Slow print from Acrobat X Professional to RICOH Aficio 2018D RPCS printer
Hello.
Thank you very much for your attention.
Our network printer, RICOH Aficio 2018D RPCS, takes 20 seconds to print each sheet from a PDF document generated by Acrobat X.
It seems the printer considers each sheet as a new document so starts the whole process of warming and so on.
These PDF documents were previously created by Adobe Acrobat X Professional (version 10.0.1), from scanned documents by BROTHER MFC-9840CDW Printer (also network printer), with a laptop running under Windows XP Professional, Version 2002, Service Pack 3.
(All legal software, licensed.)
The PDF documents have about 4MB & 140 pages each one.
We tried to fix the problem by changing all these parameters:
- saving file as "Reduced Size PDF",
- saving file as "Optimized PDF",
- saving file as "PDF/A",
- saving file as "PostScript",
- printing as image,
- printing in low quality,
- opening and printing the document from Adobe Reader X (version 10.0.1),
but nothing works.
(Adobe Reader was not installed when troubles started. It's uninstalled now and troubles keep going on.)
The RICOH Technician also tried some updates, but troubles are still there.
He printed a PDF downloaded from Internet (similar size as ours) and the printer worked at normal speed!
We also can print the documents at normal speed in the BROTHER MFC-9840CDW Printer.
I really appreciate any suggestion
(Message in progress. Adobe Reader it's not the problem either.)
Thank you so much, GilliganBT
... but... I can´t find that option ("Render print jobs on client computers") in my Sharing tabs.
I just have "Do not share this printer" or "Share this printer".
Anyway, I´ll tell that to the printer repairman and I´ll let you know

Can't print from mac book pro to Ricoh Aficio MP C4500
Hello, today i started working in a new office, that uses a Ricoh Aficio MP C4500 printer and everyone in the office uses windows computers. I have a Mac Book Pro 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, on it, I am running Mac OSX 10.6.6.
When I have tried to print several different file types such as .pdf, .doc, .txt, etc. the printer prints out usually 20 pages that are all coded or blank and nothing similar to what i printed out. I'm guessing this is due to the printer not understanding the language of the data i send to it.I know that i am successfully connecting to the right printer.
I've visited several webpages that discuss how to fix the issue but none of them have worked.
I have tried downloading the mac osx 10.5 drivers from the Ricoh website(they didnt have 10.6) that didn't work and when i printed i still got all blank/coded pages.
Next I went I tried typing the the printer IP address to my browser url... that didn't help.
Next I went to the apple website and downloaded all of their mac osx 10.6 ricoh aficio drivers and when i printed i got all blank/coded pages again.
next i went and downloaded the "ghost script" "footmatic" and "pxlmono" and when i printed i got all blank/coded pages again.
all of the other webpages gave no other advice. Also, when printing each time i tried all of the different protocols, that didnt make a difference.
if you can advise, it would be much appreciated! Thanks!

It sounds like the printer does not have the optional PostScript module installed.
Next I went to the apple website and downloaded all of their mac osx 10.6 ricoh aficio drivers and when i printed i got all blank/coded pages again.
The drivers that are available from the Ricoh web site or are available from Apple only work when the PostScript module is installed.
next i went and downloaded the "ghost script" "footmatic" and "pxlmono" and when i printed i got all blank/coded pages again.
After you downloaded and installed the Ghostscript, Foomatic-RIP, and pxlmono drivers, did you delete your existing Ricoh print queues and create new print queues? Did you choose the driver that had pxlcolor in the title?
If the pxlmono/pxlcolor drivers do not work properly for you, you will need to have the IT person tell you what printer languages the printer can use. Alternatively, you can print a configuration page from the printer keypad that will print a sheet telling you what languages it can use. -
Can't Print from Acrobat 9 Pro on windows 7 64bit....
I have a windows 7 64-bit computer that can't print to any printer from Acrobat 9 Pro. When you try to print I get the following error:
"print driver host for 32 bit application has stopped working"
Any thoughts, it's driving me crazy....I'm having the identical problem and the only way I can get it to work is by not trying to change the title suggested by Acrobat for the PDF.
If I try printing from Firefox and pasting in a new PDF title, it crashes Firefox. -
Solution to the problem printing from Acrobat 9.4.2
Since there are nearly 200 posts in the original thread, It might be best (for those looking for a quick solution) to do this in a new thread.
The problem is that you cannot print to a network printer from Acrobat (pro) 9.4.2. Printing to a local (USB) printer seems okay.
The solution (for us) was found at http://www.hypersensory.com/content/fix-printing-after-installing-adobe-acrobat-942-update
The approach I tested was:
[T]he fast and easy way:
1.) go to the installation directory of Acrobat (C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\Acrobat)
2.) Look for the file "Adobe.Acrobat.Dependencies.manifest"
3.) Open it and delete the line <file name="atl.dll" />
4.) Reboot your machine after saving that file
This should fix the issue of being unable to print PDF file after installing 9.4.2 update for Adobe Acrobat.
With thanks to the folks at HyperSensory.com! It works!Could someone from Adobe respond to this specific issue so that we know we are being heard? Will the fix for the print issue also resolve the 'attach to email' problem? Is there any work around other than telling users to attach directly from their email programs?
Thanks in advance for your response to our concerns.

Faded colors when printing from Acrobat - different than previous
Hi
I have read some threads about color fading when printing a PDF created in ID and printed from Acrobat. My problem is the same and I am also having the same problem with PDF's exported from Keynote (client created posters). It sounds like I should work with the PDF optimizer for the solution. Has anyone experienced the fading colors from anything other than ID or Quark made PDF's? Did the optimizer fix the problem? I find it frustrating that I can print directly from ID and not have a problem - why can't they all get along! ;0)
Using Acrobat 9, Keynote 09 and an Epson 9880 printer.
ThanksRE: "You don't indicate what Xerox printers you have"
In my first post I named it, is that the information you need?
Docucolor 3535 using Splash 3535
That's interesting, so I have to find a way to turn off the printer's Color Management function? I mailed them, hope they can tell me how to do it easily. They usually just tell me to not use any profiles and so on, but that's the general rule in this area, I'm really tired of hearing it. Everybody seems to think profiles and LAB mode are nuclear science and I should stay away from it.
Anyway, the test image I'm using is a simple photograph (size A3, 300dpi), so no transparencies at all. I'm placing this image into an equally large ID file and print it from ID, then export it to PDF-X/3 and print it from Acrobat. Hope that helps. -
Same as Source Printing from Acrobat 9
Hello Everyone,
I'm in the process of testing CS4 for deployment to a large print production environment and I'm seeing some interesting behavior in so far as it's handling of color management is concerned, specifically with Same as Source printing from Acrobat.
I currently have CS2 deployed, and we're using InDesign for page composition. We primarily accept Adobe RGB (1998) and US Web Coated (SWOP) artwork. PDFs are created from InDesign via File > Export, and we have it configured for "No Color Conversion" and "Include all Profiles." As such, our PDFs contain both RGB and CMYK artwork, all of which is tagged with an ICC profile.
In Acrobat 7, we submit these files "Same as Source" to our RIPs (Fiery and Wasatch) in order to preserve the embedded profiles. All of our color management is handled at the RIP. This works quite nicely. We have tested the submissions and the RGB and CMYK builds (color numbers) come through dead on.
With Acrobat 9 Same as Source submissions, we are seeing that the builds are changing, and that we are getting a conversion to CMYK.
-Original PDF file
Raster RGB - 191,45,47
Here are the numbers that are submitted by Acrobat, captured by our RIP:
-Acrobat 7 Same As Source
Raster RGB - 191,45,47
-Acrobat 7 Printer/Postscript Color Management
Raster CMYK- 0,244,245,0
-Acrobat 9 Same As Source
Raster CMYK - 0,242,251,0
-Acrobat 9 Printer/Postscript Color Management
Raster CMYK - 0,242,251,0
-Acrobat 9 Acrobat Color Management
Raster CMYK - 17,248,245,1
So the question is: What changes have been made in Acrobat 9 to cause for it to handle Same as Source print submissions differently? Why is it that our builds are changing when Same as Source has always been how we get "pass through" color from Acrobat?
Has anyone else run into this? From the perspective of a RIP-driven, color managed workflow, this is a serious issue, no?
(This is also posted to the Color Management forum, as it is both a color management concern generally, and an issue specificly related to Acrobat.)
MattWe’ve done some further investigations into the differences in Same as Source printing from Acrobat 7 and Acrobat 9. For our tests we created a simple InDesign file with two red vector rectangles, one defined as Adobe RGB (1998) and one as U.S. Web Coated (SWOP). This file was then exported to PDF with “No Color Conversion” and “Include All Profiles.” The resulting PDF contained both rectangles tagged as specified, as verified with PitStop.
We then opened this PDF in both Acrobat 7 and 9 and printed to PS files (at the time, the queue for our HP5500PS was selected). Our cursory findings are:
1. The file sizes differs, which suggests that there is a difference right off the bat.
2. The printed artwork differs visually, which is troublesome.
3. In both instances, when opened in Notepad2, the page objects appear to be tagged properly with Adobe RGB and SWOP specified as the objects color space. This, on the other hand, is good.
a. Acrobat 7
i. RGB – Line 3342
ii. CMYK – Line 3400
b. Acrobat 9
i. RGB – Line 8406
ii. CMYK – Line 8468
4. And here's the biggie: When the PS file created from Acrobat 9 is opened in Illustrator, it says "The document does not have an embedded RGB profile" and it allows for the specification of an RGB profile ONLY. When the PS file created from Acrobat 7 is opened in Illustrator, it says "This document contains objects using both CMYK and RGB color modes. Illustrator allows only one color mode per document. Which color mode would you like to use?" Of course, this PS file SHOULD contain mixed color modes (because it came from a mixed color mode PDF), but only the PS files from Acrobat 7 do. The PS files from Acrobat 9 do NOT. This suggests to us that the PS files (and therefor print data submitted to PS queues as Same As Source) created by Acrobat 9 are not honoring the embedded ICC profiles of tagged artwork.
Does anyone out there have any thoughts or experience? If what we are finding is true, this is a major problem for Adobe's Acrobat 9 print engine.

Can't Duplex print from Acrobat Pro 9.3.2 to Epson Artisan 800
I can not duplex Print from Acrobat Pro 9.3.2 to an Epson Artisan 800.
I an running it from a MacBook Pro with OSX 10.6.3
I called Epson support and they could not help me.
However they suggested that I try using Adobe Reader.
Well that works OK if I choose to print the document as an image, but I would prefer to just be able to work within Acrobat Pro.
Does anyone outthere have any settings within Acrobat Pro that would enable duplex printing?
Thanks

Hello, my problem is that I can't print documents from Adobe Acrobat prof.
Every time the error "a required resource cannot be loaded".
I tried to use another printer, another pc. No matter which printer it is every time the same error. On another pc (terminal server) there is no error.
I have installed the printers again, same error. I have installed adobe cs2 again. same error.
I tried to print from other cs2 application but there is the same error.
Anybody who can help ?
thanks a lotI am a bit confused by some of the implications in your topic. You talk about printing from Acrobat, but then it seems like you are talking about creating PDFs (ok, that is reading between the lines). I am not really sure what you are doing. Might it also be an issue of a network printer? What OS; what Acrobat; and what steps are you actually taking?

PDF prints from Acrobat 8 Pro, but not from Acrobat 9 Pro
I have a PDF that prints fine when I print from Acrobat 8 Pro, but when I open the same PDF in Acrobat 9 Pro, only portions of each page actually print out.
All systems running Windows XP Pro, SP3
A8P 8.1.2
A9P 9.1.1
Any ideas?Well, for those following this thread or needing a solution, I found a work-around though I'm still not sure why the initial problem exists.
In Acrobat 9 Pro, once you have the main print dialogue box open, follow the steps below:
1) Click ADVANCED
2) Select PRINT AS IMAGE
3) Set DPI to 300
4) Click OK
5) Make any other typical print setup adjustments as you normally would and finish printing as usual -
How to get paper color profiles when printing from Acrobat
Hello,
I've been in trouble trying to print with specific paper profiles from Acrobat.
I'm running on mac os 10.8.5, and the latest version of the suite (Acrobat XI).
My printer is an Epson 3880.
I can print ok using my paper profiles when I'm printing from Photoshop; the paper profils show up in the printer box,
and I can choose from my different paper profiles, some of which I've installed recently, non-Epson papers.
But those paper profiles don't show up in the menu when I print from Acrobat…
Any hints why I can't reach those?
Thanks in advance for any help,
Keth. Are you talking about the color profiles? If so then:
1. Go to File>Print
2. Click the Advanced button
3. Select Color Management from the window pane
4. Select the Color Profile from the Color Profile pop-up menu -
Printing from Acrobat Reader 9.1
I can not print from Acrobat Reader 9.1 to my HP printer connected wirelessly to my Mac. I can print fine from any other software on my Mac. Tips and suggestions are welcome!
I'm having the same issue. It all started after upgrading to 10.5.7 and Adobe Acrobat to 8.1.5.
I have an HP Photosmart C7280 and I am able to print via WiFi from all applications except Acrobat (version 8). However, Acrobat will print 1 page documents, but nothing longer.
At first I thought it was the 10.5.7 update. I saw in some other places that downloading and installing the combo update worked better for some folks. I did that, but still no joy.
I did the "Reset Printing System..." thing in system preferences and added the HP back. Still no joy.
I uninstalled and re-installed the HP software (drivers and all). Still no joy.
I uninstalled Acrobat and re-installed from CD so I was back to version 8.0. Still no joy.
I have not re-upgraded Acrobat to 8.1.5, but I don't have high hopes.
I wondering where the fix will come from. Hard to say that the problem is exclusively Adobe... made two changes to my system (OS upgrade and Acrobat upgrade). I have seen folks that dropped back to 10.5.6 and the problem persisted for them. I don't want to go back to 10.5.6 as I don't have that kind of time.
Printing from Preview for now. -
Sometimes I have to color match at work, or just adjust images in Photoshop CS4. I save as a Adobe PDF, and load it into Acrobat Pro.
I do not flatten or convert to PDF 1a, just print from Acrobat. When I print, my blacks in the print are green. WHY??Thanks Sig. The information is here: Anything useful stand out?

PDFs not printing from Acrobat Reader 7.0.8
PDF don't print from Acrobat Reader 7.0.8. The same PDFs print from Preview. I've tried many PDF from various sources (over a dozen including those created on my Mac) in every case they print fro Preview and not from Reader.
I'm currently on OS 10.4.7 but This has been an issue for some time and I believe was the case with Reader 7.0.7.FIXED!
Priner Setup Utility/Reset Printing System
Then added priner again.
Interesting that the only issue was printing from Acrobat Reader and that this fixed it. Probably deleted and "rewrote" whatever file was at issue.
