode of vs 2010.
A couple FYI's
Too Ludek, There have been a number of reported problems with slow "report load" times. My problem is not with loading a report - I haven't yet gotten that far in the code. I'm just trying to instantiate and load the .dlls associated with your ReportDocument object. So while i appreciate your good information regarding report creation in general (which I can assure you I will reference since we've had many report authors and I'm sure that many of our reports can be better written), its the load of the object that is problem and it may be just associated with the WPF developemnt environment. I have not used 13. modules in win forms but we do have examples here of 12. Crystal modules in winform apps and the instantiation time is 30 secs or less.
These slow load times (60 sec+) appear to be a significant problem, based on the forum message counts. If some simple threading code can be created and made to work to run the dll load in the background, I'm sure many of the complaints about slow load times would go away.
On my application. I was not clear. I'm not trying to recreate RAS. What we are trying to do is to basically provide a dll that any of our applications might use to call out to Crystal to run any of our SQL data described 400+ reports. The SQL tables will provide descriptions of the reports, their location and the parameters that are associated with each of them, etc.. The idea being that once described once to the database (via an admin program) any application can request that report by name or id. The application can then look up the report and its attributes and make the call to the CRViewer to do the actual report.
Some people run one application all day - in that case a one minute wait time can be lived with. However, many people be-bop around applications all day, to make them wait an extra minute on each app at startup for example, especially if they don't do reports, is problemmatic.
Thanks for your continuuing attention.

• Why are videos on Youtube slow loading since ff4 update?

ever since updating ff 4 videos on Youtube are slow loading. all plugins, codecs and computer are up to date. my other computers have older versions of ff and have no issues. what is going on?

Try a Restart.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
Resetting your settings
You can also try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered. You won't lose any data, but it takes time to enter all of the settings again.
Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Apple recommends this only if you are unable to restart it.
Or if this doesn't work and nobody else on the blog doesn't have a better idea you can contact Apple.
Here is a link to their contacts with most of the information below.

• We are trying to load apps on new iPad and it is taking forever. What can we do?

We are trying to load apps on new iPad we just bought and it is extremely slow. What can we do to resolve?

As they are loading, presumably you can see circles with a bar in the middle indicating progress (or lack thereof).
My suggestion is to pause all but one app by clicking the bar in the middle of each app you are going to pause.
Then let the one app complete loading. The progress will be shown by the circle getting bold and eventually the entire circle will be bold and will change to saying "Open".
Then repeat this process to load the next app, etc.

There have been a few reports on here where Corsair RAM seems to have caused users a lot of grief with crashes.
The recommendation on here, mostly, is to only buy RAM from macsales.com or crucial.com as they guarantee their modules will work and offer a no quibble lifetime guarantee.
I'd put the original RAM back in, return the Corsair chips for a refund and re-order from one of those two companies.

• Slow load times on AU sites?

is anyone still experiencing slow load times on AU sites, apparently this is resolved but I just emptied my cache and checked load times on half dozen sites. Still very slow!

I just loaded http://www.prettypollution.com.au/ and it took 17sec.
Got similar time for http://www.designexperts.com.au/ as well. So, although not very fast it's much better than what you’re seeing. Could be something in the node you’re being routed through.

• Boot message: problem with hard drive detected. Slow loading of windows 7

Good Day
I am having a problem with my hard drive, everytime it boots these days it starts with a message: Warning: a problem with the hard drive has been detected, followed by an extremely slow loading of windows. then once in windows it gives me Anothet message
the messsage says hard drive failure imminent you should back up you data etc.
My specs are:
Intel core 2 duo e8400 3.0 ghz
4 gig ddr3 transcend
1 tb seagate 7200.12
giga byte nvidia 9800 gt 1 gig ddr3
Please help lots of data.

Another option:
Take your hard drive out and slave it into another KNOWN WORKING PC.
Back-up your data immediately. Slow boot usually indicates that the drive is going to die. (Check your warranty!)
Then, run "chkdsk /r" from the host PC to check the failing drive. (It is good to match OSes if you can.)
