Slow perfromance
i recently bought the N73 ME and the firmware is not updated
and is of the original version. It has 2 GB card in it and the space utilised on the card is aroun200 Mb. The perfromance is a degraded one. Rebootin the phone and then taking out the battery,sim card and then pluggin it bacck in has been done.Any kind of help would be appreciated

I'm developing a java (swing) application which gets its data from an MS Acces database. It all works fine, but... very very slow. When I press a button to fill an Jlist with about 10 rows from the database, it easily takes up to 5 seconds and more to complete that action...

Slow perfromance on sort output?
we have a partitioned table that is range partitioned by month. It has partitions starting from feb_2010 to feb_2011
we forgot to split the overflow partiton since february and now I was running the alter table commmand to split the partition at mar_2011 and it has been running for a really long time (30 hours)? This is oracle 10.2.0.3 on rhel4. This is a pretty powerful server with 4 dual core cpu's and 96 gb of ram and also a dedicated emc cx4-240 disk sub system with 60 drives dedicated to thiss database. We are also using asm for our datatfiles.
I started the alter table command to split the partition yesterday at noon time so this has been running for bout 30 hours?
There are about 5 to 7 millions rows in each of the monthly partitions and then there was 30million rows in the overflow partition. The column width is small with only 6 columns and avg row length of 101.
i have been watching the process run and it ran a sort output for over 24 hours and i cant figure out why it is taking this long for only the amunt of rows the table has in it. it is now running another sort and it is dragging as well.
Could my temp file be corrupted? Other processes seem to be running fine as this is a data warehouse system and all other jobs are completing ontime?
The system has been more than 50% idle most of the time while this process has been running.
i dont want to kill the session and caue further problems.
Any thoughts on why this process could be taking soo long?

I sent in my TI4600 for service and MSI subed it with an fx5600. Sadly the card's performance is horrid. On Aguamark, I'm getting about 1/3 the performace of my old card.
It seams to be when it hits vegitation in the demo I drop to 1fps. I'm running a P4 3.2 and 1gb of ram. I swaped in my old TI3 200 and it outperforamce this card.
On landmark I get a rateing of 1700. Which is horrid. My Laptop with its Mobility7 is outperforming this card.
Also I notice water effects vs the ATI and the TI3 are completly different. On the other cards it looks like nice water on the FX5600 it looks like oil.
I play a lot of Dark age of Camelot. And it I enter any area that has a lot of trees the card virtualy locks up.
I used a driver cleaner then reinstalled with 53.03 drivers. But I can not get good performace. Also landmark shows the video core running at 55mhz??? The MSI tools show it running at 350. WHats going on? Is this card really that bad if so please send me back my TI4600.
Or is there something else I can try?I did call them today and they said that, the 5600 is the correct replacement and is superior to the 4600.
I did point out about the posts here, and that even tomshardware guide shows the fx5600 is a slower perfromer then the ti4600.
Spoke to there supervisor and he said I could RMA the card and they would look at it ....
On DAOC I run both SI and TOA. The video card has the updated bios I'm runing the 53.03 drivers, have the most uptodate MOBO drivers running the 1.9 bios.
Ran aguamark this morning and got a score of 1731, turned off all quality features on the card and over clocked it a bit and got it up to 2311. Which is still a far cry from what my ti4600 was getting.
My wife as I said had the TI3-200 and it got an aguamark of 3256. Blehhh
She swamped her card to the ATI8900xt last night and my jaw dropped at the performace she was getting in ToA. Was not only the performace, but she was seeing things that I was not seeing. Example when we went RvR'ing she would see people, on her screen before they showed up on mine. Sometimes I would have to spin a round a few times before they pop'd up on my screen.
For those that no treasure Island in ToA we went there huntig scrolls and she kept telling me I was missing chests to open. ANd sure enough if i would log out and login the chests would show up. Now this may me an issue with the way ToA handles Nvidia drivers not sure. But right now I'm sure not happy with the FX5600 and really wish I oculd have my TI4600 back. -

I'm new in this forum. I recently upgraded my Final Cut Studio to version 2, and have installed all the latest updates. When using DVD Studio Pro from Final Cut Studio Pro, everything worked out fine, but after upgrading to FCS 2, my DVD Studio Pro (4.2) is extremely slow, when I want to move to another point in the movie by clicking in the timeline. I have to wait 20-30 seconds every time I choose a new location.
My configuration:
G5 PowerMac with dual 2.0 GHz processors, 5.5 GB Ram, oceans of harddiskspace, ATI Radeon 9600 AGP graphics adapter and a 23" Apple Cinema screen.
Any suggestions?

Couple of things to try
1.) Repair permissions
2.) Delete Preferences
3.) Delete MPEG/PAR files
4.) Encode assets outside of DVD SP if you are bringing .mov into the project
If you are still getting delays one thing you may want to do is set up a clean partition (perhaps on the second hard drive in the G5) and just install FCP 2 Studio from scratch, it seems that a clean install as oppossed to overwriting on a prior install is the best approach and has been recommended to clear up glitches/gremlins and the proper way to do the install to the new Studio
Another thing to keep in mind is that if you have the system disk run only the system and have other elements on another drive it helps performance.
When you say you have oceans of hard drive space, how much is left? Usually when drives get to about 75%-80% full there can be perfromance slow downs. -
OS X Lion - will it slow down my Macbook Air?
Does anyone know if the new OS X Lion will slow down the perfromance of my Macbook Air which has the following specifications:

or is it better to stick with the OS X 10.6.8?
I read today that Lion is having an impact on machines which have processors less than 2GHZ and are only equipped with 2GB

LR 6/CC GPU accelaration makes healing brush slow?
Hi everyone,
I'm happy with my CC abo and LR6 so far. The GPU support improves the responsiveness and is awesome. But I also noticed that cloning/healing brushes are MUCH SLOWER with enabled GPU support. Especially then drawing a line or so it's super fast. Then I'm disabling the GPU it's noticeable faster.
My system configuration:
- Intel i5-2500 @3,3GHz
- AMD R9 270X with driver 14.12
- 16 GB RAM
- LR on SSD, catalog and RAW files on a separate SSD
I know that the CPU is not the freshest but the system is working fine and in Photoshop I have no performance problems, so updating the system is not on a high priority at the moment.
Can someone else confirm my observations? Suggestions are welcome and some Adobe statement (further GPU improvements in the next couple months as CC updates) too.

Ralfi noticed that even with my 980GTX the image preview needs a second for updating.
first i see a noisy image and then the preview is updated and the noise is gone.
with LR 5.7 i never noticed this.
the really annoying thing is.... it happens for images where the preview is already rendered.
i never had issues with the slider perfromance in past versions.
but the library modul was not the fastest (so to speak)... try photo mechanics and you will notice the difference.
overall... even with having a 980GTX i am not impressed by what is called "the major feature" of this release. -
Slow Connection Speed on one node in a 2 node RAC set up

Having a bit of trouble with one of the nodes in a 2 node RAC set up
We have traffic being sent directly to the node in question (using a serivce that only runs on Node 1)
Forced connection to this node (sqlplus) from a remote application server takes 3 times longer than it does if we force conneciton to the second RAC node.
If I try and connect locally - the conneciton speed is instant -
There are NO performance issues with the server
There are NO perfromance issues with the instance / database - this is only noticed when making the initial connection
I have been around the network for the node and can see nothing wrong - so was wondering if there was anything you guys might have experienced whereas conneciton time is slow for one node only (949 ms - compared to 247 ms on node 2)If anyone out there is interested or comes accross this issue
The problem turned out to be mount point options pm the Linux Volumes
I had them configured as part of best practice for RAC / NetApp / Direct NFS - hjowever I also had individual binaries for both nodes so as to have greater availability.
Thereffore I should have had the mount options for SINGLE NODE.
Change was to
- shutdown the instance
- unmoiunt the binaries
- change the following on fstab
<mount> <volume> nfs rw,bg,hard,nointr,rsize=32768,wsize=32768,tcp,vers=3,timeo=600,actimeo=0 0 0
to

DW FTP is slow and causes CPU Spike
Does anyone know why DW causes the CPU to jump up when it is
performing FTP operations? I'm new to DW and maybe this is normal,
but it shouldn't be. When I perfrom FTP activities, DW usually
takes up about 60-70% of the CPU???
Also, why is the FTP client so slow?
Dreamweaver takes so much longer than other FTP clients. I
compared it's usage to SmartFTP, FileZilla, and Windows built in
FTP, and Dreamweaver is so slow on a magnitude of 20x - 30x. For a
quick test I tried to pull down a directory using dreamweaver. I
have all the files local already, so I told DW not to overwrite the
files...so you would think it should speed through all the files
and realize that they are all dups and not download anything, for a
directory with 15 files in it, i would think this FTP operation
should take about 2 seconds. but it takes dreamweaver about 4
minutes to complete this, all my other FTP clients can figure this
out in under 5 seconds, and they don't need to spike the CPU to do
it.
A quick search on the web tells me that I am not the only
person with these problems.
I really hope Adobe plans on fixing the FTP problems.

Hello, recently sign up with bt broadband, I was hoping it may have improved since last time i tried it 5 years ago, but it hasnt.
Line speeds at best is half a meg, bt site shows .75 to 1m with my postcode.
My house/street was built in the mid/late 90's and i was told a while ago its to do with the cable layed, there is no fibre optic cable,it stops before our street, and our street has never been dug up.
Currently still run a 3 wireless dongle which perfroms well most of the time, around 1 to 2m , but at peak time it will suffer as i think most folk in our area have resorted to a wireless dongle.
BT ifinity sound just the ticket, bt states available from march 2012 for my street, it also states the same date for the whole of Derby, so im guessing thats when the project starts and will be some time before it reaches the edges of the city subberbs.
Can any one explain why its so slow and if smalley drive,oakwood,derby (and surrounding streets) will ever get a good bb speed,at this rate the new bt hub that came monday will be getting sent back quicker than i can open there home page.Right done a reset, got the password sorted,here is the adsl settings, dont think there much use as the b light is flashing orange again,and will not conect to broadband

you will see that only virgin has good speeds, ( not available in my street) sky seams to be a tad quicker, but im on the willowcroft exchange (EMWILLO) which has the lower speeds overall. -
Application running slow in ver 1.5, 1.6 but not in 1.4
We have a application that was running very slow when we used any version sun java instead of MS java in IE6 SP2.
I removed MS Java from IE and installed Sun java 1.4.2_16 and the applications starts in under 10sec's.
But we had to test the other version of java as well, i then installed the other versions from 1.5 update 14 to 1.6 update 4 and the application takes about 30 to 40 sec to load the web page.
I then looked at the development version of java 1.6 update 10 and version 7. In 1.6 update 10 the application would load but would not refresh the applets it would just hang. In version 7 the application would not start up at all.
In all the versions i increased the memory parmeters from 128 to 256 and in version 1.6 i changed it to -Xmx300m as well but still the application was slow loading. Removed all the versions and reinstalled 1.4.2_14 and the application works fine and loads up under 10 sec.
Does any one have any idea why this is happening.

As a first go around, you might try getting a stack trace during the startup process and look for locks (see jstack).
If your application is built on Swing, it's my understanding that the later versions of Java are more strict about use of the Event Dispatch Thread--pay particular attention to activity off the EDT locking the thread. -

Hey everyone. I am writing about my 13 inch Mid 2011 Macbook Air.
Recently it has been extremely slow and on occasion has not started up.
I have reset the PRAM and SMC already, yet it is still very slow. I have a couple theories about what might have caused it, are they plausible?
Theory 1: It’s a software problem. I tried to upgrade to 10.8.2 but halfway through the upgrade the computer restarted and somehow I was still on 10.8.1. For fear of a big issue happening I didn’t try to upgrade again. Perhaps it is a flaw in Apple’s software update?
The important thing to note about this update is that I tried to install 10.8.2 around a month or two weeks BEFORE I started having problems. So if these issues were due to 10.8.2’s failed update then it certainly was a delayed reaction.
I would of course like to update to 10.8.2 BUT as my computer is acting EXTREMELY slow and having trouble turning on occasionally I am worried the software update will completely brick the machine. Is that possible? Should I actually finish through with the software update?
Theory 2: It was an electricity problem.
The computer died when I was sitting at a café plugged into their wall sockets. A few days later when I came back to the same spot with my old macbook which is now being used in lieu of the Air it suddenly turned black for a little while. Sensing it might be an electricity surge or something with their system I unplugged the cable. I am not sure if that was paranoia though.
Can an electricity surge or a bad outlet fry a computer? Can it fry the ram so the computer is extremely slow? Does that theory hold any water?

Internet Connection Became Slow after Introduction of Cisco ASA 5505 to the Network
I configured a Cisco ASA 5505 (Version Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance Software Version 7.2(3)

in transparent firewall mode and inserted after Cisco 1700 router. However, the internet connection became very slow and users are compaining that they cannot load any pages.

New FiOS GigE Wireless 'N' Router has slowed our wireless speed to a crawl...need help!
This past Tuesday I installed the new N router. Also, we upgraded to FiOS Quantum 75/35 (previously 15/5). That was activated the following day. I can't complain about the internet speed to our pc since it's wired. Speed tests showed we were getting what was advertised. :-)
For the wifi, I can't figured out for the life of me what's causing our devices (e.g., our Nexus 7 tablets) to have a link speeds of 65Mbps one minute and then drop down to 5 or even 1. The same situation was happening with my HTC Incredible II phone, but I think that connection was tapping out at 54Mbps. The bottom would just drop out of the signal for some reason. Other times we couldn't even connect back in. The devices would say they're not in range even when they were in front of the router. Not sure if I fubarred the router install or what? I just swapped out the current Fios router for this new one. Pretty straightforward. At first, I logged into the router software with the defaults, but then I changed the the username, pswd, SSID, etc. to match what I used previously. I thought it was working fine the night of the install but not so much after Fios got bumped up in speed the following day. Maybe just a co-inky-dink?
I know you never get the same speeds compared to a wired pc but this seems worse (wifi-wise) than before the new router came along. I've read that the 'N' routers can be finicky to set-up to run properly. Maybe a setting or two is off?
I don't know if the fact that my son's netbook's wifi card is only b/g compatible would slow our network down? At this point I'm grasping at straws! I talked with tech support last night for 40 mins to no avail. I got the usual story about wireless devices running slower than wired ones, that these smaller devices aren't capable to maintaining higher speeds (which I'm not sure I agree with 100%), the more active devices you have slows down your network, etc, etc. I get all that. But something is going on or actually, it's not. LOL!
Why I don't agree with the above statement I mentioned is because I have my tablet at work now and the wifi speed is 54Mbps and it's constant. So it seems to have no problems with this speed, unlike what I was told over the phone.
Let me know if I can provide any further technical details that'll make it easier to help diagnose our wifi issues.

Here's an update since I got home:
Nexus7 (N7) took a min or so to connect to wifi when I got home. When it did, speed said 65Mbps. So I ran speedtest.net and got 27/20. Shortly after that I tried again but it was hesitating. I checked the speed and it was down to 5Mbps. Brought it upstairs to router and pc, and eventually it was back to 65. Ran speed test a few more times with similar results. I did notice that the connection would intermittently come and go. Not sure why. Looking at the wifi section on my N7, it says our network is out of range and the N7 is 2' from the router. Every now and then my network will go to the top of the list and it'll say it's obtaining ip address, then secured with wpa/wpa2 psk and it's locked in. So I hit the connect button and it's out of range again. Of course, while I was typing it decided to connect after 10-15 mins of trying/nothing. Says, signal strength excellent, 52 Mbps. Spoke too soon. It's off again. Crap! Back on again but speed was 19, now 5.
I did check router settings and this is what I have:
