Slow motion problem publishing from imovie to idvd

The problem is with publishing a film to idvd from imovie. The slow motion clips "glitch up" when viewed on idvd but run smoothly when viewed on imovie. The visual of the slow motion clip pauses as the audio continues. The movie picks up as normal after the slow motion scene ends. There is another point in the movie where a non-slow motion scene does the same thing (visual pauses and audio continues) until the end of the entire movie. The glitch stops before the credits (which is not filmed fottage). How do I fix this?

hmmmm..I would double check the other clips. Other than that I am stumped. Maybe someone else will have some ideas.
Also, once you changed to 25%, you need to re-SHARE the video. (If you haven't already)

  • Problems with soundtrack when publishing from imovie to idvd

When I publish to file or idvd the sound track that is turned off in imovie will play on the published version. It doesn't play on imovie, but plays in background of any format that I publish the project in. How do I get rid of this background sound?

    Thank you for the information.

  • Problems converting from iMovie to iDVD

First of all, I'm new to this so I apologize if this is a ridiculous question.
I just spent days building a movie in iMovie, complete with photos and music. Because I couldn't figure out how to chop the songs to the lengths or starting positions I needed, I just used the volume control (click on the line and a yellow ball shows up and you can drag it down) to fade out songs as new ones were started. As a result, two songs are often playing at once but you can't hear one of them as I have that particular song turned down (which is good).
Problem: When I converted the movie to iDVD so I could burn it, the volumes were all back up and the songs play at once.
    HELP!
    Thank you.

    Hi S
Go back to Your iMovie project.
Play it. Is it still OK ?
IF not. iMovie rendering process has harmed it. Re-import the photos and re-edit it.
Now - Don't use the "Share/Export to iDVD" function in iMovie.
    Just close iMovie.
Locate Your movie project icon (with a Star on it). (I use to store it on my DeskTop.)
Start iDVD and import the movie icon.
Now iDVD will do the rendering an so much better.
    This might work for You.

  • Problems sharing project from iMovie to iDVD

I understand that in order to share my project from iMovie to iDVD, I must go to Share > iDVD. I did this, then began adding a main menu and other details to my project in iDVD. Then I went to view the project. I discovered some errors I had made while editing the project in iMovie, so I quit iDVD and went back to iMovie to make the corrections.
After I fixed my project, I went back to Share > iDVD to discover that iDVD had been grayed out. I have already tried:
    1. Restarting the computer
    2. Duplicating the project
I have the latest versions of all the software (just bought my MacBook over the holidays). Help, please.

    Hi,
I am having the same problem with imovie - did you ever resolve this problem?
    Thanks

  • Quick Question (re:exporting from iMovie into iDVD)

    Hello everyone!
I just have a quick question for you all... (I want to see if this is normal - I'm on a deadline and this is kind of freaking me out)
So, we have a 20 minute or so video in iDVD. It plays fine, etc etc. The goal is to burn it to a DVD.
I used the "Export -> to iDVD" function in iMovie, which launched iDVD.
But here is the weird thing: nothing comes up in iDVD. It doesn't make a new file, doesn't give me anything... it is just open, waiting for me to create a new project to work with.
YET, if I look in the Activity Monitor, I do see that EncoderServer (using 123% CPU) and ThumbnailServer (both iDVD processes) are running.... but shouldn't iDVD have told me it is working or that it is dealing with data?
This is very un-"apple". I totally would have expected a progress bar of some sort in iDVD telling me it is working or something.... or is something wrong and I should try to export it in a different way?
(I guess the underlying question is: when you export from iMovie to iDVD, does iDVD normally give you any 'heads-up' that it is working? how long does it normally take to open the project in iDVD?)

    Hi Matt!
when you export from iMovie to iDVD, does iDVD normally give you any 'heads-up' that it is working? how long does it normally take to open the project in iDVD?)
    Yes, and it's instant.
What you should see is iDVD opening and asking you to create a new project, It will suggest naming it the same as the iMovie project.
There are reports that exporting from Imovie to iDVD can produce problems. What I do is save the iMovie project and close iMovie. Open iDVD, create the new DVD project, then go the File menu in iDVD, scroll down to Import, and in the side menu select Video. This open your Movie Folder, wherein resides your iMovie project. Select it and it imports into iDVD in a flash.
Remember: iMovie projects go in the Movies Folder, iDVD projects go in the Documents folder. Change that, and they get very confused and unhappy.

  • Audio drops when movie exported from iMovie into iDVD

    Hi there,
I am a problem which I can't seem to fix.
I have created a 7 minute long slideshow in imovie with MP3 files from iTtunes embedded. The video and audio are fine when exported as a MOV file (and within iMovie itself). But when exported into iDVD for burning, the audio drops out completely after 3 and a half minutes.
I've tried updating iMovie, iDVD etc., deleting encoded assets as it says to do here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TA24043?viewlocale=en_US
    to no avail.
Does anyone have any tips? My friend's wedding is on Saturday!
    Thanks so much.

  • Poor quality exporting from iMovie to iDVD

When I export a dv movie from iMovie to iDVD, the quality drops significantly. A nice clean movie imported from a dv camcorder to iMovie becomes horrible pixelated mess once exported into iDVD and actually burned into a DVD. No matter what quality settings one uses.
It seems like many people experience similar problems, judging by postings (unanswered, as far as I can tell). It also appears that basically everyone using iMovie has this problem, but most people are content with poor quality DVDs, or are they?
Does anyone know why this is so, and if there is any workaround? You know, the simplest way out is to switch to a PC and use one of their standard movie editing software, but isn't Mac supposed to be better for this purpose?

    Hi
    A.
If You included photos into Your movie and used Share/Export to iDVD. iMovie
asks to render the material = Destructive in two ways:
    • Losy iDVD project
    • Original iMovie IS HARMED: Photos needs to be re-imported and re-edited.
    • Re do the import and editing.
    • Close iMovier
    • Open iDVD
    • Drop iMovie project icon (with a Star on it) into iDVD
    Done.

There are a major difference between a Mac Monitor and a Standard TV (much less
sharpness due to 525 - 625 lines (NTSC or PAL))
I connect my Camera to my Mac (via FW) and analog out to a TV so that I can monitor
the process during iMovie editings. (iMovie preferences set Playback via Camera)

  • How do I move from iMovie to iDvd?

I am new user to both iMovie and iDvd (both in iLife 09). I have made my first movie in iMovie and it is 1 hour 49 minutes. How do I get the movie to iDvd? I tried Share, iDvd, and it worked away for an hour, then gave me an error message that the movie exceeds maximum content duration? Huh? I saw some postings about that and to change encoding settings, but do not know where those are.
If I go to iDvd, I thought if I went to Media and iMovie, it should show all movies in there, but my movie does not show up in that area. It is in iMovie in the Project area in both an original and duplicate form. How do I get my movie into iDvd for best quality, what kind of settings do I need, and where do I do that?

I think I found the answer to my question. According to a message I got in iDvd when attempting to open the movie I was told that I should choose Share, Media Browser. Seems like it should be Share, iDvd, but that is what it says. Also, I found the setting in Preferences for encoding and see I need to make it Professional. Guess I had a misunderstanding of encoding, too. I thought that would not be relevant until burning a cd, but evidently it is involved when taking the movie from iMovie to iDvd.

  • Import files into iDVD from iMovie OR export files from iMovie to iDVD?

I've been told it is better to import iMovie projects into iDVD (within iDVD) rather than exporting from iMovie to iDVD within iMovie. I was told that iDVD does a better job of rendering things than iMovie. Is this true because this is not the instructions given in the iMovie tutorial.

Not sure what advice you have been given and how you have interpreted it.
You are of course referring to im6 here since you can't drag projects from im08 to iDVD.
I don't make many DVD's anymore and may well be wrong here but I'm not aware that dragging an im6 project to iDVD is any different than using share/iDVD and I'm wondering if the advice relates to exporting from im6 and then importing the exported movie into iDVD which is indeed a different workflow.

  • Can't get a project from iMovie to iDVD to burn

I did this once before when I was making a test DVD and it worked very simply.  I shot about 50 min of video with my camera, downloaded it into iMovie and burned it to a CD-R from iDVD.  It played back perfectly on my DVD player.  Now that I'm trying to do it with a 2 hour video I shot, I cannot figure out how to get the (3 part) movie from iMovie to iDVD to burn?  It all seemed obvious the first time and now nothing is working. I have the almost 2 hour video saved in both my Event Library and Project Library but cannot figure out where to go from here.  Help!

Share to Media Browser (large) then import into an iDVD project?

  • Takes too long to convert from iMovie to IDVD

Does anyone know how to cut down the amount of time that it takes to transfer from iMovie to IDVD? A 55 minute video on iMovie takes close to 4 hours to have a finished burned DVD ready to play at any player.

The conversion process is very CPU intenstive and HD intensive. DO you have any other programs running during the conversion time? Free HD is key too. Not for the finished product, but for the scratch space needed during the conversion.
CHeck out istat menu to get an idea of what is doing what when you are converting. Menumeters is another one.. both are free.

  • Sound problem during render from iMovie to iDVD

I created an iMovie project that plays beautifully on my iMac G5 with OS X v 10.4.5.
When it comes time to create a DVD project, iMovie tells me that because of two slow motion scenes, that "rendering" has to be performed.
Within iDVD, the video plays fine. But the sound is warbled and slow (though in the correct key) throughout.
I closed iDVD, iMovie, rebooted, and tried to create another iDVD, but the same thing occurred.
Is there a way I can salvage this project?

    Hi, Paul,
iMovie 'renders' slo-mo in a way that you don't really want--as you discovered. So, get your movie into iDVD without letting iMovie render it. Try doing it this way:
Instead of sending your iMovie to iDVD from within iMovie, close iMovie.
Open iDVD, and create a new project. Click on the 'custom' button, and navigate to the 'Media' tab. Select 'Movies' and find your iMovie in the little window. Drag it onto the iDVD screen. Be sure not to put it into a drop zone. Then, make the titles and buttons the way you wish.
Save the DVD as disk image. You can play that after it is finished to see if the sound is what you want. If so, go ahead and burn your DVD.
    Hope this helps!!

  • Problems to export from iMovie to iDVD

    Hi,
I made a film using iMovie and, when I try to export it to iDVD, an information board tells me that it's impossible due to a "mystake 0". The board asks me to check if the program is correctly installed (it is) and if I have enough space disk (I have plenty).
Can you please help me. This film is very important to me.
    Thanks in advance !
    Hakim

Hello, and welcome to the discussions!
Have you ever burned a DVD? If not, try making a 2 min movie in a new iMovie project and see if you can burn it as a disk image.
You might receive the 'Error 0' message if you are using purchased iTunes songs in your movie.
Try deleting the plists for both iMovie and iDVD. plists found in Username->Library->Preferences->com.apple.iMovieplist/ com.apple.iDVDplist.
Then, if you can save a short movie as a disk image, you are not using purchased iTunes music, and you have deleted the plists---don't use the 'create DVD' from within iMovie. Close iMovie. Open iDVD. I recommend you create a new iDVD project for your film. After selecting the theme, go to the 'media' tab and find the 'movies' and drag and drop your movie onto the iDVD main screen. Finish making your titles, scene selection themes, etc.
Then, try saving the project as a disk image. If that works, you can burn your DVD using Disk Utility to burn in from the disk image.
Post back if this is not clear or does not work.

  • Problems with exporting iMovie to iDVD

i want to export from iMovie 6.03 to iDVD 7.02. iDVD does´nt start.
    What is the Problem ?
    <Edited by Moderator>

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Try the following;
    1 - close iMovie.
2 - open iDVD, set your theme, etc.
3 - drag the iMovie project file into the iDVD menu window being sure to miss any drop zones present.
This will let iDVD do the encoding of any transitions in iMovie instead of iMovie thus eliminating additional compressions to the movie.
When you have the iDVD project as you want it use the File->Save as disk image menu option to save it as a disk image. That will allow you to preview the project using DVD Player to make sure the encoding was correct. Once you're happy with the disk image you can burn it to disk using Disk Utility at the slowest speed available. Also use top grade media like Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden -R disks.
