Slow scrolling in Music Store

When browsing the itunes music store, resizing and scrolling operations are incredibly slow. Does this have something to do with hardware acceleration?
I have a ATI 32MB Mobility Radeon with all the latest drivers on a 1.6GHz Pentium M Thinkpad, so hardware should not be an issue.

I don't know what to do with your problem but is this someone that is in the Krymson Band???

  • Extremely slow connection to Music Store and Streams

There have been multiple threads detailing troubles people have been having both with the iTunes Music Store and streaming music via iTunes. Extremely sluggish performance has been reported for weeks now.
Over the past 3 weeks I've found that a search on the Music Store can take 30 seconds or more. Downloading a song can take minutes. Browsing is extremely sluggish. Sampling songs results in repeated rebuffering ("Network Stalled/Rebuffering Stream" messages), even if one sets the Streaming Buffer Size to "Large". I've tried reverting to 6.0.4 and shutting off the Firewall and Personal File Sharing, none of which had any effect.
I experience the same sluggishness both at work, via a high speed office LAN/T3 connection, and at home, via a basic DSL setup. The friends and associates I've surveyed are experiencing the same sluggishness. No proxy servers are used at either location.
I don't know about others, but I've found this sluggishness makes the iTunes Music Store completely unusable. It would be helpful if Apple were to give us some kind of indication as to what's going on if it wishes to retain it's dedicated customer base. If it persists, there are alternatives. Yes it is sluggish at times but far from unusable. Why not select the "Loads ....before playing" option in iTunes prefs>Store to get over the rebuffering problem. I think it is slow due to the popularity and high volumn use that the iTMS gets. Try a different time of day. I use it late at night (USA time) and don't have all the problems that you are experiencing.
Why not contact iTMS customer service directly as Apple does not currently pay much attention to the forums. The reponses here are from fellow forum users and not from Apple employees.
By all means if you are dissatisfied with the iTMS then vote with your pocket book and go else where. Last time I checked it was still a free market place.

  • As of today, neither sample songs on the music store nor songs already downloaded will play correctly.  They are stuttery and slow.  I have iTunes 10.5 and have not downloaded any upgrades for anything recently.  They were working last night. Thoughts?

As of today, neither sample songs on the music store nor songs already downloaded will play correctly.  They are stuttery and slow.  I have iTunes 10.5 and have not downloaded any upgrades for anything recently.  They were working last night. Thoughts or advice?

I found a solution that worked for me.  Here is what I did and where I found it.
"Looks like I tracked down the problem, it worked for me so I hope this works for everyone else experiencing problems.  Go to your Task Manager and locate the program APSDaemon.exe (Apple Push)..... if you see this executing terminate the program and then startup iTunes and it should come up fine.  You will see afterwards that APSDaemon.exe (Apple Push) starts back up but this is fine as long as iTunes has already started.
I tried playing both music and syncing up my iPhone with no problems.  Note if you shutdown iTunes again you will have to terminate the process APSDaemon.exe (Apple Push) again.  Haven't had time to see what in the world Apple Push is but this appears to have corrected the problem so that you can at least use iTunes and sync any device that needs to be synced.
    Hope that helps everyone!"

  • ITunes music store veryyyyy slow

I can get onto Mozilla and Internet Explorer with great connection speeds, however itunes is the problem. I am downloading an episode of The Office, which normally took a little less than 5 minutes, but it is taking up to 80 hours to download. I live in a college dorm, and the same problem is also happening to my roomate, and another person across the hall, but I haven't asked anyone else yet though. I upgraded to itunes 7 before this problem happened, and my roomate was still on itunes 6 when his music store started going slow. I tried flushing out my DNS like a help topic told me to, but that didn't help, and i don't think i have any pop up software to delete, can anyone help me?

I am haveing the same issue when first opening the music store. I never had a problem before when using iTunes version 6 but since I upgraded to 7 I can not open the store or my shopping cart. I tried clearing the dns and that did not work either.

  • ITunes Music Store Slow Down

Since upgrading to the latest version of iTunes and Tiger 10.4.7, whenever I try to access the Music Store I see the progress bar with the "accessing music store" message for several minutes. It does eventually load, but everthing in the store is slow. Podcasts also download painfully slow. And it's not a bandwidth thing, I am on a cable modem and the windows box next to me accesses iTunes just fine. Safari, web downloads, and evrything else on the web still accesses as fast as it used to. Can anyone help? Apple?

I've also found all aspects of the Store extremely sluggish since upgrading to 6. Previews and radio streams constantly getting rebuffered (even with the cache set to "Large"), single track downloads taking 5 minutes or more, and searches taking 30 seconds or longer. It makes browsing & purchasing music on iTunes completely impractical and I've since given up my one track a day purchasing habit, probably for the better.
I've found this sluggishness to exist both on my university's campus (T1 Lines) and my home DSL line.

  • SLOW Music Store loading times (Safari too)

For the past few weeks (unsure if directly tied to a security or version upgrade), the ITunes music store has become painfully slow to load. The load bar starts, gets about 90% there quickly, then appears to 'hang', like it is having trouble loading the last couple images. All store pages have the same problem, including searches. Similar thing happening in Safari, though is more manageable since, unlike ITunes music store, the screen appears before it is fully loaded.
Other computers on my same home network, including both a mac and a PC, do not have this problem with ITunes. It is definitely just this one computer.
Have tried resetting Safari, playing with the buffer setting on ITunes, no luck.
    Thoughts? Thank you

    Hi Jim,
The 'refresh to force the page to load' symptom is usually a sign that you either have the wrong DNS addresses specified in your Network preferences or your ISPs DNS server are very slow.
Have a search for DNS on the Safari forum - there's quite a few posts and sample addresses for you to try out.
    Good luck.

  • Very slow iTunes Music Store performance

Since upgrading to the latest version of iTunes, whenever I try to access the Music Store I see the progress bar with the "accessing music store" message for 5-10 minutes. It eventually loads but then then trying to navigate within the store is just as slow. The other interesting thing is that content on Apple.com that's related to iTunes Music Store (like banner ads, promo content, etc.) is not loading either or might load after 2 or 3 minutes. And it's not a bandwidth thing. I have fiber optic service. Any ideas?

Must have been an ITMS server problem at Apple. Everything is smokin' now.

  • Slow Connection with iTunes Music Store

Hello. I just got to college with a 1.83 Intel Core Duo Macbook Pro that I've had for a couple of months so I am familiar with it. My Broadband Ethernet connection is fine except for the iTunes music store, which is incredibly slow. It takes about 5 minutes to connect to every link within the store, and finve minutes for the initial connection. I have tried all of the troubleshooting suggestions, un-installed iTunes, re-installed iTunes, emailed and telephoned apple care, and this is my last effort. I do not have a firewall, but still the Music store is incredibly slow. Does anyone have any suggestions or am I just screwed?

Download speed has improved a lot compared to last week. Yesterday I downloaded several albums and it took just a few minutes. I must say it was faster than importing from a CD. That said I must say that there may be some issue with your internet connection. Maybe the ISP is blocking the downloads. Check with your ISP first.

  • Slow response from iTunes Music Store

This is a problem for a lot of iTunes Music Store customers. Many people have complained that they get "cannot connect to the Music Store" error messages. Apple replies that repairing the Keychain can fix the problem, but I and several others in various discussion forums find that doesn't help.
After upgrading to iTunes 6 and repairing my keychain, then restarting, I find that I can connect to the Music Store only after repeated attempts. I get the error message repeatedly, but if I keep trying enough times, I finally get through.
A similar problem happens when I try to preview or buy songs -- I get several error messages, then finally connect.
Using the Radio feature is similarly frustrating. I have to wait ten minutes or more after clicking on a genre to get a list of stations, and often I have to face a long wait with no error messages after selecting a station.
I don't have this problem when connecting to the Music Store from other computers, but I have no other problems connectin to the Web from Safari or Firefox, or with any e-mail program.
However, Apple's site seeems wonky -- lots of "document contains no data" when I click on forums or even to log in.
I am using an iMac G4 (the dome computer) with Mac OS X.2.8.
    Apple, what's the solution?

    You're not alone. Since Saturday I seem to be experiencing two problems;
1: The previews of tracks don't work properly - that is to say, they don't download correctly - I'm on 2Mb broadband and I've had to switch it into download the whole preview before playing due to it only playing 12 seconds of the 30 seconds if I leave it 'on the fly'
    2: I have repeated problems downloading tracks from the ITMS. THey get 50% of the way through then I get ;
"There was an error downloading your purchased music. The network connection was reset. Make sure your network connection is active and try again."
After repeated retries I eventually get the track downloaded but it's painful.
Again - this has only started happening since Saturday (I've been using ITMS on my mac since it opened in the UK), and like I said I'm on 2Mbits/s broadband with no other issues.

  • ITunes Music Store VERY slow

With the rest of my internet connections working at full speed, I find that the iTunes Music Store has virtually become unresponsive. Minutes go buy waiting for every last click to finish. How can I improve this? It takes 3-4 minutes at least to go from one item to the next in the iTunes Music Store. Browsing is impossible at such speed. Everything else on my Mac is just fine. Using 9.1.
    Help!

I think mine is my Internet provider - Optimum Online.
Did a speed check last night and was getting 2Mb/sec.
    This morning I'm at 13.
I guess Friday night at 10:00 is Optimum throttle down time.
Just coincidence that I noticed this issue when I moved to an external HD... but I did see an answer somewhere saying that could be a problem. shrug

  • Previewing songs in the music store using dial-up connection.

I know, its lame but I live in a very rural area and cannot get high speed out here.
Using dial-up, how do I preview a song before I decide to buy it? I double-click like you're supposed to, but nothing happens.

  • ITunes Crashed when attempting to access Music Store

hello. I am using iTunes 6.0.5.20 as of today, and continue to have a problem carried over from the previous version...
when I attempt to access the iTunes music store in the regular manner the program closes without any error messages, the icon remaining in the system tray until i scroll my mouse over it upon which it disappears - the program crashes outright -
i have e-mailed apple support and attempted to use all of their automatically generated solutions in solving this problem including -
upgrading (was never the issue i stay up-to-date generally)
checking my network and program access settings including firewalls etc.
    run the repair process
run the un-install re-install process of both itunes and quicktime
i've also tried re-calibrating the itunes library by deleting the appropriate files and having itunes re-determine the included files... nonetheless the problem remains
this is becoming immensely frustrating and to be frank, i work in the recording industry and for all the talk about apple support - i have been immensely frustrated by the lack of personal support whatsoever - i have received only automated responses regarding online documentation... as if i didn't spend horus trying to solve the problem before sending an e-mail at all.
please if anybody has any ideas i'm desperate to solve this.
    cheers
    elias

Your problem is the same one affecting countless iTunes users, including myself. There seems to be a common factor in that most if not all are using Windows XP Pro and I've noticed that the computer make, when listed, is a Dell. I have been through all the same Apple fixes, waited on hold for support for 1 1/2 hours just to be hung up on. I've had this issue for over a month and it has transcended both iTunes ver 6.0.4 and 6.0.5. Interesting thing, sometimes I get an error message telling me iTunes has to shut down and most of the time, the application closes unexpectantly and I have the same icon in the system tray till I hover my mouse over it. Frustration has turned to anger and a desire to find another product to get music into my and my 2 kids Ipods. I'll keep an eye on your post and let you know if I uncover anything as well.

  • Downloaded Update, now cannot access Music Store

We've been able to use the s/w without incident. Today, we were prompted to download your update. We did.
Now when we attempt to access the Music Store, we get a popup with the following:
iTunes could not connect to the Music Store.
Make sure your network connection is active and try again.
MY NETWORK CONNECTION IS JUST FINE - IT'S YOUR DOWNLOAD THAT'S THE PROBLEM. IF I UNINSTALL YOUR S/W AND REINSTALL USING THE CD-ROM, WILL WE LOSE THE MUSIC WE HAVE PURCHASED THUS FAR?

If you have any probs with getting into you music store after downloading a new version of itunes you have to configure your personal firewall in Norton. To do this - Open you Norton Internet Security, click on Status & Settings, go down to Personal Firewall and click on Configure...Click on the Programs tab at the top, in Manual Program Control, scroll down until you see itunes, click on the arrow next to it (it might say BLOCK ALL right now)...Change this to PERMIT ALL... and you should be good to go!! good luck all!
