Slow slow bt-hub3 download speed

Hello there I have just changed providers yesterday (17th feb) from AOL to BT. Now I thought the download speed from AOL was poor (60-70 kbs) but now I'm getting 13-17 kbs which is pitiful. I spoke to some guy from India (why can't we have local help?) and he told me that because I have just joined bt my speed....will be like this for 10 days. Why is this so? When I was with AOL I was getting 60-70 kbs which I thought was bad but this is a joke. Anyway, can someone on here please help? Thanks Paul

Here is your estimated final speed in red shown below.
This could take up to 10 days to acheive, as the line is being monitored for that period. As you have only been connected for four hours, there is a long way to go yet.
It is very important that you leave your home  switched on and connected up to your phone line for at least the 10 days.
The speed should slowly improve during that period.
Do not restart the hub during that period.

  • WRT150N Slow Win 7 Download Speed

My new Windows 7 desktop and laptop both have slow download speed over wireless, about 1mbps, hard wired they both run about 10mbps.  Upload they go 3mbps.  My 2 yr old Vista laptop can consistently get 10mbps wireless download.
I took the windows 7 laptop to Best Buy and they were able to run 7 mbps download.
I have played with all my Wireless Router settings based on searches I have performed here without success.  I'm guessing the WRT150N can't support something going on with Windows 7.
Anybody have a solution for this?
    Thanks

I had same prob.  Found this and it worked for me.  the only thing I changed were the transmission rate speeds under the advanced setting.  Mine only had 130 Mbps for the wirless N setting not 162 mbps, but it worked for me.  I hope it works for you.  I have been messing with this prob for weeks now.  Such a relief!!
Finally I have some success to write about.
After a few months of fiddling with settings and being very frustrated, I think I finally have hit upon something that appears to be working....for me, at least.
Yesterday, I talked with Linksys Support via LiveChat. They recommended that for the WRT150N router---on the Advanced Wireless Settings Tab, that I change the DTIM to 3, and the RTS Threshold and Fragementation settings to 2304.......and also change (RTS and Frag) them on the wireless card (WPC300N).
So, I did that and didn't notice any real improvement. My wireless reception--while the card says 'Excellent'--had speeds varying from 1Mbps to 216Mpbs...seemingly at random intervals.....no rhyme or reason.
Then I came across an obscure thread in some forum while Googling this topic. It recommended that you change your 'N Transmission Rate' to 162Mbps. Mine had been on AUTO, as was the regular 'Transmission Rate' for the "G" laptops on my network.
So I promptly changed both of those settings from AUTO to 54Mbps and 162Mbps respectively......and BINGO.....since I have done that, my speed from the card hasn't dropped lower than 108Mbps. It stays around 243Mbps and often will stay at 270Mbps when I am streaming something.
Don't know how long this will last, but its been the best 12 hours since I purchased the WRT150N and the WPC300N.
Hope this helps anyone else out there!
    Sincerely,
    Stan

  • Suspected Malware slowing computer and Download speed?

I've done a little research and found out that certain malware on macs can be obtained through certain downloading sites. My computer is becoming slower and slower and download speed is being affected by something ( tested speed 2.3MB/s but the speed im getting is 40-100Kb/s ) both of which seem to be traits of malware or other viruses? Download speeds used to be higher and are still high other macs on the same connection. Ive tried downloading and running BitDeffender Virus Scanner and it found 4 problems, 2 of which where deleted, 1 quarantined and the last roams my computer free, but nothing improved anyway. Is my iMac infected, if so how to i remove the infection?
( its only 5 months old and is running 10.10.1 if that helps)

Please provide an EtreCheck report of your computer. However the first thing I will tell you is to uninstall (following the developers instructions) any antivirus, cleaning or other third party maintenance applications. Not only are these 100% useless some (most antivirus apps) tend to create more problems than they solve. There are zero viruses for OS X, however there is some malware out there that antivirus will not find. To avoid the small amount of malware out there takes just a small amount of common sense.
    Common sense primer!
NEVER download from a torrent! Next do not fall for any popups, ads, e-mails or phone calls that advise your computer has been compromised. These are SCAMS!!!!!!! Next is do not download anything from a site you do not 100% trust. That's it, it is that simple.
    Finally keep your Mac up-to-date!!!

  • Airport slows down my download speeds

I have an old Airport Express, appr 5-6 yrs. It is slowing my download speeds from 64.5 Mbps to 24 Mbps. Anything I can do?

Insure that there are no physical obstructions between the AirPort Express and your computer.
Temporarily, turn off the cordless phones to see if speeds improve.
The AirPort Express starts heading downhill after about 3 years of operation on average, so your Express may be showing its age.
As a last resort, reset the AirPort back to factory default settings and set it up again.

  • Are other people's sites suffering from slow  .Mac (IWeb) download speeds?

    Here is the site:
    http://web.mac.com/laneos/iWeb/The%20Triad%20Institute/Triad%20Home.html
Several people have remarked on the slow download speeds, especially the top links on pages other than the homepage.
Please send reactions/advice on how this can be remedied. Thanks!

I don't think .Mac is the problem. The problem is that Apple chose to use the PNG format for all graphics on your page, instead of the standard web graphic format: JPEG. This means that images, such as your rollover links in the top navigation (these are graphics, not text) are much, much larger than they need to be as far as file size. Anyone accessing your site on dialup or other narrowband connection is going to find your site takes a long, long time to load. Every graphic on your pages is being converted to PNG, which is an uncompressed format. There is NOTHING you can do about this at the moment, except Complain to Apple using this Feedback Form.
Don't just complain on this forum, because Apple doesn't officially monitor or respond to user's posts here. But they do promised to read the feedback you provide on the aforementioned form.
This issue of large files and slow download speeds caused me to totally abandon iWeb one week after I bought and started using it. My wife created a beautiful family site, but I pulled it down after testing on a dialup connection. It totally choked the browser--just on a simple home page. A friend waited 8 minutes for the home page to load, and then gave up. I'm just not prepared to anger my visitors to that extent.

  • Why does my mac slow down my download speed?

    Hello,
I just bought my macbook pro(retina) and downloaded mozilla firefox ,but it shows that the download speed is 40 KB/s (it should be 140-160 KB/s) any1 can help me?

Yes, i know that but when i download the same thing from the exact same server from my PC the DL speed is 140-160 KB/s (the speed it should be.

  • Slow file server download speeds

I have a Mac OS X 10.3 Server on my local network, which is primarily used as a file server.
My MacBook, running 10.6.7, using AirPort Extreme, is painfully slow and downloading files from this file server. Right now, it is estimating 14 hours to download a 400 MB file. The computer itself is only a few feet from the Airport base station.
    Other clues:
    1) All other Airport services seem normal (internet access, internet downloading) for this computer; so I don't see how it can be the Airport itself.
    2) Uploading files to this file server seem to be running at normal speeds.
    3) Downloading from other computers (running 10.5.8) from the file server are normal speeds, so I would think that would rule out the file server itself.
    4) Activity Monitor shows only around 8 - 17 KB per second transfer
I believe that this problem started after the last OS update. Or security update, whichever it was.

Just wanted to post that I solved the problem.
It had to do with using the Motorola MSTATEA 2210-02-1022 DSL Modem/Router that we received from AT&T to do our Routing instead of the Time Capsule we had on our network.  I thought the Motorola DSL Modem/Router would do a better job of routing and was WRONG.
Once I put the Motorola DSL Motem/Router into "bridge mode" and set up the Time Capsule to be the router for the network, the problem went away.
So the Motorola DSL Modem/Router could not handle even the low traffic of our few computer network without screwing up the wireless traffic.

  • Why is my 4g Internet running so slow? My download speed is 22.0 mb/s and upload speed is 18.0 mb/s. I ran a test to find that out. Idk if that's slower than what it's supposed to read out at but it's taking forever to watch videos online. Help?

My Internet on my iPhone 4S w/ 4g started running slow a month or 2 ago and has t changed since. It takes several minutes just to buffer short online vids and way longer if its over 2-3 minutes. Pages are loading slow. Downloading aps is a nightmare too. Any thing I can do to improve speed on it? I've only had the phone for 6 months or so.

One thing I've noticed is that a shared tab pops up when I open the finder under "favorites" with a random connection. It's called hp68b... None of my friends that I live with have this and we all use the same internet. Two days ago when I would click it and click get info, it said it was a pc. When I checked it today it said it is a "sharepoint" and looks like a harddrive.
I took it too the store after i spilt water on it but when I got it back it ran perfectly fine. I don't know a lot about computer so if somebody could help me. It says I'm connected to it and I can't disconnect or delete it. I don't know if the guy at the computer store put something in my computer and is sharing all my files.

  • How does cloud work out in the australian country where I have very slow upload and download speeds and have unreliable connections?

I really just cant get my head around how cloud works when I have such low access to internet downloads..

Under these conditions no service which relies on using a fair amount of bandwidth is going to work. In your situation you may be able to handle a moderate amount of email, calaendars and contacts, though it will be slow to load; but heavy uploading and downloading of for example images in Photo Stream is likely to take so long as to be impracticable.

    PSN Slow download speeds
We are aware of reports that some users are experiencing slower then usual download speeds from the PlayStation Store.
This has been reported to our network team for investigation. Please keep an eye on this thread for updates.

Hi Willium, Don't feel alone with this issue. I am in South African as well. I have the best download speed available on telkom. However the problem is most definitely the PSN network, Steam works like a bomb on my side as do other sites from which I download, not problems any time of the day or night. PSN.....well thats another story!!!! The best advise I can offer is the following, don't go wireless, rather move your ps3 close to your router and get a wired connection going, only download from about 22:00 in the evening onwards, the speed goes up MASSIVELY in the evening. If you going to do a wireless or wired connection during the day, it does literally take about 3 hours to download a 30meg file. I also made the mistake of downloading Unfinished Swan yesterday, I started the download at about 09:00 it finished at about 16:00, and the kicker.....it was a corrupted download. I then restarted the download at about 22:00 and it took about 2hours. Also any sort of patching of games or updates, for example at the moment I am trying to get the latest dlc patch for borderlands.....just forget about it....it gives me error messages after it reachs about 30-40% completion...each time...I tried about 4 times...no luck. From what I can see....it would appear that since this is a new dlc or patch...perhaps PSN is dcing connections from certain areas...or giving preference to others over certain IP addresses, unless the activity is quieter...such as in the late evening. I have no idea actually...just seems to be in PSN court to me since it is only prevalent from their network. I don't know if you use Steam as well...but the fantastic thing with them is that should your file become corrupted....you don't have to redownload the entire install file...you simply click for it to verify the file...it takes literally a few seconds...it then locates the corrupted files and fixes them!!!! This is just a fantastic service and you know they are taking their customers bandwidth usage seriously.  PSN.....I truly hope you read this. Rather put some man power and time into a benefical service like this...than window dressing the store front. Talking about Store front changes...its the 18th here in SA and the store still looks the same to me???
The problem is certainly your set-up or ISP traffic shaping. A file of 30MB never take's no more 30 to 60 second's for me regardless what time of day it is.  Thing's you could try is opening the ports PSN use's on your router or set-up a DMZ. http://community.eu.playstation.com/t5/PlayStation-Network-Technical/Port-Numbers-which-do-I-need-to-open-for-the-PlayStation-and-how/td-p/13390392 http://community.eu.playstation.com/t5/PlayStation-Network-General/How-to-put-your-PS3-into-a-DMZ/td-p/10655314 If you can use a wired connection or alternatively invest in a pair of homeplugs wireless will always be slower.

  • E2000 Dividing Download Speed by 2

Have an E2000 that for some reason seems to slow down the download speed from Comcast by a factor or about 2. It does not effect the upload speed. Cycling the power to the router restores the upload to Comcast Performance or about 25MB/S.

  • WRT310N Playstation 3 Slow Download speed and general lag

Hey guys, I just recently bought the WRT310N and got both of my computers working with it. One is wired directly into the router, while the other is running off wireless. My Playstation 3 is able to connect to the router but I am getting an extremely slow connection speed.
Right now, both PC's get about 6.4-6.5 Mbps download speed while my Playstation is anywhere from 600 Kbs to 1.2 Mbps. I have plugged in my Playstation 3 directly into the modem and got a speed of 3.2 Mbps and was downloaded a demo very fast, but I do not recieve anywhere near those results when using it wireless.
Any advice? I have tried opening the ports, but that only seemed to slow it down. A couple of days ago I opened the ports specific to the game NHL 10 and for two days I was getting such a good speed in the game that it felt like I was playing offline, which was great! Then this morning, it just seemed do a complete 180. Now when I play the game I get an extreme amount of lag, and my other games like CoD4 get random lag spikes. Like, I'll be running and I get a lag spike which seems to happen fairly consistently every minute or so.
Any advice? Should I try opening the ports again or what?

I think you need to adjust the wireless settings of your Router, The wireless settings on your Router must have been setup to its default that's the reason you are receiving low signal strength on your PS3.
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...Leave Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
For Wireless Settings, please do the following : -
    Click on the Wireless tab
    - Here select manual configuration...Wireless Network mode should be mixed...
    - Provide a unique name in the Wireless Network Name (SSID) box in order to differentiate your network from your neighbours network...
    - Set the Radio Band to Standard-20MHz and change the Standard channel to 11-2.462GHz...Wireless SSID broadcast should be Enabled and then click on Save Settings...
Please make a note of Wireless Network Name (SSID) as this is the Network Identifier...
    For Wireless Security : -
Click on the Sub tab under Wireless > Wireless Security...
Change the Wireless security mode to WPA, For Encryption, select TKIP...For Passphrase input your desired WPA Key. For example , MySecretKey , This will serve as your network key whenever you connect to your wireless network. Do NOT give this key to anyone and remember the key.
NOTE : Passphrase should be more that 8 characters...
    Click on Advanced Wireless Settings
Change the Beacon Interval to 75 >>Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304, Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 >>Click on "Save Settings"...
Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect...

Even the 'respected' tools like Onyx, if you look at what (each and every update) states in the "what is new" and changes will be to improve compatibility.
Never use or install anything (and I include OS X updates in that category) without cloning your system and having TimeMachine that is current, and backup(s) that will be off line.
Some cannot be trashed or deleted or removed without using an "uninstall app" or the installer, doing so without can mean having to reinstall first.
Or wipe the drive and restore from a known good backup set.

  • More Than One Computer Trying to Access Web = Very Slow Download Speeds?

We have Verizon DSL with a basic Westell modem, which supposedly is only a modem with no router capabilities. We have an Airport Extreme Snow Base Station that acts as a WDS Main, with one other AEB Snow as a WDS Remote. All computers have unique ip addresses in the 10.0.1.X range as provided by the WDS Main's DHCP.
When only one computer connects to the internet to download web pages, software updates, etc., there seems to be no problem at all. When I do a speed check I get results that seem to be in the correct range, and it doesn't matter which computer I use for the test.
However, if we try to access the internet with more than one computer at the same time, everything slows to a crawl. Such as, if one computer is downloading software updates, the other CPUs have super slow web page downloads, slow to the point of connection time-outs at times. Or if two of the computers are simply trying to download web pages at the same time, one or the other has super slow downloads.
I feel like there is some kind of routing problem with the Base Station but for the life of me I cannot figure it out.
What could the problem be? Where could it originate, and what, if any, advice could someone give me to help trace the problem?
    Thanks in advance.

... the one computer I am looking at right now shows DNS servers as 10.0.1.1, which is the internal ip address of the AEB. Could this be part of the problem?
That is normal and shouldn't cause a problem. Essentially it tells the computer to ask the snow AirPort base station (ABS) for DNS information. The ABS will then provide the DNS information which it currently received from the ISP.
Would it help if I manually entered the DNS numbers that appear on the AEB on each machine's Network Preferences?
Probably not. A busy DNS server or faulty DNS info won't affect download speeds. That only affects browsing since that requires the computer to convert human readable addresses to numbers that the computer can use.
Remember that the snow ABS only operates at 802.11b (11 Mbps) speeds. Then when you use WDS it cuts your available wireless bandwidth in half.
