  • PLEASE HELP! SLOW SPEED FOR 5 WEEKS!

Hey all, i've come here as a last resort as im sick of my slow infinity speed and sick to death with bt customer service which does not exist!
Since before christmas my bt infinity package 1 38down/10up has been playing up after 12 midnight! usually after this time my speed would go down from 37download to around 0.5/0.1 soo low that i can't load a web page. Ive tried for weeks contacting bt which takes me to the offshore call centre where iv'e been fobbed of that an engineer is investigating an issue at the exchange or that the issue will be fixed in either 24, 36 or 48 hours numerous times to which it has not.
This last week my internet speed has dropped during the day time where before in the day it was a solid 37down and 10 up it now goes down to 10 meg and now its gone down to 0.1 meg. It went down to 0.1 meg today at around 6.30pm.
These are a list of stats below: Im at my wits end and i just want my broadband fixed! I beg Please someone help me!

  • Slow speeds for the past 2 weeks

For the past 2 weeks I have been having very slow speeds. At first I thought it was the westell modem which kept powering down, rebooting every 30+ mins or would save the network settings. Purchase a new modem still have the slow speed minus the constant reboots and loss of settings.
Any chance to get my speeds up to what Iam currently paying for?
    Package: 1.5-3Mbps
Speed tests form diffrent sites 0.399Mbps to 0.412 Mbps

Your line isn't in a very good shape to be running on the 1.5Mbps-3Mbps package. As it stands, you barely have enough capacity to support even 1/3 of the 1.5Mbps provisioning. There's simply too much noise.
What you should do first is take one of your modems out to your NID, if you have access to one and plug it into the test jack found inside of the NID. If there is a telephone plug already inserted into it, remove it to gain access to the jack (this will disconnect your home's wiring until you reconnect it). From there, sync up the modem and post up the new Transceiver Statistics you obtain.
Have your speeds been at 1.5-3Mbps in the past? That would also help us. Lastly, if you have Voice Service with Verizon, do you have any noise on your line, such as humming, buzzing, loud static or popping?

  • IPad Air very slow for last 6 weeks. Installing latest did not help. Screen just sits and buffers. If I reboot, sometimes it's better, sometimes it's not..????

MMy iPad Air has been VERY slow, for 6-8 weeks. Update to iOS 8.1 did not help.  Screen just sits and buffers. Rebooting sometimes helps, sometimes not.what's wrong???

Hi go to ICloud & backup. Go to Seetings Restore to Factory Settings This will get rid of any bugs and make ipad like new. Just use Same Apple ID & password then you will get all your Apps & Data Back. Cheers Brian

  • Very slow connection for about one week

For the past week or so my connection speed has dropped massively, usually i could download at about 800kb/s and now it has reduced to around 5-10 kb/s.
My router is connected directly to the phone line, and is connected to my pc via an ethernet cable and and wirelessly to 1 laptop and an xbox 360.
I checked BT service statues and last week there was a problem (which has since been resolved) in the Bishop Auckland area - I have reset my router several times and the problem persists.
I have tried about a dozen times, but as of yet cannot get the BT speedtest to run, I enter my phone number and then the screen remains blank, I have tried this in firefox and IE on both my desktop and laptop. I will carry on trying.
My results from speed.io are quite confusing as the download and upload speeds are "excellent"
    Results from http://www.speed.io
    (Copied on 2011-10-30 13:59:42)
    Download: 442 Kbit/s
    Upload : 118 kbit/s
    Connects : 1244 conn/min
    Ping: 39 ms
however in reality page loads are extremely slow and file downloads run at about 5 kb/s
any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

  • Very slow broadband for past few weeks?

Hi for past few weeks my broadband speeds and ping been all other the place rasied a fault with bt, and the woman on the phone said interleaving with on, thats why my ping times up and down and it would take upto 48hrs to turn off.
I got the bt home hub 2 and also got a spare dlink router but the problem is well worse with the homehub ping times 30 to 50 ms higher with the homehub and speeds around 380kbs that not even 0.5mb.
Anyways to cut a long story short i dont see any where on the hub that tells me about if the interleaving is on or not, i have been with bt since last aug and i never asked for interleaving to be on.
On my dlink that says its on fast so i no interleaving aint on, 2 weeks later and its even worse now its slow all the time no matter what time of day or night and i phoned bt the other day to say to them, and was told they would phone back today but no call, my profile is 7150 my connection never drops unless i reboot the router or disconnects its self heres a tracert i just done :

    Hi
Have you checked the link out here this will take you through a step by step guide to ensure the problem is not in your premises, as the fault could be in your own wiring or a faulty ADSL filter.
Although looking at your speed test results it looks like you have a good speed, what time of the day did you do the ping test? It maybe worth tring it to a number of sites and you can then maybe get an avarege, also avoid the internet peak period.

  • Slow speed for months after line fault - stable co...

    Hi,
A few months ago we had a line fault (trees attacking the cables!). This resulted in the IP profile reducing to try and maintain a stable connection.  We are now connecting at 576kbps down and 608kbps up.
The line fault has now been cleared but we were getting ADSL disconnects when the phone rang which was keeping the system from increasing the speed.
This looks as though it is now solved.  I have had only 1 disconnect (power cut in the night). in the last 2 weeks.  The connection was on for just over 7 days when this happened and has now been on for 4.5days.
Should thre line has started to increased by now?  We had a download speed in excess for 2.5mbps before the fault.
Could someone advise?  Is the line stuck?
    Thanks

  • Slow speed for downloading app and podcasts by WiFi

My Ipod Touch 5G is very very slow for downloading apps and podcasts, but not with internet browsing or youtube videos. I have an Ipad 2 with not problems in the same WiFi network. But the Ipad don´t have the last iOS update (6.0.1).
Anyone else have the same issue?

Download speed on wifi on my iphone is also slow, but only when downloading podcasts...
    Running 6.0.2 on iPhone 5.
On WIFI I can download a 45 mb app from the appstore in less than a minute. I can stream Youtube and Netflix with no problems. Internet browsing - no problems.
But downloading podcasts with Instacast 3, Downcast or the Apple Podcast app happens at a rate of 20-50 kb/s when on WIFI. As soon as I switch to 3g (I am in a european country where 4g/LTE is not yet available) my download speed goes to between 300kb/s and 2 mb/s.

  • ITunes not opening for last few weeks (Windows 2000)

I haven't been able to get my iTunes to work in a few weeks. I try to open it, I usually get no error messages at all (once in a while I get one that just says that itunes.exe encountered errors and needed to close), I do get the hourglass for a split second, and then nothing happens. I've also had Task Manager open to see what happens when I try to open it. iTunes.exe does appear for a split second.
First, I'm running Win2k, iTunes version 4.7 (yes, I know it's archaic - I've had it since it was current and never had problems). I have a dial-up connection (unfortunately). I do have Norton Antivirus, but it's the 2003 edition (obviously updated, so I don't know if that makes a difference). I don't have Norton Internet Security. I've been using this antivirus program for about 9 months with no problems for over 8 of those months. I don't know that the antivirus program is a problem in this case. As well, I can't think of what I could have installed or changed on my computer to prevent iTunes from operating all of a sudden. Also, I do have a firewall (McAfee), but I've had that for years and it has never interfered with any of my installed programs.
I did download the newest version of iTunes yesterday, but it won't install (something about a missing or corrupt DLL - it doesn't name which one). I'm not too bothered by that. I'd rather have my old iTunes working. Anyway, I think the problem must be something other than needing the newest version.
I've seen a lot of instructions (many from 2005 that seem similar to what I'm experiencing) like opting to 'view all hidden files' and then delete a file from the sc info folder (http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=823094#823094). I've read through the entire board and searched, scanned, and otherwise followed many of the instructions. Nothing has worked so far. I stress that I've been using iTunes for a few years now (always the same version), and I've never had any problems.
I'm not totally sure that I don't have some kind of extra-tricky malware that my three spyware programs aren't detecting.
Any help, hints, or insights would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

So you have reinstalled Quicktime and it now works OK?
    Which version was that?
A working quicktime means that we now know that any problems you have with iTunes are not because Quicktime doesn't work.
Silent launch failures of iTunes with a working QT, i.e. one with out error messages have their own set of causes, although your version of iTunes is a bit before my time. One of the key points with them is whether iTunes persists in the task manager or not after it fails.
With more recent versions of iTunes, silent failures with a non persisting iTunes tend to be due to digital signing issues once spyware is excluded. However I do not know if digital signing affects the early versions of iTunes or Windows 2000. My impression is that it is an issue that appeard recently.
The issue is discussed for Windows XP in this article:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302856
Under: Fix digital signing of Windows drivers
    Also: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/813442
I wonder if it worth trying to install a more recent version of iTunes say, iTunes 6.0.5, that was the last version of iTunes 6 and seemed to work pretty well. If you want to give it a go, you can get it from Apple here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/itunes605forwindows.html
    Or Old Apps.com
    http://www.oldapps.com/itunes.htm
If you are going to do that I would do a complete removal of iTunes first, there are instructions in the next link, but just follow the section for remove iTunes.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93698
I am not sure if any of this will help you, it is a shame bnoir isn't around as he is the expert on this kind of thing and was around in the iTunes 4 days.

  • Slow speeds for my area...?

In my area, BT estimate that I should be getting speeds of around 6.5-8.5 mbps... But in my area, (And I have checked with others in my area) are getting speeds of around 0.7-1mbps. These speeds are really hard to live with and i and the people in my area think this is very unfair considering we are all paying for the best package we can get in our area (The unlimited "up to 20mbps" one, I forget the name). There are no loose connections in my house, and the speeds have been like this for as long as I can remember! Can any one fix this for me? and I mean actually fix this for me, because last time I talked to some one from BT all they did was send me a link to a page saying my estimated speed? PLEASE HELP, I'M DESPERATE!

    welcome to the forum
this is a community forum where customers help customers and only BT employees are the forum mods
in order for the forum members to help please can you post the adsl stats from your router may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or use a-z, if netgear enter 192.168.0.1) and run btspeedtester (MAC users may have problems) http://speedtester.bt.com or http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9354/c/346,4740,5520 and post the results .
are you connected directly to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Is the master the only phone socket in your home?
Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal
Someone may then be able to offer help/assistance/suggestions to your problem

Guys I have the same problem only mine is worst. The speed has decrease dramatically over the last 3 days.
I did a speedtest as instructed on here. Results.
Download speedachieved during the test was - 171 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 2000-7150 Kbps.
     Additional Information:
     Your DSL Connection Rate :460 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 444 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 7000 Kbps
The throughput of Best Efforts (BE) classes achieved during the test is - 35.94:32.27:31.94 (SBE:NBEBE)
These figures represent the ratio while sententiously passing Sub BE, Normal BE and Priority BE marked traffic.
The results of this test will vary depending on the way your ISP has decided to use these traffic classes.
    ====================
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 275 Kbps
     Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 444 Kbps
Also can someone link me to the BT BB help line so I can talk to someone about this? All the advice on the website end with "contact your ISP if you need further help" but it doesn't provide any numbers or any links to numbers.

your problem looks different at first glance.  can I suggest you start your own subject and that way replies won't get mixed up between the originator and yourself

  • Can't update for last two weeks

For the last week or so I've had an update waiting for me in the APP store. Every time I go to the APP store I can view all the categories but the update category. When I click on updates the page is blank and it keeps looking like its loading something. Here is the output log from the system. Did my license change all the sudden?

  • Very Slow Speed for OS X Updates

    Hey Everyone
I have been attempting to download updates through the Mac App Store recently on my mid-2013 MacBook Air, currently running OS X 10.10.2.
It seems as though a download of 40 MB is going to take around 2 hours... very weird because my connection is extremely fast. For example, I can download about 4 GB in about half an hour.
Is anyone else experiencing OS X updates downloading very slow through the MAS. It seems as though it doesn't affect any app downloads though.

I'm facing same issue with same modem.. esp when I use wifi. However, if I connect to ether port its much better.. Please let me know if you found a solution..

i am in india iam using i phone 5 whenever i insert a sim card it works properly but after 10 or30 or maximum after one hour phone shows no sim or invalid sim.i have changed sim on /off phone but nothing is happening please help me

That's going to be a ridiculous waste of money and energy.
First of all, the current ATI drivers don't support multiple GPUs, so at the moment even a single 4870X2 would be only a 'normal' 4870 (which is quite a speed beast already). GFX drivers evolve rapidly, so things might look different next month, but when it comes to Linux and hardware there's one Golden Rule: stay away from the newest stuff and wait for proper support to get coded.
I also wonder what power supply could possibly cope with the differences between idle and full load; that's way beyond 400W. But then, I'm one of those "quiet&green" types where >100W idle is already a bit much.
I kind of understand that you want to get it done and not worry about hardware for the next 10 years or so, but that's simply not how the hardware world works and never did. At least not for the average consumer.
