Slow startup after installing on my StorCenter ix2-200 CE the latest firmware version 3.2.10.30101

Hi,
After installing some weeks ago the new firmware version 3.2.10.30101, the startup of my device is taking consistently around 45-60 minutes to be full operative, accessing to its web interface or being mapped and available the different disk units that i have configured.
What about the corresponding warranty that should have the new firmware? If it has being published and recommended by Lenovo, it should have the corresponding period of warranty.
So:
1.- Has the root cause been detected? Should we have a new firmware version solving it? Because it seems downgrade to previous firware version is not possible.
2.- Could you confirm a possible workaround? Disconnect network cable and startup device till consisten white led...?
3.- For an alternative solution, can it help to rewrite this firmware version? How is the procedure?
4.- Does full factory reset help? If yes, i can look for making a backup, and try it.
Waiting for your suggestion of next steps.
Thanks for your support.
Javi

Hello jdehoyosr
My answer is still the same.  You would not have been able to factory reset the unit and retain your data without backing up the data first.  I have already clearly explained that the backup and restore feature could have allowed you to backup your settings/configurations to be restored after the factory reset.  You would have still needed to restore your data from the backup after the factory reset regardless if you had used the configuration backup and restore option for your settings.
The configuration backup and restore would not have been able to the firmware glitch that you were experiencing.  If would have had a previous backup file, it would only have applied settings that you had previously backed up. Depending on which restore option was picked it could have also wiped your data.

  • Anyone notice slow startup after install of 10.4.9?

Sorry to say that I haven't been on my little iBook in about a month or so, but a few nights ago updated all the software, including the 10.4.9 upgrade. Now startup is definately slower. Just wondering if anyone else was noticing this as well. 1.2/512/30gig(12gb free).
I did the normal checks, made sure I wasn't 'out' of HD space...i'm doing good at 12gigs free. Just kinda strange, takes a little while to build the desktop. I guess more RAM is not an 'option' anymore for me!
Any advice or comments would be great!
    iBook 1.2/512/combo/10.4.9 - iPod 30gb video   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   http://www.nmann.net

10.4.9 is considerably slower you are right.
I have the same iBook as you, and being a past windows user I'm not afraid of reinstalling O/S's.
On the default 10.4.2 the iBook screams. Safari scrolls at 50-60 fps, everything is fluid. As soon as you update to 10.4.7-10.4.9 the book gets slower. Safari scrolling drops to 35-40 fps. The whole system seems to lose some snappy.
That's after permission repair, full onyx, full yasu, etc.
It's like this on every mac.
I have noticed that mac users on the whole know far less about computer maintenance than windows users (not surprisingly). But this also means they don't know the speed improvements that can be had with a OS X reinstall and/or onyx tweaking.

  • Slow Startup after installing Adobe Reader X and 9.4

Okay, I've been using Reader 9 since before i can remember, without any problems!  Now, after I install Reader X or 9.4, my computer will take about 5 minutes to startup.  After startup I have no problems with programs or performance.  What's wrong?  Alternatively, does anyone know where I can get Adobe Reader 9?

  • Need help troubleshooting slow startup after installing apps

I'm relatively new to OSX (though not new to computer administration and Unix/Linux) and I need some guidance troubleshooting my slow booting Macbook.
I've got a vanilla Macbook that can installed with 10.5.5 and I've since done the upgrade to 10.5.6. I didn't have any problems until I started installing some heavier apps like the Adobe CS3 suite and MS Office (I know, I should get iLife, but I have an available license of Office.)
Since doing these installs, it has noticeably, but not drastically, slowed the start-up time of my mac. The slow down starts in the blue screen part of startup and is most noticeable as the dock and the menus load.
(I've read about Searchlight indexing, which would make sense since these are both big suites, but it's had several hours of run time to do this and many reboots and it's still a problem.)
I have my suspicions that Adobe is mostly the culprit here, but I'm not sure where to look for start-up logs and configuration info. Are there any apps out there like Start Up Control Panel (www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml) for OSX? Are there any places that would be a good place to start looking? I basically want to try to make sure that only the necessary stuff is loading at start-up and and none of that "helper app" crap that was so common in windows environments.

  • Syncing with iTunes slow again, after installing iTunes 8.1.0.52

Hi. I once experienced really slow backups (during Syncing), which I think was fixed by updating my iPhone 3G's firmware. I have not had a slow backup for a long time.
I now have the lastest firmware version (2.2.1, just checked for updates through iTunes), and I recently upgraded iTunes to the latest version, 8.1.0.52.
Since upgrading iTunes to 8.1.0.52, the backup suddenly started taking a very long time again (over 30 minutes), and sometimes it seems like it will never end so I cancel it.
I tried doing "Run Diagnostics..." in iTunes, and it ran through reasonably quickly, and then reported that everything was OK, which it isn't.
Is this a known issue with 2.2.1 and 8.1.0.52?
Or, is there some way that I can "debug" what is making my backup take so long?

same thing here after updating iTunes. 5(!) hours....

  • Very slow boot after installing 10.10.3

insanely slow boot after installing 10.10.3, it takes 10times longer compare to 10.10.2, using MBA 2014

Open System Preferences, select Startup Disk, and make sure your internal drive is selected as the startup disk. Then click restart!
This worked for me, personally with the same issue.
    Good luck!

  • Slow down after installing Lion OS

My Macbook pro later than 2009 model slowed down after installing the new OS Lion
any suggestions to speed it up

First suggestion ,there have been a number of identical user questions like yours, in the Lion Community. If you want to talk to other MacBook Pro owners, try the forum they have.
    http://www.apple.com/support/macbookpro
What you do not need is some gizmo to "speed up" or clean caches etc.
Maybe you need to make more room on your hard drive, or add more RAM.
For now, hold down Command-R and run Disk Utility to check the health of your system drive (Lion Recovery Mode)

    jlgapple,
whenever a new version of OS X is installed, Spotlight will spend some time reïndexing the boot disk to update its metadata on the updated files in OS X. If Spotlight has finished its reïndexing, have you ensured that all of your third-party apps, plug-ins, kernel extensions, &c. are compatible with Mavericks?

  • After installing an application that was created using the Application Builder

After installing an application that I created using the Application Builder I get this error if I try to run " ANY " LabVIEW App's that I have built. "Executable Version 7.1.1 doesn't match Resource File 7.1. Check your configuration."
The way that I tried to fix this is to reload LabVIEW 7.1 and DAQmx 8.0. I am using two NI-6528 switch cards.
After I reload LabVIEW and DAQmx I can run my applications but as soon as I install one on this development machine the error begins again.
The executable that I built works fine on the development machine and any other machine that I try it on but it appears that the Run-Time engine 7.1 becomes corrupt after I run setup.exe for the newly created application.
I have built numerous Installers, setup.exe's in the past without this error. Just this latest one caused this problem to start.
I can NOT upgrade to 7.1.1. I am doing work for many different sections of this factory and I can not force them to upgrade. I've asked. Others supply code for the same machines using LabVIEW 7.1.
I am stuck creating executables and manualing moving the correct files to the target machines.
    What can be done?

No. The KB article was talking about a machine with 7.1.1 installed. I have LabVIEW 7.1 installed.
The machine that I am having trouble with is my development machine. LabVIEW 7.1, DAQmx 8.0.
If I build the executable all is fine. I can still run old executables including the one I just built.
If I create the installer all is fine. I can still run old executables including the one I just built.
When I install the app on my development machine the corruption occurs. I can " NOT " run old executables including the one I just built. The subject error pops up.
I have not moved any executables to the other machines yet. I don't want to corrupt others.

  • I am unable to open Photo on my MacBook Pro after installing ilife 11 from a disc.  The message I get says "you can't open the application iPhoto because it may be damaged or incomplete.  What can I do?!

I am unable to open iPhoto on my Macbook Pro (OSX 10.9.3)  after installing ilife 11 from a disc.  The message I get is "you can't open the application iPhoto because it may be damaged or incomplete.  What can I do?!  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Reinstall it.This time delete the receipts first.
    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
    2. Download it from the App Store to reinstall It's on your Purchases List* there.
For older versions that have been installed from Disk you'll need these additional steps:
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 or later they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
*Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4928
One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.
    Important:
As you're on 10.9.3 you'll need to update iPhoto to v9.5 before opening it. Use Software update.

You installed a hacked app, originally from the Mac App Store. It contains the receipt for a different app, downloaded using an account that you don't control. You need to identify and remove the hacked app.
Important: The app you need to remove is not necessarily the one named in the App Store alert. For example, the App Store may prompt you to update "Angry Birds" or "Twitter," but the hacked app may be something else entirely. Don't make any assumptions about which app you're looking for. To find it, you must carry out a systematic search with Spotlight.
    1. Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:
    kMDItemAppStoreHasReceipt=1
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    2. In the Finder, press command-F to open a search window, or select
    File ▹ Find
from the menu bar. In the search window, select
    Search: This Mac
from the row of tokens below the toolbar. Below that is a popup menu of search criteria, initially showing Kind. From that menu, select
    Other...
A sheet will drop down. In that sheet, select
    Raw Query
as the criterion, then click OK or press return.
Now there will be a text box to the right of the menu of search criteria. That's where you enter the raw search query. Click in that box and paste the text you copied earlier by pressing command-V.
    4. The search window will now show all the App Store products that are installed. Compare those search results with the list of your purchases from the App Store. To see the complete list, you may need to unhide hidden purchases. If any apps were download from the App Store using other Apple ID accounts that you control, sign in to the store under each of those ID's and check the purchases.
At least one of the apps in the Spotlight search results is not among your purchases in the App Store. Move each such item to the Trash, after quitting it if it's running. You may be prompted for your administrator password. Empty the Trash.
Quit and relaunch the App Store. Test.
If you find these instructions confusing, ask for an alternative method.
