Slow motion plug in?

Is there a plug in for final or motion for slow-motion that is better than frame-blending, motion-blur and optical flow?

How much money have you got?
ReVision Twixtor comes to mind, US$600.

Easier to reshoot or shoot properly with enough frames per second to make the task more palatable. Optical flow is similar to pixel vector path estimation technology used in Twixtor.

  • How do you install "Twixtor" excellent Slow Motion plug in for FCP

    Hi,
I have the Twixtor FxPlug Pro v5.0.1 but can't get to install it properly.
I have seen some posts in the web but for me there is no clue how to install it.
The installer installs it in the root of HD folder, but later they say you have to "move" it where the plug ins for FCP are.... which I don't know....
The only links I found of help, but in my case I could'n solve it, were:

  • Searching for a low-cost plug for doing better slow motion clips.

Where can I find a low-cost or free plug-in for doing better slow motion clips? I produce alot of sports videos and use FCPHD but am looking for better quality. I am not necessarily looking for time-remapping (it confuses the ** out of me). Just want to simply slow down clips and not be as choppy as FCP turns out.
    Thanks for any help!

  • When I view or upload files (such as on You Tube) there is no longer normal image movement. All action has a "strobe" effect as in slow motion, but audio seems normal. Is this a plug-in problem?

All of a sudden when I view a file that's been downloaded, or viewed on line, whether in Windows Media, or on You Tube on line site, or Power DVD Play program, the image appears as if it was in a slow motion "strobe" effect, while the audio sounds consistent, (barring the frequent stalls). If I burn a DVD, it has the slow motion strobe effect burnt into the disc as well & is difficult to view on a DVD player. Is this a plug-in problem that has suddenly manifested, and is there a way of getting the system back to it's normal operation??

    Hello Joe.
Try disabling all add-ons (that's extensions, plugins and themes, go into ''Tools > Add-ons'') except for Flash and see if the problem persists. If they don't, enable one add-on at a time until you find the problem. If they do, try a new [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Managing+profiles Firefox profile] and see if it has the same issues. If it does (make sure other plugins aren't enabled), you need to contact Adobe for support on their Flash plugin ([https://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/ updating] it will be the first thing they tell you to do). If it doesn't, please tell me.

  • When i try to do slow motion, program crashes

whenever i try to do slow motion or hold or fast motion, final cut pro x crashes.

check to see if it works properly on other clips..if it happens on any clip...
trash the prefs   if that fails...
remove any third party plug-ins   if that fails
    reinstall FCPx
I'm assuming you're FCPx Events and Projects folders are on an external drive...if not...there may be some other odd conflict.  Dunno if there are any particular issues with FCPx on MBAir with it's graphics card onboard and all....

  • Slow motion in final cut pro..help!

    hey guys,
I'm trying to do an ultra slow motion scene for a video, a pill dropping into a glass of water. i'm shooting it with a canon 7d at 60 FPS and for some reason i'm getting this awful warping...not smooth at all. i uploaded a video to show you what kind of result i was getting: http://vimeo.com/37878559
also, i'm using twixtor...maybe there is a better alternative to accomplish this shot through final cut pro without using a 3rd party plug-in such as twixtor? please help!

  • Best way to do Slow motion scene from Canon XHA1S (HDV)

The Canon (XHA1S UK version (PAL)) I have records 25f (progressive) and 50i at various shutter speeds and I have, until now always used optical flow in Motion or Change Speed within FCP to create slow motion effects of clips in my sequence. I almost always capture at 50i then bring it in transcoded to ProRes 442, and as I say either change the speed or send a clip to motion and roundtrip it with an optical flow apllied. Is there a better way or more appropriate codec I shlould use to ingress/transcode the origional captured tape to make the the sequence clips ? I know there are some Plug-Ins such as Twixtor out there but given the fairly small amount of times I need this I do not want to spend hundreds of bucks on that if I can get a better result with the FCP / Motion I have. FYI my system looks like this FCP 7.0.2 , Motion 4.0.2 (FCS3) on a MP 2009 Quad Core 2.26,12Gb RAM, Graphics ATI HD4870 (512 Mb VRAM) -
Many Thanks in Advance - Jim

you could try this Jim, a plugin called 'Too much too soon"
Like yourself I also have a XHA1, and use slow mo quite a lot. I never use motion for it, but I have twixtor too. Twixtor is definately the best - but the process to go about getting a slow mo clip is a joke! When you select the clip and apply say a 50% speed it doesn't extend the length of the clip on the timeline, and you can't drag the edges out either side either!! Instead you have to take the original clip, create a new sequence, duplicate the clip, and then bring that sequence back into your edit - and then apply Twixtor!!!You can imagine if your doing that with a whole editied 'montage' of slow motion it's a total nightmare! (Twixtor seemingly claim that this is apple's fault for not 'letting then' have the tech to do it!)
This may be the next best thing though TMTS
    http://www.mattias.nu/plugins/
It's FREE! The quality is somewhere between FCP slow mo and Twixtor, but a LOT easier to apply than twixtor.

  • How do you add video effects-slow motion

Not real happy with 08 over previous versions but I would like to gain back some of the functionality that I regularly used. How do I add special effects, such as slow motion to a video clip or a portion of a video clip.

How do you do it IMovie HD in Ilife 08?
Both applications can be run on the same computer. Use whichever application best serves your needs. If you need a lot of plug-in effects, use HD. If few or nor effects other than standard transitions and titles are required and speed is paramount, then use iMovie '08. If you like being innovative and want to try your hand at creating your own effects, use iMovie '08 and learn how perform pre- and post-edits to create your own fast motion, slow motion, stop motion, pseudo time lapse, still framed, backgrounded, blended, layered, picture-in-picture, etc. that may "tickle your fancy."

  • Where is my slow motion?  Treat still clips as photos?

I started a project in iMovie HD about 6 months ago. I now have the time to pick it up again and I have noticed that my ability to change the speed of the clip is gone. I'm not sure what happened or how to get it back, but I will definitely need this in order to proceed. All my plug-ins for transitions are gone too. I'm pretty sure I can easily re-install those, but the slow motion is the most important. Please help!
Secondly, is there any way when creating a still clip from footage to treat that as a photo so I can apply the "Ken Burns effect"? In other words, I'd like to scan the still image in the movie instead of having it stagnant for a certain period of time. Hopefully that makes sense. Any suggestions on this would be very helpful.
    Thank you!

  • What is the best afordable/free Slow motion plugin for AE CS6?

Howdy! I am new here and I couldn't really find the answer I was looking for. I need a affordable or Free is even better plugin for AE CS6 to do some editing on GoPro footage and some other High fps video. I really want a smooth and minimal blur effect. Doesn't have to be perfect but better than what I got now. Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thank you
    Teflon

MOST PEOPLE do not understand frame rates and slow motion. High frame rate compositions do not improve slow motion. Video works the same way that film does. Shoot at a high frame rate and playback every frame on a projector that is running slower than your camera was running. Simple as that.
Time remapping with frame blending is included with AE. If you shoot with your GoPro at 60 or higher just open the footage in AE, interpret the footage as 29.97 or other standard frame rate like 24 or 23.976, then drop the footage in a comp with the same frame rate and you'll have you slow mo with no problem. That's the same thing as shooting film at 60fps or 100fps and threading up the film in a projector that runs 24fps. If you want to slow it down further use Time Remapping.
The only other really good plug-in is Twixtor, but that's expensive. All others are about the same as what's included with AE.

  • Decent slow motion without artifacts?

I can't get decent half speed slow motion in AE CS6. Frame blending looks horrible with all the double contours in fast moving objects, and pixels motion looks much better motion wise, but introduces horrible motion artifacts. I also tried Pixel Motion using the Timewarp effect to have more control over tweaking it, but no matter what parameters I change, I still get the artifacts. So it looks like After Effects by itself doesn't have a good way to do slow motion that looks great, at least not for the footage I'm using.
Are there any other filters I can try, whether in AE or 3rd party that will go a great job?
    Thanks,
    Sebastian

As Rick said, blaming it on a specific plug-in/ feature is kinda missing the point. Half the magic happens during shooting. If I knew I'd want to slow things down, I'd get the camera that would offer the highest framerate and least compression, even if it means an expensive rental of an ARRI camera. If that's not possible then you'll have to make do with what you have and try to fix it in post. Using a sophisticated tool like Twixtor no doubt is always an option, but many times it starts with simpler things like trying to reduce block artifacts or evening out color. Such basic stuff often helps the algorithms a lot. The same as you would when doing keying. Also you can always try to mask specific parts and slow them down in separate pre-comps. It may give alignment issues, but if you want to do some sky replacment or keying, it would be acceptable to proceed this way...

  • Slow motion and iMovie 5

I'm wanting to create a slow motion effect in iMovie 5.0.2. As we all know iMovie's slow motion effect is less than satisfactory (jerky). I've tried using JES Deinterlacer but have run into problems with it. In my research I've come across an iMovie plug-in sold by Partners in Rhyme that claims to create a smooth slow mo effect. Has any one had any experience with this plug-in and is it compatible with iMovie 5? You can see it here: http://www.partnersinrhyme.com/osx_software/TimeEffects1/TimeEffects1.shtml

    Hi jayfan:
(I'm an Illini fan...) But, I will still answer you
That plugin is actually one of many offered by Stupendous Software
They are very reputable and it should work great with iMovie 5.

  • HP 2000 Notebook - No sound and some slow motion in video playback

I had plugged in headphones while watching a video on youtube.
The video on youtube suddenly got snow and stopped playing and the sound in the computer  stopped working as well. The sound icon has a red X.
The system is not detecting any problem.
I am not computer savvy so need simple steps please.
I checked the speakers, tried to update the software but no software update needed.
    I have tried rebooting.
My last option is to do the recovery which I do not want to do.
    PLEASE HELP!
Also the DVD player sometimes do a slow motion play while doing T25; it wasn't doing this before. I thought it was maybe how it was but its not.

    Hello cbabos,
I see that you are having a no sound problem on your computer. I would like to help with this issue but I need some information.
Can you provide the model and product number of the computer? Here is a link that shows how to find that information.

  • Twixtor slow motion problem

Hello, I was using twixtor to modify some footage I have and make it slow motion but for some reasons everytime I turn the speed down the footage is blurred and it has some kind bad frame timing. I modified the frames from the composition to be exactly like the ones from my footage so there shouldn't be any problem.

I took a look at the footage and it looks like the frame rate is wrong. It's hard to tell because you put up an FLV file and didn't post the original footage. The FLV does not contain all of the frames and the frame rate doesn't match the movie because there are a bunch of repeated frames.
    Here are a few thoughts.
You shot with a DSLR so there are some rolling shutter problems that must be fixed to keep the car from distorting. There are plug-ins for that. Fix the rolling shutter problems (jello cam) first.
You may have interlacing issues and 3:2 pulldown issues. Make sure that every frame of the movie is properly interpreted. You can do this by dragging the original clip into the new comp icon, then doubling the frame rate of the composition, then interpreting the footage as interlaced. If the footage is interlaced you'll see a different frame every time you advance one frame. If you see 2 or 3 different frames, then 2 duplicate frames, the footage has 3:2 pulldown. You must remove it. If, after you set footage interpretation to separate fields you only see pairs of frames, then the footage is truly progressive.
Once you have the footage properly interpreted make sure that the interpretation is exactly copied to the appropriate fields in Twixtor and experiment with all the settings, isolate the background, and you should get acceptable results.
None of these suggestions will work if your footage is misinterpreted. If you want to post the original footage to You Send It or Dropbox I'll gladly take a look when I can.

  • More frames for super slow motion

Hi everyone. I'm trying to figure something out and I think I need some help.
I do highlight videos of assorted stuff and I wanna do a super slow motion effect. Nothing longer than a second on real time, but blow it to 10 seconds on slow motion.
When I do this I obviously get various issues and it looks horrible.
I cannot reshoot the footage with another camera or with a higher shutter speed. This is stuff done at a particular event and they just give me the footage from the truck.
I was wondering if there's any software, plug-in, effect or technique to achieve this super slow motion look but without the light "blinks" or "stop motion" you get when you go really slow.
I think what I may need to do is to find a way to create extra frames (somehow) to get a smooth effect/transition between frame, but I just can't achieve it.
    Any help/suggestion would be appreciated.
    Thanx.
PS: If motion or compressor can do this, that would be great too.

    you've answered your own question!
both Motion and Compressor can be used to create a better quality slowmo
