Slow Preview?

Hello, i'm trying to edit a video that have separate frame sequences or .avi videos that are either 3K or 2K in a 2048x2048 composition, but i need to put them in order because i already got the audio, so i need to synchronize it, but i can't since while the audio can be hear on preview, the image freezes sometimes, and the preview is very, very slow, i got an Nvidia Quadro K5000, 32 GB Ram, and Intel Xeon. The computer is supposed to handle those archives without problem but mine i think is not optimized, is there any way i can fix it so i can see the previews in good timing so i can work? (even some videos freezes completely and appear in totally black)
thanks in advance ill be waiting for a response

  • Very slow preview speed

After building a page with panels inside accordian container I'm noticing very slow preview times. Is this likely to be the case after publishing the site? The panels hold 3 to 4 Youtube or Vimeo videos. So there could be up to 20 videos inserted into the accordian layout.

As long as the videos are not set to auto play you should be fine. When you preview are you previewing in Muse or in Browser? Generally in most cases viewing in browser will give you a better idea.

  • Very Slow preview rendering for lightroom 5 on import

I am seeing very very slow rendering of preview images only when using the import function in lightroom 5. By slow, I mean for a shoot of 60 shots in raw, it could take 30 minutes before I can preview them all in the pane to see which ones I want to actually import. This was not an issue with lightroom 4. It is not an issue when using lightroom. Previews are fast there, even for images I've never pulled up before.
My hardware is a PC, with an intell i7 chip, and 16 gig of memory. My nvidia graphics card has the latest drivers.
I've seen a few others reporting this issue, so I'm trying to log it as a bug. Even though the dial up support text on the adobe lightroom says available 24/7, it now plays a voice recording that says only available m-f.

I'm having the same problem using Windows 7 (64b). I just took a shoot over the weekend for a significant birthday event. Now I can't load the photos. The work-around doesn't work as the program freezes before I get the chance to select the camera under "files".
I recently upgraded from 3.6 to 5 as I was also noticing a slowdown in the import function. That turned out to be a bad move I think. I also deliberately cleaned up the CF card and removed all my video recordings, as this seems to be reported as part of the problem, but to no avail.
This seems to be a pretty major bug to have in a major release that's been around for a while now, that I'm expected to pay for, and no sign of a resolution to date!

  • Bridge CS6 - extremely slow preview updates and image deleting

    1. Updating previews (100%) is very slow.
Bridge CS6 has problems updating the previews of images that get edited.
While creating preview from scratch is rather swift, updating previews takes about six minutes on a MacBook Pro retina with 16Gb RAM.
After one minute the preview gets updated,  but then the busy signal in the low left corner just keeps turning and turning for five more minutes.
Why is this happening? Is Bridge still busy with those previews? Why? The preview has already been updated, why those extra five minutes of business?
    2. Image deleting is painfully slow.
You type Command + Delete, and nothing is happening for five, six seconds.
Only then the images get deleted.
Has anybody else noticed these two hold-ups?
    Edit:
I just went back after writing and editing this post, and Bridge is still busy with the preview update. This is now 15 minutes after the image had been edited. The busy signal in the lower left corner just never turns off again.
It feels like Bridge has also problems working in the background. As soon as you open e.g. a browser to bridge the waiting for bridge, Bridge seems to keep the busy signal rotating, but not actually doing anything until you close the browser again. Which is why I just had a 15 minute wait for an image preview to finally update. The time spent in the browser did not "count".

    Hi Noel,
Yes, I did the upgrade, and I did not experience any problems.
Only, the issues above were not fixed in the update.
Are you not experiencing the same issues? (I'm on a Mac).
    C. Pfaffenbichler, I was actually looking for a dedicated Bridge forum, but I couldn't see a Bridge icon.

  • Slow preview on second monitor

    Hello
I'm using two monitors with LR5, and the second monitor is the preview screen.
I find the preview on the second monitor to be painfully slow in both the Library and Develop modules:
    1) If I am the Develop module, and I move to the next photo, and zoom the preview to 100% (or if it is already at 100%), it take a minute, literally, for the preview to display correctly.
    2) In the Develop module, sometimes the display does not update correctly at all. If I adjust a slider on the Details tab, however slightly, the preview then updates almost immediately.
    3) In the Library module, if I switch the main window to single photo view, and view 100%, then, as I browse the photos, the main window updates very quickly, but the preview window lags behind.
I'm working with Fuji X-Trans RAF files, and this maybe this si the issue? JPGs update almost immediately in the preview window in both modules.
Does anyone have a similar experience?
    Mike

    Sounds like this problem:

  • Very Slow Previews

Adobe Bridge used to generate the thumbnail previews of my DV video clips as fast as Windows Explorer when in Thumbnails view. However, something happened that is causing Bridge to do this MUCH slower. It used to generate 2 or 3 thumbnails per second - bip...bip...bip - right down the line, very little processing power used. Now it generates one preview every 2 or 3 seconds and pegs my processor at 100%.
    Anyone have any ideas here?

My bridge was doing the slow thing too. Using some of the tips already posted here I made it better, but not great.
First off, my raw cache was still pointing to my default C drive location and set to 1 GB. I boosted the size up to 4GB and moved it to a physical drive that is neither the program drive nor the windows swap drive.
Then I adjusted my bridge cache to its max size and pointed it to the non program and non swap drive. Now it's on the same drive as my raw cache.
Instead of purging the caches I closed bridge and deleted the .dat files from my raw cache directory and I deleted the entire data directory used by bridge's cache.
I also set the thumbnails to high quality thumbnails instead of convert to high quality when previewed. I just don't want to use quick thumbnails, but it might be even faster.
If I thought clicking my heals together three times and chanting "I just want to go fast" would help, I would do that too!!
    Cheers

  • Slow preview of videos and rendering

i am trying to make a project and whenever I add a video file and try to preview it the video is slow. it runs only for a second then goes every 5 second one frame would pass. I finished the project and just thought if I encode it the video will turn out fine but it had the same problem.
    If anyone can help thanks.

    Jake,
Your camera likely uses MJPED compression. This is common for many Nikon sitll cameras.
There are three common MJPEG CODECs, Morgan, Lead and Main Concept. I think Morgan is freeware and the other two need to be purchased. Any one of these *should* go a long way to correcting your issues.
It would be a good move for Nikon to include a CODEC for whatever flavor of MJPEG they use. Seems that the new D-90 is using yet another flavor.
As Harm points out, the AV output from a still camera is really meant for viewing, and not for editing. This is *possibly* why Nikon has not taken the correct route - they assume that the footage will not be edited. The lack of current CODECs will likely plague users of newer still cameras, as the mfgr continues to improve on their end, but not share these improvements.
You might also pick up a bunch of tips and ideas from the Adobe Premiere Elements forums. Just search them for "MJPEG," and have a good read. More folk seem to be trying to use still camera AV footage in those programs, Elements.

  • Slow capture, slow preview

I have the following set up
Final cut pro 7 running on mac pro 12 cores 2,66 Mhz with 32 GBs Ram
    Decklink
Promise Vtrak RAID with fiber connection
When i capture on local disk, everything works fine which btw i use ProRes 422 HQ and local disk is a 7200 rpm SATA
When i switch to RAID which has 150 MBps read 330 MBps write capability according to Blackmagic disk speed test software, capturing, previewing and redrawing audio vawes are very slow and impossible to work with.
I happen to know its highly recommended to use external disk drives but in this situation which makes really no sense its impossible to use.
I know this is not a final cut problem, but im almost sure that this is not a decklink or RAID problem.
    Any thoughts ?

Have you checked to make sure you have the latest drivers for both the decklink and Raid?  I'd check with support at both companies.  You might want to try removing the decklink card and see if the raid is still having the same problem.

  • HP Photosmart Premium C309g-m slow previews

    Hello,
Yesterday I bought HP Photosmart Premium C309g-m printer and I really wonder on few things with it's speed. Whenever I try to use some advanced features when printing photos like: adding frames, cropping, rotate etc it is incredible slow! I firstly thought that it not works at all as when I used any of these functions then just a black space appeared there. But today I tried to wait about 2-3 minutes and then the image appeared, but it is still not usable.
Any ideas how to fix that? (maybe firmware update or so) The same applies when using the snapfish.com .
    Thank you so much!

I have the same problem when I want to crop a photo after it is scanned. I have to wait several seconds for the dotted lines to appear for cropping. And then when I grab them to move them, that takes up to 10 seconds also.  I agree, it is slower than I expected. I am working with a Macintosh G4 PowerPC , with Mac OS 10.5.8.

  • Slow preview playback in After Effects

    Hi Folks
I just recently set up CS6 on a new z820 workstation and for some reason my after effects timeline does not playback in realtime when previewing.  Everything is green on the timeline, yet when it plays it is about half speed.  I have no doubt my system has the specs to play rendered media in real time (2x8core, Quadro 4000, 64GB Ram, Sonnet hard drive array) so obviously I have something set up wrong.  I'm running a Kona 3 with the latest drivers and I suspect this is the culprit.  I've had other issues related to the Kona, such as losing display to my external monitors sporadically.  It will be fine for a while then suddenly the output signal turns either solid green or some form of garbled junk.  Very strange, although the Kona output seems perfectly fine when I'm in Premiere.
Anyhow, any help zeroing in on the problem would be greatly appreaciated.
    Best,
    EE

    Thanks Tom
However, I do think I have playback set to computer monitor (not in front of system right now).  Definitely seems like there's something AE doesn't like about my card (it is an older version of the Kona 3).  I have a support ticket in with AJA so hopefully that will turn up something.
As far as my Quadro 4000 goes, I was kind of forced into using it on account of other software on my system.  If it was up to me, I would have put in a GTX680 or 690.  I have a GTX680 at home and it is rock solid in AE and Premiere.  Timelines that are heavily dependant on GPU accelerated FX render about twice as fast on my 6-core/GTX680 vs my z820/Quadro 4000 work system.  I'm hoping to upgrade to the Quadro 5000K when it comes out, possibly with the Tesla sidekick.  In the meantime, I have to sort out this Kona thing

  • Macbook pro retina 15 inch running Yosemite extremely slow previews/rendering

    Hello,
So I got the newest version of Macbook pro retina 15 inch (mid-2014) basic model with 16GB of RAM, updated the OS to Yosemite, got Adobe CC on board, was happy for a second until I tried to edit stuff in After Effects. Preview plays at 13 fps at best when rendering something basic as a shape going from one point to the other. If you add footage it is 7fps or something. Already tried some options that were suggested on other threads like disabling App Nap but so far nothing helped. Please help me out, I'm really getting frustrated because of this.
Also, it takes ages to render final comp form Premiere Pro as well.

  • [Camera Raw] Very slow previews on SSDultaniously

I need to work on 36 files (about 20Mb each) simultaneously opened in Camera Raw. I'm using the adjustment brush, the problem is that each file take 4-5 second to load and show me the preview. This is taking a lot of time.
The fact is that i'm now working on a SSD Hard drive, but nothing changed.
Is there a change to cut out dead times?
    that's my current system:
MacPro 2 Quad Core 3Ghz Intel Xeon
    Samsung SSD 128GB
    Radeon X1900 512Mb Ram
    10GB of ram 667mhz
    Snow Leopard 10.6.2
    Adobe Photoshop CS4
    Adobe Bridge CS4
    Camera Raw 5.5.0.97
Is that a resolvable problem or there's nothing to do?
    Thanks
    Filippo

another problem, when I go back to an already processed file (without quitting camera raw), CR realoads again the file... It shouldn't work that way! I've tried lightroom and it keeps memory of files (a bit), but LR doesn't fit in my workflow... and there's still the problem of the first loading...

  • Very slow preview of AE (12.1) .FFX files in Bridge (6.0)

Hi there, I hope someone can help me with following:
In AE (12.1) clicking on Presets, all the options to choose from are there but it takes a unworkable lot of time to see them in the loop previewing.....
I have already cleaned up the personal preferences file and can see that over 400 plugins are installed (if that helps to sort out)
Only 2% of 8 Gb RAM is used.
Anyone any idea where to start to resolve this??
    Your input is highly appreciated!

Make Sure you have the latest updates. 12.1 is not the latest.
    6.0 isn't either:
If that does not fix the problem answer this. What OS are you running? What else is open? What are your memory allocations in AE (did you leave enough memory for other apps)? Does Bridge work fine when AE is not running? Did Bridge ever work well on your system? If it did, what changed on your system?

  • Slow preview of HD-fotoage

    Hi!
I would be very happy for any help with this: I want to edit footage from a Sony HD camera I premiere and after effects. Since the footage from the camera is AVCHD and that is not accepted by Premiere or AE I first have to capture via another program (Studio) and export it to a file and then edit in premiere and AE. First of all am I right to make a Windows Media file for HD to import to Premeiere or AE? Mpeg4 doesn't seem to work with Premiere and Mpeg2 is very heavy and not as good quality as Windows media.
So I use Windows media so far. But when I want to watch the footage in Premiere in order to edit it, it runs so slow, like a series of stills. I know that I can decrease the quality to draft or automatic, but can I not make it less? The computer I'm using is by every expert I've talked to good enough to work with HD (1440x1080i). I can't edit if I can't see the footage moving! Anyone knows what to do?

Your computer specs seem to be sufficient for this task.
It's entirely possible that Windows Media is more difficult to decode than MPEG2, and that's why you're seeing the slow performance. MPEG2 is likely the better choice here, as long as your conversion settings are appropriate.
Further, file sizes shouldn't matter to you or any editor anymore. Hard drive space is so cheap that you should have at least a terabyte of storage available to you.
The NewBlueFX web site indicates that AVCHD Upshift requires "Windows XP or higher". It should work on Vista 32.
Make sure to defragment your hard drive.
Try silencing the audio to see if video performance improves.
If the audio is enabled, wait until any conforming or generation of peak files is finished before you try to edit the video.

  • Slow Preview RAW file support in Mavericks

Since upgrading to Mavericks, the RAW file Preview speed is apauling and basically unusable. It takes a painfully long time to browse and quickview CR2 RAW files.
    Has anyone else encountered this?
It's that bad that I'm forced to use my old Mountain Lion installation to sort my image files. Is there an update in the pipline to solve this? If it persists, I'll be forced to move away from OSX to edit and manage photos.
NOTE: I have a Canon 600D that generates CR2 files. These are 'apparently' supported by Mavericks.
    Thanks,
    Darren

Apple support has gone silent on this issue, still no resolution for the issue. I tried turning off the file indexing without any luck. When looking at the activity monitor, did notice the kernel_task % CPU jumps up and the fan kicks in at high spin rate. It takes anywhere from 2-5 seconds opening a raw files (Canon's CR2).  Considering one of Apple strong point against PC is video-image editing, this has really puts a kabash in user editing segment.
