Slow Report Processing  somtimes timout, but no cpu load

Hi,
after searching different forums, the help and here I finally have to post our problem.
Running a report from our web application  is very slow (5 minutes), even the  the timeout  message
"Error  The request timed out because there has been no reply from the server for 600,000 milliseconds. " for some reports occur.
Monitoring the database server shows me a  hit at the cpu load,  while processing the sql, after this i see   some load at the server where BOE is installed, but only for a small amount of time (<1 minute).
After this  no load on any server can be seen, but the viewing page  in a browser is loading and loading and loading  till the timeout appears.
Running the same reports in The CR Designer works, it takes some time but it works
I'm bit unsure now where to look next, a network problem I would exclude, having a 1 Gigabit network here.
Any one here with hints  where to look next ?
Thanks in advance for your help
Regards
Thomas

Hi
You need to adjust the Windows Power Plane settings in order to improve the cooling system.
<Setting Method>
Changes in Operating System:
Control Panel --> Power Options --> Change plan settings --> Change advanced power settings --> TOSHIBA Power Saver Settings --> Cooling Method
Changes in Bios (Power Management):
Intel Turbo boost Technology
Changes in Operating System:
TOSHIBA HW Setup --> CPU Frequency mode
Try this settings:
Power plane (Toshiba power saver) Battery optimized
Intel Turbo Boost technology (BIOS) - Disable
CPU frequency Always low
From my experience this should reduce the noise.

  • Slow responding Logic Pro 9, but enough cpu left

    Hi there!
A really frustrating problem, wich i don't seem to get fixed.
    I am working with:
    2x2.26 6GB 1066 Mhz
    LION
    Logic Pro 9
    Apogee DUET soundcard
    Axiom Pro midi Keyboard
All is  updated with the newest update
When i work on a project, with almost 85% CPU left, my projects in Logic Pro becomes really slow and doesnt seem to respond to anything.
If i play the project and hit the space again to stop it, the song continues to play. If i wait 10 seconds, its stops.
If i play the project and take my mouse and turn on a knob of a plugin, it responds really late o not at all. If i press space to stop the project, no respons, if i press stop on my midi keyboard the project does stop. After this all actions made before, are made at the moment the project stopped.
Notice: If i press the stop button on my midi keyboard, the tracks seems to stop immediately. Really strange.
Somehow it is only possible to stop the song with my midi keyboard. But even when it does and i start again, the problem stays.Playing the song and making changes at the same time is almost impossible. After a few seconds, the project gets really slow again. Mostly the slow error occurs after 1 minute working in the project.
So there is some strange problem, but what exactly?
I formatted my harddisk, installed LION on it again and reinstalled all my software. Then i created a new project with only 2 plugins and a few effects, still the same problem occurs.
This problem makes producing and a good work flow now nearly impossible.
Does anyone have an idea what this could be, any suggestions are most appreciated!
    Thanks!
    Quintin

With Activity Monitor, (already done it a few times) there was nothing really high in cpu.
Yes i already had an axiom pro added in Control Surface (setup).I also selected hypercontrol for in and out there.
Logic crashed twice, after clicking on 'Bypass All Control Surfaces' . After selecting this and going to setup > it crashed selecting an axiom pro..
So there is going something wrong over there?
I copied the crashreport maybe it is useful:

  • Reading CPU load for individual process

    Hi,
I am refering to an older post:
    http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&message.id=156234&query.id=20131#M156234
How can I not only get "memory usage" but also "CPU load" for a particular process from "Simple Task Monitor.vi"? This smart little program is part of the LabVIEW examples. Unfortunately, I am a .net greenhorn and wasn't able to figure out how I could make the program giving me "CPU load". Where do I know from which inputs are available for a .net constructor node?
    Thanks for any hint,

  • CPU Load problem

    I have an iBook G4 800 Mhz processor - 512Mb ram...
and i'm trying to run ableton live - but the cpu load is too great - and i keep getting glitches in my audio stream - plus it has a cpu meter that goes up to like 86% - 92% when i'm only running 2 tracks which shouldn't be hard for the comp to do...
would a 1Gb ram chip do the trick? or am i wasting my time and i need to get a powerbook? also are there any tricks to lessening the cpu load?
    thanks for ur help!

    Hi Mesaboogiewes,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
Ableton.com recommends disabling Energy Saver, fullscreen mode, and Exposé. I would recommend putting the 1Gb of RAM, you will find a better result. I suggest going to the Ableton.com website and looking for more troubleshooting issues.
    I hope that helps,
    Jon

  • High CPU-Load while no one is working

    Hello everyone,
we have a customer with a new installation of Business Object 3.1 SP3 with SAP-Integration
Kit, LCM, Business Explorer on 1 VmWare-Host.
After installation nobody is working on the system but the CPU-Load is around 30%
    from "fileserver.exe *32" and 10-20% from "CMS.exe *32".
How can such CPU-Loads be avoided? It's a Windows 2003 Standard Server 64bit.
    Thanks in advance
    Marco

    Hello,
We are on HP UX and CPU utilization shows almost 80% when no user is accessing the server. Still we havent roll out the solution but can imagine the performance when there would be users simulataneously. Folks, please help me providing document links or tips for this issue.

  • Isolating WebIntelligence ad hoc reports to specific Webi Report Processing Server

    Post Author: Lucia Chan
    CA Forum: WebIntelligence Reporting
Has anyone successfully isolated WebIntelligence ad hoc reports to be processed by specific Webi Report Processing Server?  We need to enforce governance on the database side.  We can restrict scheduling for Webi reports to specific Webi Report Processing Server, but not for ad hoc reports.  Otherwise is there a way to do connection override for scheduled Webi reports?

New version that's comming up SBO Bi4.0 will have bouilt in monitoring that will allow what you requesting.
In the current product line - this is not possible, unless you just monitor WIReportServer.exe at OS level and alert when it's memory or CPU usage goest too high... (if memory reaches close to and above 1.7gb - you're going into troubles.)
There are various fixes and improvements to Webi processing stability in recent fix and service packs, so if you're having webi instability - you should review latest FP fix issues list (in SMP to right of FP download there is an Info link - it leads to fixed issues docs).
If you do not see your issue listed - open incident with support - let them investigate.
Webi crashing when merging/unmerging dimentions sounds like a bug...

  • CR Max Report Processing Jobs Limit  - reg hack not working

    http://coil.sap.com/irj/boc/index?rid=/library/uuid/f053713e-3e3d-2c10-2a81-f79259e54023
I've followed the steps in the above PDF and my application's behavior has not changed.
My web app uses session, and calls .close and .dispose on last report when users go to load a new report (easier this way with the way the application is written).
We have a new, very powerful web server, so I've set the reg key in question to -1, restarted the box and I'm still getting the dreaded Crystal Reports Maximum Report Processing Jobs Limit after an hour or so of usage.  True, we do have some complicated reports, but -1 is meant to remove all limits?  Server is doing fine on mem/processor usage.
    I using CRXIR2 runtimes (CrystalReports11_5_NET.msi) on the Win2k3r2 server, .NET 2.0
Why is the reg setting being ignored?

    Hello,
To clarify also, you can set that number to anything you want but it is limited internally to 75. Anything more than 75 and the engine ignores it, same when setting it to -1, 75 is still the max. Ideally this should be set to 50, QA tested with 75 so that is what we set the default to in the registry. And to confirm, this is the number of jobs the RAS server can handle at one time, it is not the number of users that can send reports to be processed, the default is 3.
Also Jason pointed out the inProc RAS ignores the registry setting also, even though we read the key it's ignored if it falls out of usable range. There is also a Stand alone verion of Crystal Reports Server Embedded but it's for OEM Partners only. It runs as a Service and in CRSE 2008 you can have more than one server running. But not an option if you are not a Partner.
And as Ludek mentioned, you need to move to a supported high volume configuration. For this type of load I suggest you use the Full Business Objects Enterprise and change your code to use the Job Server to process reports. The job server will spawn a separate process for each report job and distroy the process when the job is complete thus releasing all memory associated with that job. RAS does not do this, it's a single process spawning separate threads for each job and therefore it does put excess loads on the CPU in your configuration.
Keeping 3 users in mind build in Report Job caching internal in your app. Your can application managing the report jobs is more efficient in this configuration than RAS doing it. We only hold onto the job for so long, 20 minutes is the default, and then we move onto the next job. So if any jobs fail it can cause problems which I believe is why you are having to cycle the WEB server. If you do this make it configurable/switchable so if you do migrate to BOE you must let BOE manage the jobs, it is designed to do this and managing it yourself may cause problems but this is all dependant on how and what parts you use.
Another option with BOE is you can have multiple RAS or Job Servers installed to take advantage of the hardware. This way you are not limited to one RAS server processing reports. We internally handle Round Robin job assignment. Example if you have 4 RAS servers running and RAS#1 is busy it will pass the job request to RAS#2, if it's busy it will pass the job to RAS#3 and then #4 and carry on until a RAS server is avaiable. If RAS#2 is then free it gets the job assigned to it and the next job is queued....
    Thank you
    Don

  • Limit CPU load of a single process

Is it possible to limit the CPU load of a certain process to e.g. 70% leaving 30% for the idle process?
I have some CPU intensive simulations with hard-disk access running over night. Does not make a difference if the job takes 4 hours or 6 hours - I am sleeping anyway. But I'd like to be nice to my beloved MacMini and keep it cool. The room temperatures are pretty hot this summer anyway and I don't know if my MacMini will withstand several hours at 100% CPU load, hard disk access and ambient temps of 38°C (100°F). Just want to be on the save side.
Is there a shell command like 'limit -cpu <process_id> 0.70' ?
Or can I clock my macMini at half the usual clock, i.e. at 700 MHz?
What about a loop: (1) 'kill -s stop <process_id>' (2) wait 3 secs (4) 'kill -s cont <process_id>' (4) wait 7 sec. - How to program that loop in a shell? Which command to set the timing?
    many thanks
    Markus

Thank you for your answer, etresoft.
Yes, you are right, nice +20 and nice -20 does not make any difference, because the process I want to slow down is the "only" one running (beside residual 5% system load).
Your Mac will be fine even running full-bore.
I am not sure about that.
First, the fans get loud. Unfortunately, the Mac is in my bedroom and I would prefer a system load of 50-70%.
Secondly, I had a compressor job running over night for 6 hours. In the morning, I had a very weird file system corruption. I suspect a 'thermal issue'.
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=2715556
Maybe I'll do to 'kill -s start/stop'-in-a-loop script.
Unfortunately, I never wrote a shell script.
Any help how to make a loop and how to pause the script for 3 secs?
    Many thanks

  • CPU Load By Process

I need to get a running report of how much load each process is putting on the CPU.
Is there a way to get a report that will show four to eight hours giving each process and how much CPU it is using?

not exactly what you have asked for but, Process Explorer, https://technet.microsoft.com/en-gb/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396
Run this and enable the extra columns "CPU Time" and "CPU Cycles"
it will show how much time each running process as been active for and also the amount of cycles its demanding from CPU

    Welcome to Apple's discussion groups.
Launch the Activity Monitor utility. Pull down the list near the top and set it to "All Processes". Click on the "CPU" column heading to put the highest CPU consumers at the top. Also click on the "CPU" tab in the lower part of the window to check the value for "% Idle". If that value is much above zero, check the other categories for signs of resource problems. If nothing there points to a possible problem, launch the Console utility and look for messages that might suggest a problem. If you see messages that you have trouble interpreting, post them here and someone should be able to help.

  • I am having macbook air recently my iphotos did not open and was showing report apple and reopen but i came to know that by pressing alt and iphotos i open an new photo library and stored the pics but now how can i get the pics which i had in the earlier

    Well I'll guess you're using iPhoto 11:
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Slow report viewer/rdlc performance in local mode with Single Sign On

    Hi Team,
We have recently enabled Single Sign On to our application and after that our rdlc reports loading got extremely slow.
Please find the below configuration that we are using.
    1. Report Viewer 11.0.0.0
    2. running rdlc file in local mode (not using Report Server)
    3. System.IdentityModel.Services 4.0.0.0
The query behind the reports is returning result in 5-10 sec but report is taking 1-4 min to load (sometimes getting timeout) (as per the complexity of the report).
We have tried a lot of workaound but nothing worked.
i saw performance improvement in reports by addding <trust legacyCasModel = "True"   level="Full" /> in config file, But using this we are getting "Dynamic operations can only be performed in homogenous AppDomain" error
in many pages of our application.
Without SSO reports are running completely fine.
We are stucked here and not able to proceed. Is there any issue with the SSO and rdlc in local mode ? Is there any hot fix available for the same ?
    Please help !!!

  • Updateable Report/Pagination - rows found but not displayed

Bear with me if there is a post that covers this, as the SEARCH facility seems to be hanging when I search on Pagination.
I have a SQL Query (PL/SQL Function Body Returning SQL Query) which creates an Updatable Report.
If I run the Query and the selection criteria results in more than one page in the "search results" and then I go to page 2 or page 3, etc and then peform another search that only results in 1 page of "search results", the actual search results will not display, but the pagination will show the number of rows that should be displaying.
For example, I search on Coroner "John Black", which returns 55 rows. The first 50 are displayed. The next 5 are on page 2. If I then searchon Coroner "Jim Bean", 22 rows are returned (all on page 1). If I then search on "John Black" again, and this time, go to page 2 (to see the final 5 rows in the result set) and then search on "Jim Bean", I won't get any data in the report for Jim Bean, but a message showing that there are 22 rows of data. However, I cannot get that data to show (even if I select NEXT or PREVIOUS for the pages.
Then if I go back and select on "John Black", get the same problem. I basically have to sign out completely in order to get this reset.
Note that the problem occurs if you are on a page greater than that of the result set on the next query. For example, if I am on page 3 of 5 pages and perform another selection that has 3 pages, it is fine. But if the result set only has 2 pages, the form becomes confused.
If the "Layout and Pagination" has a "Pagination Scheme" set to "Row Ranges X to Y of Z (no pagination)" I get an error like "Minimum row requested: 2401, rows found but not displayed: 46".
If I use "Row ranges 1-15 16-30 (with set pagination)" I get "1-46" as a hyperlink, which if I click on, will show me the report.
If I use "Row ranges 1-15 16-30 in select list (with pagination) I have a problem.
If I use "Row Ranges X to Y (no pagination) I have problems.
If I use "Row Ranges X to Y of Z (no pagination) I have problems.
If I use "Row Ranges X to Y of Z (with pagination) I have problems.
Basically, the one one that seems to work is those that have a hyperlink. Uing NEXT, PREVIOUS or a select list does not seem to work.
Do you know what is causing this problem?

I have the same issue, but cannot resolve it following above suggestions. I have a report page with search criteria and a "Go" button to submit the search. The branch back to the same page has "reset pagination for this page" checked, but still if run a query that returns just one row after having paged forwards, I get no rows displayed and a pagination link "1-1" that when clicked brings up the selected row.
I tried adding a "Reset Pagination" process to run on submit (unconditionally), and it made no difference.
    I am using HTMLDB 2.0.

    Hi Leo22,
Does this error occur if you use any of the example programs that come shipped with LabVIEW? I would try opening one of the examples that write data to Word and see if those give you an error. Also, have you tried just putting down a New Report.VI and change the report type to Word? If this simple vi (that's all you need to open Word) breaks, I would check to see if there are any instances of Word still open. Check the task manager to see if any word processes are still open. There should not be a problem accessing Word 2003 from LabVIEW 7.0. If neither of these solutions work, please give some more detail about your application and we can research further. Thanks!
