Slow Printing with HP 940 C

I haven't posted here for quite a while but was wondering if anyone has ever found a way to speed up the printing. When I was using OS 9 and I hit "print", the printer responded instantaneously and was quick. Ever since I upgraded to OS 10 it has always been slow. When I hit print now it takes about 10-20 secs to respond, then another 10-20 secs to begin printing. I have always upgraded to the latest drivers etc with no real help (but not recently). Using a G4 400mgh, OS 10.3.9. HP 940C printer. Have 920mg RAM, original HD of 10gigs.
Thanks,
Glen

Glen, as Carl mentions, you might give different Drivers a try.

Try one of these, it could be a huge improvment. Don

  • Slow Printing with Adobe Reader 8.1.2 on Terminal Service

When I want to print something on a Terminal Server without admin rights its very slow, when I print with admin rights its fast. Can someone told me where is the problem with the rights?
    Thanks

It could be that the Printer Setting has been set to ensure that the Duplex Printing would no longer be applied and its overriding the Printer Dialog settings.
You could check the Printer setting to ensure that duplex printing is enabled.

  • Slow printing with rdp Terminal server 2012

    Hi,
we've got some problems with slow printing on a wan link with RDP to server 2012, i tried several solutions like:
Disable easy print service ( it shoud be to increase performance but it doesn't work)
option: Send the print job directly to the Printer
I'm out of my options, there are no connection problems with the remote branch office and before using server 2012 they had terminal server 2003 and printing works fine over rdp.
    Thanks for your advice

Did you monitor the spooling size of the print jobs?
Depending from the drivers and the software used there may flow a serious amount of data, since both hardware and software makers no longer care about efficient programming, if it comes to bandwidth and storage occupation sizes. Slow WAN connections do not
fit in to their picture any more ...
This was still different in the Server 2003 era.

  • Extremely slow printing with hp photosmart d110

Recently, I've had extremely slow wireless printing from my laptop to our HP Photosmart D110 series printer.  The printer is part of our wireless network and is used by my business laptop and our home laptop.  When I send a simple Excel spreadsheet to print, the printer screen says, "Printing", the on/off light flashes and it looks like it's printing.  But it takes 1-2 minutes for the document to finally print.  This problem does not occur when we print from the home laptop; things print instantly.  No updates or system changes before this problem started.

1-2 minutes! Try 10-15 minutes on my Photosmart. These things are junk. I have discussed my many issues with phone support 10-12 times in the last six months with no progress.

  • Two-sided printing with HP 940

I've got a HP Deskjet 940 WITH the duplexer but I cannot for the life of me see where / how I can enable and access two-sided printing in OS X (had NO problem doing this when it was with my PC).
    Suggestions?

First, you need to have a printer driver that enable two-sided printing. I don't know HP 940, but with my HP (J6480) it came with the printer.
In the print dialog box, you need to press the arrow next to the printer name to see all options. Once you see all options there will be a menu on the right side where you can choose options for the printer. If the printer driver supports duplexing, one of them should be two sided printing. Depending on your printer, it could be different places in that menu. It might also depend on the program you're printing from. Try from preview, it should be there (if you use cmd-P to print). If you don't see the option, it might be a printer driver problem.

  • SLOW printing with HP PhotoSmart 7960

If this has already been addressed in another thread, please someone point me there, but:
Problem is that suddenly my HP PhotoSmart 7960 has started to take 1/2 hour to print a simple single page of text. I'm using OS X 10.3.9, by the way.
Tried updating the drivers from HP - no good. Tried Repair Permissions - no good.
Can someone out there tell me how to completely remove any trace of HP software / drivers from the hard drive? Is there a print queue or memory buffer that needs to be purged? Figured I'd re-install the original drivers if I could completely remove any trace of a printer or print job having previously existed.
Spent more than a few frustrating hours on this - any help is appreciated!

  • VERY slow print with CS5 mail merge

Creating a newsletter in CS5 Indesign.  Using "mail merge".  Total database is 900 names.  Tried using in blocks of 100 at a time and still takes at least an hour to print.  Is there a way to reduce resolution or something to cut print time?  Printing both sides of 11x17 black/white on Minolta Postcript printer.

It's simply to do with the amount of data which is going to the printer/RIP. Assuming the newsletter was two pages, then over 900 records means that 1800 pages are going to the printer/RIP. It's the equivalent of printing a dictionary.
Assuming that the Minolta printer is a desktop printer being merged to via merge to Print, then the option I would take is to make the InDesign file as lightweight as possible e.g. make sure images placed are no larger in resolution than they need to be, etc. Its not something that could really be done through the print dialog box as there aren't enough options to choose from.
Otherwise, could merge to a PDF first and then choose the downsample options prior to the merging of the file.
    Hope this helps.

  • Extemely slow 7610 printing with pauses

We recently purchased a HP 7610 printer to take advantage of the wireless and wide-format capabilities.   Both of our PC's are running Windows 8.1.  We purchased and installed the two-sided add-on for duplex printing.  We do not need/want the ePrint capabilities/web services.  Web Direct is off.   Our local network traffic is very light - no games or movies.
The 7610 is connected via our wireless router, and is extremely slow when printing.  It takes at least one minute to begin actually printing although the display inidicates it is printing so it is doing something. Once it begins to print, it prints all pages but pauses for 15-30 seconds after printing about 2/3 of the last page.  It finally flushes the buffer or whatever it is doing before it finishes printing and ejects the last page.  This happens when printing from any local application or from the web.  Our old reliable 7310 (hardwired to the router) prints smoothly and quickly.
We installed the driver from the CD shipped with the printer, and have also de-installed and then re-installed using the driver downloaded from the HP website so we believe the driver is current.
How can we eliminate the delay when it begins to print and eliminate the pause when it's almost finished?  Do we need to forget about the wireless connection and run a cable to the 7610?

  • Slow printing hpc4780

slow printing with HP C4780 and Snow Leopard/Macbook pro.   Works fine when connected via USB, but wireless it takes forever to load up and then pauses after the first page or two.  have installed and reinstalled the HP software.  Various forums report the same problem and suggest rolling back to old HP drivers.  However, these drivers are not available on Snow Leopard.

in error log I also find :
    [31/Mar/2015:08:09:02 +0200] [Job 15] PID 940 (/Library/Printers/hp/filter/hpPostProcessing.bundle/Contents/MacOS/hpPostProce ssing) stopped with status 1.

  • Extremely slow wireless printing with HP Photosmart Premium C309g-m

I'm seeing extremely slow print speeds when printing wirelessly from a Mac or a Windows XP system to a new HP Photosmart Premium C309g-m printer. The printer begins printing immediately when I request a print, but it only prints one line. It will then take about 15 minutes to print the rest of the page, printing each line after a very long pause. Demo page printing doesn't exhibit this problem, only documents from programs like Word 2008, Safari and Firefox (tried firefox on PC and Mac) are affected.
If I connect to the printer through a USB connection it prints fine, so this problem appears to be with wireless printing only.
    Printer: HP Photosmart Premium C309g-m
Computer: Mac mini (Late 2009 model) (also tried a Windows XP laptop as a comparison, using latest drivers from HP's website)
OS: Mac OS X 10.6.2 with all available updates installed
Computer connection method: Wired Ethernet connection to wireless router
Printer drivers: version 2.2.1 (Apple supplied, HP drivers never installed as system shipped with 10.6)
Wireless router: Apple TimeCapsule (Early 2009) 1TB, running in a/n and b/g modes on 2.4 and 5GHz. TimeCapsule is in bridging mode as the DSL modem handles DHCP service
Encryption: WPA2 Personal, no MAC filtering or hiding of the SSID.
IP addressing scheme: All addresses are handed out by DHCP server with no reservations of any kind
The TimeCapsule is sitting three inches from the printer and the printer indicates full signal. Connection of the printer to the wireless network and setup of the printer on the Mac went without a hitch. Only when printing a test document did we discover the problem. The wireless network is behaving as expected when accessing the Internet from both Mac and Windows devices (tested with a Dell laptop running XP and a MacBook running OS X 10.6.2), so I don't see any overall problems with the wireless network.
    Attempted remedies:
    1. Rebooting and powering off, waiting, powering on computer
    2. Resetting the print subsystem, turning the printer off and on again and reinstalling the printer
    3. Unplugging power from the printer and letting it sit for several minutes before trying to print wirelessly.
    None of these worked.
    This question was solved.

I don't think there is anything wrong with the DSL modem HW.  There might be an issue with how print data is being routed though.
Please try the second experiment where you blank-out the default gateway and DNS entries from the printer's internal web configuration page.  Open the printer's internal web page by browsing to its IP address.  Select Networking and then Wireless (802.11).  Under the IPv4 Configuration tab, select Manual IP:
For Manual IP Address, use the existing printer IP address.
For Manual Subnet Mask, use 255.255.255.0
For Manual Default Gateway, leave blank.  This is important.
    Select Manual DNS Server:
Leave both the Manual Preferred DNS Server and Manual Alternate DNS Server fields empty.  This is important.
    Press Apply.
Turn off the DSL modem, the printer and all computers connected to your network.  Wait 60 seconds then turn on the DSL modem and then turn on the printer.  Then turn on the computers.  See if this corrects the printing speed.

  • Color printing with new Pixma very slow

(this was also posted on the general Airport Extreme forum, but I realized later that it's more pertinent to this one)
I recently replaced a Canon Pixma iP4300 printer with an iP4700. It works fine when it's connected directly to my iMac, but when I connect it to my Airport Extreme (to share it with other computers in the house), the color printing is extremely slow. Regular document printing is fine, but a color graphic or photograph takes a very long time. This never happened with my iP4300.
I've tried all the suggestions in the Printer Troubleshooting file and all my drivers and software are the latest versions.
Any other things I should try?

    Hello Andy, Thank you!
    - The computer is a New MacBook Pro with 4GB of RAM.
    - Many times, I try with new libraries, even I try Format to zeros, and when import new pictures, the problem appears again.
    - All the pictures are imported to the main HD.
    - Is a regular spinning type.
    - I had try every option, even change the computer for a new one.
    - Yes, the OS en every case was updated to latest version.
    - No problem by the questions, I apreciate your help.
    Best regards!
    Ps.
In some users chats, the people says that is a bug of the last version of Aperture, but not in all cases appears.

  • How to fix extremely slow printing from web pages with latest updates (iMac) & HP Office jet printer. (It was not a problem with earlier versions of Firefox & same computer & printer.)

The latest two updates of Mozilla Firefox are not useful for me because of extremely slow printing of web pages. It was never a problem before. Same iMac and HP officejet printer. How can I either fix it, or revert to an earlier version of the browser (without losing all my bookmarks) which didn't cause this problem?

Try scanning from your Mac.  Use Image Capture app in your Applications folder.
Click once on the scanner on the left side, then click on Show Details along the bottom.  Along the right side you will see LOTS of options for scanning and saving.

  • Hp laserjet M1530dnf MPF slow printing

The  technical specification for this printer is a print speed of 26 ppm.  Last night I attempted to print a 31 page PDF file. It printed nine pages in 22 minutes before I cancelled the print job.  I have an HP Deskjet 6600 for color printing.  I sent the same file, set for B&W, to that printer. It completed printing all 31 pages in less than six minutes.  Both printers use a wireless connection.  Printer drivers for both were updated on 12 Apr 15.  All Microsoft updaters have been applied.  The 6600 is about three years old.  I've had the M1530dnf Laserjet for about 45 days.  This is just the most egregious example of the Lasterjet's abominably slow printing. Even a five page Word document can take between 3-to-5 minutes. The device manager reports the printer is working properly, but that is obviously not the case.
Any thoughts on where to go next are appreciated.  The printer is still under warrenty, so I can take the problem back to HP. If thast's my option, does anyone have as good phone number to use? I used the number on the support web site and went through three people and over half-hour on hold only to get disconnected.  I'd like to streamline that process by contacting the right person on the first call.

As it turned out, the problem was traced to a needed firm ware update.  HP did a remote control section, had the problem isolated very quickly, performed the correction, and all within a half-hour the printer was back where it should be,
Everybody gets kudus for helping; everything you suggested got me closer and closer.  Completeing the steps you outlined  helped me sound a lot more intelligent.  When I spoke to HP, I had accounted for most of the possible variables.  That way, the time with them was much more productive.
