Anyways i had infinity finally installed last friday, engineer turned up on time and said he had already dont the cabinet connections, came into the house put new plate on pluged in the HH5 checked the connection and said that was it up and running and everything was fine. At that point i didnt have alot of time but later on i ran a speed test, fastest i managed was 25 down and 9 up,
Download speedachieved during the test was - 25 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 54.26 Mbps-67.82 Mbps .
 Additional Information:
IP Profile for your line is - 67.82 Mbps
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 8.75Mbps
 Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 20 Mbps
also my profile is now at 67 down where as before the origionall engineer screwed things up it was at 74 down. any ideas..

  • Slow speeds on new BT Service in comparison with o...

    Hi all
I would love some help with this problem: I transferred by Sky package over to BT on 5 October and have seen a deterioration in speed since. I have called the Indian call centre several times and today, after I tried out a new BT Home Hub 2 they sent me, I'm at wits' end! The problem, needless to say, is consistently there.
For the record, I have made sure I've followed your forum's excellent help regarding improving slow speeds. I have ensured all my phone sockets are fitted with working ADSL filters. The Homehub has been moved around the room to several locations, all proving the interference I'm getting is not affected by location at home. My main socket for the hub is fitted with an Accelerator (which did make a slight improvement initially). However, the speeds I was enjoying prior to BT have diminished so far that it seems illogical that the problem exists at my end.
I have a BT Vision box too which works fine through the Comtrend ethernet / wireless sockets provided by BT. Turning these off has no effect on the speed. I bought a hub phone which works fine too.
Here are some stats from TBB's speed test. I performed a BT Speed test earlier and the results are consistently similar. I would have posted the BT results, but they reset before I could do so. Time pressures being what they are, I have to leave in a moment so I cannot wait another hour or so to repeat! 16/02/10 was Sky. Again, everything later than 05/10/10 is BT's.

  • Slow speed after new contract

In the last 6 years i have taken 4 new contracts with BT after being offered a better deal on every occassion my speed has dropped from around 3 meg to less than 250 kb/s each time im met with the same requests when i call to plug my laptop in to the Ethernet and turn all other equipment off etc etc. eventually someone sorts the problem and im back to 3Meg again, I ve just spent an hr on the phone to india (4 different people) telling me there is no problem. Does anyone know what is happening, I have a feeling there is some sort of default setting which automatically resets when you sign up which restricts the line ! we are in a rural location and the exchange is quite a distance away. When i came here 7 yrs ago i was told we would never get more than half a meg, However i called so much they finally changed the contact connections and we rocketed to 3 meg. However many times i say to the sales staff please dont change anything and explain what has happened the speed drops the very next day !!!!! NO MORE NEW CONTRACTS FOR ME !!!! can anyone help please

welcome to the BT community forum where customers help customers and only BT employees are the forum mods
in order for the forum members to help please can you post the adsl stats from your router (unless HH4/5) may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or use a-z, if netgear enter 192.168.0.1) and run  btspeedtester  (MAC users may have problems). when first test completes then run diagnostic test and post the results ( do not reset the router).
are you connected directly via a filter to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Is the master the only phone socket in your home?
Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal
Someone may then be able to offer help/assistance/suggestions to your problem

  • Slow speed after new dropline fitted.......Possibl...

    Hello all,
I have had a new dropline fitted to cure a worsening crackle on my line (particularly when it was raining), however my broadband speed has now dropped to 2mb/s whereas prior to this fault it was running at approx 14mb/s.
    I realise there is a training period, and sure enough my hub rebooted after 4 days and increased my upload speed ip from 400kb/s to 888kb/s, but the download ip stayed at 2mb/s. After a day it rebooted again at about 5 in the morning but with no improvement in my ip's. My current hub status is;

  • Slow speed on new connection

Hi, we have recently upgraded our broadband and at first we were getting about 10mbps and in the last few days the connection speed (mainly download) has fallen significatly. We are now down to 0.09mbps download and 0.3mbps upload (upload is more or less the same as before). Any ideas why this could be?

  • I'm wondering if anyone else has had problems with their imac fans being extremely loud when running at slow speeds?  When the computer heats up enough for the fans to run at higher speeds they quiet down. New HD fan was just installed.

I have an imac that I've had for a couple years.  The fans have always been loud when running at the slower speeds.  When the computer heats up enough for the fans to run at a higher speed the fans quiet down.  I had installed SMC fan control after multiple attempts with Apple to get the fan issue resolved.  That seemed to keep the fans quiet enough.  I've never had a problem with overheating.  Recently the fans were becoming loud again even running at the slightly higher speeds so I took it to my local Apple store and they replaced the hard drive fan.  I got it back and it's now as loud or louder than ever!!  And, now SMC fan control won't "stick."  The fans will speed up, but then gradually go back to the lower "loud" levels.  I'm at a loss as to what to do next.

    Thanks jared,
I'm still dealing with this issue through Apple. Some time after I posted this, I contacted Apple again. They did start a case up for me, as I was experiencing the same behavior on two different machines, with two different versions of Windows.
So far it remains unsolved. I've logged iClouds for Windows on my desktop, which is brand new, then logged for awhile after completely uninstalling Norton Security Suite, depending on the Microsoft security for some time, and finally logged after I uninstalled iCloud for Windows, restarted, installed a clean download, and connected using a completely different test account, which Apple set up for me. None of this made any difference. Looking at the logs, it seems every 10 minutes, iCloudServices.exe creates a new TCP connection to confirm I'm using less than 5GB on iCloud, (which I am by a good margin, using less than 2GB), it seems this connection is not closed, and when the next iteration rolls around 10 minutes later, a new TCP connection is created. I come very close to having 6 TCP connections created per hour, until I restart my computer. This works out to... 6 x 24 = 144/day.
Perhaps the article you posted will shed some further light on this. I'm thinking seeing the state of the connection through netstats, at the least, could help.
For the last week, I've been putting a hold on further logging, as Apple wants me to create a new user account on one of my computers, install iCloud for Windows there, and log it running in the other account. This however basically means I cannot use my computer for a fair number of hours, and I've been busy enough with work the past week that I haven't the time or energy to afford to set this up and run it. I've had need of my computers too much for the past week.

  • New Contract -- Very Slow Speeds--900kbps

Hi Everyone, i am glad to find a community service like this.
I have been a BT Broadband customer since the start, BT has always been a good reliable service.  For approx two years I had the unlimited 8meg service that included a mobile phone.  BT Anywhere.  I phoned BT to cancel the mobile phone, during the call I was told i was paying too much for my service and if i signed up to Option 3 up to 20 meg BB i could save £20 I Did, I was promised no changes to my speed. This new contract started on the 31 Aug. No problems until last week.
On my old 8meg contract i could guarantee speeds of 2500-3000kbps during the day and 5000kbps after 12am. The last 5 days all I can get is 900kbps, at any time, trying multiple routers etc .... I am not sure if this change is tied into my contract.  I normally use a Netgear DG router which reports a downstream of 5000+.  To show stats and to test i am using my HomeHub.  Any suggestion/help what has caused the slow speed all of a sudden would be greatly appreciated.
I phoned Customer Service...and to be honest i did not get an answer just unplug this ..unplug that ..etc no changes. An engineer was booked for next month, not sure what they will do.
    Thanks

  • Slow wifi speed with new linksys ac1200+

I just bought a new linksys ac1200+ today and set it up. I can get 60 down when connected with ethernet but only 20 down with wifi. my old router could give me 25 down. does any one now how to solve this? there is no other signals blocking it.

Is the FW up to date?
To safely update FW, I recommend doing the following: Download the FW file from the support site first.
Disable the auto update feature on the router.
    1. Save router config to file first using IE or FF with all security add-ons disabled.
    2. Factory reset the router with all other devices disconnected or turned OFF accept for 1 wired PC.
    3. Reload or Update the FW using IE or FF. Just download the FW file to your local wired LAN PC.
    4. Factory reset the router and then set up from scratch first and test with out loading the saved config from file. Check to see if any problems are fixed before loading the saved config from file. Sometimes you need to set up from scratch with out loading the saved config file. Just safer that way.

    Router Placement
Forum User - "Well I feel really dumb. After moving the router away from other electronic devices my speeds are back to normal. Just a heads up for anyone experiencing slow speeds, you might want to move it away from other electronics and see if that helps."
3-6' feet minimum safe distance between devices.
Placement on main level floor and central in the building and WELL ventilated is preferred. Not in basements or closets as building materials, or near by electronics devices could interfere or hinder good signal propagation.

  • VI running very slow in a new PC

    Hello,
I recently changed my development PC, and one of my VIs is running much slower in my new PC. This is strange since the new PC is a bit better. In this PC I have an Intel i5 4210M 2.5GHz CPU, 8Gb of RAM and a disk with 7200RPM and 16MB of cache. The PC I was using before had an older intel i5 3210M CPU, 4GB of RAM and a 5400RPM disk.
In the current project I'm working I'm monitoring some production lines. I'm using Labview 2013 and the DSC module's OPC server to connect to the PLCs on the production line.
In the VI that is slower in the new PC I'm reading about 50 shared variables from the OPC server, I'm registering some data in a MySQL database, datalogging data on the Citadel database and registering alarms. On my older PC each iteration on this VI was taking about 1 second and now is taking more than 10 seconds.
I've noticed that when I run that VI the disk usage gets very high (constantly over 90%), but it's strange if the disk is causing this problem since it is better than the one I had on the older PC. The CPU usage is low (arround 5%) and the memory usage stays arround 30-35%.
Does anyone have any idea what could be happening? I'm getting very frustrated with this problem since the PC is brand new and I wasn't expecting to have a problem like this.

With windows 7 I was having the same problem. I installed windows 8.1 because since I was having some problems with drivers compatibility on windows 7 and I tought that maybe this problem in the execution speed could also be caused by that. But on windows 8.1 there was only a slight improvement - it took close to 20 seconds to execute now it takes 15 seconds, but still not the performance I was having on the previous PC (arround 1 second).
Today I brought both PCs and I'm trying to understand what's different. I've noticed on the windows resource monitor that the write speed on my new PC's disk are lot slower when the VI is running. The disk load goes up to 100% but the write speed seems to be limited to 1MB/s. As for the older PC the disk load stays lower (arround 30-40%) and the write speeds goes up to 5MB/s. I've also ran perfmon but I didn't noticed major differences between when I was running that VI and when I wasn't. I've attached some screenshots from the resource monitor of both PCs. The screenshot that is in portuguese is from the older PC but the fields are in the same positions as in the english version.
So I'm thinking that this must be some problem on my disk confgurations something must be limiting my disk speed to 1MB/s. But when I transfer files on the PC it doesn't seem to have that problem. I only noticed it on that VI...

  • K9N2 Sli Platinum + SSD OCZ Vertex 3 = Slow Speed Problem [PARTIALLY SOLVED]

    Hey folks,
I have a problem with my new SSD. I only get sequential reads of 140MB/s and writes of 114MB/s.
I think it is a driver related issue. I once got faster SATA2-like speeds but cannot reproduce the system settings again... Everything back to SATA1-like speeds after reboot.
    First my pc specs:
MSI K9N2 Sli Platinum, BIOS v3.9
    - 6 SATAII ports by nForce 750a SLI
    - 2 ESATA (External-SATA) ports (back panel) by JMB363
    - Supports storage and data transfers at up to 3 Gb/s
    AMD Phenom II 965 Black
    Patriot PV224G8500ELKB Viper II Series DDR2 4GB (2 x 2GB, CL5 PC-8500/1066MHz)
SSD SATAIII OCZ Vertex 3, 120GB, FW v2.11
    LG Internal BlueRay BH10LS30
    Windows 7 Ultimate x64
I only get very slow speeds with the SSD. I tried so many things that I am getting very frustrated now, I am even thinking about getting a new board and ram just to get the SSD up to speed...
    1)
I installed Win7 first with all the default settings in Windows Setup from DVD. Default "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers" driver was "Standard AHCI1.0 Serial ATA Controller".
SSD was connected to SATA1-port,  On-Chip Sata Controller AHCI enabled in BIOS,  Extra RAID/IDE Controller disabled.
All fine, but whichever benchmark I used (AS SSD, HD Tune Pro, Atto Disk Benchmark, CrystalDiskMark; other tools used: DriveControllerInfo, AIDA64/Everest, CrystalDiskInfo ) I got e.g. 140MB/s Read and 114MB/s Write sequentially (CrystalDiskmark, similar with random data AND only zeros ).
Trim working (it seems) with AHCI driver. I also changed to nvstor64 driver (nforce driver setup 15.56), with is marginally faster but not what you would expect from a SATAIII drive on SATAII controller.
    2)
I installed Win7 using "diskpart" (Shift-F10) during disk setup, setting a cluster size of 64k instead of default. No real change.
    3)
After reinstall of Win7 x64 (again...), I changed from SATA1 port to SATA6 port, also enabled Extra Raid/IDE controller set to AHCI as well.
Nothing changed. With all settings to default in Windows (ahci default driver), I then manually updated the ahci to nvstore64 driver in Device Management, rebooted.
Then a minute later after reboot I got the following Sequential speeds with CrystalDiskMark:
273MB/s read and 137MB/s write (random data)  +  274MB/s read and 220MB/s write (with zeros) !!!
While I ran this benchmark Windows came up with a message: "You must restart your computer to apply these changes - Restart Now/Restart Later".
After the previos reboot, when I changed manually from AHCI to NVSTORE, I had changed nothing in the current session, apart from running CrystalDiskMark.
I did reboot and I was back to the slow SSD speeds again = 140/114 MB/s...
    4)
I have tried every possible combination of mainboard SATA ports, drivers changing with nvidia setup/manually, deleting and disabling controllers (incl BSOD and startup repair :D ), chaning bios settings around, but I just cannot get back the faster speeds
There is never any change in speed, whether I use ahci or nvstore64, whichever benchmark I use, whether random or zeros...
    5)
Could the SSD be broken, something internally preventing it from faster speeds (with this one random exception)?
Could it be that my K9N2 SataPorts only allows for / reduced to SATA1 speeds?
Am I missing something with the driver setup?
Do I need additional drivers for the extra JMicron Controller when using SataPorts 5/6 ?
I have no other mainboard to test this with...
Please guys, I am going to jump out of the window if I can't fix it... :(
    Thanks, Mike

    Hey guys - problem 'solved':
I tested the OCZ SSD Vertex 3 120GB with following sata3 controller card http://www.lycom.com.tw/PE-115H.htm.
The card itself works immediately (needs at least PCIe x4 slot, will work slower otherwise but still faster than the OCZ SSD @sata1 with nvidia chipset).
There is some raid setup, doesn't apply to me, the boot even with the card is really only a few seconds longer and not annoying at all. Windows (7 x64) needed a driver, supplied on CD (which is cheap and making noise like h**l). The card works w/o the driver but doesn't harm to install it...
Also, just to clarify, this sata controller card did not need any specific setup at all. Just put it in, plug in sata cable (I use akasa sata3-rated), maybe change boot device in BIOS (I didn't even have to), done - booting Windows as usual.
Benchmark CDM with sata controller card Lycom PE-115H:

    http://img850.imageshack.us/img850/7549/cdmpe115hahcirand.png
Speed is much better than before with nvidia chipset 750a SLI controller: sata1 (sata2 whenever it randomly worked):

    http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/6258/cdmahci0x0sata6contnv64.png
    Final thoughts:
Well, I am happy with the SSD speed now (PCIe limited to 5Gbps). However, I had to spent quite some time to get it working on my sata2-cabable mainboard. Finally, I had to buy a extra controller card to get it working reliably at speeds faster than sata1. There is hardly any useful information on why this problem occurs with (older) nvidia chipsets and OCZ (sata3) SSDs. I still think that OCZ must know about this problem, but regards this issue as low priority, while at the same time not planning on giving up on sales to people with nvidia chipsets. Maybe OCZ should just make a big sticker on the box the drives come in with something like "Does/Might not work with nvidia chipsets, please use third-party sata controller card or different SSD manufacturer".   But then none of these potential customers would buy OCZ SSDs...
I will keep the sata3 controller, anyway handy to have, but return the OCZ Vertex 3 120GB and replace it with a SSD from a different manufacturer (Corsair Force GT, Patriot and OWC are not that great to get around here). The benchmarks for most people will not achieve the maximum advertised OCZ speeds anyway, so why not go with a brand that allows for some plug'n'play with some customer support.
Hope this post helps others like me with their nvidia chipset  + sata1 speed problem
    Cheers, Mike

  • Printing slowed down again upon install of 10.6

When I originally bought my macbook, the printing on my Brother DCP-115C was extremely slow & went at about 1/3 it's usual speed, even on fast printing. After doing software update, though, this cleared up with updated drivers.
Now having installed Snow Leopard, the printing has gone back to it's slow speed again, despite having a newer driver version. There are no new drivers on software update.
I'd prefer to just have the old driver back that I was using before, is there any way to do this?

If there another diagnosis besides CPU process usage? My activity monitor is showing less than 2% CPU usage (and at least the same amount of idle RAM as occurred with Leopard). Yet my fans are running continuously at 6000 rpm which I believe is the top speed. Before, with Leopard, even if the computer got pretty hot the fans only ran about 2000 rpm and even then, not for long.
Isn't it bad for the fans to run flat out all the time? Is there another diagnosis?

  • Slooowww download speeds with new MacBook Air.

I recently replaced my old MacBook from 2007 with a new MacBook Air. Since I've gotten it I've had a series of frustruations. I hadn't even thought to check if it had an ethernet port or a cd drive. Because it has nither I've had to download versions of things I'd generally install via CD. My download speeds seem to be incredibly slow on this new MacBook Air, it took hours to download firefox. I feel like my older MacBook was much faster, I don't understand. I recently did a speed test (I have Comcast) for the MacBook Air and it came up with a 1mbps download speed. Is this an issue with the computer or with my modem (docis 3.0, cable) or router (standard belkin) or with Comcast? I'm pretty frustrutaed.
    Other questions:
I'd love to plug this directly into our cable modem, but I see that I need an adapter.
I'd also love to connect this to my iMac via thunderbolt cable and use use target disc mode to install some stuff.
I'd like to buy a plain thunderbolt cable to have for use with more modern computers, and adapters for use with this older/other stuff. Is there an adapter that lets me attach the thunderbolt cable to an ethernet wire so I can plug directly into the modem? Also, my imac has a firewire 800 port, not a thunderbolt port, so is there a thunderbolt to firewire 800 cable?
What would be the cheapest way of getting these cables and adapters, (links would be very appreciated!)?
    Thanks!

Yes. Take it back for a replacement. Take the computer with you so you can test the new one.

  • Slow speeds on Infinity

    Hi guys,
I am hoping that someone will be able to explain to me my lack of speed with BT Infinity. When this was first installed in November I was enjoying fast internet browsing, downloading and streaming speeds. Using speedtests I was getting approx. 35Mb for download, however this has now diminished to a lowly 0.5Mb or less. I have applied for the new faster BT Infinity from when I first received it and am seeing no different to the speed.
I have a slightly unusual set-up at home in that the BT Home Hub 3 is located in a room downstairs connecting to 3 devices and the 1GB port is connected to a Linksys Router upstairs which is connecting 2 PC's. I am using this set-up at the moment as I cannot afford to purchase a switch, this set-up was working fine before even with my previous broadband provider.
I have tried to set the wireless set-up for dual band and this seemed to cause more problems and have since moved back to single band for the wireless however, I'm still struggling to maintain the speeds that I had back in November.
I set a twitter message to BT and was asked to run their speedtest which indicated I was getting 0Mbps for download and 0.37Mbps for upload and also similar speeds from the thinkbroadband and speedtest websites. I'm now at a loss as to what I need to do in order to get my speeds back up as to what they were originally.
Any help on what I can try will be much appreciated.
    Kind regards,
    Jiten
    Jiten

I no longer have the IP profile for that particular instance, however I have run the test again today and this is the IP profile from the BT speedtest:
IP Profile for your line is - 77.43 Mbps
I seem to still have a slow speed on Infinity even though the IP profile is much higher than what it was when I ran the test earlier.
    Any ideas?

  • Read DVD at a slower speed?

How can I read a DVD as\t slower speeds?
I have a home made DVD which I would like to convert to MP3 (Gospel sermon from my church)
But the guy who made the DVD's for me put a CD label/sticker (like those printable ones -> like this template here ) but the genius didn't place the label to the center of the DVD.. so how when my Macbook Pro read the DVD it seems to be spinning to fast and starts to vibrate (the label is throwing it of balance a bit while it is spinning)  and then I start to get a light noise & vibration from the DVD reader/drive on my laptop

I sucessfully installed Solaris 10 via the installation dvd after reburning it on a lower setting. The OS booted and works wonderfully. When I start my computer, the GRUB loader comes up and I am able to select both my Windows and Solaris operating systems to boot!
Unfortunately, when I select Windows (Vista Home Premium) from GRUB, it loads into Vista's "cannot boot windows!" dialogue. I loaded the Vista install disc and attempted a fixmbr and a system repair, but BOTH said that my filesystem was corrupt! However, I opened up a command prompt and can access not only all files on the windows partition, but can run the dos programs from the command prompt, so the drive is fully intact. Is this normal, and do I have to boot Windows Vista with GRUB in a special manner? Vista uses a different type of bootsector than previous versions, so maybe I need to configure GRUB? I know this is no longer completely a "Solaris Installation" discussion, but my problem arose from Solaris Installation, so help would be appreciated. I don't want to rewrite a second Vista over my lovely new (working!) Solaris partition. :(

  • Extremely slow speeds on EAP-TTLS PAP secured network

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 with a Broadcom 4312 wireless chip and when I connect to my schools network I get speeds that are as low as 100 K/s or slower.
When I go to speedtest.net I get speeds of 10 M/s down. I have tried using both the B43 and wl drivers and I get about the same speed on speed test and still very slow speeds when updating through pacman or downloading files.
I am running the most recent versions of the kernel and all drivers.
Here is the output from lspci:
    0b:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11b/g LP-PHY (rev 01)
If you guys have any ideas of what might help I'm willing to try it, thanks in advance.

Visited the Apple store today and they replaced the phone. They could not explain what was going on except for being a software issue.
They said if after restoring I have the same issue, you would have to restore the phone to new and re-install all apps and information manually from scratch.
I restored the phone from my backup, and all went well. No more slow LTE speeds, plus a new device.
The only thing I can think of that may have happened is updating carrier settings while updating the iOS at the same time. I thought it was normal because iTunes popped up the carrier update notification a few seconds later after starting the iOS 8 update.
The carrier update did have an option to cancel. I will definitely wait for the iOS update to complete before I update carrier settings next time.
I'm just wondering if my phone was out of warranty, and this happened, would Apple still replace the device?
