Slow loading flash ecards on website

We are creating ecards for one of our artists... however we
cannot get them to load fast enough on the website. Check out our
ecards on www.pme-c.com/artists/pamelagladding or
www.pamelagladding.com
Is there a way to create our cards using Flash MX Pro 2004 in
movie format, rather than a swf? Thinking that this may create a
faster loading ecard.

load times are relative - hard for anyone to say unless we
know what each file size is, what speed
connection you are testing with and if the hosting server is
slow as well. MX 2004, MX, Flash 8 -
does not matter what version of flash or what version of the
flash player you are publishing to - if
the movies are large and/or if the server is slow then it
doesn't matter. An SWF is an SWF is an SWF
- know what I mean?
When you ask about a way to use MX 2004 to make it a "movie
format" - what do you mean? "movie"? as
in video format?

  • I thought ff4 was suppose to be faster than 3.6 but it is slower loading and getting to websites. Are ther certain add-ons that could be affecting ff4 that did not affect 3.6?

    ff4 generally slower loading and loading pages.

    same problem here for the past two days till this morning when I created a new profile and removed ALL addons from the default profile. With the new profile with NO addons, I got to the sites with video that I had problem with and flash player did work.
    Now, I only have three addons that have not created the problem; adblock, flashgot, and flashblock.
    Create a new profile and check it out.

  • My slow loading flash site :(

    I've recently notices that i'm loosing 70% of my visitors in the first 0-30 seconds. I thinking its to do with elements of my site loading too slowly.
    I have an opening animation which I think loads pretty quickly. I think the problem is occurring when selecting a button on the menu bar. It can take up to 5 seconds to load the external text files. If a user is inpatient and selects the button again this slows the process again and again.
    this is the site www.videoproductions.ie
    I'm very new to flash and i've hashed and muddled my way to this point. when researching this problem I know i've done lots wrong.
    for example my site is all flash....bad (or so i hear)
    the images have high dpi
    I've used transparency
    In my menu i've used button instead of movie clips.
    on the up side I have done a few things right
    I have a master file where a menu swf loads into
    with this menu bar I load all my other swf's and text files (which load into scrolling boxes)
    Where i'm having the problem is with my external text file and embedded text
    you would imagen that text files would load very quickly but this is not the case.
    I've come so far with this only to hit a rock ....what is the problem with the text ..I've looked everywhere and no answers on any forums
    any help would be greatly appreciated...I could be loosing allot of potential business because of this

    I wonder if i could ask for some more help ........sorry to be a pain but I feel like flash is really beaten me. Been at it the last two day going round in circles
    I've attached the menu file I have a master file which is an animation then into this loads my menu swf (which is attached) with in this I've been trying to get the pages to load up on different frames and its all working ok except for loading in my external txt files.
    i'm assigning the following scrip to the relevant frames to load the text files
    myData = new LoadVars();
    myData.onLoad = function() {
    textbox2.text = this.myNews;
    myData.load("TEXT2.txt");
    Its working on the Packages page but only on the first click. for example if you launch the swf and go straight to Packages you'll see the text load in but if click any where else it ceases to work. i'm using the same method throughout but none of the other text files load up at all.
    any idea what i'm doing wrong?
    My scroll bar is no longer working either but I'll figure that out some other time

  • Slow loading time on my Website

    I just installed iWeb last night, and went about building a practice site. I'm finding that loading times are EXTREMELY slow.
    http://www.brianutter.net
    I've tried to reduce the size on some of my images by exporting from iPhoto and limiting pixel width, as you can see the site is still super slow. I'm wondering if other folks have experience this and have any helpful tips.
    Thanks!

    If you use command-shift-4, everything in that selected area gets lifted. In the case of the red image, you grab the image, it's reflection AND the white background that's showing through the reflection. If you convert this image to a .jpg and place it over a white background, there's effectively very little difference but you realize a great change in file size.
    Change the color of the page's background, and you see the difference immediately. The reflection loses it effect. Instead of being reflected over black as it would be if it were a .png, it still carries the white reflection since that's the color you lifted from the screen capture. You'd have to take the original file, reflect it, and command-shift-4 to copy a new image with the correct colored background. It's not just a white box, it's whatever color box your current background is. This is an old web trick used for when you needed the high quality color of .jpg and the transparency of a .gif. You just created all your graphics as .jpg's such that they give the illusion of having degrees of transparency (like with iWeb's reflections and shadows). Here's an image that is an example of this.
    http://images.apple.com/ilife/iweb/images/overview20060111.jpg
    the page it's from
    http://www.apple.com/ilife/iweb/
    Drop that image on any background other than white to see what I mean by "white boxes around images"
    On your pages, you've composited the entire background as one big .jpg, so it doesn't apply. This one is particularly nice.
    http://web.mac.com/jwtseng/iWeb/kate/Images/puttputt.jpg
    Make the .jpg match the page background, and it doesn't require a series of .png's!

  • Website slow loading

    So I am having a problem with one website that I frequent. It it much slower loading than other websites I visit. The progress bar seems to freeze for several seconds. Sometimes if I hit the x then the reload symbol the page loads right away. I have asked other people, it is a forum site, if they have had problems lately and nobody has experienced the slow loading problem I have. One person suggested clearing the history which I did. That didn't work so I researched the web and found a suggestion to delete the cache from the library and also clear history. I did that as well and nothing has improved. It only happens on this one site and has only started happening in the last two maybe three weeks.
    Any suggestions on what else I could try? I do not want to use another browser to see if it works in another browser. It used to work fine but doesn't now. Just looking for other things I could try to resolve the issue.

    Start up in Recovery mode. In the OS X Utilities screen, select Get Help Online. A clean copy of Safari will launch. No plugins, such as Flash, will be available. While in Recovery, you'll have no access to your saved bookmarks or passwords, so make a note of those before you begin, if they're needed for the test.
    Test. After testing, restart as usual and post the results.

  • Slow loading website

    So I just finished my website but it loads piece by piece and
    a slower than I would have liked. is there anyway to improve this
    that would not require me redoing it all over? The site is here:
    http://www.martinpaulphotography.com/index.html
    thanks,
    Martin.

    A couple of things:
    (1) If the music is in your flash file, you can delay it a
    few frames. Too much in the first frame slows loading. You might
    consider adding a volume X button for those that want to browse w/
    sound.
    (2) Optimize the images of your page. There are a lot of them
    which is one of the reasons for the slow load.
    Is that your musical composition? If not, you should post
    your use with permission on the front page to oblige the author's
    permission. If you don't have that....lose the music. Be careful
    here, especially with professional sites.

  • Problem loading flash into website

    Hi,
    I wanted to load simple image gallery into my website using
    following code:
    <object width="385" height="611" align="middle">
    <param name="movie" value="gallery1.swf">
    <param name="bgcolor" value="#421628" />
    <param name="wmode" value="transparent" />
    <embed src="gallery1.swf" bgcolor="#421628" width="385"
    height="611" wmode="transparent">
    </object>
    It is working fine when I run just the gallery1.swf on my
    machine, but it somehow can not load the images into website,
    although all the paths are correct. Did anyone else had this
    problem?
    I would realle appreciate help,
    Thanks

    Hi _mz84
    First thing I noticed, is that you did not close your
    <embed> tag
    <embed src="gallery1.swf" bgcolor="#421628" width="385"
    height="611" wmode="transparent" />
    If that doesn't solve your troubles, try the following
    container.
    <object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" height="611"
    width="385" align="middle" data="gallery1.swf">
    <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="never" />
    <param name="allowNetworking" value="internal" />
    <param name="movie" value="gallery1.swf" />
    <param name="quality" value="high" />
    <param name="scale" value="noscale" />
    <param name="wmode" value="transparent" />
    <param name="bgcolor" value="#421628" />
    </object>
    hope this helps out.

  • Slow loading on website

    I am new to Quicktime Pro, but have found it very easy to use with great quality results endoding my FC files for the web. My problem is that when a user clicks to open my video sample, the file has a very slow load time. Some specifics:
    input file: 1.8 GB file exported from FCE as uncompressed 8-bit
    output file: in QTPro - encoded with H.264, 15 fps, 100 key frame, 800 kbps, set for streaming (fast start), 640X480, deinterlacing checked. file size 8 MB.
    As I said, the quality is great (except that the deinterlacing filter doesn't seem to do anything), but the playback outpaces the load very quickly. It takes almost 2-3 minutes for the file to be ready to start automatically. I've been told that an 800 kbps file should load in a few seconds.
    Is there anything you could tell me to enhance the load time? I'm wondering if I'm missing a simple step since QT has been so easy to start to use.
    Thanks so much for your help!! Jo

    Nothing at all wrong with your QuickTime file but your html code at http://aftglow.com/ directly links to it rather than calling the quickTime browser plug-in.
    That may be the source of your troubles. You need to use special html page code for QuickTime:

  • Quicktime audio files extremely slow loading on webpage

    I have loaded four audio files onto one page of my website that I created using iWeb. This page is incredibly slow loading and just won't play on many people's computers (mac and pc alike) (including mine!).
    Is there something I can use for audio files besides the quicktime player? Is there a way to have the page load faster?
    Thanks in advance.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Yes. You can use a flash player like the examples on this demo page: Audio Players.
    More player types and even a jutebox player is explained and demoed on Roddy's iWeb for Musicians sitge on this page:Music Players.

  • Unable to load Flash 9 on my Intel MacBook Pro

    Unable to load Flash 9 on my Intel MacBook Pro but can on my
    Intel iMac. I spoke with a Tech from the Mac Store service area and
    was told that there in a thread on this issue but I can't find it.
    The basic issue is that I am able to load Adobe Flash Player
    9 on my Intel iMac but not on my Intel MacBook Pro and I'm unable
    to determain why. I tryed uninstalling and reinstalling three times
    and found no difference.
    If someone could help me I'd be thankful.
    Dave

    I bought the $29 version of Snow Leopard (not the kosher way of doing things, i know.
    If you read the license agreement, there's actually no difference between what's allowed with the $29 copy and the $169 boxed set. The only difference is that the boxed set also includes iLife and iWork. There is also, despite what some will have you believe, nothing in the license agreement that requires Leopard to be pre-installed except in the case of the $10 disk purchased as part of the Up-to-Date program (for folks who bought a machine shortly before SL was released). So, you're not being bitten by some technical requirement for Leopard to be present.
    I get a flashing folder with a question mark. My disk drive makes some crazy noises as well, and it seems to start running fast, then slowing down. I think it may have caused a minor scratch on the disk as well.
    Sounds like it's possible the drive could be failing, though that's impossible to say for sure remotely. One man's crazy noises are another man's normal state of operations. Do other DVDs work in your drive?
    I'll also need to do an "Archive & Install" since there are tons of important files on this machine.
    *DO NOT* attempt to install a system update on this machine unless you have good backups! If something goes wrong, you're screwed if you didn't have a backup. Hopefully, you have not reached that point already... I'm unclear on whether your machine is no longer able to boot, or if it's only having trouble when you try to boot from the SL disk.
    If your machine is still functional, your first priority before doing *+anything else+* should be to make at least two backups. See my [Mac Backup Guide|http://www.reedcorner.net/thomas/guides/backups> for assistance with this.
    If your machine can't boot anymore, let us know and we'll offer some troubleshooting tips. And don't try to do anything else with it until you've consulted with some expert, whether here or at an Apple Store or somewhere else.

  • Do I have DNS problems? Slow loading or no access ...

    Hi all,
    Most of the time my broadband seems to play nicely however I seem to have painfully slow loading or non-loading websites with annoying regularity. It is not all sites and the problem seems rather selective.
    Sites that I know are up (such as bbc.co.uk) are sometimes impossible to load. A speed test shows somewhere between 2Mb and 7.5Mb (yeah, I know - contention in my area is a real issue).
    If I VPN out to a proxy server then everything works just fine.
    Does anyone know if this is a BT DNS issue?
    Thanks!

    Thanks for the reply.
    I changed my DNS to 8.8.8.8 but still no joy - pick a random page and some work, some don't. My smart TV is decidedly dumb and nothing will stream. Give it a few hours and it is usually fine.
    I am also randomly getting the message that "You're seeing this page becasue BT parental controls is active and you are attemtping to connect to a DNS outside of our network" which I am not...
    [sigh]

  • Video imported from Premiere plays slower in Flash

    I have tried a variety of option including using a shorter
    clip and embedding the video upon import, stretching the audio in
    soundbooth and re-importing seperately, but it either does not work

    I should add that the website it will be on requires .swf

  • Loading Flash Player 9 on PPC Mac - need help

    Hi!
    I am trying to load Flash Player 9 onto my Mac but it won't
    work. I've tried everything I could find on this forum (and yes, I
    did read all 87 posts on the topic). Anyway, my Mac is a Power PC
    G4 with OSX 10.4.11 and my browser is Safari 3.1.
    Every time I try to load, it takes me back to the downloads
    page on the Adobe website. I've used the uninstaller & tried
    reinstalling - no luck. I've tried changing the items mentioned in
    QuickTime - no luck. I've even tried using the code with the
    Terminal - no luck. Disk permissions - no luck.
    Any other suggestions before I take a hammer to my machine??
    Thanks!

    I just installed the Flash Player 9 on my Power PC based Mac OS X 10.3.9 and
    now no Flash elements work in Safari 1.3.2, or even Explorer. I have been sure to close all browsers, uninstall first etc. The
    installations appears to complete successfully, but I get the following error
    message on any page that has flash: Maybe Flash Player 9 is not compatible with it.

  • Sidebar loads very sluggishly - one website!

    I visit one website that is a social journal; the vertical sidebar (along the right hand of page) lists topics and logged-in users.
    Within the past two days, the information in the sidebar has consistently been loading extremely sluggishly --- very long delay! Proceeding forward or backward through the articles/pages is very time-consuming because of the slow loading.
    Interestingly, this sluggishness also occurs similarly with Safari on both my iMac and MacbookAir!
    Since I do not see Safari behaving in this manner on other websites, my assumption was that this reflects a problem with the site's server.
    But... WRONG!
    I go to the same offending website using Firefox... and the site's pages load completely... in just moments!  Tested this repeatedly... and not the slightest sign of sluggishness when using Firefox on this site!
    Any advice on how to correct this problem?
    I have considered going to "Reset Safari"... but I find the vast number of choices of what to reset quite intimidating.
    Is there another route?

    Further update to this problem:
    I booted from a 3-week-old SuperDuper backup that contains the same version of Safari (5.0.5).
    Checking the offending web site... I find no sluggishness in loading! Great!
    Repeatedly ran a number of page reloads... found no hint of sluggishness!
    OK!
    I reboot from MacHD... and, to my utter surprise... the loading problem is gone here as well!!!
    So... What happened?
    Did the act of booting from a backup... then going back to MacHD repair something?
    I haven't the foggiest!
