Chances are you'll brick the phone updating via dial-up net connection because it is known to be unstable and can interrupt the update process..I'd suggest that you got a Nokia Service Center and have them update the phone themselves.

so i have read quite a lot on here which has all been very interesting so i hope you will bare with someone who really does not know a lot about computers.
Since the dreaded Yosemite upgrade my mac has ground to more or less a total halt trying to open the internet in any number of browsers (safari and firefox to name but two).
I have been able to run a speed test and says my wifi has my 60+gb download speed and about 6 upload so no issue there.
I am confused to say the least what has gone wrong as my phone and iPad seem to work ok. Can anyone tell me in simple terms if there are any solutions what the problem is as i am really crippled and my business is suffering.
PS Apple i am really not impressed by this totally botched upgrade and when going into a store to see one of the technicians they will only see you if you pay.. this is your fault i might remind you.

Apple doesn’t routinely monitor the discussions. These are mostly user to user discussions.
Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

haha, so now i'm thinking. I'm learning the terminal as fast as i can but there are several lines of codes and commands in there that throws up red flags to me that i don't fully understand. It just looks fishy too me. It would be highly appreciated if someone could just check this out just to tell me that i don't need to worry about it. Or point me in the right direction. I just feel un easy about this. ha.

There is something Definitely wrong with iOS 7 regarding DATA USAGE being logged to wireless carrier in for WIFI instead.
I read all the previous replies and same issue.
I rarely use my mac to sync....its all wifi sync for the last 2 years....never had this issue before... and i know it began with iOS7.... here is why....
My iPhone was at home when I updated to iOS7 connected to wifi...but it logged Data Usage to Rogers Wireless (700MB approx)...data will never do an update over 50mb in app store (it gives the warning to use wifi) I play a lot of games and pay for them so I always update through App Store. 2 weeks later, simposons halloween update (650mb)...at home, using wifi.
Rogers told me there was 700+mb data usage on the day of update and 650+mb data on oct 1.st (tapped out).
Went over my 6GB plan and paid the fees.
This has never happened before...It must come to apples attention by now...

Because Apple's not spent those billions of bucks lying around on a modern, high-speed delivery system or providing DVDs for those who don't have high-speed connections or uncapped DL capabilities.

Help needed:MBP net connection slow on OSX but fast on Vista...

Ok..I've searched these forums for a while, seen lots of posts taking about people having problems with their airport card, routers and the like..but I haven't seen anyone having quite the same problem as me. My 17" 2.33Ghz C2D is linked to my 1Mb ADSL internet connection via an Aztech DSL600EW modem router.The problem is that the connection speed is really slow when I'm running the machine on OSX. I know it's an OSX thing cos the same machine,connected to the same router and running Windows Vista via Bootcamp will connect to the net ALOT faster. For example, if I'm viewing videos on youtube with OSX, I have to wait every few seconds for the video to buffer, but on Vista, the buffering is way ahead of the video. Another example would be downloading files...say from rapidshare. The typical download speed I get on OSX would be around 5-10Kbps, but with Vista, I get at least 25Kbps.
I'm quite new to OSX, and still trying to learn my way around the operating system. It seems such a pity for a really great machine with a really great operating system to be let down by slow internet connection. I hope someone out there will be able to help me sort this out. Thanks in advance.

So it is imposible to download any file > 10MB.
What can i do ? Is there any ftp server from where i can resume my downloads?

So that we may better diagnose DOWNLOAD problems, please provide the following information.
- Server name
- Filename
- Date/Time
- Browser + Version
- O/S + Version
- Error Msg

It should also show in purchases that you have downloaded it. That means you can download it again as you already own it, for free.

Not sure if you performed this or not, once you do a factory reset, immediately after that you are suppose to perform a factory reset by holding is the reset button in on the back of the linksys router for 30 seconds, then wait about 2-3 minutes for the router to sync back up.
Important = Write down your previous settings in the router as they will be erased and you will have to manually input the info.

Here are some steps to follow for a slow or poor connection.
1.      Give your network a unique SSID and do not use Linksys and set your SSID Broadcast to enable.
2.      You can also try A different channel. There are 11 channels and 1, 6 or 11 is better
3.      You can try raising your router approximately 4-6 feet above the floor and make sure the antennas are vertical.
4.      access your wireless software by going to your Profile or preferred networks, if any are named Linksys or ones that you do not know please delete them. Go to the settings or properties and check the information to make sure it is correct.
5.      See if there are any updated drivers to download.
6.      Try to use WPA encryption if you can

Slow RDP Connections

I have a Server 2008 with 8 desktops in an office. No LAN issues connecting to the server. No performance issues. Only some complaints with slow internet connections.
2 separate locations use terminal services to connect to the server. Both locations have slow refresh rates perhaps? Performance seems slow.

Does this issue happens for initial connection or for all RDP connections?
What happen if you make RDP connection within same location? Have you find the same slow RDP connections issue over there?
If you don’t find issue within same location then the cause is usually network related.
- Also for a test try to disable all the redirections (Driver, Printers, video, Clipboard, etc.) and check the result.
- Disable IPv6 in NIC setting. - Try to disable chimney, task offload and RSS by following command and then check the result.
NETSH INT TCP SET GLOBAL CHIMNEY=DISABLED
NETSH INT IP SET GLOBAL TASKOFFLOAD=DISABLED
NETSH INT TCP SET GLOBAL RSS=DISABLED
In addition to above try to edit the .RDP file and add the following line.

Thunderport to ethernet slow internet connection

Hello,
I just bought a Thunderbolt to Gigabit Ethernet connection cable for my MBA Mid 2012 and I'm experiencing slow internet connection. I have TWC 50mbs service and routinely test at around 55mbs on Speedtest.net. I just plugged in the Thunderbolt to Gigabit Ethernet cable and now it's down to a trickle at around 1-2mbs down and up. Ping times are good, just the throughput is slow.
Is this normal? Thanks!

Thank you both for your quick help! I figured out it was my Network setting, I had to set it to manual and to 1000baseT or something like that with full duplex. Now I am getting full throughput. I think for some reason, the "Automatic" setting wasn't working with my Switch (DLink Gigabit 8 port switch). When I went to manual, it worked.

Stealth mode attempts slowing adsl connection or killing it!

G'day,
I found this topic in another thread somewhere in here, but for some reason it was closed down. :confused:
For the last two weeks I have found in the Console log that I have been getting stealth mode and UDP communications attackes when I hook my P/Book up to my wireless network via A/port Express which is linked to my A/port Extreme Base Station. I have set up the Firewall to detect stealth mode attacks, block UDP communications etc., and when I get these attacks it is either drastically slowing my net connection down or causing me to lose connection altogether.
What can I do to stop these attacks from killing my ADSL connection?
I haven't installed any secuirity updates as I'm very wary of them killing my Macs, as they have done in the past.
This situation is really pinging me off big time and if anyone could help out I'd be really greatful.

Unbearably slow Internet connection using WDS network

We have an old Airport Extreme (saucer, 802.11b/g) and an Airport Express (802.11n, b/g compatible). We're using the Extreme as a WDS main, and the Express as WDS relay. Wireless devices that connect to the Internet in our house include a MacBook Pro, a couple of iPhones, an iPod Touch, an XBox 360, and a PS3.
None of these wireless devices are in direct line of sight to the main base station. Typically, our connection to the Internet is decent for the XBox, which has almost a clear line of sight to the relay (Express) base station. On the other hand, the connection for the MacBook Pro, iPhones, and iPod, is extremely slow. Maybe the actual connection speeds are the same for all devices, but at least for the XBox online gaming works. (Haven't tried online gaming with the PS3 yet.)
The problem that compelled me to post this thread is the slow Internet connection to our MacBook. When our MacBook Pro is moved from its usual location to a place just a few feet away from the Extreme, download speeds are satisfactory (e.g. 10,000+ kbps measured using Speakeasy.net). However, when we sit farther away from the Extreme and are only a few feet from the Express, download speeds are dismal (200-300 kbps). The Internet connection is noticeably slow; web pages load like molasses, and watching streaming video is almost impossible. Upload speeds are usually about 7-10x faster, which is kind of strange.
Airtunes is off. We've tried setting up the Express base station as a WDS remote instead of relay, no difference. Allow wireless clients is turned on for both main and relay. Channel 1, WPA2 personal security.
Part of the problem may be due to the fact that our house is steel framed so, depending on location, the frame of the house may get in the way of our wireless network. But even if the MacBook is within 2 feet of the Express with NO walls or obstacles in between, the speed remains dismal. The line of sight from the Extreme (main) to the Express (relay) is impeded by a few obstacles but little in the way of walls.
However, if the MacBook is close to the Extreme, with good speeds, then I walk away and sit near the Express, I still get good download speeds. This lasts only a short time. Also, if I turn off Airport on my MacBook Pro and turn it back on again, speeds are back down right away.
I understand WDS cuts the bandwidth down substantially, so I decided to unplug the Express and just use the Extreme station, set to create a wireless network instead of participate as main in a WDS network. When I do this I get satisfactory speeds on the MacBook Pro, even sitting at a location where I used to get the slow speeds.
So at first I thought forgetting about WDS completely would seem to be the solution to the problem. That seems to be true for the MacBook, but when the Express is offline and the Extreme is the only base station, the XBox and PS3 now are the devices with a very poor connection to the Internet, as there are 3+ steel framed walls between the base station and the devices. When the WDS network is up, the XBox and PS3 are almost in direct line of sight to the relay station (but then I lose speed on the MacBook and other devices.)
I'm trying to find a solution that allows a good speed connection for all these devices. Right now I have to choose between a regular network with a good connection for my MacBook, or a WDS network that allows gaming but appears to be worthless for the MacBook.

The solution is to run an Ethernet cable from the LAN port on the AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) to the AirPort Express (AX). Then you won't need to use WDS and you won't suffer the bandwidth penalty of WDS. Then you would configure both the AEBS and AX to create a wireless network using the same SSID (network name) and wireless encryption type/level/password. The AX should be configured to act as a bridge (not sharing a single IP address).

Iphone 5 slow data connection on AT&T

My iphone 5 says LTE but the data connection is really slow. My daugter's iphone 4s on 4G was surfing the net faster than my LTE. I have ATT. Has anyone notice slow data connection since iOS6.1?

I've seen this from time to time. I'm assuming the LTE network is not 100% stable right now. If it's problematic, turn off LTE and use the HSPA+ network. Report the problem to AT&T.

The internet was working fine til 10:31am philippine time. Was downloading OSX Lion, at that time it was somewhere half. Then all of a sudden internet failed and lost connection. Called my ISP immediately and was told it would take 24-48hours for the service to be restored. THen after ending the call the OSx Lion icon disappeared. I dont know what to do. Im not techie at all.
