Slow Playback Fixed

I scoured the web and forums for a solutions and found nada.
Came across "radman" in one forum who said the problem lies in the
'Audio Hardware' section under Preferences. I remembered I had installed
a 3rd party Audio plugin for the OS called 'DPS' - which is great by the way.
I changed the output from Built-In to DPS and now it's perfect, including the video playback which
was also slow. Try changing your output and see if it works.

I had the same problem, but never knew it was because of the pedometer. It would start skipping and slowing the beat after a few minutes of running. I tried all different kinds of arm bands or putting it in my pocket, because I thought it was because of the movement. I saw this comment, though, and just ran without the pedometer, and it works like a charm. I'm not sure the fix for this, but it sure defeats the purpose of a pedometer. good luck.

Playback quality/responsiveness is a function of network speed. If you have slow playback you need to checkout your network (ISP) and the characteristics and configuration of your networking equipment (WiFi router, etc.)

My 5th Gen iPod Nano has slow playback when I use the pedometer. Has there been any solution provided by Apple for this issue? I know I'm not the only one experiencing this problem.
The reason I bought the 5th Gen Nano was because of the pedometer feature so if it doesn't work properly, it's kind of a waste of my money.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • PE1 Exported MPEG (DVD) - Slow Playback

It has been a while since I've used PE and I just did a clean install of my OS (XP Pro) and all software.
I'm not sure if this is a problem with playback or encoding, but when I play exported clips that used the DVD Compatible setting, the playback is slow in any application (WMP, PE, etc.)
However, exported videos that I made about a year ago with the same setting seem to play fine.
I then used MyDVD to burn the suspect video clips to DVD and they play just fine in a set-top DVD player.
I'm also almost sure that these suspect video clips played just fine right after I created them (in WMP).
I tried "repairing" PE, updating WMP to version 11, and istalled all other updates that I could find.
Other MPEG formats seem to work fine.

Time has stood still for me...I'm still using version 1 as it has worked for me quite well up until now.
I usually import MPEG or AVI files into PE, depending on which camera I use or if I used my TV card to capture/record from it's tuner or my 8mm camcorder.
I render the workspace and the video plays great in PE, transitions and all.
I use the Export button (or File > Export) to export to an MPEG file on my hard drive, where I select the DVD Compatible preset.
Then I play the video in WMP. Ironically, the videos I made from before I formatted and re-imaged my system play just fine, and they were made with the DVD Compatible preset the same way as today, but the ones I made post re-imaging my machine play slow. Even more ironic is that I'm sure that they played just fine right after I made them (I'm sure the first thing I did after exporting the MPEG file was to watch it full screen in WMP. The problem came on suddenly with all videos that I recently made).
    An update!
I installed the K-Lite mega codec pack and it detected a couple "damaged" codecs, which I let it remove. They were an mp3 encoder/decoder, apparently from my SBLive audio card.
This seemed to fix the files with slow playback, but now I am unable to import the files that I exported from PE (the DVD Compatible files) as PE complains that the file is damaged or unsupported. They play fine, however. I will check a short clip to make sure this is still not a problem.
It may be that PE cannot import the files because the "damaged" codecs were removed by K-Lite, and are indeed not supported, or that the files were encoded badly. I'm not sure why they play OK now.
(I'm really only interested in a set of TV programs that I recorded and used PE to trim the clips, then exported to MPEG. I want to bring them back into PE to make a DVD. I can get 7 shows on 1 DVD this way, if I use MyDVD, it does not compress them any further and will only fit 3 shows per DVD. I deleted the source MPEG files, so I'm stuck!)
Another odd thing is that I got a Media Off-Line for an MPEG file that has not changed in any way for over a year. I can re-import the file just fine, but the original is still unavailable in the media list.
And now I'm not sure I like K-Lite as it pops up a tray icon everytime I access any sort of media device. I have so many codecs now it'm going to have to learn to manage them.
I guess at this point I don't really have a question, other than what to do with the K-Lite pack. I figure I'm stuck with the suspicious MPEG files that I want to compress further and burn to DVD. Wish I know what the problem was though. I guess in the future I should just make a custom MPEG preset with a lower bit rate. That looks like what PE does anyway when I select to "fit to media" when making a DVD preview (to a folder). Then I might be able to us MyDVD to make the DVD directly. I just think it won't take any MPEG file (must be DVD compliant MPEG2).
Thanks for bearing through this long winded reply.

  • Has anyone resolved the slow playback issue?

I've run across a few older posts related to slow playback of Captivate output, but it doesn't look like the issue has been resolved. I'm experiencing the same problem on a random basis.
At first I thought it was just in the preview mode, so every time I made a change, I published the project to test it. Then the published files started playing back extremely slowly, but not all the time. For example:
    1. I published the project as a swf file, and it played back fine.
    2. I added one slide with a Fade transition and published again. The playback was absurdly slow this time, and I hadn't changed any settings.
    3. Without changing anything, I published again, but I selected the Windows Executable output option. The playback was fine.
    4. I published again, but I switched back to the swf output - it was fine this time.
    5. Tried the Preview feature again. The mouse movement was extremely slow, but the slide transitions weren't as bad - just choppy.
I'm using Captivate 5.5 on Windows XP. Any thoughts?

Does the swf play that way on other computers besides your own?

  • Posting lots of slides with video slow playback to a halt

In our slide of about 50 slides, when we have one video slide, it plays ok, but each slide we add after, makes the captivate play slower and slower. In this case, we have about a dozen slides with video, and with all video slides in, the playback is not useable. Video is set to progressive video download and are only a few meg in size
How can we handles several slides with video?
    Thanks

This sounds like a bandwidth issue.
Do you encounter the same slow playback issue if you publish the course to your local PC and play the course from your hard drive?  If not, the issue isn't likely CPU-related.
If local playback is also slow, your CPU/RAM resources might be unable to keep up with decoding your video at it's current compression or size.  You might need to use smaller, lighter video.
If you want to see whether or not your issue is related to bandwidth limitations, download the Charles web debugging proxy software (http://www.charlesproxy.com/download/) and use this to watch the actual downloads in progress for the videos in your course.  If you see that Captivate is downloading more than one video at a time, this might explain why things start to bog down.  You might need to restructure your course so that each video is downloaded separately as the user comes to it.  At worst, tThis could require breaking your course into more modules.

  • Can I slow playback of music?

I know you can slow the playback of audiobooks but can I slow the playback of a music file. I am trying to learn a song and slower playback would make that a lot easier.
    Dell   Windows XP

If you just change things in Win Explorer, itunes will lose the paths to the music files.
Your ratings & other metadata are stored in a file named iTunesLibrary.itl. That database also stores the exact paths to all the music.
If your exHD2 has the same folder structure/paths as the exHD1 that died, you might be able to assign it the drive letter that exHD1 was using, and it will all work.
Here is a good background article to read before doing anything.
    http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/articles/comments/moving-your-itunes-library-to -a-new-hard-drive/
Especially the section, *iTunes: The Database versus the Content*.
My advice is to make a backup of your ITL file now before doing anything, and put it in a safe place so you can get to it if you need to try a few things.
I assume you are like most folks and still have the iTL file in the default place on the C: drive.
Make a copy and put it on exHD2 or in another folder on C:.

  • Why does Adobe Premiere CS6 slow playback after importing some audio?

    Adobe Premiere CS6.0 v6.0.2
    Mac Pro:
    1, 4 core - 3.2ghz CPU
    16gb ram (4 sticks of 4gb @ 1066 MHz)
1 Tb dive with OS/Apps on
    2Tb 7200 RPM media drive
    ATI Radeon HD 5770
    Sequence:
    30Fps
    1920x1080
    Media:
mostly .MFX files from a Canon XF100 however these clips commonly play nice with Premiere.
    Issue:
After importing some audio clips (.wav/.mp3, possibly other extensions) to the timeline on occasion the video playback will become choppy and the audio will slow down 3% creating any voices in the video to become deeper and slows down.  Choppy video playback as well.  The problem is very annoying but  it can be temporarily fixed with a computer restart but it will come back.
    Things to note:
Creating a rendered ID (Exporting the movie out to a .mov) the slowed choppy video does not appear in the final movie.
    Temp. Solution:
The only way I can fix this problem is by restarting the computer.  Simply restarting Adobe Premiere and closing any non-essential applications does not fix the problem.
Any ideas on how to fix this are much apperciated.

Try converting your MP3 to AIFF ,QT or something else Macs like. See if that helps.

  • Slow playback on Roku2 of MOV file after Adobe Premier Element Export

I have video files from a flash camcorder that encodes as MOV files.  This plays back fine on Roku2 using Roksbox and also on Real Player.
When I export a video file from Adobe Premiere Elements 4 the playback through Roksbox to Roku2 is horribly slow, with no audio.  The exported file from Adobe Premiere Elements plays fine on Real Player.
I have tried a host of different setting in Adobe (H264 and MPEG4 encoders, frame size, max bit rate) all to no avail.  Perhaps I am missing a critical setting.  I think the problem is somewhere in Adobe Premiere because I have been successful in using Full Video Converter Free 9 program to produce MPG4 files and they have played back fine through Roksbox and Roku2.
    Any suggestions very appreciated.

  • BT Infinity 20Mbps slower after fixing BT Vision

    Hello
I had BT infinity & BT Vision installed about 3 weeks ago.
Speed estimate said 48Mbps. After install i got a solid 52Mbps which i was very happy with Also had BT vision installed at the same time which i didnt actually use until about 1 week ago.
When i tried using the BT vision the multicast channels - BBC 1 HD etc wouldn't work, it would take 30 - 60 seconds to get a picture. Obviously something was wrong.
I rang BT to after some tests escalated to level 2 support. An engineer turned up a few days later although when he went to test it everything worked perfectly. He said BT probably adjusted settings on their end which fixed it.
I tried a speed test straight away and my speed had dropped from 50 to 30 Mbps. Its been the same since and speaking to BT they don't really care as its within limits.
Would anyone be able to explain the drop in speed?
btw - I'm not talking about while i am watching TV on the vision box then its even slower...
Same with a wired or wireless connection.
Also my stats below seem to be different from others i've seen with the difference between max connection and actual download. Any comments appreciated

I've just noticed the same thing with me.
I have a Draytek router, and its data flow monitor is showing a constant downloading at around 20mbps, whether I'm watching any IP channels on Vision or not. Broadband speed does not go higher than 20Mbps or so.
What is this and why is it happening?

  • Slow Playback Adobe Audition CS5.5 - not sample rate setting error!

I'm currently using Windows 7 and Adobe Audition CS5.5 build 1815. Soundcard is RME Digi96 Pad. Ok its an old card and the drivers date from 2005. In Adobe 3.1 and CS5.5  I get slow, around half speed, playback at 44k and 96k sample rates. YES the project sample rates and sound card sample rates are set correctly, clock is set to master on the soundcard.
However, in using Cockos Reaper 3 or 4 on exactly the same computer, same soundcard, same OS, I can play 44k and 96k wav files perfectly.
This suggests to me there is an error in the way Adobe Audition 3 / CS5.5 is handling the ASIO drivers in Windows 7 with some soundcards.
If it was a driver problem, or indeed a soundcard hardware issue, then Reaper would not perform properly.
So what's going on with the ASIO drivers in Adobe Audition with Windows 7?

I have two XLR wireless mics, which are great for my video work, but I need to do audio recordings for podcasts and wanted a mic that would be able to do just audio podcasts, as well as video podcasts, live via my laptop. So while I do agree that the audio recording from my XLR mics is great, I am not happy with the audio quality of standard computer mics I've tried and the only way I can get my XLR mics into the computer directly is through a USB connector (which I also have, I'm getting the Yeti set-up for my business partner to use).
Maybe Audition just isn't the best software option for this, but since we have CS6 Premium I had hoped I could utilize software I already had. (And for the live video casts I'm looking at starting out with Google hangouts...)
With that being said, I appreciate your reply and thought I had already set-up the hardware correctly in Windows & Audition. Here is a screenshot that shows the settings I have - my question at this point is whether the master clock needs to be changed (the audio channel mapping tab shows the left and right speaker of the default Realtek speaker):
I just double checked the properties of both the speakers and mic and they are both set to 48,000/16/stereo, as is the audio file in Audition.
I'm a journalist, not an audio pro, and I fully accept that the sound device must not be properly connected. The problem is that I cannot figure out why that is the case.
Since I need to use the USB mic and I want to be able to use the power of Audition to put together podcasts, using other software for the livecasts, I would really like to sort through this. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

  • Lion is slow, unresponsive - fixes?

    Hello all,
I've gone through several topics simialar to this one, but cannot seem to see an answer.
    System:
MacBook Pro, 2.66 GHz Intel Core i7  with 8GB of 1067 MHz DDR3 RAM
500GB HD, partitioned with 400GB to OSX and 100GB to BootCamp for Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate
    Challenges:
The system has a pretty slow start-up to get "warm", or ready to run applications.  As I attempt to access menus and such, the lag time between click and action is beyond anything I have ever seen.  Sometimes even several seconds.
I need to use virtualization to work in Windows and OSX at the same time.  My VM was Fusion 4, and I am now trying Parellels 7.  The VM is built to use just under 4GB of RAM - making a 4/4 split for each OS.
    History:
This system was an upgrade installation from a previous OSX 10.6 install, whcih was in turn an upgrade from 10.5
    Attempted Fixes:
    1) reset SMC
    2) verified permissions and disk health both inside and outside the OS (via the Utility/Revovery partition)
    3) used CleanMyMac to remove several older Applications that I no longer use and/or that were Universal Apps
What I am trying to avoid:
I don't want to scrub the system and re-install everything.  Mostly, becuase I have serveral dozen Apps and re-installing them would be time-consuming to say the least.  I'm also not sure what would happen to my Boot Camp partition and I want to keep it.
So.... I am wondering if there is a way to re-install LION without removing my BootCamp parition, documents, and Applications.
I do have a Time Machine back-up of the system and will resort to a full re-build if it comes down to it, but that is one of the reasons I moved from Windows - I don't want to have to do complete re-installs of the OS every 6 months.
Thanks in advance for any ideas/suggestions that you can provide.  I'm also going to try to adjust my VM settings to a 3/5 split to give OSX a little more room.  However, even if the VM isn't running OSX can be slow.... so I'm not holding my breath on that fix.

If you restart in Safe Boot mode then continue to log into your User's account is safe boot, do you see a difference?
    *  shutdown
    *  start the Mac and *wait* for the startup chime to sound
    *  after the sound, press and hold down the shift key
    *  keep holding and *wait* until the grey  Apple logo appears
    *  now release the shift key and just wait (it could take a few minutes)
    *  eventually the login screen appears with the words SAFE BOOT
These are some of the items disabled on safe boot:
Disables all fonts other than those in /System/Library/Fonts
It moves to the Trash all font caches normally stored in /Library/Caches/com.apple.ATS/(uid)/
Disables all startup items and login items

  • Premiere CS6 Audio slow update Fixed

    I refer to this thread..
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4912885#4912885
After a recent meeting with filming collegues, I was asked if i knew a solution to this problem. Basically the user didnt have this problem in Premiere CS3 but does now have it in CS6 and coincidentally I have had this problem since installing CS6. I setup a plan for Adobe CC but as the problem was still prevalent in CS7 (CC) I cancelled my plan.
    Problem
Basically when you scale the timeline to zoom in and edit, it takes ages for the audio waveform to reappear/rebuild in the audio timeline window. I have to wait for sometime 10-15 secs every time i scale the timeline which is a preverbial pain in the A@@.
I read the forums and saw others having the same problem, adobe advice was get the latest drivers they didnt have the problem which was a bit dismisive. I got the latest video card drivers and no fix.
It dawned on me this evening that I have tailored by windows to suit my editing needs and my timeline window has an audio level window at the end of it. I decided to move the timeline to occupy the complete bottom of the screen, ergo no windows left and right and BINGO immediate (well nearly) audio waveform update quickly in the timeline window when I scale the timeline.
So it seems the problem lies with the coding of scaling windows NOT drivers hence a fix needed by adobe for CS6 and cs7/CC, but at least we have a workaround!.
    Hope this helps anyone 8)

  • Slow Playback and Scrubbing on Fast System in Premiere CS6

I own a Eurocom desktop replacement laptop.
2 Nvidia 580m running in SLI
    24 gigs of DDR3 ram
    4 internal SSD
    Intel I7 990x Extreme CPU (6 cores)
Last time I checked my video cards were not certified for the Mercury Playback Engine, but surely I should not see solid red in the sequence window. It's always red, in fact I've never even seen the color yellow while using Premiere.
I'm new to video, I'm a retoucher and this machine annhialates Photoshop. I wish I had gotten a Quattro level set of cards instead of the top GeFore model (at the time).
Scrubbing is sluggish. When I have tried using a single filter like a gaussian blur with some keyframes it became unbearably slow so I stopped trying. This is bumming me out because I really love the software.
Is there anything I could try to improve performance minus blowing a wad of cash?
    Thank you Friends.

As per your advice I've tried that. It seems I may be getting a slightly higher framecount - which is of course a good thing. I still see solid red, but maybe that is just how it is with my video cards. I tried "The Hack" and added my card to the list, but that did nothing. I still can't select Mercury.
Either way, thanks for the quick reply ExactImage.
    Cheers.

  • Slow Playback in Premiere Pro CS4 (how do you lower preview res?)

Hi everyone, I was just wondering how to lower the playback/preview resolution while3 editing in Premiere Pro CS4? I'm editing 720p video (.mov format, that's what my camera shoots in, so I don't think I can change that). All I can see when I right click the source monitor is "Quality > High, Draft, Automatic". Is there anything else I can select? (kind of like in after effects, where you can set it to 1/2, 1/4, etc.). I've been searching the internet for the better part of the day and all I've found is that 'quality' menu I mentioned earlier.
It's still painfully slow to watch on 'draft', and it doesn't look like it makes that much of a difference in quality. Now, my laptop isn't exactly the rendering beast I'd like it to be, but it can handle 720p [slowly] in after effects so I think it should work in premiere too.
    Thanks!
PS: Any of you experts think this would be a good computer for NLE / rendering effects?
    http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7192259&Sku=B69- 1277

    Thanks for clearing that up!
New desktop it is... I'll probably be swapping out the low power drive for a faster one, since Harm mentioned that in his 'building for NLE' thread.
Oh yeah, one more thing: How can I force it to render? For example, I put an HD clip into the timeline, it has a yellow bar along the top of the timeline in it's location, yet when I hit enter it just plays (with annoyingly low fps)?? Going to sequence > render effects in work area doesn't work either.
