Slow MBP keyboard & Apple Extended Keyboard Performance

I have noticed that the above keyboards run slow, meaning there is an increased latency time from keystroke until the character appears, when I use IE 8.0.6001.18702 in Windows XP SP3 running as VM in Parallels 7.0.15107.  My base OS is Mac OX 10.7.5.  I know this is a rather unique situation; however, the keyboards have only recently begun to misbehave.  Any thoughts?

Sorry, but what does this have to do with the iPod touch?
If you're attempting to use a Apple Extended Keyboard with a Windows 7 system and have a problem, you should take this up on a Windows-oriented support site. The Apple Extended Keyboard itself has no programmable keys, so any key remapping would need to be done in Windows, and that's not a subject that should be addressed here (particularly not in the iPod touch forum).

Can I use an Apple Extended Keyboard ll (MO312), which was made in the 1990s, with an iMac, OS 10.9.3? I see ADB to USB adapters for sale, but I understand that these adapters will not work with OS X. Is that true?

Hi Ali, the discs are retail. The hdd is a transplant from a G3 B&W 300 mhz , that had OS X 10.4.5 installed. When I started the first time all was well, Software Updater found the 10.4.6 update and thats where my trouble started. The updater asked to update and then quit unexpectantly. I tried getting on line using Safari & Ie5.2 and would get the same statement " Quit unexpectantly". I had just installed the software so I had nothing to loose and decided to reinstall. And thats where I lost it all.
Now a new glitch. while I'm writing this on my iMac, I'm still trying to install on my B&W, the blue progress bar has gone all the way across " Running Installer Script. Time remaining: less than a minute. " The colored pinwheel spun for a while but has not done anything for @ 20 mins. but i can still move the cursor on the desktop.
    Thanks

  • New Mac Mini/OSX not recognizing Apple extended keyboard

I recently purchased a new Mac Mini. I also purchased a Apple (extended) Keyboard (usb cable connected with 10 key pad and full F keys).
When I initially plugged in the keyboard the OS setup screen indicated that it didn't recognize the keyboard. I tried setting it up several times, it doesn't seem to "see" the correct keys as I try to set it up. When prompted to "press the key to the right of the SHIFT key, when I do so I get a sound, no other response and the setup goes no further.) Some keys do not function properly (for example the sound up and sound down keys do not work). The general input for the keys work (I am typing this text with it), but it seems weird that an Apple device does not recognize another Apple device.
Is there something I need to do to complete setting up the keyboard? Are there any articles about this particular problem? I wasn't able to find any in the forum or help files.
    Thank you,
    Tim Kern

Thank you for the reply SilverSkyRat,
I checked the settings and USB ports for the keyboard connection. Still no-go with the "configure your keyboard" recognizing keys on the keyboard. I have also been trying to use the sound up and sound down keys and they do not function either. I will try another keyboard later today.
Thank you again for your reply.
    Cheers,
    Tim

  • How switch keyboard on atv3 bluetooth keyboard(apple wireless keyboard)?

When I'm using atv remote in keyboard screen I just press play/pause button to change keyboard (not system language).
When I want to browse from caps to small or signs.
but, with the apple wireless keyboard the play/pause button doing other action. (it functioning as return button. for ex: if I'll press play/pause button whan 'a' letter is signed it will write the 'a' letter in the search box instead scolling between keyboards.which is whird.

    Hello Marc,
If you have your install disks you should be able to boot to your install disk by holding down the "c" key and then ignore the install splash screen and go to the Installer Menu in your top menu bar and select reset password. This is the admin password. Sorry if that doesn't do it as I have never had to reset a password before and your situation seems somewhat unusual.
If you post back which key it is on the US keyboard perhaps someone using a French keyboard can give you the equivalent (key combination?) on the US keyboard if there is one.
post back with comments or questions and sorry if that doesn't help,

  • Keyboard apple vs keyboard vista

    Hi,
At my work we use Windows Vista and Office 2007, at home I use an Apple Mac book + Leopard and Office for Apple 2004. Changing between the keyboards on a daily basis is rather confusing. Under Vista I like to use Ctrl Z, Ctrl cursor, Ctrl delete etc etc and Alt F4, Alt Tab etc etc. Under Leopard it is different. I cannot make any settings at my work. Would it be possible to change the keyboard settings of my Mac book in order to have that keyboard functioning like it were a Vista Keyboard, while still working with Leopard?
    Thanks very much in advance,
    Peter

Hi Peter, Yes you can change the setting to match. Open System Preferences>Mouse & Keyboard. Select Keyboard Shortcuts from the selection in the upper half of the window. Scroll to the bottom and highlight Application Keyboard Shortcuts the click the "+" sign in the lower left. Choose the application or other(MS is in it's own folder so you need to pick Other) and browse for MS Word.Excel...
then type in the action...copy(For example) then add the click on the box below and hold don the "Cont+C" Repeat this for all the commands you need.
    Cheers,

  • CS 4 custom shortcuts and function keys with apple extended keyboard

    Hi all,
the F-Keys from F1 to F12 work fine, but F13 to F16 get entered as F3 (F17 to F19 do not get recognized at all).
Has to be an Illustrator CS4 problem since they are recognized in InDesign or Photoshop CS4 (except the F17 and up).
    Anyone can help?
And yes, I tried using all as standard function keys ;-)
MacPro 2x 2.8 Quad Core Intel Xeon, 10.5.5

I just got the new keyboard today I have the same issue... have you had any luck in finding a work around?  I just got off the phone with tech support and they told me that it is a known issue and to wait for an update be either Adobe or Apple.  It is not an Apple problem, it is an Adobe problem.
For the time being, I have just made it so that I have to hit the "fn" (function) key in order to control the media options on the F-Keys.  This seems to work for now since I use shortcuts on those keys more than the media options.

  • HT3986 How to get Windows 7 to map apple extended keyboard correctly

I've installed Windows 7 into my bootcamp partition, but W7 will not recognise the numeric pad as such, any advice welcome
    Thanks
    Darren

    Thank you for the answer.
I tried resetting the iPod with no luck.  I tried reloading the system software from iTunes but this too froze.  I passed the unit on to a friend with a much more modern PC and - even after contacting Apple Technical Support - they could not get it working.  Apple said that the unit needed to be sent into them at a cost of ninety-odd quid.  Needless to say, I was not impressed.
I now have a Sony Walkman hooked up to Media Monkey and am much happier.  Okay, the unit is not quite so flashy, but I never used half the stuff on the nano anyway.  The Walkman has a solid, reliable feel about it, and was a lot cheaper than a new nano.
    Kind wishes, Patrick

  • My Apple bluetooth keyboard no longer connects to my Macbook Pro

My wireless keyboard no longer connects to my Macbook using Bluetooth. I've put in fresh batteries, checked the on/off switch, and attempted to connected using system dialog. Also tried turning Bluetooth off and on. Nothing works. Wireless trackpad works fine.

You may need a wired keyboard to carry out some of these steps. It's a good idea to keep a cheap wired keyboard and mouse or trackball as backups for a desktop Mac anyway, because Bluetooth isn't completely reliable.
    Step 1
Follow the instructions in these support articles:
How to set up your Apple Wireless Keyboard
Apple Wireless Keyboard: Difficulty during pairing process
    Step 2
The keyboard should pair automatically when you reboot. You may have to press and hold the power button on the right side of an Apple keyboard until the LED starts flashing.
    Step 3
    Reset the System Management Controller.
    Step 4
    Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/Preferences/com.apple.Bluetooth.plist
Right-click or control-click the line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Reboot.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    Step 5
    See these support articles:
Bluetooth keyboard may not pair during Setup Assistant
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth: Potential sources of wireless interference
Bluetooth: Unreliable wireless performance may occur when USB 3.0 external devices are close
    Step 6
Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional — ask if you need guidance.
If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
Keeping your confidential data secure during hardware repair
*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.

  • Mapping the "fn" key to a key on an external extended keyboard

Is it possible to map the "fn" key found on Macbooks to a key (such as the RH Control Key) on the current Apple extended keyboard?
I use an extended keyboard with my Macbook Pro and wish to have access to the fn functions like I do on the Macbook's keyboard.
    Thanks.

Oh my gosh I can't believe it you are right - there it is under F13 staring at me.
I have had so many years of that being the "help" key that I didn't notice it had changed on the new aluminium keyboards.
Thank you for pointing it out.

  • Keyboard posessed - Up arrow thinks it's an F6 key on extended keyboard

I hope someone can help with this problem. Suddenly my Apple extended keyboard has become possessed. When I press the Up arrow I get an error beep and screen flash. If I'm in the finder in column view and attempt to use the up arrow the highlighting indicator returns to the bottom of the column and beeps. If I press it again and there is a sub folder it will move to the next column.
If I open the character viewer it shows that when the up arrow is pressed the F6 key is also activated. This is extremely annoying when trying to move up and down columns.
I've checked the keyboard layout and the other usual suspects, voice commands and universal access, as well as keyboard shortcuts and can find wrong here.
I suspect my fat fingers have inadvertently pressed some strange combination summoning some keyboard demon. The question, how to get rid of it?
I've connected the keyboard to another Mac and it does not replicate the problem. However, creating another user account repeats the same problem.
Anyone have an idea how to exorcise this demon?
    Thanks.

Not sure how that's happened, but it's easy enough to fix; download Double Command -- it'll add a new prefs pane which gives you lots of key remapping options.

  • Panther & Extended Keyboard

    Hi,
Is there any way to program the function keys on an Apple extended keyboard for use with OS 10.3.9? Also, any way to get Classic to recognize the serial printer port without rebooting to 9.2.2? Panther is losing a bit of its charm what with the loss of these and some other features.
    Thanks,
    Don Rieg

I used a Griffin iMate adapter with an Apple ADB Extended Keyboard II (M3501) on a G4 MDD at work running Panther. Exposé F-keys worked fine. The volume F-keys and the optical drive eject key never worked right. I talked to some very nice people at Griffin. They said that different keyboards, even of the same model, can produce different F-key function results. My report of the volume keys not working from an M3501 board was a first for them, but they knew the CD eject function was among the "known issues."
I was so accustomed to the M3501 keyboard that I could barely type on the Apple Pro USB keyboard that came with the G4. I used the adapter to move the beloved M3501 from the Beige G3/333 to the new computer.

  • 2013 iMac Extended Keyboard - Replacing key Hinge - What Style?

I have an original wired Apple Extended Keyboard, that I special ordered with my new 2013 iMac (thin style iMac). I believe I have the latest Apple Wired Extended Keyboard - Model MB110LL/B (for use with OS 10.6.8+)
Some of the keys were sticking, because I stupidly spilled a very small amount of soda on the keyboard. I was able to remove all the few (6) keys that were "sticking" slightly …. and clean them up with rubbing alcohol, a Q-tip, and canned air.
Unfortunately, one or two of the hinges slightly broke (the little side pin's on some), although all (6) snapped back in place I still wanted to replace the original hinges with exact same new hinges (that have all the side pins).  However, after purchasing the key hinges I needed, from an eBay seller, I found that even though he stated the key hinges were also from an extended keyboard …. that mine and his don't match, and likewise can't be used in my iMac keyboard.
In looking for reference on-line (for extended keyboard key hinge model styles - for the wired keyboard), I still haven't found the exact same match for the key hinge syle I have on my iMac keyboard.  I have found reference to styles AC05, AC28, Type F, Type H …. but still nothing that looks like the hinge style on my keyboard.
I would greatly appreciate any assistance in determining which "model/style" key hinges my 2013 iMac wired Extended keyboard uses.

Here is a photo of the keyboard "Arrow hinge" I have on my keyboard …. and that I am unable to determine which model/style "hinge" it is:
However …. in looking over some reference I have …. It looks like it might be the "AC05" hinge style
