Slow loading of urls
I have a dsl connection but often the websites load very slowly, often to the point where Safari or Firefox time it out. I have the same problem with either brower or Internet Explore. I have done the permission repair. The provider says everything checks out properly on their end.
If everything checks out with your ISP, it is probably something in your system settings.
I found a few things that worked for me when my connection seemed slower than it should be. First of all, open your sys prefs and go into "Network." Make sure that you connection type - Airport, ethernet, etc. - is listed first. If it is not, drag it to the top of the list.
Then select "configure" from that screen and then "ICP/IP." Write down the numbers in the DNS Server box, then remove them and replace them with 4.2.2.x where "X" is a number from 1 to 6. I use 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2.
Also, select "Configure IPv6" and turn it off if it is on, or turn it on if it is off. Some ISPs like IPv6 - some do not.
Try each of these one at a time and after each change run a test from a place like Speedtest.
I have found that many ISPs provide slow DNS servers which can lead to slow internet browsing. The servers I gave you are known fast servers and work well for many people.

The recommendation on here, mostly, is to only buy RAM from macsales.com or crucial.com as they guarantee their modules will work and offer a no quibble lifetime guarantee.
I'd put the original RAM back in, return the Corsair chips for a refund and re-order from one of those two companies.

FireFox images not loading in local folders (firebug error-Failed to load given URL)
I am having difficulty when developing websites in local folders (Windows7 computer). The webpages I make are showing images in IE9 & Chrome but not FireFox (nor Safari nor Opera).
In FireFox I get Firebug "Failed to load given URL" prompt.
I am using html5 & external linked css stylesheet & the html/html5 & css code validates.
I have tried using rel path ie images/image.gif & absolute path references ie C:/RPD_Programming/RPD WEB/amwcsnew/index.html
and have tried using % to eliminate whitespace in references but I cannot get FireFox to display images!!
This has been a problem for me for around 2 weeks now & is very frustrating. Some website code/templates I have downloaded from the internet display the websites properly (ie load images fine) when I open them locally in FireFox. Why does my code not allow the images to load in FireFox (paths/permissions/other issue??). How can I fix this?

Is there a FireFox guide/manual in pdf format available anywhere? I have not found one yet & a FireFox reference might be useful!You need to use file:// as the protocol instead of C:/. The latter may never work (C:\ might).
Where is the main HTML located ?
Easiest if to store the images in a sub folder of the location because you can't go back via ../ beyond that root location for security reasons.

is anyone still experiencing slow load times on AU sites, apparently this is resolved but I just emptied my cache and checked load times on half dozen sites. Still very slow!
I just loaded http://www.prettypollution.com.au/ and it took 17sec.
Got similar time for http://www.designexperts.com.au/ as well. So, although not very fast it's much better than what you’re seeing. Could be something in the node you’re being routed through. -

I am having a problem with my hard drive, everytime it boots these days it starts with a message: Warning: a problem with the hard drive has been detected, followed by an extremely slow loading of windows. then once in windows it gives me Anothet message
the messsage says hard drive failure imminent you should back up you data etc.
My specs are:
Intel core 2 duo e8400 3.0 ghz
4 gig ddr3 transcend
1 tb seagate 7200.12
giga byte nvidia 9800 gt 1 gig ddr3
Please help lots of data.Another option:
Take your hard drive out and slave it into another KNOWN WORKING PC.
Back-up your data immediately. Slow boot usually indicates that the drive is going to die. (Check your warranty!)
Then, run "chkdsk /r" from the host PC to check the failing drive. (It is good to match OSes if you can.)

Site not found using Sharepoint Designer 2013, Load balance URL and the Front end servers.

My SharePoint farm is with the below configuration in our office :
Batch processing server the with Central Administration
Web Front End Sever 1 (http://wfe01)
Web Front End Sever 2 (http://wfe02)
I do have the load balance URL as http://finance.mycompany.com and as per the system administrator it seems configured properly.
In AAM i have mapped the URLs as below for the web application in Central Administration portal:
http://finance.mycompany.com - Default Zone
http://wfe01 - Intranet Zone
http://wfe02 - Internet Zone
I was able to browse the site via the load balance URL : http://finance.mycompany.com, but couldn't open the site using the Share Point Designer 2013. It always says the site not found.

Are you browsing to the SharePoint site and using SPD on the same computer, is it part of the farm or a seperate client computer?

WFE01, WFE01 is connected to the one central admin on Batch Processing Server (central admin URL is http://SharepointCA:5555 and the SharePoint Web Application is hosted under port 80 on the same server). So the AAM configured on the batch processing server
central admin.
I can connect to the site using the SPD inside the Batch Processing server if i mention the site urs as http://localhost. But not from other client computers by putting the load balance URL - http://finance.mycompany.com.
I can browse the sites directly putting http://wfe01, http://wfe02 and as well as the load balance URL (http://finance.mycompany.com). The custom webparts are getting crashed when i put the web application URL as http://finance.mycompany.com.

IMac - Slow load and wifi problems
I have lion installed on my macbook pro and on my iMac. My macbook pro works GREAT...no problems. My iMac - I am ready to toss out a window. Here are the problems:
INCREDIBLY slow boot up time - 5-10 minutes from off - 5-8 minutes from sleep
The hard drive is constantly working. I can have nothing open and it sounds like the hard drive is constantly spinning
Half the time my wifi hardware is not found on boot up and I have to reboot with slow load times - sometimes taking 20 minutes before I can get logged in to a 'working' computer
A lot of my programs have become slow. Safari can be slow responsive but others that are not apple that have done 'lion updates'
I have my activity monitor running and nothing seems to be hogging resources. My iMac specs are:
2.8 intel core i5
12 gb ram
2 TB hard drive with about 1tb free
I ran the lion update that came out and it did not seem to do much for me.
Anyone have a solution? Anyone tried a clean format and did this work? Lion works great on my laptop and I just need it to work on my main computer as well.
Rebai think part of the boot up time issue is the amount of windows you happen to have open when you put it to sleep
other is lion upgrade slows it down due to this auto save function

I saw the information in the JavaWS FAQ, which recommended turning off security constraints for the JNLP's URI. I tried that, and it didn't help. One of the very baffling things is that I have created several variations of the JNLP file, with varying combinations of jars and property resources, and some combinations always work while other combinations never work. Assuming that a no-cache header is the problem, what on earth could be causing some JNLP files to always be served with a no-cache header, while others are never served with a no-cache header?
On a related note, any recommended debugging techniques for seeing what headers are being transmitted? I tried adding a simple check for a "debug=true" parameter in the servlet that causes it to set the content type to "text/plain" instead of JNLP, and that allows me to see (rather than execute) the JNLP XML that's being returned, but it doesn't show me the HTTP headers that are being sent back. If any caching headers are being set, I think it must be being set by the servlet container itself, as it's nothing being set in the servlet code that I can see. So I don't see any way on the server side Java code to output or log the actual HTTP response (or is there?). Any tips in that regard much appreciated.

Thanks for the response. Re browsers, yes, it fails in IE but it succeeds in Firefox. The info on the JavaWS FAQ and other places all seem to indicate that it's an IE issue concerning handling of the cache-control headers.
I should check in my webserver forum (Sun WebServer 7) to see about logging options. Sniffing on the client side is not possible, as my app is required to use HTTPS exclusively, and unfortunately that also precludes a telnet GET request. -
Upgraded to FF4 sites were slow loading or not loading at all - then I discovered it downloads if I keep moving the cursor. If I stop moving the cursor the downloading stops or slows to a crawl again. I need to load a GET url that si very long. On other browsers, I can load the url. In firefox 3.6, no.
There is an addons or a plugin so I can extend this limit? If yes, is possible to load automatically this addons when loading a certain page? thanks
The url is sometingh like this (this is correctly loaded, but it could be longer)Firefox should have problems with long GET data appended to an URL (long would be over 64k).<br />
If there are problems then it is possible that an extension is the cause of that.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

Safari 2.0.3 does not load the URL's I type
Hello,
can anyone help me? I have installed OS 10.4 with that came safari 2.0.3? OK!
but now I cant load any URL that I type in my browser? It does work when I choose a bookmark. But thats all.
Is this a common problem. Or has it something to see with the firewall at my job?

i am finding the same thing with safari.
I click on a link on my own website and it says 'page not found on this server'. However I know the page is there because it is my own site! Also the site loads ok in Firefox.
I get the same problem with images on some sites, they don't load however much I click refresh.
I also get problems with this very site on Apple, I have to click a link several times before the browser loads it, otherwise it just sits there and hangs.
When I first got Safari 2 I moved over from Firefox because Safari was faster. I don't know what Apple have done but they have thrashed a great product. I have now moved back to Firefox, using version 1.5 which is much better than the latest Safari.
I am ashamed of Apple. -
I am new to Quicktime Pro, but have found it very easy to use with great quality results endoding my FC files for the web. My problem is that when a user clicks to open my video sample, the file has a very slow load time. Some specifics:
input file: 1.8 GB file exported from FCE as uncompressed 8-bit
output file: in QTPro - encoded with H.264, 15 fps, 100 key frame, 800 kbps, set for streaming (fast start), 640X480, deinterlacing checked. file size 8 MB.
As I said, the quality is great (except that the deinterlacing filter doesn't seem to do anything), but the playback outpaces the load very quickly. It takes almost 2-3 minutes for the file to be ready to start automatically. I've been told that an 800 kbps file should load in a few seconds.
Is there anything you could tell me to enhance the load time? I'm wondering if I'm missing a simple step since QT has been so easy to start to use.

So I am having a problem with one website that I frequent. It it much slower loading than other websites I visit. The progress bar seems to freeze for several seconds. Sometimes if I hit the x then the reload symbol the page loads right away. I have asked other people, it is a forum site, if they have had problems lately and nobody has experienced the slow loading problem I have. One person suggested clearing the history which I did. That didn't work so I researched the web and found a suggestion to delete the cache from the library and also clear history. I did that as well and nothing has improved. It only happens on this one site and has only started happening in the last two maybe three weeks.
Any suggestions on what else I could try? I do not want to use another browser to see if it works in another browser. It used to work fine but doesn't now. Just looking for other things I could try to resolve the issue.Start up in Recovery mode. In the OS X Utilities screen, select Get Help Online. A clean copy of Safari will launch. No plugins, such as Flash, will be available. While in Recovery, you'll have no access to your saved bookmarks or passwords, so make a note of those before you begin, if they're needed for the test.
Test. After testing, restart as usual and post the results. -
So I just finished my website but it loads piece by piece and

(1) If the music is in your flash file, you can delay it a
few frames. Too much in the first frame slows loading. You might
consider adding a volume X button for those that want to browse w/
sound.
(2) Optimize the images of your page. There are a lot of them
which is one of the reasons for the slow load.
Is that your musical composition? If not, you should post
your use with permission on the front page to oblige the author's
permission. If you don't have that....lose the music. Be careful
here, especially with professional sites.
