Slow scanning of SFX RAR files

We have been lately have issues with SCEP 2012 when accessing SFX RAR files. There is a long delay before the file can be access and the CPU% on the MsMpEng.exe service is very high.
Simply right-clicking on the file to view properties will result in a long delay. The delay will also occur when you try to open, copy or manipulate the file in any way. Once the file is expanded it behaves normally.
I didn't see any settings in the SCCM console under the Client Antimalware Policy to address this.

Hi,
Thank you for your post here.
As far as i know, it usually results from conflict between processes. Please refer to the link below to check if it is helpful for you.

  • Slow scanning with photosmart 7520

I am scanning a bunch of old photos for a collage.   Often you hear the scanner quickly scan the photo.  Then it gets hung up for a long time showing a partial of the photo and a box that says "scanning" and a green progress bar.  Sometimes it hangs up for 1 - 2 minutes.  Some pictures only a few seconds.  They are all about the same size photos.  I am scanning on 200 dpi.  Why does it take so much longer on most of the photos?

    Hello @rmayes,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you're experiencing a slow scanning issue when scanning from your HP Photosmart 7520 e-All-in-One Printer to your Windows 7 computer. I would like to assist you today with resolving this issue. Thank you for including that you are scanning your photos on 200 dpi. Rather than a printer, driver, or software issue I do believe that we're dealing with a connectivity issue or a firewall issue. When you print only 1-way communication is used. The computer sends the print command to the printer and the printer will then print the job. However, when you scan 2-way communication is required as the computer and printer send the scanned data back and forth until the full image is on the computer for you to work with. Because of this slow scanning issue I believe that something is interfering with the 2-way communication.
In order to provide you with accurate support I will need to clarify how your HP Photosmart is connected to your computer (USB, Wireless)?
In the meantime, I am going to have you run an MSConfig on your computer. This will allow us to temporarily disable all the background programs from running on your computer. Once the background programs are temporarily disabled I will have you test scanning again to verify if the speeds are faster. If the speed is faster with the background programs disabled than that will tell us that there is definitely a program on your computer causing this issue. Please follow the steps below.
    Click on your Start menu
In the 'search programs and files' box right above Start, type msconfig and hit enter on your keyboard
When the System Configuration Window opens select 'Selective Startup' and uncheck Load Startup Items
Click the Services tab. Check the box at the bottom for Hide All Microsoft Services
    Select Disable All
    Select Apply and OK
    Restart your computer when prompted
Once your computer comes back on please test scanning again.
Please respond to this post with the result of running the MSConfig. Should the issue persist be sure to let me know how your printer is connected to your computer. I look forward to hearing from you!

  • Stuffit 10 opens rar file to folder..... now at dead end....... anyone?

Stuffit Expander 10 opened a rar file but then after opening the created folder, I click on install and/or setup and stuffit seems to be the wrong program to open folder. I can't seem to choose anything that will open this file.
Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I've never seen a .rar with Mac software inside. It's mainly a Windows archive file format (even if Stuffit can decompress it). So, go back to whereever you downloaded it from and check the system requirements...if it doesn't say Mac (in any variety) you probably can't install it.
The primary archive formats you'll see for mac software are:
    .dmg (disk image/OS X)
    .img (disk image/classic)
    .bin (bin hex/classic)
    .hqx (stuffit/classic)
    .sit (stuffit/both)
    .sitx (stuffit/OS X)
For command-line/Terminal/X11 software (a lot of which is compile-yourself) you might also see:
    .tar (tape archive...not actually compressed)
    .bz2 (bzip 2, a unix-type zip file)
.gz (gzip, another unix-type zip file)
    .tar.bz2
    .tar.gz
For just plain documents, but not usually software you'll sometimes see .zip (from winzip, but it's a popular cross platform compression sceme).
But .rar? I know of it, but have never seen it on a Mac. Also, there's a vulnerability in the .rar compression scheme that can spit out a virus when being decompressed during a virus scan. The virus will not likely infect a Mac, but it can mean your files can become a carrier if you pass the affected one to a PC.
In summary, stay away from .rar's

  • Can Ironport handle RAR files?

We're starting to get malicious content embedded in RAR files attached to emails.  This shouldnt be a problem as we have a policy to quarantine any emails with executable attachemnts coming in.
It appears that, although the Ironport recognises the .rar attachement as a compressed container, it is unable to expand it, and so this malicious EXE is getting through.  They have also made it just bigger than 250MB so that it is missed by the CASE and VOF scanner limits.
    We're using AsyncOS 7.1.5-017 on a C360.

  • Extremely slow scanning

My scanner has become extremely slow. This happens every once in a while. Sometimes pages scan very quickly but sometimes it takes about 3-5 minutes per page to scan. Any thoughts?

    Hello @Lynn12345,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you're encountering a slow scanning issue when scanning from your HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One Printer to your Windows Vista computer. I would like to work with you today with resolving this scan speed issue. However, in order for me to provide you with accurate support today I do need to clarify a few things.
    1) Are you using your printer through a USB Cable connection or Network connection?
    2) Are you scanning PDF files (text documents) or JPEG files (pictures)?
    3) Are you scanning from the document feeder on the top of the printer or the flatbed glass?
    4) Do you notice a slow speed when copying from the flatbed or document feeder?
In the meantime, I am going to have you download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor. This Tool will run on your computer and 'fix scanning' issues for you. Should any driver, software, or connection conflicts be found than the HP Print and Scan Doctor Tool will attempt to resolve those conflicts for you. Please click here to download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor Tool.
Once the Tool has completed please test scanning again to verify if the speed issue has been resolved.
Please respond to this post with the result of running the HP Print and Scan Doctor Tool. If the issue persists, be sure to include the answers to my questions above. I look forward to hearing from you!

  • PI 7.3 - Read .RAR Files

    Hi there,
I'm newbie at SAP PI, I've never seen it before and I'm in a project where the company hired a PI consultant to make it work for SAP GRC x NF-e  (Brazilian fiscal notes). This consultant is showing me what he did here and... I'll need to learn it because I'm going to be the responsible about PI when he finish it...
We have SAP GRC 10 and SAP PI 7.3.
One of requirements from this project is receive a e-mail from other companies, with xml files attached. This xml file sometimes can be within ZIP file, or RAR file... That's the problem: RAR Files.
The consultant did a ABAP Proxy who gets every kind of attachment and extract if it's a ZIP File, using CL_ABAP_ZIP, standard class.
What can we do to make it work to different kinds of files? (.rar, .7zip, etc). I have no idea, but... is it possible to do any Java Mapping, or something like that?
    Thanks!

PI 7.3 has capable of processing larger size files.
    Questions:
Have you picked EOIO quality of service? Hope you dont do mapping or content conversion for this file?

    Hello,
You can schedule an operating system task (Control Panel -> Schedule task) to either call a batch file or a PowerShell script.
Please read the following resources for examples:

Found a soln, add the codesource to the j2ee instance application.xml
    eg adding the following
    <imported-shared-libraries>
    <import-shared-library name="oracle.bpel.common"/>
    </imported-shared-libraries>
solves the problem. Make sure the shared libraries are installed and is added to the instance server.xml
    This is described in "Oracle® Containers for J2EE Developer’s Guide 10g (10.1.3.1.0)"
But not sure if the end customers need to be told to edit the configuration file manually.

  • HP Officejet 4315 with Windows 7 - How to scan into a .pdf file?

My Officejet under HP Solutions software worked wonderful at scanning files into .pdf with Windows Vista.  Now that I have an upgraded computer with Windows 7, I've found that HP Solution is no longer available and I have to use the Windows Scan and fax software which is very limited.  It only lets me scan into 4 different file types - .bmp, .tif, .gif and .jpeg.  None of my usual contacts can read and open the files I send them now.  What can be done here to allow me to do business as usual?  The only way around this that I've found is I can scan with Windows Paint and then insert the 'picture' into a word file which I can then convert to .pdf, but the quality goes way down, not to mention my time to do this goes way up.

OK, only solution I've found is to use a 3rd party program - try cutePDF.
    Thanks for nothing HP!

Hello pf1tarac, I don't believe that is possible. In order to create a PDF file, you would need Adobe Acrobat or some other PDF compatible product to save a scan to the PDF format.
There are some free PDF programs available.  Here  is a link to one of them.

  • MacBook Pro won't allow me to copy/unrar .RAR Files (error code -36).

So basically, I've been downloading a lot of .RAR files and its been fine until now. I can't copy/unrar anything. I tried so much I even upgraded from snowy leopard to Lion. I'm pretty angry and I've tried dot_clean /users/manraj/desktop/
I've reformatted my externals and honestly I can't even Time Machine back it up let alone copy it. Genius Bar won't help at all because they never back anything up. If anything they aren't responsible for loosing your files.

  • How to Open a rar file with downloaded software

I was bothering this forum yesterday trying to find some way to get a file opened that I had downloaded. Today I discovered that my problem was that "rar" files need their own software to enable them to be opened....So I downloaded the software UnRarX...and it is now sitting on the bottom of my desktop...but I can not get the software into the Applications folder, and so I can not figure out how to use this little package of software to open my "rar" files...
What do I have to do to open my files with this new software???
    Thanks..
    Miguel

    HI,
The UnRarX application should be accessible from your Dock after installing the software. The application icon looks like this:
"How to extract a rar archive?"
    1. Launch UnRarX.
    2. Drag rar archive into the UnRarX window.
    3. Extraction begins automatically.
