Slow Shutdown on all Linux kernels but not on Linux-lts kernel

Been having this problem since the beginning of my Linux experience with Arch.
This is my uname -r output:
3.8.6-1-ARCH
This problem only happens on Linux main kernel, and never happen in Linux-lts kernel. Tried using the method mentioned in the wiki to produce a shutdown log and this is what I got:

The problem is the log doesn't even print the error report as you can see it. The delay is not shown in the console either, it was just like:
[ 10.0000] Power Down....
and my laptop was halting there for like 30-40 seconds before completely shutdown.

My current hypotheses is the acpi_cpufreq that make this problem happens because when I booted into the lts kernel that module is not even loaded. But I can't even blacklist it because even if I make a modprobe.conf to disable it from loading it still be loaded automatically by the kernel. Any help here will be greatly appreciated, I'm not a "just post any problem before trying myself" person. I've tried every method by reading wikis and forums without any success, this is even my first post here . But this problem has been troubling me for a very long time. So please help me guys
Tell me what information do I miss and I'll post it immediately.

Did a fresh install and still having the same problem. Giving up now. Mod can now close this thread

  • Embedded youtube videos load on all other browsers but not Firefox

I have embedded youtube videos into a website...
They work on ALL OTHER BROWSERS but not on Mozilla Firefox.
    I have tried:
    1. Clearing cache & cookies and using Safe Mode.
    2. 18 different computers running Windows 7, Windows 8, Mac OSX, Linux Ubuntu 12.10 and Fedora 16.
    3. Using old embed code instead of iframe.

I have a php module which runs fine in Firefox and all other browsers but not Safari. It always run twice - I see a small ? in upper right corner which is causing it to run twice but NO idea why? I read it MAY have something to do with am image it cannot load but I see them all loaded.  Help - thank you

Could you share a link to the page?
Seeing it in context and in our browsers is much easier to debug.
If not, make sure to run the validator here The W3C Markup Validation Service and clear out any problems. HTML errors, especially structural ones, will cause all kinds of display problems in various browsers/versions/platforms.

Did you follow the instructions here:

Pay attention to differences in power connection depending on whether or not you have AppleTV2 or AppleTV 3.
Also some microUSB leads don't seem to work - try another if you can. Disconnect superfluous USB device/hubs too if possible.

i am not able to hear any sounds of games on the speaker. Though the sounds function on the head fones. The speaker works perfect in other applications except games.Have checked all the settings but not able to fix it.

Have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the iPod and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound. Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and its the icon; press home again to exit the taskbar. The function that isn't on the side switch is set via the taskbar instead : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4085
If that doesn't solve it then try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

    Try quitting the App Store:
Tap the home button to get to the home screen. Then double tap the home button, and hold your finger over the App Store icon. Tap the red when it appears. Tap the home button again to return to the home screen.
    Try resetting:
Hold the home and power buttons at the same time until the Apple boot logo appears. No data will be lost.

why is the ios6 compatible for all the iphones but not all the phones got the all upgrades, for example the panorama camera?? this is another reason I am starting to dislike apple. An ipod is able to us an upgrade but not all the phones are? makes sense

"why is the ios6 compatible for all the iphones"
Ios 6 is not available for all iphones. Original Iphone and iphone 3 are not supported.
"but not all the phones got the all upgrades, "
This is common for most any device/computer.  Not all iphone/computer/device models can handle all of the new features.  Like any device, hardware is limited and cannot always support all new features and software.

Can anyone please suggest what I can do to be able to process the weatherunderground URL?
    Claude

To me it would suggest a bug in the VM that you are using.
    Solutions
    1. Use a different VM
    2. Write your own code to process the http code. Depending on licensing for the VM in use and the VM itself. you might be
able to find the bug in that code, fix it yourself, and then use your fix (start up command line options for VM.) Otherwise
you have to duplicate the functionality. You might look to jakarta commons, there might be code there that does that.

  • Slow web page loads on Mac, but not for PC

I use a D-Link wireless router (DI-524) for my PowerBook G4 15" and my roommate's Dell PC. Very recently I seem to get very slow web page loads with some pages not even loading at all.
Airport is consistently connected with no drops at all and when I'm downloading something it never gets interrupted the whole way through.
My roommate's PC has no problem whatsoever and all of the web pages that he visits load instantly. It seems that my main problem is with web pages.
I've tried doing a clean install on my Powerbook, I've tried resetting the router (I've tried upgrading the firmware but the router decided it didn't want to work with the new version). And surprisingly, I get the same slow speeds when I hook up my Powerbook to my router via ethernet cable. The only time my speeds are perfectly fine is when I hook up my Powerbook directly to the wall (I dorm in a university so we have a T3 line).
Can someone please give me some advice on this very frustrating issue?

In addition to Neds suggestions, empty the Safari cache (which should be empty after a clean install).
Goto the Safari Get Info screen (in Finder or in Dock if you have Safari there), click the triangle on languages, and disable those you don't use.
My Safari response time was significantly slowed after the 10.4.5 update, and using the combo updater took care of that. The 10.4.6 combo update is located here.

  • Simple Custom Identity Service running on windows OK, but not on linux, y?

    In <Oracle® BPEL Process Manager Developer's Guide 10g Release 2 (10.1.2)
    B14448-03>,
Part III, 16<Oracle BPEL Process Manager Workflow
Services, Identity Service, Creating a Custom Identity Service Plug-in>
    My pc, OS:windows 2003+BPEL PM Server10.1.2
Server, OS:linux+ias+OC4J_BPEL, i can't make sure the version, may be:10.1.2
    In the Developer's Guide say:
    Identity Service has 3 provider:
    1, JAZN Provider
    2,Third-party LDAP Directories
    3,CUSTOM Repository LDAP-Based Plug-ins
so i like the third one.
    1, i compile the project in Oracle_Home\integration\orabpel\samples\hw\isplugin\db.
Then it create a jar file(IS-DBPlugin.jar) in Oracle_Home\integration\orabpel\system\services\lib
2,Modify the provider config file: is_config.xml
    modify the config file: application.xml
    restart the Oracle BPEL server
3,run the sql files it provider int the polsql.cmd
OK, now the Identity Service work on Oracle lite database, it's my needs.
add a user into the tables
    use the url:http://localhost:9700/integration/worklistapp/Login
i can login the worklist service use my custom user and password.
when the Identity Service use the JAZN Provider(XML), it's default choice.i add a user into the xml files, i mast restart my server if i want use the user login.
use the database plugin, when i insert a user name into the tables,i can login the service use the username immediately.
So i think it's easy to move it to my server(linux os). but when i copy the jar file to the folder, modify the config files, run ths sql files in the oracle database.
but when i open the url :http://server_ip:port/integration/worklistapp/Login
it can not work with a simple error message:Worklist service Identity Service error.
in the log files i find some message like this :
    SOAP-ENV:Server.Exception
BPEL-10551 can not load the Custom Identity Service Class:
    "IdentityServiceCustomPlugin.CustomIdentityService"
it has wasted me one week time. and i can't find the reason now.
    who can help me ?
    thanks
    cnboy

    clemens,thanks.
i'm sorry that my English is poor.so i can't understand you mean completely.
you say it might be a linux jvm reason, can the metter be resolved?

  • I can use iMessage with all iPhone uses except for ONE person.  That person can use iMessage with all other users, but not with ME.  What's the problem???

I can use iMessage with all other iPhone users that I communicate with, except for ONE person.  When I send to that person, it always goes through as a text message.  This person can use iMessage with pther people, but when they send me a message, it always goes as a text.  Why can we both communicate with other people using iMessage, but not with one another?

    Hi Russell,
    1) If you have OD set up and "editor" has UID 1111, then when they log in to any machine that's bound to OD as editor, they will get UID 1111. Therefore, there won't be any of these permission errors. This is typically the recommended approach.
    2) I assume you mean "You'd prefer to not using open directory?" Whatever the case, OD isn't mandatory with Xsan -- it's just that with multiple user accounts, managing them centrally tends to be easier. For 3 or 4 accounts and 3 or 4 machines maybe it's no big deal. If you go larger, it could get a lot more complicated. That said, if you set it up such that each machine has the exact same set of users (as you said, Mary = UID 502, Fred = UID 503, William = UID 504), then you can do what you want. Mary can log in from multiple machines at the same time, and in general you won't have permissions problems. Of course, if you try and read and write the same file from multiple workstations at the same time, you will get file locking issues, which will prohibit somebody from successfully writing the file.
File locking issues are different from general permissions errors. The former basically says "hey, someone else is editing this file. Therefore I won't let you edit it right now... you can read it if you want though." Permissions means somebody saves it, and Xsan thinks you saved it and own the file, when you really don't.

Restore your catalog from a backup of your catalog which was made before you did this.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions, RipapArt!
Any ideas why this has suddenly happened...
Possibly a corrupted file. If you have not already done so, you might considered booting you computer from the Tiger Install disk, holding down the "c" key. Select your language and then from the Utilities menu, select Disk Utility.
In the left pane of Disk Utility, click on your hard disk. In the right pane, click the First Aid tab and then near the bottom click Repair Disk. If any errors are found, it will try to repair them. Re-run repair disk until it reports zero errors. Then click Repair Permissions. Afterwards, reboot the computer normally. Launch Disk Utility from the Utilities folder and Repair Permissions.
Launch a browser to see if you can get online. If the problem persists, launch System Preferences and then Network. Click Assist me and use the Assistant to create a new location and follow the prompts.
