Slow Motion/ Fast Motion Audio?

can you slow down a clip without giving the audio the monster effect, and vice versa with fast??
Message was edited by: M9GL

One possible way would be to de-link (Shift-L) the audio from the video, and apply then select the video by itself and apply the speed changes. Naturally the audio will no longer be in sync with your video for the obvious reasons. Oh, don't forget to turn linking back on Shift-L as it effects all clips.
Happy editing

  • Audio out of sync slow motion audio

Recently when I have tried to import my movies into iMovie 6Hd from a Sony A1 HD camera the audio is both out of sync and sometimes it is as though the audio has been slowed down. I have tried to resolve it by importing into iMovie 11 but still the same. Has anyone any ideas?
    Many thanks

    Hi m
    Just to indicate another approach.
I connect my miniDV Camera to a stand-alone DVD-player and record
    the needed material.
Some Cameras have "video-through" so You can import directly into iMovie.
Why ? Easier and a quality I think is very OK.

  • "Slow Motion" Audio - Canon HV20 and IMovie 6.03

    Hi
Just tried the above combination for the first time. Footage imports fine and plays normally in the clip viewer. However, if I play the same clip in full screen mode, my wife's voice drops an octave! Exactly the same happens when exporting to Quicktime. The whole sounds drops in pitch and women sound like men, men like Barry White. The 'speed' is OK and plays in sync with the video - just at a lower pitch.
This seems to have been mentioned early last year but no solutions seemed to have been suggested bar editing the pitch for each clip.
    Any solutions/explanations/cures gratefully received.
    Thanks
    Matt

Only as I say above. Snipping a second off the start of a clip seems to bring the sound back to normal again. No idea what'shappening but it seems to work. Tried importing on my iMac G5 with an earlier version of iMovie (5.something) and there are no problems. So it's either something in 6.03 or something weird the MacBook Pro is doing but everything points to a software glitch. iMac G5 also imports in real time which I didn't expect. Only has 1gb of RAM too.

  • Slow motion and audio

    Hi everybody:
How can you slow mo a clip, and keep the same unaltered audio. I thought detaching audio before doing the slow mo would do it but no the audio is distorted/ and or shortened in length and cannot be lengthened to cover the entire clip again. Is there a way??????
    Thanks,
    Luis

I go back to the events , take an area surrounding the same clip that is long enough to fit the slow motion clip's length. Drag it up to the slow motion clip in the project and choose audio only when the dialog box appears. then adjust the length of this audio clip to fit. Remember to set the slow motion clips audio to zero in the audio adjustment menu.
Covering the slow motion audio used to be a real pain in iMovie6 and is now one of the best features of iMovie9.
I make mostly sports videos so getting background sound from anywhere in the events is easy.
you could also use stock clips of ambient sound from the sound effects area

  • Slow motion / fast motion in Premiere Elements 13

I read that in Premiere Elements 13 fast motion (and I think also slow motion) ist removed. Is that correct. And if yes: Is there any workaround available?

    Thanks for the reply.
Great information. If you have been using Ctrl+R, that is the keyboard shortcut that brings up the Time Stretch dialog.
Time Stretch (use of the Ctrl+R) has not been removed from Premiere Elements 13 Expert workspace.
Like Premiere Elements 11, Time Stretch is found in the Expert workspace and not in the Quick workspace.
When you use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+R, I get Time Stretch dialog from where I can create the slow or fast motion effect in the selected clip.
The following relates to Premiere Elements Timelapse Capture (Stop Motion) which has been removed from
Premiere Elements 13 as a specific feature that you see in Premiere Elements 11 and 12.
Adobe Premiere Elements 11 * Capture stop-motion and time-lapse video
Please let me know if you are OK with the above information.
    Thank you.

  • Video editing 'special effects': can you apply a fast/slow motion effect to video clips?

I haven't been able to find a way to create the effects of fast or slow motion in the video clips. Is there a way to do this? If not, please consider adding it in the full version - I use these effects alot when editing videos.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
When working with a video layer (clip) in the Timeline panel, either 1.) Context-click on the selected clip (right-click or ctrl-click for mac) or 2.) Click on the flyout button located at the top right corner of the clip.
The "Speed" option should show up in the flyout menu.  This is only available for video layers.  If you're working with still or smart objects the speed option is not available.

  • When I view or upload files (such as on You Tube) there is no longer normal image movement. All action has a "strobe" effect as in slow motion, but audio seems normal. Is this a plug-in problem?

All of a sudden when I view a file that's been downloaded, or viewed on line, whether in Windows Media, or on You Tube on line site, or Power DVD Play program, the image appears as if it was in a slow motion "strobe" effect, while the audio sounds consistent, (barring the frequent stalls). If I burn a DVD, it has the slow motion strobe effect burnt into the disc as well & is difficult to view on a DVD player. Is this a plug-in problem that has suddenly manifested, and is there a way of getting the system back to it's normal operation??

    Hello Joe.
Try disabling all add-ons (that's extensions, plugins and themes, go into ''Tools > Add-ons'') except for Flash and see if the problem persists. If they don't, enable one add-on at a time until you find the problem. If they do, try a new [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Managing+profiles Firefox profile] and see if it has the same issues. If it does (make sure other plugins aren't enabled), you need to contact Adobe for support on their Flash plugin ([https://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/ updating] it will be the first thing they tell you to do). If it doesn't, please tell me.

  • What is the suggested frame rate to record in for fast / slow motion processing from a clip recorded

I want to create a video however I only have 1 dslr camera and I want the ability to post process the clips I record to be either in slow motion or fast motion. I don't want to have to record something in 24fps then 60fps. is there an ideal frame rate for both. What are some of the best practices for this in regards to recording and post processing in Premiere Pro.
Example of fast and slow video. Thanks.
    http://vimeo.com/75259949

The ideal is to shoot in different frame rates, one for real time footage and one for fast or slow motion clips.  This is called under and overcranking.  It means you have to decide when shooting whether the clip will be real time or not.
Less than ideal is to shoot everything at one frame rate and then slow it down or speed it up later.  It's less than ideal because the effect is never as perfect as the ideal method.  Especially in PP, which does not do very well with slow motion to the point I recommend using After Effects instead.  (At least with 24 fps media.)
On a side note, you can help solve the horrible slow-motion problem:

  • Adding Effects like slow motion, fast motion etc...

On the old imovie you could add animations, slow motion/fast motion, and other graphics to clips. How do you do the same with imove 08 most important the slow motion feature?

I'm currently using iMovie 08 and I would switch to iMovie 06 but when I try to install it but the message "Please install iLife ’08 before installing iMovie HD 6" pops up. My computer went through a hard drive crash recently and when they replaced it I thought they popped in iLife '08 (hence being stuck with iMovie 08) but i dunno... suggestions?

  • Slow motion/fast motion effect

    Hi guys
I'm making my first music video for a song I made. It'll be my first time learning and using a video production software, and I'm not sure if iMovie will be able to handle these type of effects or if I should invest in Final Cut Pro X instead.
Basically I want this type: https://youtu.be/BYbJmQj5VkE?t=50s
Where I can speed up the pace of the video faster than it's normal speed. Is iMovie capable of doing this? Would I also be able to do the opposite whereas I could slow down a video less than it's normal speed? slow motion I'm sure it's called.
Please let me know, Thank You.

iMovie can speed up or slow-down video, read the Manual:
    http://help.apple.com/imovie/mac/10.0.6/?lang=en#/mov6c442b2eb
For sure, you can not adjust precisely as you can do in FCPX ...

    High ambitiions, but: why not?
You do know, that the effect you linked to, asks for a special way how you record teh scene?
The clip is speed-up, but singer is lip-sync - that is not done by software/post-production!
While recording, you need a slowed-down version of your music, and the singer has to 'sing' to THAT sloooow version - which looks (and sounds) incredible silly on set
Then, in the edit-room, the video gets accelerated to 'normal', which makes the background moving faster........
Here comes FCPX into the game: there you just drag'n-squeeze the re-timed clips to make it fit to music - done.
iMovie is limited to a few setting.
Hint: Make some tests in the backyard, before you try the Big Thing!
    fingers-crossed, happy movie making!

  • Slow-Motion/Fast-Motion.

Just wondering if there is a way to gradually slow down a clip from keyframe to keyframe, as in add a gradual slow motion from one point to another not just an immediate slow down and that being the same speed between the two points.
Also is there a way to do this for fast-motion as opposed to slow-motion?

If you are referring to the Time Remap filter (...thanks Ian...) you can see the result only in the canvas: make sure you +always render+ the clip after applying or changing parameters, in order to see the final quality (without rendering, you can get very unusual results... even with RT Unlimited).

  • IMovies 10.0.4: How do I get Slow Motion and Fast Forward (Speed Editor) to function?

I am using iMovie 10.0.4 and cannot get fast-forward or slow-motion functions to work.  I have organized my clips into a Project and attempting to edit them in the Timeline.  With the target clip selected in Timeline, I am unable to access the fast-forward or slow motion functions in the menu bar nor by right-clicking to select the Speed Editor.  Example screenshot below.   Thanks for any help you can throw my way.

    Hi,
    I have this problem too.
Do you have the issue only on new projects ?
Do you still have an old project where you used slow motion ? if so, just duplicate the project and cleanup all clips from the new project and you have a clean empty project with working speed controls. It works for me.
    Let me know.
I've created my own question about it because I didn't see yours at first.

  • How to best achieve slow motion and fast motion

Hi - I am new to the forum and a basic user of Premiere Pro CS5. I am working on a project shot at 24 fps, and would like to do slow and fast motion.
From what i understand there are 2-3 different ways to do this in Premiere - choosing speed/duration of the clip from timeline, or choosing time remapping form effects panel ot using rate stretch tool. Wondering how do these compare and which is better - any pointers for this will be great help. Also is slow motion and fast motion better done in After Effects than Premiere. Or any recommended plugins that would work on cs5 and cs5.5. Thanks.

The main difference between using time-remapping and just using time-stretching is that time-remapping allows you to change the speed quite flexibly at different times in the same clip, whereas stretching just changes the rate for the whole clip.
    See this page:
"Change speed and duration for one or more clips"
    > Also is slow motion and fast motion better done in After Effects than Premiere.
After Effects has far more control, especially with regard to how new image information is created between the original frames when you change speed and require frame interpolation (frame blending). Pixel Motion and Timewarp use a very advanced motion vector method (based on the Foundry's Kronos software) for doing this.
    See "Time-stretching and time-remapping".

  • Slow motion sound in audio - imovie5

I am so frustrated. I have had so many audio problems in imovie5. This is the worst. The sound is like it is in slow motion!! What happened? I have put it on standard quality. I have used QT 7.01 and it seemed to work on other videos. How can I change it without redoing my whole video. It is a musical from a drama class this summer. It happened after I extracted the sound which I had to do so it is insync with the video. Now every audio sound is slow motion - even songs from itunes. Can somebody help me?
    Thanks,
    Sandy

I do not know if I have saved the original movie files on one of my two external harddrives. I will always duplicate the original movie now.
Jeff - my understanding is that iMovie HD saves an original version of a project when it performs an update to the HD version. See this topic in Matti Haveri's site here:
    http://www.sjoki.uta.fi/~shmhav/iMovieHDbugs.html#format
So, you may find that you still have a copy of the original project. If you still have your iLife discs, iMovie can be extracted from them. All you need is iLife '04 - iMovie 4 won't mess with a version 3 project (from memory), so it's safe to open in version 4. If you have iLife '04, but can't separately extract iMovie, you can download the shareware program "Pacifist" (US$20) which will easily allow you to install iMovie from the iLife disc. You can download the program here: http://www.charlessoft.com/
You should also be able to extract an earlier version from your OS 10.2 install discs - but I'm not sure what version would be on them. If you do install an earlier version, firstly rename or make sure that your current version is not named just iMovie - rename it to iMovie HD 5.0.2 (or whatever) if necessary. This will prevent the installer overwriting your current version.
All the best with your latest project "Big Sur In Motion" and thanks for posting back Jeff. This link to Dan Slagle's excellent site may provide some additional information: http://www.danslagle.com/mac/iMovie/index.shtml

  • Slow-Motion and Fast forward

    Hi,
Let me know if you can implement these functions with OSMF.
    Thanks
    Steve

If you use RTMP streaming with FMS you need to check the docs for NetStream.step() method:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlatform/beta/reference/actionscript/3/flash/net/NetStrea m.html#step()
Implementing this in OSMF is not trivial. You'll need to get deep into the OSMF NetLoader APIs (there are lots of posts explaining how to create custom NetLoaders in this forum).
You can also emulate fast-forward with seek() calls, and slow-motion with pause() calls This might be somewhat easier to implement and it will work for progressive content too, but the performance might be much worse than using the step() approach.
Let us know how it goes,
    Andrian
