Slow startup & shut down on new iPod Touch 4G but it takes 40 seconds to start!!

Hello,
Just bought a new iPod Touch 4G (32GB) two weeks ago and from day 1 it takes forever to start up!   Usually about 40 seconds to start up and 30 seconds to shut down.   My son's 8GB starts up right away.   I've been a longtime Apple customer, but bugs like this are annoying.   Is this a reflection of that $150 million that Microsoft invested in Apple years ago?

I would get Applejack 1.5; just do a google for it. In stall it.
Restart holding down the Command(Apple) + s key; until you see white lettering on black background.
When you get to a prompt type the following: "applejack auto" no quotes; hit return and let it do its thing. If that doesn't fix it I would restart again Holding down the keys mentioned and type the following applejack AUTO and hit return.
Best free application I have ever used. First thing use when trouble shooting.
It will wipe out your desktop picture pref. only thing I have ever found that it does.

  • Do the new iPod Touches shoot video and take pictures?

Do the new iPod Touches shoot video and take pictures?
The new Nanos shoot video. You'd think the Touch would.
I spent maybe 20 minutes reading Apple info pages, an iPod comparison page, and even quickly searched the User Guide, but saw nothing about shooting video anywhere.
Sure, it talked about video, but it wasn't clear to me if that was only for playback.
I guess I am missing it, or else it doesn't do it, which would be strange.
If it does, where is this info on the Apple Web site? That is, links to both video and photo shooting?
    Thanks!

  • My brand-new iPod touch (5th Gen) battery takes a very long time to fully charge, even while not in use. Why is this and what should I do?

Just recently bought a brand-new iPod touch, 5th generation. To be exact, got it two days ago, this past Saturday, on 12/13/2014. Initially, when I first turned it on, it had a fully charge and I didn't need to charge it. I also didn't see anything in the very small and limited start-up guide you receive with it to charge it for a certain amount of time before use, or to use it until the battery dies, then charge all the way, like a lot of electronic devices have you do when you first purchase them.
So I was assuming I didn't need to do anything like that. First question, should I have charged it for a period of time before use? Should I have used it until the battery died, then plugged it in and charged it fully before use? Or is none of this necessary initially and iPod batteries are good to go from the start?
Please excuse me if this is an obvious question, as this is my first ever iPod. Anyways, like I said, nothing in the "instructions" said anything about that, so I didn't do it, I just used it until it got below 20% battery left, then I plugged it in.
Now for the battery itself, it takes literally a day or so to fully charge, even while not in use. Even if I use it for a while, turn off the iPod to make sure it shuts off all background data and apps, and then plug it in to charge, it still charges extremely slowly. I've never seen a device take this long to charge. As for the battery life itself, I'd say at full charge it lasts about 4-5 hrs, maybe 6, and then I have to charge it again. Meanwhile it takes around 24 hours, without me using it, to fully charge. If I use it while its charging, the battery decreases faster than it charges, and eventually I'll get the typical "20% battery remaining" message pop up.
I know it is charging, as the lightning symbol is next to the battery symbol. Specifically, right now, I plugged it in about 1 hr 30 minutes ago, and it has barely gone up. Also, whenever I press the home button to check the battery, I can see it jump down from about 50% to somewhere around 25%-30%. What is that about?
This is really frustrating, and I'm seriously contemplating either taking it back and trying my luck with a different iPod, or just taking it back and getting my money back. Any help and clarification on this matter would be greatly appreciated, and I'll answer any questions I can to shed more light on this.

It will take longer to charge the 5G's battery than either the 3G or 4G's battery.

  • New iPod Touch 5g - but can't sync

With my 4g Touch, I can insert the cable in the sync port, and it would me to iTunes. Then, I'd sync my device. Simple enough.
My new iPod Touch 5g seems to work fine. However, when I get to the point in the setup when I insert the Lightning connector, there's no connection to iTunes. It's almost as if the Lightning connector isn't recognized.
Am I missing something? Is there some procedure I need to do? I'm planning to visit the Apple Store, but I wanted to check here in case it's not a faulty cable.

No i downloaded the latest version to day 11.0.1.12
I also tried to use an old cable (30 pins) with an adapter for lightning.
When i first started the ipad i sett it up for i cloud. But when i could not link the pad and the computer.
I deleted everything on the ipad and satt it up with out icloud.
Now when i start the appstore i can se my programs with an i cloud symbol.
So i think it also can be something with the set up. Perhaps i could not get rid off i cloud an that is some how blocking for normal syncking??????

  • New ipod touch charges but doesnt display how much it has charged

I recently got a new ipod touch and it charges fine and everything, but when i switch it off and charge it it doesnt display how much it has charged (Although it does charge it) and sometimes if my ipod is switched off and i plug it into charge it swtiches it self on. Can anyone tell me if when it is switched off it is ment to display how much it has charged. Thanks

Just to make sure that I understood your last question, here's what the ipod is supposed to do:
If the ipod is switched completely off, it will not display anything, no matter if you push the home of sleep button. If you hold the sleep wake button for a longer time, the device will power up again, the same thing will happen if you plug in your switched off ipod into your charger or connect it to your computer via USB cable.
So, if switched off, the ipod can not display anything, not even a status bar for it's battery.

  • Shutting down Safari on iPod Touch

Why would anyone want to shut down Safari on the iPod Touch? Well, it's like this.
The WiFi network at the University where I work has a laborious and arcane log-in where it's necessary to shut down the browser after entering the username and password, and then restart it in order to gain access to the network and the Internet. I've managed to configure the proxy settings for this network, and enter the username and password into the incredibly tiny boxes. But I can't for the life of me figure out how to shut the browser down. If I switch to another application and/or power down the iPod Touch, the browser resolutely remains open to the last page viewed.
    Any thoughts?

Open a new empty page in Safari and close the original one. Then close Safari. Safari will re-open at the empty page.
(In fact, when you close Safari, you are in fact shutting it down - it doesn't remain running in the background. Safari just remembers the last page you were at and re-opens it when you re-open Safari).

  • I ordered the new iPod touch 5g, but my computer is version 10.5.8.

What do I do? I am aware that i can re-download all of my bought music. However, most of it has not been "bought" on iTunes. I import CD's. Is there anything I can do? Thank you for any info:)

If you're using a fifth generation iPod touch and an Intel Mac, buy Mac OS X 10.6 from the online Apple Store and run Software Update.

  • I just recently purcased my new ipod touch 5 but, have forgotten my password. It has not yet been connected to a computer but has been conected to icloud. How can I reset my password?

Hi, I just recently purchased an ipod touch 5 and have already forgotten my password. I have not yet connected it to my computer so when I tried today it didn't show up as a device. When I tried to go into icloud on my other device, thinking that may help, it would not let me change the email because it was my school ipad. What should I do?

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

  • I just opened my brand new iPod touch 4th generation, and it's frozen with green, vertical lines. Does it have to be replaced?

It's Christmas morning and my parents bought me a new iPod Touch 4th Generation 4G 32GB. I started charging it, 5mins later I walked back into my room and there I saw it - frozen, white screen with light green, vertical lines. It's brand new, and I just opened it about 5mins prior. I never dropped it, it never touched water. My mum bought it at the nearby Target. I opened it, in it's case and everything. So I have no clue what happened. I really hope the workers at Target didn't just sell me a broken iPod. This really stinks, and I really hope somebody can help me. I feel terrible for my mum having spent so much on it. So please, someone help me out.

Hello planb77 / PANIDORA, I'm having the same problem. I'm using my iPhone 5S or my iPad Mini cable and wall charger to do it (both originals) , and the iPod Shuffle does not charge at all, doesn't matter if is direct on the wall or trough my Macbook Air.I 've restored it once, but nothing has changed. What else can I do?

  • Sync new iPod Touch 4G to old iPod Touch 2G Library

When my new 4G iPod Touch arrives any day now, I'd like to sync it with my current 2G iPod Touch library. That is, I'd like to transfer all the data, apps, playlists, settings, etc. from my current 2G iPod Touch library to the new 4G iPod Touch. What is the easiest way to accomplish this? (Once the new iPod Touch is set up, the old iPT will no longer be used. I plan to reset/wipe it and possibly sell, so I have no need to sync both of them to the same library...)
    Thanks!

I wanted to let you know that I had the same concern and everything worked well EXCEPT the Apps transferring. It turns out that if you bought your apps directly through your old iPod Touch and not through the computer than you will have an issue with App data transfering over. Here's what to do.
1)connect your OLD iPod Touch to the computer, back it up, and disconnect.
2)connect your NEW iPod Touch to the computer and go through start up.
3)you should then be prompted to restore from back up or set up as new ipod (if not simply right click on the listed new device on iTunes and select restore from backup and click on recent backup)
4)All of your settings will now be the same as they were on your old iPod but you will NOT see your Apps (however all of the data from your old apps is on your new iPod just not where you can see it)
    5) Lastly, go to the App Store on your NEW iPod and download your old apps. (even if they cost money, it will not make you pay because it will recognize you have data from previous app on your iPod)

  • I just bought a new iPod touch, and when I sync it, it won't hold anything.

I just bought a new iPod touch. But when I sync it with my iTunes library, it won't hold anything. It just says syncing, and when its done, there is nothing on it.

Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Did you initiallysetup the iPod via wifi?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
If so have you done anything like update iTunes on the computer since it last successfully synced?
Do the songs play in iTunes?
Does any media now sync to the iPod?

  • Brand new ipod touch 3 frustrating slow wifi

Dear all, I just opened my brand new iPod Touch 3 yesterday and it connected to my wifi network without any issue.
But then, the browsing has been a joke. Not a funny one. It is slow like you have no idea. I could load only 4 pages in the whole evening. The google front was one of them.
I was sitting right next to the router. It didn't help.
I cannot say I was loosing the connection. Only that loading any page was next to impossible.
My provider of internet is www.get.no in Norway.

Update: I previously advised the following quoted manual set up. I thought had solved problem but it returned. I now have found I think the real root of slow iTouch on Airport Wifi Network. Seems wireless telephone is interfering on 2.4 freq. Channel for 2.4 Freq was set on 1. I have now changed to channel 6. I have now being operating Two iTouch at same time for several hours with no freeze and acceptable speed. Anyone else having hang ups, slow operation, etc. would suggest trying channel change on 2.4 Freq., especially if you have wireless tel. in house.

You open Airport Utility, click on manual setup, enter your WiFi password, click on wireless tab, click on radio mode drop down box, pick 802.11a/n-802.11b/g instead of automatic, Now click radio channel selection and pick manual, pick any random channel for each of the 2 frequencies.

You said you restored the iPod. Was the restore successful, that is, it went though all the steps without errors?
Try a restore to factory settings/new iPod if yuhave not doe so so far.
Are you  using the headphones that came with the iPod? Are you inserting the plug fully
Have you tried another set of headphones in the iPod?
The speaker is not that loud.

  • Brand new ipod touch closes down computer every time i plug it in Help

Can anyone help? I have a brand new ipod touch which closes down my computer everytime i plug it in. I have updated i tunes and we have 3 older ipods on the computer already in there own sites for the kids. I am not a computer wizz and getting frustrated on what to do.

Pretty much anyone using an iPod Classic with iTunes 9 or 901 is screwed in a similar manner. Read around these threads and you'll see man. Sorry, no word from Apple yet on what's going on.
Looks like their ''upgrade" to version 9 may actually be damaging hardware, as hard as that seems to believe.
