Slow speed, please help

Hi, I have has problems with my line disconnecting due to an faulty extension cable which I have removed but my internet is still slow.

Is there anything that can done to increase the speed of my internet?

there is something causing a problem with your connection as your earlier posts you had an attenuation of 49.4 but now up to 58.  this should be more or les constant with a change when you move to 21CN.
are you connected direct to the test socket via a filter (preferably new one)?  what other changes did you make apart from doing away with extension cable?

  • Slow Internet Please Help "Westell 7500"

    So for the past few days I have been dealing with a slow internet connection.  I called into verizon and they sent 2 tech people out to my house and basicaly said everything was fine.  Although they did pretend they solved a problem.  When they tested my modem they said I was getting the correct amout in. (3.6 down/.8 up)  But when you try and get on a computer or my xbox and speed test it, it goes to about http://www.speedtest.net/result/2277792647.png  about .3/.1.  The tech people did not help at all and I asked that they look at the modem page but they refused.

  • SKYPE BEING SLOW SOMEONE PLEASE HELP

    So I've had skype for a long time now. I have had it on more than one computer. I'm running it on my coustom built Windows 8 (64 bit) gaming PC. It has worked flawlsy and smooth until recently. I was skyping with my buddies earier today and it worked fine. I stoped skyping for like 2 hours but didnt close the program. I started to play a steam game which I have done with skype open before and this time when i exited the game I tried to use skype. It was being super slow or "laggy" and I could barely make calls. Now its being slow and Ive tryed reinstalling it and running it as and Admin. Please help this is really agrovating!

    1)Windows 8 64 bit NOT windows 8.1
    2)I have Classic shell...It puts a start menu on windows 8 computers with out windows 8.1
    3)Coustom built PC - Processor AMD 8320 - GPU Radeon HD 7850 - PSU 750 Watt bronze - 8 gigs of RAM

    Try to uninstall the currently installed version and install the previous 6.9.0.106 version using this msi-installer:

    After installing this version, make sure to disable the Automatic updates:
    Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Automatic updates ->Turn off automatic updates

  • I am having a hard time with fcpx, it is running so slow.  i upgraded my ram to 12 and have cleaned up my computer to run faster and have changed all my files to proxy files but it is still running SO slow.  please help!

    I am having a hard time with my fcp x running so slow.  i can't even move my mouse without the time wheel coming on and staying up for at least 20 some seconds.  I have upgraded my ram to 12 and changed all my files to proxy files; also i cleaned the crap out of my computer removing all other media files I didn't need and it is still running the same.  Please help!  I have a deadline on my short film to be submitted and I can't finish it like this.  Oh also it ran fine in the beginning but and one day it just started doing this out of no where.  Anything will help!  Thanks

    In addition have you got FileVault switched on as that will kill performance.

  • MacBook Pro suddenly very slow! PLEASE HELP!

    this is my ever post and im not much of an expert so please excuse if im slow or say sth stupid
    so i have a macbook pro 2011 with an i7 which should be pretty fast. and it was until 5-6 months ago, where it just became terribly slow, i re-installed the OSX, but it didnt help.
    my battery has also died completely last month, which i will have to change, and i will add an extra 4 GB RAM i think, but i doubt thats the only issue.
    applications are ridiculuosly slow, i get the beachball of death all the time, please help.

  • Oh No.... My MacPro is SLOW! Please help!

    I received my MacPro the other day, turned it on and Migrated my files from my Dual 2.5 G5 and I started working. This thing is crawling, even when I use just Universal programs, especially when I use non-Universal programs! I took it to the Genius bar and they said it did seem slow but they ran hardware tests and got nothing..... PLEASE HELP! Any ideas, any common issues?

    You'll need to leave, nuke the site from orbit.
    1: Backup all files
    2: C boot from the installer disk and select Disk utility from the installer menu
    3: Erase w/Zero option the boot drive.
    4: Quit and reinstall Tiger fresh, imeediatly Software update till clear.
    5: If you get a 150GB 10,000 RPM Western Digital Raptor and repeat steps above to make it a boot/app/iTunes/bare bones home drive (keep it -50% filled) and keep non-secure files in new folders on the old drive, your mac OS X performance will remain snappy.
    Big filled slow boot drives cripple Mac OS X.

  • SSD and HDD Installed but it runs super slow? Please Help!

    Hi, I have a late 2011 Macbook Pro 2.2 GHZ Intel Core i7
    8gb of ram. My hard drive died in my mac and I decided to replace it with an SSD and installed an HDD in the optical bay following Ifixit instructions. I booted into internet recovery and installed Mountain Lion (as it would not let me do a straight Yosemite install from a flash drive I had made on my gf's macbook, because it couldn't authenticate). After booting up and declining the usual iCloud prompts, I rebooted and installed Yosemite from the USB. It took a while, but eventually i booted up.
    I moved my home folder to the HDD a 7200rpm Western Digital Black, which is in the optical bay, (the SSD is a Samsung 340 Pro and is installed in the Drive bay). Everything appears to be functioning, but it's slower that it had ever been using Yosemite on the HDD that had died. It take 35-40 seconds just to open System Preferences. I have used First aid on both drives via the Recovery and repaired permissions on both. I have reset the ram using option-command-r-p. I have booted into Safe Mode and Restarted the computer multiple times. Just opening a second safari window causes the spinning wheel to go for ten seconds or so. If anyone knows anything I can do, please help! I'm at a loss as to what I can do to fix this.
    I'm really not sure what is going on. It seems to take a very long time to load a website, but after using safari for a bit, the app doesn't seem to have a problem responding to commands, just takes way too long to load anything. System preferences is all of a sudden crazy snappy, but is giving me the spinning rainbow wheel when I try and click on a pane saying "Could not load Users & Groups preference pane." After I click "okay" and try again it loads right up. Grrr.

    I have another computer and I did not load the upgrade. That computer is working fine. Please help

  • Stupidly low broadband speeds, please help.

    I originally called BT about slow speeds on the 22nd of June, I told them that my Home Hub had been reset multiple times that week (i know this is to be avoided, but i wasn't at home at the time to stop it happening!) and so I told them my IP profile was the problem, and that I needed it reset. I was told they would do it within 48 hours and they would "get back to me". Well, they didn't. What followed was a series of "We will call you back at x:xx on y" which never happened, none of them. I always had to stay on top of them and constantly call them. Broken promises from the very beggining.
    Now, I know fine well it doesn't take 7 DAYS to reset an ip profile but after constantly calling them back I've ran out of patience. Quite frankly all of this customer service has been terrible from the beggining when all that needed to be done was to reset my profile, something that should take several minutes, not days. I've now been told on 3 different occasions that my profile has been reset and I'd notice a difference within 4 hours. None of this has been true.
    I'd appreciate if one of the mods could help me out here, as I'm at the end of my tether for speaking to CS India about this, they simply refuse to stick to their word.

    So I am not the only sufferer of the slow broadband from BT.  It appears that there are hundreds of us suffering with a poor connection and getting little or no resolution from BT. 
    Personally I wish I had never bothered taking the new homehub3 and vision box.  I should have cancelled my contract with BT and told them to put their routers and poor customer service where the sun doesn't shine, they might have got that right!!
    But here I am stuck with a 12 month contract for a wireless router that cannot maintain a wireless connection.  I am now on router number 3, my line has been tested and doesn't have any interference. The speed into the socket in my porch achieves 8mb but somehow between that socket and the cable plugged directly into it and the BT homehub 3 my service plummets through the earths core and ends up in Australia!
    To say I am cheesed off would be an understatement.  To write this post I have had to reconnect to the router 10 times!!!!!  What is the point of wireless when it doesn't work. 
    Customer Service have left me a voicemessage saying they will be contacting me in regards to my complaint letter and demand for compensation but have I heard anything, NO!!!
    BT need to get their act together before they lose all of their customers, and be assured I am making a lot of noise about their lack of performance on every forum I am on. 
    BT you are going DOWN!!!!!!    Hopefully you'll find my wireless connection when you get there!

    Hi all
    I hope someone here can give more help than the BT call centre. 
    My speed has dropped dramatically over the last month. I have gone from getting around 3.5mbps-4mbps to now less than 0.5mbps.
    I have done the BT speed test and I have also copied the ADSL settings and status. I have pasted this below.  
    Can someone please advise me of any advice as I am stumped. I would consider myself pretty computer savvy but I am completly at a loss with this.
    This test is done using a wireless laptop whilst the Homehub was plugged into the test socket located on the master socket. The speed tests are identical to when I do this on a wired desktop and the Homehub plugged into a different socket.

    BT have advised that the speed test is the maximum I can receive on my line but the homehub shows a massively higher speed. I'm confused.

    welcome to the forum
    you have a 5mb connection but your noise margin is a bit high at 11.1 as normal about 6.  the real problem is your profile is down at 500 instead of 4500 and this is probably due to the resets/disconnection which eithe you have done trying to improve your speed or the hub has done on it's own.
    if you stay connected 24/5 for 3/5 with no resets/disconnections your profile will rise to 4500.  you may find later that your noise margin drops to nearer 6 with a slight increase in your connection speed

  • Problem Adjysting Clip Speed - Please Help

    I have recently purchased this new Macbook and am finding it difficult to get my head around some of the features of iMovie. I am familiar with older versions. My problem is as follows:-
    I am editing a video using clips taken with the video setting of a regular camera, not camcorder. The clip are in MPEG-4 formats. I can import and split the clips with out a problem.
    However when it comes to adjusting the speed whenever I drag my cursor over the clips the play head follows. When I double click the clip as mentioned in the online tutorials instead of receiving a pop up window my play head begins to play the clip.
    Can any iMovie guru please help me with my problem. It would be much appreciated.
    Oh and if you are explaining please make your response as user friendly as possible. Still only getting to grips with this version.

    You should run software update and get version 7.1.4 and the newer versions of QuickTIme.
    However, changing clip speed is not a feature of iMovie 08. You need iMovie 09 for that.

  • Yosemite made my macbook air slow. Please help.

    I currently live in a hamlet approx 3miles from the nearest town and according to Sam Knows.com, approx 4km from the nearest nominated BT Openreach exchange. My current provider Talktalk advise me that it is the length of my line that is the cause of the slow speed, and although fibre will be hitting the exchange in spring 2013, due to me being 4km away will be of no use as BT have chosen to leave copper to the doorstep in place!  My average speed is 0.68mbps (less than 1mb) but as stated in previous posts, I am paying full price as if I was receiving close to 24mbps, and I think this is unacceptable, as it is in nearly all other retail industries so why should ISP's be exempt?? Clearly Talktalk are not to blame, as after all, BT own the lines of most of the UK phones lines, and Talktalk just pay BT.  I have had email correspondance with openreach, and am told it is too expensive for any improvements to be made to the existing line as the population here is so little!  Here I see a multi billion profitable company turning their back on rural britain shame on them.  The old saying, Rome wasn't built in a day, but they got there eventually!  Cutting corners is not the way to go, sewer channels was the way to go according to previous company H20 but that crashed after just 4 years and only served Dundee & Bournemouth, although could of been successful as it is cheaper to lay fibre in that way vs digging up roads.  Sadly, I will soon be cancelling my landline/broadband service as I am fed up of buffering on Video-Audio streaming (even spotify!)
    I am led to believe that the goverment are meant to be funding some improvements, but I am sure broadband is bottom of the priority list!

    Its hard to recommend other methods of obtaining broadband as you mention Video and buffering, as usage on other methods is no where near as generous as fixed lines, usage is where the meat is!
