Slow project load

Hello,
Does anyone have any experience of RoboHelp HTML taking an
excessive length of time (over half an hour) to load a project? I
have a colleague who has a project of similar size that takes a
couple of minutes to load. Is there any way to identify the cause?
Thanks,
Alan

How big is the .cpd file?
If it is large, take a back up of the project file, delete
the .cpd file and try opening the project via the .xpj file. You
may see a significant reduction in the .cpd which can get a bit
bloated.
Kind Regards
Craig

  • Ultra slow project load time

I was wondering if anyone else has encountered this problem and can point me to the solution.
After capturing 40+ hours of footage in a new project (log and capture only), every time I try to load the project it's a 10-minute affair.
I'm wondering if I'm low on memory (see 3GB and other specs below) or if it's my Firewire 800 LaCie drive. All the clips are either HDV or DV (NTSC), so nothing out of the ordinary.
If I need more memory, I'll get it. Just want to identify the problem and not throw money at random solutions. Any help would be appreciated.

Well...I broke. After waiting 20 minutes for the project to load up (for about the 25th time), only to do 'spinning beachball' every time I try to work with the project, I've decided to start the capture over again Hello, 40 hours of re-do capture time.
This time, all project files and media will be captured/stored on my CalDigit S2VR Duo drive (thanks Shane for the nice review and why I went this direction instead of G-Tech). Hopefully, this problem won't rear it's ugly head again on the new striped RAID drive.
I can only assume that it's one of two things: (1) I had some bad media in the whole mess and it's freezing the system when trying to access the project and relink video clips/files or (2) maybe the LaCie drive is on it's last leg. I don't know, but in the long run, it may take just as long (with the frozen state of the project) to figure it out as it will to recapture.
I will post back with an update once I've reached the 'old' video capture point on the new project file (on the new drive).
And before someone asks, the Media Manager was working just as slowly as the loading of the project, making it impossible to try and re-capture the project onto the new drive through FCP.

  • Premiere Pro CC locking up and very slow to load bigger projects

I am having a problem with premirepro cc locking up and very slow to load bigger projects.
    Windows 8 machine

I am having the EXACT same issue and now we are WAY behind deadlines.  We have Adobe for Teams on 3 computers, all are HPZ820, Dual Proc with Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2650 @ 2.00GHz, 32 GB RAM, Dual Video Cards Quadro 6000 4GB, Windows 7 64 bit with all the latest patches.  Everything worked on the first release of 2014 but last week there was an "update" to Premiere.  Since this update, projects work for a short period.  When you start a new project and add footage, you can scrub the footage and play the footage with no issue.  But the more assets you add, simple Titles, it slowly starts to fail.  Playing the timeline starts and stops and then finally the end result is you can't even play the timeline.  The Program window is frozen.  I have even tested starting a new project, adding assets one by one but no matter what, I get the same results.

  • Prem CS4 very slow to load projects

Just upgraded to CS4 from CS3 and am finding some HD projects in particular takes quite a few minuites 5 - 7 to load. These were orginally CS3 projects that loaded within 30 secs at the very most.
Anyone know what the problem is?
    OS VISTA ULTIMATE 64 bit
    8GB Memory
    CPU core 2 Quad 3.5
    Thanks
    Richard

I don't know what the problem is but you could try creating a new project in CS4 and import the CS3 project. See if that project loads any faster.
    Cheers

  • EXS24 is so slow if loading an instrument i never used before

EXS24 is so slow if loading an instrument i never used before. But after the 1st tough time, loading of this patch can be very fast later even after restarting system thousands of times:-)
I did not change and use any personal setting of ESX24 data fodler. even if loading a Logic factory sounds, it still happens. only the 1st once time is tough. i tried reinstall Logic 721, the problem is still existing. i tried scaning and save
scaned data in Project Manager, seems not helpful.
i think EXS24 is seeking samples data when the 1st time i want to use it. it doesn't make sense because all data is in the local hard drive and i have set
specific directories to scan in project manager.
may be this problem is caused by BootCamp. because i installed an XP system
under wizard from BootCamp. But logically, we can simply initialize user information of Logic for fixing the seeking problem. but i don't know where those information or configuration are stored in OSX.

i don't think it's normal behavior. because all instruments in my local partition
    are Factory sound bank only:-)
once time I tried converting some GIG into EXS24 format according to the PDF guide, it was pretty good even the 1st time loading.
this morning I plug a USB hard driver on my MBP, and then loading a patch
i never used before. seems surely EXS24 is seeking data, because this a light
on this USB hard driver was shining for couple seconds before the end of loading.
anyone knows how to block the seeking directorys of EXS24 during loading?
according to the Manual of EXS24, only default directory and user-defined directories shall be available. but now seems something's wrong.

  • Fcpx so slow to load now

    question:
    Any help would be appreciated,
I have 32 gig of ram - 1 Tb hardrive- used about 700 gigs already-
FCPX is now soooo slow to load-  I am using 2 external harddrives for media - they ar pretty loaded but now all of
a sudden it takes 30 minutes to open FCPX.
    why?
    DF

Hard to know from your description. Where are your projects and events – on your boot drive or external?
How full is "pretty loaded"? What percentage is free on those two external drives?
If those two external media drives are full of projects and events that FCP can see and they are all getting loaded when the app is opened, that could be a reason. If that's the case, hide the projects and events.

  • Does a RAIDed set of hard drives help project load/save time?

My editor has a project way above the '100 mb' recommended limit. Right now around 230 MB i believe. But I've also heard of people who have **3-4 GB** project files!! How on earth do they efficiently work in it?
My editor's project file takes a long time to load, save, autosave, and her FCP crashes occasionally, always during saving/autosaving. She has FCP installed on one hard drive, her project files located on a seperate hard drive. Not sure of speeds, but both have at least ~40% free space.
If she had like a RAID array, the one where you take 2 drives to make one big one with a theoretical 'double' write/read time, and she put her project file on that, would that speed things up? If she had 2 sets of that RAID configuration (what is it?), put her applications (inc. FCP) on one array, her project files on another, would that speed things up even more?
Also, we have all our media on a SAN connected to the editors through gigabit ethernet. Could this be slowing things down in anyway?

RAIDs get you faster read/write times with your MEDIA. They will not help with your project issues. Do what Randy suggested. Multiple project files are the key.
Raided drives get you more RT effects with media, and allow you to work with uncompressed formats. Nothing to help out slow projects.
    RAM, Processor...and smaller project files.

  • How to reduce project load time?

I am currently working on a large project (25+ Mb, thousands of vis) with something on the order of 100 classes.  Opening the project is painfully slow.  It usually takes 7-8 minutes.  I'd like to figure out a way to reduce the load time.
What is LV's behavior regarding loading project file vis and libraries (lvlib, lvclass, etc.)?
Are all items in the project automatically loaded when the project is opened?
Are items not in the project but used as sub-vis automatically loaded?
Are dynamically linked items not included in the project automatically opened?  (I imagine not.)
Are dynamically linked items that are included in the project automatically opened?
    Thanks,
    Dave

    Hello,
I have talked to multiple people about your issue and we honestly believe that you you are experiencing is expected behavior based on the size of the project and number of VIs used. Creating a new project will sometimes help when a project file has a corruption within it. Since you are experiencing the same behavior on multiple computers, any difference in load time will be a function of the speed, RAM, etc. of that particular computer as compared to your machine. In saying that the files are technically loaded, I am saying that their locations are known so that when they are called, they can be loaded into memory as needed. It does not have to load any portion of the VI other than the location on disk. I would not expect either of those methods to reduce your project load time. Switching to dynamic linking only changes the order in which LabVIEW searches for the files. As I stated before, files added to the project are defined by the name and location on the disk. You can think of the project file as an XML file with different pieces of information about the files. If the file cannot be found, it will try to dynamically link the files by searching for them on the disk. When this happens, it goes through a seris of locations where the files might be located. When the project is loaded, it looks for the files that are listed in the project file first. I hope this helps.

  • Abnormally Long HDV Project Load Time with CS3

I have a relatively small HDV project, about 30 clips captured with HDVSplit. I find that after the CS3 splash screen goes by and while the project loading progress panel is displayed it takes about 2.5 minutes for the project work space to appear. Everything seems to work fine once the work space is displayed re: CS3 editing functionality.
Has anyone else run into this slow loading problem? Any suggestions as to what may be causing this? The clips are relatively short and the entire sequence on the timeline is less than 15 min.

    For Pete's Sake man!
I am new here and there seems to be a few guys that have their heads so far up Adobe's *** that you do not see what you are saying.
    I understand Howards frustration.
You people think that everyone must go out and buy All of Adobe's Products. To assume any person must be forced to buy a program they do not want or cannot afford is plain rude and obnoxious.
We are not all professionals like some of you, some of do actually shoot weddings, like myself. Why the heck must I buy more programs than I need (although I won After Effects Already)!!?? If you are all so professional why are you on these forums instead of making features in Hollywood? Dammit I get so upset by some people.
You leave people hating Adobe and their products. I have been reading this forum for about a day now and there is a common pattern. A guy will have a problem, 2 people will complain that he posts on the forums, 3 people will tell him to get rid of his camera, 4 will say buy After Effects or go buy this plugin. It is ridiculous! You are people are insane.
Final Cut Studio is by far a better option, you buy it and it works straight out of the box, no plugins no go buy another application. I am not an Apple supporter is hater, it seems that everyday I struggle with Adobe is one day I consider moving my business to Apple and Final Cut.
Premiere Elements is for kids. I wanted a professional editng program that was able to do it all in one, Adobe seemed to offer this.
Let us think about for a minute lads. It is either PC or Mac, Mac has good points but the initial investment is quite large so let us put it aside for now. PC. What editing software is there for PC. Sony Vegas, Premiere, AVID, Edius, Avid Liquid/Pinnacle, Ulead, Movie Maker, Power Director/Producer, and various others. So what do you chose....
Vegas, just does not have it all you know
Avid Liquid, again it's a bit for beginners
Avid, wow too bg for the guy starting out,
Premiere, the best pick of the bunch,
the rest are for kids and real amateurs.
Buw wait Premiere cannot function on it's own, it needs a plugin to this and a plugin to do that, it forever needs plugins. The only thing it is good for is just SD. I want to edit HD or HDV in Premiere I must go buy Cineform, what a load of crap. I want to do basic little effects,go buy After Effects, I want to colour Grade, go buy this or that plugin.
The cost of Premiere is fairly good, but before you can use it you need to buy After Effects (for effects simple and advanced), Photoshop (for titles), Cineform (well to edit anything actually and to support formats and proper 1920 x 1080 HD 4:4:4 uncompressed), and add that all up and it costs a shitload.
So that leads us back to Final Cut Pro where it all makes sense. You buy one G5, and one Final Cut Studio and it gets the job done all in one wonder. NOBODY OUT THERE CAN ARGUE WITH THE BENEFIT OF THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
Now this entire post was pointless since I know everyone out there could not wait to get to the end just they could quote me and argue. You reading this did not even bother to see it from an objective point of view, I know for a fact. Whilst reading you were not listening. So this post was pointless, because nobody will STILL get it.
Disgruntled Adobe End user. I am returning CS3 back to Adobe for a refund.

  • Reports that are slow to load

I am adding a report in my project at the vb.net 2005 but they are slow to load. What is the best way to do this task to be loaded into faster?.
I am using the Crystal Report version 2008 with Visual Studio.Net 2005 in a Windows application.
The evidence I have done so much in development environment as user stations, in both situations the burden of reporting slow.
I am adding the reports through a Crystal Report Viewer
Very thanks and greetings from Costa Rica.

Look at where and as I put the code Ludek
    Private Sub Frm_Reporte1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load
            Dim Reporte As New CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument()
            Reporte.Load("
    glauco\Reportes\Ventas 08\Vta - Sugerido Pedidos.rpt")
        End Sub
However, the form still takes 6 seconds to load and reporting over 2 seconds.
I said, I'm only using a CrystalReportViewer in which I have directed the report from the server by selecting Properties from the menu ReporSource of CrystalReportViewer.
Do not know if this will have something to do. Honestly, I have worried about this situation because I have everything ready to take the project as soon as possible.
    Again, thank you very helpful.

  • TOC/Index slow to load

    Hi all,
I have just followed Peter Grainge's methods for splitting a
large project, and creating merged webhelp (thanks Peter!).
Everything is working as expected, except when the webhelp is
first called the TOC and index take about 3 seconds to load from
the UK. This increases to over 12 seconds in New York, which is
    pretty unacceptable.
When we had one large project the appearance of the TOC was
instantaneous here in the UK, and much quicker in NY too.
Does anyone know if it is possible to speed this up?
I am publishing with Optimize Speed For Web Site, and I've
tried excluding the Java Applet but this made no difference (I
thought it might cut out some of the processing time). The actual
help topic in the right pane appears instantaneously.
    Many thanks,
    Kate

    Some things to consider:
I also notice that a large merged project loads OK, up to
    displaying the welcome topic.
The TOC sometimes is a little slow, and a large index and
    search database can take awhile.
It wasn't always this way. I've surmised the server is busier
    than it use to be.
Also, WebHelp output raises a lot of red flags with html and
JavaScript checkers. Some of them may be related to slow loading.
    I routinely make these fixes:
    whdata/whftdata0.htm
    It's missing a </body> tag before </html>
    whdata/whftwdata.htm
    Same as above
    whfdhtml.htm
Has </head> not followed by <body>. Either move
</head> down to nearly the end, or insert <body> and
then near the end, insert </body>
    whtdhtml.htm
Has head and body sections with a block of scripts between
them. Should be in one or the other.
    whskin_tbars.htm
    Has no proper <body> tag.
    Same for
    whfform.htm
Also have a look at the launch file,
    myproject.htm
After the </head> there are scripts not enclosed in a
head or body section. I move </head> down, just before the
    framesets.
    whskin_tw.htm
No <head> ... </head> tags before and after the
    block of scripts.
    same for:
    whskin_frmset01.htm and ...10.htm.
    whskin_plist.htm
A couple of timeout/reload pieces may be involved.
in whstart.js, near the top, is a reload value 5000. Try
    2000.
In whtbar.js, just a few lines from the end, is a function
    tryReload
Comment out the documert.location.reload line like this:
    // document.location.reload
As usual, I must caution that this seems to work while not
introducing new problems in my enviroment(s) . It may not be the
    same for you

  • Course slow to load on LMS

Published a course to our LMS made up of 6 fairly large (lots
of video) Captivate projects. The modules are slow to load when
learners are viewing them. Is there a setting in Captivate when
publishing that will allow the course to start once a certain
portion of the files have been downloaded?
    Thanks for your help!

If you have a copy of Flash, you can create a custom
preloader that determines exactly when the movie starts playing.
Essentially, you just need to change a number that determines
how much of the movie must load. However, you mentioned that you
use a lot of video and I don't know whether the preloader takes any
of the video files into account before starting the movie.
If you're still interested, here a post that gives the basic
details (you can also search the forums for 'preloader' and
    probably find more detailed instructions):

    work

Web pages are very slow to load, I hve run Norton Eraser and found no issues that would cause this

New HP Pavilion three weeks ago.  After several attempts by the 'experts' I finally got a straight answer from a tech in the Philipines yesterday, 01-29-2015.  HP and Microsoft are working to resolve the issue of slow pages and a dead cursor until the next page finally loads.  You may have discovered that Google Chrome DOES NOT have this issue.  Comments about HP would not be allowed here so I will just say, use Chrome until the issue with IE 11 is resolved.

I just installed 4.0 this morning. Ever since, Hotmail is extremely slow to load, it keeps locking up or not responding.

  • Since upgrading to ios8, pages very slow to load, and can no longer read items in my reading list when offline. ?????

SI since upgrading to ios8, Safari pages are very slow to load, Kindle crashes upon opening, and I can no longer read saved artices from my reading list when offline. Big disappointment. Is it possible to downgrade to previous ios?

I actually managed to fix it! But unfortunately I don't know what I was that I did that helped.
Anyways, this is kind of what I did.
    1. I tried to reset form bakup via iTunes, no change.
    2. I tried to reset as a new iPhone, problem still there and reading list also as bookmarks!? (several hundred)
    3. Noticed that I could delete a bookmark, once in a while, the other times I got the 'Bookmarks are being synced. Please edit the bookmarks once syncing has completed.' message.
    4. Because I figured that it was a memory problem, I thought it made sense to delete as many as possible, witch I did.
    5. Noticed that it was more likely that I coould delete a bookmark if I restarted Safari.
    6. Notice that it was even more likely that I could delete a bookmark if I turned the Safari sync with iCould off (with option detete information on iPhone) and then back on again.
    7. When I was about half way through deleting the bookmark list I suddenly discovered that all but one of the items in my reading list was 'waiting' and one was downloading. I kind of was 'unstuck' now.
    8. I started to delete items in my reading list, but every other time I got the 'Bookmarks are being synced. Please edit the bookmarks once syncing has completed.' message.
    9. It took a while to delete all bookmarks and items in the reading list.
Hope you guys could use the info here to fix your problems too!
