Slow Mac Help Etrecheck

Hi, I'm having a lot of trouble with my Mac stalling, pinwheeling, applications not responding etc.
It was getting worse prior to recently installing Yosemite (from Mavericks).  After installing Yosemite is came to an almost complete standstill.  After implementing steps 1-6 from High Tech Dad http://www.hightechdad.com/2014/10/23/13-tips-optimize-mac-yosemite-installation / it improved significantly, but is still slow and stalling at times.  Can anybody offer further help?
Thanks

Try here for instructions on removing MacKeeper. The Developer's uninstaller leaves remnants behind on purpose.

MacKeeper is a big source of CREATING problems, not solving them. Sorry that their scam got you. See Do not install MacKeeper.
Also try removing uTorrent and BitTorrent and see if there is an improvement. If you frequently download torrents, that's a good way to get malware. It might be worth downloading Sophos and having it do a scan: http://www.sophos.com/en-us/products/free-tools/sophos-antivirus-for-mac-home-ed ition.aspx.

  • Help viewer is very slow - 'Mac Help' questions never answer

  • Slow mac =( HELP PLZ

mac is being really sluggish can any one help?

One way to do it is to do a complete reinstall of you MAC OS disk. This will solve it. PLease bare in mind that you need to have enough free space for you to do this. If that dosent work then remove your battery, press power button for 5 seconds (it wont look like its doing anything but it does something internally) then put battery back in and restart, you should find its back to normal.

  • Slow Mac - Help

My mac is only about two years old.
I came home today and randomly it's running super slow, usually I run OnyX clean up my computer a bit and everything is fine.
But now, OnyX has stopped responding. I did a recovery boot and the disk utility until they came back fine.
I'm running another now to clear space - what can/ do I do? I'm so worried.

When you have the problem, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.
These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Scroll back to the time you noted above. Select the messages entered from then until the end of the episode, or until they start to repeat, whichever comes first. Copy the messages to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of it useless for solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

  • Tiger Mac Help

There were a few postings on 12 Sept 05 about very slow Mac help; the only solution proposed was to delete a few prefs files (which didn't help this iMac).
Mac Help on this iMac is, simply, not working. Clicking on "Index: Look up topics easily" MIGHT bring an index up in 15 minutes (31,200 slow wire connection), and a further 15 minutes still doesn't respond to anything clicked there.
I've seen this phenomenon on quite a few Macs, including those in an Apple reseller's store. They just shrugged.
    What's (not) going on here?

    Ted,
Troubleshooting Help Viewer by Dr. Smoke may be "Helpful."
This X Lab FAQ link has proven to be useful for countless users. Be sure to explore all of the options step-by-step before you reject the "delete a few prefs files" solution.

When you see a beachball cursor or the slowness is especially bad, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.
These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
When you post the log extract, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "The message contains invalid characters." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the text on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.

  • Why is Mac Help so slow?

Why is Mac Help so teeth-grindingly slow in Lion? Perhaps because Lion is a download-only OS, Apple seems to have put the entire Help System online, but Surely there is a way to download the help system to my Mac?
It often takes half a minute just to get my search results, and if I do several searches, this really adds up! in addition, if I am downloading something etc. the help system will give me the message that my Mac is not connected to the Internet. Is this normal?
I am much less likely to use the help system now because it works so poorly.

Does OnyX do anything different from TinkerTool System?
I'm not familiar with TinkerTool system (just the free TinkerTool app).
Anyway, deleting caches and plists according to these instructions helped a great deal.
That's probably sufficient, but Help has changed significantly since Snow Leopard, and the X Lab articles don't seem to have been updated since then.

  • Mac help search slow

In Mac Help, when you press on the triangle next to the textfield and the looking glass, what does it say. In using the Dutch version. But what does it say in English? Something in the line of 'including results product support', but I'm curious to what it says exactly so I can search more about that option.
Cause when selected any search literally takes ages, if not forever. Deselected I get search results quickly. But when selected... I've entered a search half an hour ago and it still only showing that spinning disc.
So I'm curious what this option says and what it does.

Cause when selected any search literally takes ages
Help topics are connecting to the online versions. I suspect you might have a slow connection and this is causing the delay. Microsoft Office has an option in Help to view the local files, but I don't see an option in OS X to view only local. I suspect there are no local files. These files are constantly being updated and the only way to keep current is to view online.
Selecting Finder, I see this search box:

Your machine is slow because you loaded a bunch of third party junk on it.

You have only about 10 percent free drive space left. 50gB is enough to run the computer but, if it gets much smaller, that can slow how Virtual Memory (VM) works as the system has to more carefully search the remaining space for qualified blocks to which to write data.
Adding RAM will reduce the writes-to-disk by VM but you should probably consider a little holiday disk cleaning of stuff you no longer use.
    This concerns me:

That is a LOT of log-in items for a compute with 4GB RAM. Some are hard to avoid but Excel is a big program that can be easily launched from the Dock. I don't know what "Inspiration 8" is but likely the same advice will apply.
