I already repaired the disk perimissions and the dis itself via disk utility, cleared my chaches, booted in safe-mode and tried to close all programmes and dismount all devices bevore shutdown. So I can just offer you my error log-file and hope you guys can help me!
Cheers Flo

    hi all,
hope someone can help me out, I'm trying to create a database using a SQL script, the content of the script is:

It fails in creating the database with the following output:

sorry to revive this thread but i have one more issue with this. I created a database with DBCA insetead of CREATE DATABASE command and selected option for Fast Recovery Area space. This automatically set initialization parameter db_recovery_file_dest and db_recovery_file_dest_size, but did not create a OMF redo log group, but instead created three redo log groups with 1 member each.
    select * from v$logfile returns:
    1          ONLINE     /u01/app/oracle/oradata/testdb2/redo01.log     NO
    2          ONLINE     /u01/app/oracle/oradata/testdb2/redo02.log     NO
    3          ONLINE     /u01/app/oracle/oradata/testdb2/redo03.log     NO
Any idea why if creating a database with create database command and specifying db_recovery_file_dest creates an OMF redo log group and with DBCA it doesn't?

    Hi Sawwan,
V$LOGMEMBER was written in the document,
I query the log members as bellow
    1)select a.group#, member, a.status from v$log a, v$logfile b where a.group# = b.group# order by 1;
    GROUP# MEMBER STATUS
    1 /oracle/DEV/db/apps_st/data/log01a.dbf INACTIVE
    1 /oracle/DEV/db/apps_st/data/log01b.dbf INACTIVE
    2 /oracle/DEV/db/apps_st/data/log02a.dbf CURRENT
    2 /oracle/DEV/db/apps_st/data/log02b.dbf CURRENT
    2)SQL> select group#,member,status from v$logfile;
    GROUP# MEMBER STATUS
    2 /oracle/DEV/db/apps_st/data/log02a.dbf
    2 /oracle/DEV/db/apps_st/data/log02b.dbf
    1 /oracle/DEV/db/apps_st/data/log01a.dbf
    1 /oracle/DEV/db/apps_st/data/log01b.dbf
But i am littile bit confused that there is no group or datafile called " Group 3 and log03a.dbf" as per the above query, how can i drop tease group and datafile.
and i crossverified in the data top the files are exist or not but those are not existing. but still i am getting the same error that i can't create that already exist.
can issue the bellow queris to drop those group which i dont think so it will exist?
    SQL>alter database drop logfile group 3;
    Thanks in advance.

  • Log files can be applied after an offline backup is restored?

When reading the Admin Guide I see above possibility.
I guess in that case the offline backup must be done in the Database Maintenance Mode: QUIESCE.
I think if the offline backup is done after the DB is shutdown, no log files can be applied.
Would you please confirm and share your experience on this?
    Thanks a lot!

    Hi Jennifer,
only to complete the answer of Jens, or "say" it less complex:
1.) Yes you could roll forward an offline backup. DB2 always end in rollforward pending state after a restore independent of the backup type (online | offline). In case of an offline backup you could complete the restore without logs, otherwise not.
2.) The offline backup is done in a special mode, it is neither online nor quiesced. Nobody can log on to the database as long the offline backup is running. To start the offline backup, you have to deactivate the database as described by Jens.
    Best regards
    Ralph

  • Error in creating log files in create script with ASM

In our create script we have:
    LOGFILE GROUP 1 ('+REDO1/oradata/cssys/redo01a.log') SIZE 100M;
I'm getting the error ORA-00301: error adding log file '+REDO1/oradata/cssys/redo01a.log' - file cannot be created.
    ORA-17502: ksfdcre:4 Failed to create file +REDO1/oradata/cssys/redo01a.log
ORA-15173: entry 'oradata' does not exist in directory '/'
The datafile didn't return an error and there we had DATAFILE '+DATA/oradata/cssys/system01.dbf.........
Not sure why the error occurs on the REDO, the DATA and REDO look fine in ASM. Thanks in advance.

I have no personal experience with this, but pl see if MOS Doc 604982.1 (Unable To duplicate Database on ASM From one Server To Another Host) is applicable in your case

  • "Share over Wan" - passworded but log files say differently?

In a desperate attempt to get backup features to work on my TC, I enabled "Share over Wan". Thinking that I've got more than enough security with disk passwords, I didn't automatically think there'd be a problem.
I then looked at my log files on my TC a day later and saw successful logins from IP's other than mine - but all within the same subdomain.
Does "Share over Wan" supersede the disk passwords? I've tried accessing from other subdomains (my work) and always get prompted for passwords. Should I be worried about these successful logins or ignore them as successful pings (or the like?)
I've, of coarse, now turned off "Share over Wan".

I have one suggestion: your count_lines method will be quite slow on large log files.
Rather than use readlines you can optimize the read operations like so:
    line_count = 0
    File.open(identifier.to_cache_path) do |f|
    while block = f.read(1024)
    line_count += block.count("\n")
    end
    end
The speed boost makes it comparable to shelling out to wc.
Thanks for the suggestion; I just committed it.

it seems to be a trouble with server performance pack. Try to DISABLE performance pack on your server and restart (unckeck "Native IO Enabled" on your domain"). You can also found some suggestions on http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs92/messages/Socket.html (check for "BEA-000414" message).

  • Switch log file is too slow

    hello,
    my database is 10R2
the specified size of online redolog file is 50mb
the switching of log file is too slow..
even though the size of archived log file has become around 50,029,there is still no log switch of file..
why the log switch is not occuring immediately after the size reaches upto that limit(50,029)...?
what might be the setting do i need to do..
    any help ....any guess ??
    thank you..

    Hello,
The frequency of the log switch depends on the activity of the Database.
You may check the Alert log for some messages like this:
Thread 1 cannot allocate new log, sequence ...
Checkpoint not completeWhile Oracle needs informations in the Redo log to complete the Checkpoint, it cannot reuse it. So, it can happen that the Database doesn't switch the redo log up to the Checkpoint is complete.
If you have this kind of messages, the following link may help you:
    http://asktom.oracle.com/pls/asktom/f?p=100:11:0::::P11_QUESTION_ID:69012348056
Often, it's solved by adding redo log files.
The Parameter fast_start_mttr_target may also help the Database to optimize the checkpoint:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14237/initparams068.htm
Else, if you don't have this message ( checkpoint not complete ...), but you want to log switch more frequently (even if the Redo log is not completely full), you have the parameter archive_lag_target. It can help to force log switch every n+ seconds:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14237/initparams009.htm
NB: It's not recommended to get log switch too frequently, in general you shouldn't have more than 3 or 4 log switchs every hour.
    Hope this help.
    Best regards,
    Jean-Valentin

  • PSE 7 adding unmanaged files slow with video (.avi .mpg)

I take mostly pictures (.jpg) with some video clips (.avi or .mpg) from my digicam. The files (pics and vids) are transfered from SD card into my managed folder structure. Then in PSE 7 i right click on the topmost folder of my managed folder structure and select Add Unmanaged Files to Orgainzer.  PSE then Searches for Files To Import by scaning through all of my files currently in the Organizer (i can tell by the displayed thumbs and paths). Pictures are processed very quickly but the import process REALLY bogs down on the video files. This process also generally crushes the responsiveness of my PC (i7, 6GB RAM, ATI 3450 128MB video card, Vista 64bit SP2) even when PSE isn't the active window. I have a CPU Usage sidebar gadget and none of the 8 'cores' are being taxed. In my collection I have according to PSE Organizer 231 video files out of 9359 total files (so 9128 are pics) and my last import took nearly an hour before I could tag the newly added files. In the interim my PC was unusable for other tasks. As the # of videos in my catalog has increased so has the time for the import because PSE for some reason has to deal with all the files already in the catalog on every import, including the troublesome video clips.
What is going on with the Organizer when videos (.avi or .mpg) are being added? Why is it so slow on each video file and why does the adding of unmanaged files generally crush my system (its useless even when the import isn't dealing w/ a video)?
For comparison Picasa 3 adds new files (both pics and vids) from my watched file structure automatically on startup very quickly and does not impact useability of my PC and I can even use Picasa while the files are being added. It all happens so fast and with no impact.

I'm still curious if anyone has any insights on slow Adding of Unmanaged Files to Organizer.
A new spin on this is after moving a number of files from my camera to disk folder system (via windows explorer) then starting PSE 7 some time later, PSE asked if I wanted to add files from watched folders to the organizer.  I selected No because I needed to do something else at that time and was afraid of the timeconsuming process i mentioned in my original post.  Now after subsequently exiting and restarting PSE with the intent of adding unmanaged files, PSE didn't ask if I wanted to perform this operation.  If No means no for this batch then there should also be an option that says 'Not Now' or 'Later'.

  • Database slow; Log file sync shown in AWR

Our database becomes slow occasionally and when i looked at AWR report it shows 'log file sync' quite often. Any idea why this is happening?

    Garry,
    1. Please get the SA to check the I/O Subsystem for any I/O queues
    2. Check redo log switching sequence in alert log during the time of this slowness and see if there is anything unusual.
    3. Generate ADDM report and see if it has any redo related recommendations
    4. Do you have any batch jobs running during this slowness? Check if there are any unwanted frequent commits (like COMMITs within a loop) is happening

  • Slow sync and huge synservices.log file

If you get slow sync and huge ~/Library/Logs/Sync/syncservices.log file, check that iSync is log logging everything it can.
    In terminal, type :
    defaults read -g SyncServicesLogEverything
if it returns YES, then here is your probem, just turn it off or delete this default :
    defaults delete -g SyncServicesLogEverything

Can you specify the versions of the iPhone OS, Windows XP and iTunes??

  • Is there a log file of my last shutdown?

I wanted to see what the steps are when Arch shuts down on my system.  Is there a log file that records these that I can look at when I next reboot?  Does it also report any shutdown errors?

  • SHADOW_IMPORT_UPG1 is very very slow, no log files are created

    Hi all
We are now doing our production upgrade, during the SHADOW_IMPORT_UPG1 phase system is very slow
no log files are created in the /usr/sap/put/log directory.
only three files are growing in /usr/sap/tmp directory

    Hello,
did you discover what the cause was for this phase running so slow? And  how long did it take to complete in the end?
We are currently running an upgrade of our Development system and have struck the same issue.
I killed the upgrade after the phase had been running for 4 hours and restarted it, but it looks like it is still going to run for a long time.
    Regards....John

  • On RAID 10 - How to relieve Log Writer Slow Write Time Trace Files

We have a DELL 8 CPU 5460 3.16Ghz Xeon with Dell Open Manage RAID 10 array
Oracle 10g 10.2.0.4 on RedHat EL 5 with
    filesystemio_options='' (DEFAULT)
    disk_asynch_io='TRUE' ( NOT DEFAULT)
Running 2 instances 64 bit 10g 10.2.0.4 with an app that does a lot of row updates and uses BLOBs heavily.
Our storage (RAID 10) is presented through a single mount point.
I periodically see these messages in a lgwr trc file as follows
Warning: log write time 560ms, size 5549KB
    *** 2010-02-25 17:22:24.574
Warning: log write time 650ms, size 6759KB
    *** 2010-02-25 17:22:25.103
Warning: log write time 510ms, size 73KB
    *** 2010-02-25 20:33:00.015
Warning: log write time 540ms, size 318KB
    *** 2010-02-25 20:35:17.956
Warning: log write time 800ms, size 5KB
Note that most of these are larger chunks of data.
Our log wait histogram is as follows:
    106 log file parallel write 1 465780158
    106 log file parallel write 2 5111874
    106 log file parallel write 4 5957262
    106 log file parallel write 8 2171240
    106 log file parallel write 16 1576186
    106 log file parallel write 32 1129199
    106 log file parallel write 64 852217
    106 log file parallel write 128 2092462
    106 log file parallel write 256 508494
    106 log file parallel write 512 109449
    106 log file parallel write 1024 55441
    106 log file parallel write 2048 11403
    106 log file parallel write 4096 1197
    106 log file parallel write 8192 29
    106 log file parallel write 16384 5
In discussions with the group that builds and maintains the systems (DBA's do not) we have asked for more spindles / hba's / mount points to address this issue. We have been advised that since the RAID 10 spreads the I/Os across multiple drives this is not going to affect the situation.
Our thoughts are that multiple HBAs going to separate RAID 10 devices would help relieve the pressure.
    Thank you.

Is this an internal RAID array? Is it composed of SCSI (SAS) or SATA drives? How many drives are in the array?
Does the RAID controller have a built in battery backed cache (some of Dell's RAID controllers have 128MB, 256MB, or 512MB of battery backed cache). If the RAID controller has a battery backed cache, consider disabling the caching of all read operations, and set the write policy to write-back (see: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/software/svradmin/5.1/en/omss_ug/html/cntrls.html ).
