Slow responce of ABAP webdynpros in Internet explorer compared to firefox

Hi all,
just wondering if anyone had any advice as to why certain functonality on ABAP web dynpros such as f4 help, re-populating dropdown list after  user command etc runs really slow on internet explorer with delays of around 5-8 seconds but when runing the same code on firefox there is little or no delay. I am guessing it is somthing to do with the javascript that SAP generates to display the UI elements but was just wondering if there was any way of speeding this up as it is really frustrating for the user as it is!
Regards
Martin

Hi Thomas,
Thanks for the info, I looked at the CPU usage and when you click on the f4 help button there is a hugh usage spike but doesnt seem to be down the virus checking, the functionality just seems to be cpu intensive. The pc'c being used are fairly high spec but unfortunately im not really in a possition to modify them anyway, these are the PC's they use and it needs run on them! Oh well thanks again I will keep looking into it and maybe re-write them as a second view rather than the popup window!
Also on a totally different subject is there a way to increase the size of the text, i.e. fior a UI elemt of type label you can set whether it is normal, emphisized etc but can you change the actual size of the text!
Regards
Mart

  • I created a web page in MS Word and saved it as html; it has lots of graphics; the graphics load perfectly in Internet Explorer but in Firefox there is simply white space where the graphics should appear

    The web page is not live: I just load it on my computer. When I convert the .docx file to .html, the graphics are saved by MS Word in the usual folder as image001.png, up to image032.png.
    I'm sure this is a trivial problem but I can't crack it.
    Many thanks. RS

    Does that "local" page work in Internet Explorer, but not Firefox?
    If so, it might be a \ vs. / problem with the file path for those images.

  • I switched from Internet Explorer to Mozilla Firefox and my bookmarks don't appear to have been transferred. The FAQ's say it should be in a folder marked Internet Explorer in the "Bookmarks Menu", but it's not there.

    Did you see a "Bookmark" tab in your Menu Bar? All of your IE Favorites should be there if you pull it down.
    FYI, It's called Bookmarks in Firefox.

  • When in my email, my links open into internet explorer instead of firefox

    When I am in my email and a message has a link and I open the link, instead of going to firefox, it opens in internet explorer, I use firefox not internet explorer.

    Hello, I'm having this exact same problem since the last few days, somethings changed on how the hotmail webpage is loading, or what it's loading, as Google chrome also reports an 'Aw-Snap' webpage error.

  • How can i change from internet explorer to Mozilla firefox when entering adobe ID?

    I ordered a photoshop element 13 licence. Everything went fine until I am asked to put my Adobe ID and password. My windows computer in combination with internext explorer cannot open the adobe internet side. When I am using Mozilla firefox I am able to log into www.adobe.com. Therefore I would like to ask if there is any chance to switch from internet explorer to mozilla firefox during login process?

    If you can login on Adobe.com then clearly you are logged in  on Adobe platform.  If you want to login to use these forums then click this link and login in the usual way using Firefox browser:
    <https://forums.adobe.com/welcome>
    The sign in button is on the top right corner next to the search button.
    Is this what you are asking?  If not please clarify again.

  • Internet Explorer, Chrome, or Firefox are not working in Windows 8

    Internet Explorer, Chrome, or Firefox are not working in Windows 8

    I found this on another forum and it worked for me.
    This problem usually has to do with TCP/IP or Winsock requiring a reset.
    Winsock entries tells Windows 7 how to access your network services. Additionally, your TCP/IP protocol can
    be corrupted. The TCP/IP protocol is a stack of 4 layers that includes several transport layers, but when this stack is corrupt you will constantly have connectivity issues.
    You need Admin access to enter the codes below. Windows button + x, then choose Command Prompt (Admin)
    netsh winsock reset catalog (reset winsock entries)
    netsh int ip reset reset.log hit (reset TCP/IP stack)
    You may have to reinstall Chrome and Firefox or reboot to have the chnage take place.
    Hi,
    This seems to be the only solution to my problem, however this is temporary. Any advice on a more permanent resolution?
    I have also tried  to disable  "Automatically detect settings" under: "Internet Options/Connections/LAN settings/Automatically
    detect settings".
    This has no affect.
    Thanks,

  • Google desktop and Picasa open Internet Explorer even though Firefox is my default browser

    I am using Firefox 6, and no matter what I do clicking on Google Desktop opens Internet Explorer instead of Firefox. I have set Firefox as the default browser in at least 3 places: In Firefox itself; on the Internet Options section of the Control Panel; In the add/remove programs Set Default Programs screen. This is all in Windows XP professional. The same problem happens with Picasa online albums (when I go from my computer's Picasa to Web Albums). I don't know when this started, but now I cannot get my Web timeline. I have uninstalled Google Desktop.

    Hello nanemy1854, set also firefox as default browser in Add or Remove Programs list in win xp, see for more information : [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/setting-firefox-default-browser-does-not-work#w_windows-xp Firefox as default browser in win xp].

  • Mm_menu.js HTML5 changes Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox

    Mozilla Technical Support,
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ie/bg182625(v=vs.85).aspx
    mm_menu.js is an output of Dreamweaver and enables drop-down menus. Microsoft is eliminating
    document.all and replacing it with document.getElementById
    to comply with HTML5 standards
    I modified mm_menu.js as Microsoft recommended (so I thought) and it worked perfectly well in Internet Explorer. However, I couldn’t get the drop-down menus in Mozilla Firefox. What do I need to do to get mm_menu.js to work or does Firefox need to make additional modifications?
    FYI, I tried using the following quick fix which resulted in the Internet Explorer page displaying incorrectly:
    <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=9"/>
    See below for the modified version of mm_menu.js
    It would be nice if the same javascript worked in both Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox.
    Thanks,
    Robin Rembish

    Yeah, it would have been nice if IE had followed web standards over the years before IE11 came out so that programs like Dreamweaver would have "gotten it right" from the beginning, instead of their users having to "patch" the code output by Dreamweaver to make it compatible now. That's what the "like Gecko" is all about = make it work like Mozilla.
    Try posting at the Web Development / Standards Evangelism forum at MozillaZine. The helpers over there are more knowledgeable about web page development issues with Firefox. <br />

  • How do I return functionality of my bookmarks menu before Firefox update 23.0.1? I don't LIKE internet explorer, now my firefox is acting like IE; gee thanks.

    How can I restore the functionality of the Bookmarks shortcut. I DO NOT LIKE internet explorer, it is cumbersome and slow. How can I modify the bookmarks shortcut to act like a menu again? I do not like the bookmarks and history pop-out... Firefox was above the bar, now I have 2 copies of internet explorer on my computer, one with an icon that looks like an E and one that looks like my old firefox browser.... This was a result of the update 23.0.1 this morning, it was perfect when I went to bed last night.... Maybe I should use Chrome?

    does it work as expected when you launch firefox in safe mode once (to rule out the interfering of any addons)?

  • Outlook keeps opening links in Internet Explorer, regardless of Firefox being the default browser

    I have Firefox 4.0.1 running on a Windows 7, 64-bit computer. I have Internet Explorer 9.0.8112.16421 installed as well.
    I use Outlook here at work and have Outlook version 14.0.5128.5000 installed, which is part of Microsoft Office Home and Business 2010.
    I have tried to set Firefox as the default browser on the computer. When I go to Start->Default programs, Firefox is set to default. When I open Firefox and check in settings, it says it is currently the default browser. I have tried to set IE as the default, then switch back to Firefox etc. But still regardless of this, Outlook opens all links in emails in Internet Explorer.
    It is very annoying as IE is a lot slower than Firefox, especially when I already have Firefox runnint and Outlook needs to start a new session of IE every time I open a link.
    Does anyone know how I can force Outlook to open links in Firefox when Firefox is already the default browser on the computer but Outlook still opens links in IE?

    I have the same problem (roughly) - I have PDF hyperlinks in an Excel spreadsheet and, when clicked, instead of them opening directly in Acrobat (or via Firefox, my default browser), they open via IE. Regular HTML links in the Excel spreadsheet open in Firefox.
    I have enabled the '''Block PDF files' access to all web sites''' option under ''Trust Manager'' category in the Adobe Reader ''Preferences'' tab.
    I have also disabled the '''Adobe PDF Link Helper''' Extension in the ''Manage Add-ons'' tab in IE.
    Obviously, neither of these settings made any difference.
    * Windows XP Pro SP3
    * Microsoft Office Excel 2003 SP3
    * Internet Explorer 8.0
    * Adobe Reader X (Version 10.1.1)
    * Firefox 8.0

  • URL links provided in emails (Windows Mail) stopped working. I get a popup message: "Windows cannot find...." asking me to make the URL is correct. I connect to Internet Explorer, but not Firefox, my default browser.

    I have already updated Firefox to latest version and reset the default mail program to Windows Mail. But Windows Mail now doesn't want to recognize Firefox. If I shift to Internet Explorer, I have no problem. I have no problem receiving or sending emails, just using links contained in them.
    This happened suddenly, two days ago, at the end of a day when linking had been possible, per usual.

    nothing that I could find would solve my problem, so I just gave up trying...
    then I had a group of Microsoft Updates badly interact with each other, causing me all kinds of stability problems involving SQL and printer drivers.
    To fix those issues, I backed out all updates within the prior two months, then [slowly and painfully!] reinstalled them -- when done in groups, you can tell how Microsoft corrects bad updates by noting which ones are not reinstalled.
    I also had to download and install every single MS SQL update available before everything that was broken worked again. Note that none of the updates had titles that suggested anything at all to do with web browsing (other than Internet Explorer) or Firefox.
    There was also at least one Firefox update shortly after my re-installation of Windows Updates.
    Funny thing happened along that path: as of today (version 32.0.1) has none of the problems I reported, but I cannot say for certain which change fixed them: I was far more concerned fixing SQL and printer issues to even test Firefox for default file association settings.
    Sorry that I cannot be more useful, other than the general suggestions to:
    (1) keep your system fully updated with all patches
    (2) keep your anti-virus, anti-malware, and anti-spybot software current as well
    (3) keep any program that uses HTML and other browser protocols also up to date
    (4) take regular snapshots of your registry, and create a system restore point before every system and software update, so you can more easily back out problems
    (5) keep the installation package(s) for prior version(s) of software (and Windows Update files) at least until you verify an update hasn't broken anything.
    Hope that helps.
