Slow sync/outlook appts missing

I have a BB Pearl 8120, syncing desktop manager 4.7 with Outlook 2003 on an XP laptop via USB.  I am syncing addresses, notes, tasks, and calendar.  I have two issues:
1) it takes an extremely long time to sync.  It says I have something like 13k entries.  I am new to BB...was using a Palm PDA and the sync was done in only a fraction of the time it is taking for the BB (it is taking between 15-60 min to do a sync on BB... the same calendar on Palm took 1-2 min).  Is there any other app I can use to do the sync or are there some tricks to speeding up the sync?
2) I started missing a lot of calender items out of my Outlook...most of 2008 and some of 2007 was missing.  I found the appointments today in the deleted file folder of Outlook.  As far as I can tell, when I do a sync, it is moving appts. in Outlook to the deleted folder.  Is that normal?  How can I stop it from doing that?  I have looked in a few areas to see if I can find a switch to turn it off, but not finding anything that looks like it is the culprit in the Desktop s/w or outlook.  I did the desktop set to only sync a certain number of days before and after today...I have reset that to syncing all.  I am nervous to sync now as I don't want to have outlook trashed again.  Any ideas?

Backups are a must if the data is important.  However, the Desktop manger should be thoroughly tested so that "accidental" deletions don't occur.  So, why is the synchronization so slow?  Why is it doing a full table scan every time I sync with outlook 2007?  And, why does the calendar/appointments synchronization get so confused?   It prompts me to confirm deletion of appointments almost every time I perform an initial sync.  After I perform a resync, then it gets it right after having to scan the Curve and my outlook for a second time.  Not so bad if it were fast.  Could it be Vista?
I'm starting to really miss my palm which performed its synchronization in a small fraction of the time and was done accurately the first time.  It's getting so that when I leave the office, my blackberry does not have the most current information.  I can't afford to wait for it to complete synchronizing.   Is there a fix I'm supposed to apply to either the curve and/or the desktop manager?

  • Can't sync outlook appts

When I do a sync I have all kind of problems, the biggest of which is that nothing that I put on my outlook calendar will download/sync to my blackberry.  Everything that was in outlook on my initial sync is there, but I can't get anything that I put directly on outlook on my desktop to sync to my blackberry.  I'm having the same problem with getting things that I put directly on my blackberry to sync to my outlook - but that is hit or miss.  That is, sometimes it syncs, somettmes it doesn't.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled blackberry link a few times and that didn't help.
The other issue I have is with the length of time it takes to sync. It gets to the last screen where it looks like it is finished and it stops with the message "Suncing your contacts and calendar appointments.  Do not disconnect your device."  It will literally sit on this screen for 30 minutes to an hour or more.  And then I eventually get a message that the sync failed because it didn't write anything to the device.
Help!  I really like the Q10, but if I can't sync the calendar it's a deal-breaker and I've got to give in to the iphone or something else.....

It sounds to me like you're trying to use multiple systems when one would be enough.
I recommend using either email for calendar OR use wired sync to outlook and don't sync calendars wirelessly on the BB. Don't try to do both. If you have those same email accounts integrated with your BB then you should get the calendars associated with those email accounts sync'd to the BB wirelessly. If you're then trying to sync using a usb cable for those same calendars through Outlook you are just creating a mess.
See if you can get all your calendar items exported to one account and then import them into a cloud service. I recommend Outlook.com. Then everything will sync from Outlook.com to your BB device. I also understand the desire to get BBM groups calendars into a PC location but it's just not possible.
If you can get everything into one place, like Outlook.com you can sync that with Outlook using the Hotmail connector and then the outlook.com account will sync nicely with the Q10. That's what I do.

  • Syncing Outlook 2007 Calendar to my iPhone - HELP

Does anyone know the answer to this question below? I got my iPhone last Friday, immediately activated it, all went very smooth and very quick. When it came to syncing contacts and calendar, it did not work so well. Over the last week on multiple calls with Apple and Microsoft Technical Support, I was able to fix the contacts not syncing issue and all is working great. As for the calendar, I still am having problems and wondering if "ANYONE" has the answer? Initially I could not get any calendar events to sync. After exporting my entire calendar (530 items) to my desktop as a .CSV file, deleting my calendar off the corporate server and importing it back in, it finally brought over all my calendar events minus any recurring appointments. I am hearing it will "not" allow you to sync recurring appts which is a REAL PROBLEM!!
I still have a problem in that if I add a new event on my Outlook Calendar, sync both Outlook and the iPhone, it will not add the even to my iPhone.
If I add an event on the iPhone and do the syncs, it puts it on the Outlook Calendar. This is the craziest thing I have ever heard of.
DOES ANYONE HAVE A WORKING SOLUTION?????

If you are still having a problem synchronizing the Outlook Contacts and Calendar to the iPhone, even with the latest version of iTunes (7.3.1.3), the following steps may help. I've found these steps are the fastest solution until Apple releases a fix; hopefully with the next editions of iTunes.
Again, perform the following if, each time you try to synchronize your Contacts and Calendar from Outlook 2003 (or perhaps even Outlook 2007) to your iPhone nothing happens.
    A. Open iTunes
    B. Open Outlook 2003
    C. In Outlook 2003...
    1. Enter Tools -> Options
    2. Select Other
    3. Select Advanced Options
    4. Select COM Add-Ins
    5. Select Outlook iTunes Sync Addin
    6. Click OK
    7. Click COM Add-Ins again and verify "Outlook iTunes Sync Addin" is still selected; if it’s not selected perform these optional
steps, however if it is selected skip these optional steps and move on to step 8.
Optional Steps – Only necessary to perform this if the "Outlook iTunes Sync Addin" does not remain selected after following the
    previous steps
    Still in Outlook 2003…
    a. Enter Help -> About Microsoft Office Outlook
    b. Enter Disabled Items
    c. Enable the "Addin: outlook itunes sync adding (outlooksyncclient.dll)
    d. Click Close
    e. Click OK
    f. Start at the beginning of these steps
    8. Click OK
    9. Click OK
    10. Click OK
    11. Leave Outlook 2003 open
    D. In iTunes…
    1. Synchronize the iPhone
    2. Everything selected should be synchronized. That should include Calendar and Contacts if those are selected.
    3. You can then close or leave iTunes open; doesn't matter
    4. Move on to the next set of steps.
    E. In Outlook 2003...
    1. Enter Tools -> Options
    2. Select Other
    3. Select Advanced Options
    4. Select COM Add-Ins
    5. Un-Select Outlook iTunes Sync Addin
    6. Click OK
    7. Click OK
    8. Click OK

  • Cannot sync Outlook 2007 Calendar with Alltel BB 8330

OK.....Seems like a lot of folks are having this problem. Here is what I've got
    Vista Home Basic SP1
Outlook 2007 (As a component of Office Enterprise 2007)
    BB8330 running OS 4.5.0.127
Configured with two email accounts-Default calendar/account is the same as the Outlook account. (I have Groupwise at work...this is not the default account/calendar)
    Blackberry DM 4.5
    Here's what I've tried....
Uninstalled and re-installed DM countless times
Installing latest version of DM (4.7)
Installing latest version of device OS (4.5?)
    Deleting Intellisync folder
    Sync only calendar
    Running DM as administrator
Deleted all BB calendar entries associated with the Groupwise Email account
Have run scanpst on Outlook and repaired file (it said there were some problems)
First synchronization worked great, the only thing I did between the first and second syncs were change some recurring calendar events and add two events to my calendar associated with the Groupwise account. I have since deleted those Groupwise events and that calendar shows no entries when i look under calendar-options.
Now i get the much discussed "Desktop Manager has stopped working" error when DM begins to process my Outlook calendar. It syncs contacts fine, reads and processes device calendar, then reads 631 Outlook calendar records, begins to process Outlook calendar records and stops immediately. I have to reboot to get DM to attempt to sync again. Here's the log from the Intellisync folder...

This is baffling. I have used a Palm TX for years and was excited about jumping into the BB world. I love the phone but I purchased it primarily for keeping track of my schedule. I am not impressed and have 26 days left on the trial. I hate to take it back to Alltel but its worthless unless I can easily and reliably sync the calendar. Anybody got any answers?

OK...here's the update. I tried a few more tricks, too numerous to go into and NOTHING worked. I finally downlaoded and installed Companionlink Express and.....presto! I can sync again. 49.95 for the Companionlink software. You would think the BB folks could write (or purchase) a decent piece of software. I purchased the 8330 primarily to help me keep up with my calendar. When that didn't work, I had a $200 dollar cell phone. RIM almost got this one back! By the way, the website is www.companionlink.com.

  • Is there any way to sync Outlook for Mac with iPhone? I have tried everything but not successful. Apple says it is not possible to sync contacts from Outlook for Mac to iPhone 5. Any help will be much appreciated.

Is there any way to Sync contacts from Outlook for Mac to iPhone 5? Apple support says that only iTune can only sync contacts from "Contact" which is the default contact of Mac. If one is running Outllok on a Mac machine then it is not possible to sync the contacts with iPhone. It is strange that Apple distributors are promoting and offering machines with promise that Windows users can now run MS Office on Mac machines without any problem. While this is true, it is so strange that one cannot sync the contacts from MacBook Pro to iPhone5. If someone has found a way to sync contacts from Outlook to iPhone 5 please help as it is very frustrating to not be able to sync the contacts. Thanks, Amit.

  • How can I sync Outlook Calendars on 2 PCs with my iPhone?

I have a PC at work and a PC at home ... both have MS Outlook 2007 running on them; I have an iPhone 3GS
I want to be able to sync the calendar from BOTH my PCs on to the iPhone and (therefore) with each other. However, I get a message on the second PC that I can't do this as it is only possible to sync calendars (and contacts by the way) with one PC. Is there any solution to this?
My music is happily synced only with my home PC - fully understand the issues that mean you can only sync those libraries with one PC.

    Hi,
you don't need MobileMe or anything fancy. I personally sync my Outlook calendar and my Outlook address book with three computers (two at the office and one at home)and besides I run Office 2003 on one, Office 2007 on the other and Office 2010 on the third, so it can't get more complicated than that, but it works 100%.
First sync Outlook with iTunes on one computer, having done that when you try to sync it to another machine, iTunes will recognize that it is synced with another computer and ask you if you want to merge the data, say yes, That's all there is to it.
It does not work for music as you rightly say but as far as Calendars and Contacts are concerned it's flawless and transparent.
If you hit a snag talk back to me.
    Cheers.

The syncs were fine until recently and now I cant sync and get an error message that says "outlook sync client encountered problem" What could possibly have happened....I read some posts that say to go back to iTunes 7.3 etc....this has to be a common problem....any suggestions.

  • How to sync Outlook (Exchange) with iCloud

    Hi there,
I just want to share an approach that made my day.
My objective: I want to have my contacts available on iCloud and all attached Macs.
My issue: The primary source of information is my Exchange account so I have the data available on my iPhone but unfortunately not at home on my Macs.
My painpoint: A clear segragation (private/business) is not an option for me (BTW: This is true for the calendar as well; if I am out of the office for some private reasons it does not make any sense to have such appointments entered in a different calendar because this would not reflect availability in the office).
My approach: Look for a solution that allows copying data within Outlook locally. It seems that any "sync option" one is going to install within Outlook simply adds some new folders but actually there is nothing I would really call "syncing". So I did some research for tools that are capable of syncing Outlook folders within Outlook itself. Finally I found a company called CodeTwo (www.CodeTwo.com) offering an Outlook plug-in named "FolderSync" for free. I installed this tool and configured the tool to sync my (more or less) local contacts folder with my newly created iCloud contacts folder. And it seems to work!
    However, there are some drawbacks:
The sync has to be kicked-off manually (via an icon that installs into the ribbon).
There is no option to select either one-way or two-way syncing (it is always two-way which is not really what I want, I'd prefer one-way Exchange->iCloud).
You can configure different folders to be synced (will be done in sequence) but you cannot change this sequence afterwards (I started off with the Exchange -> iCloud sync and wanted to add some backup to another local folder upfront if data gets accidentally destroyed in iCloud).
If the tool runs into a MAPI error (happened several times for some mailing lists or weird contacts) it shows the error and stops (instead of caring on doing whatever can be done; BUT the good news is that if you restart the tool it will continue where it left off so it might take a while but after 5 to 6 times I had all my contacts in iCloud apart those that had issues).
Anyhow you might check this out for calendars, too (I did this for a sample calendar but had really lots of MAPI errors that required a lot of restarts of the sync). Maybe this will work for Hotmail and other connectors supplied by Microsoft, too.
    Markus
And - no - I am not affiliated to this company.

    Thank you for this info!
I was trying to use an app (ContactsXL) that sets up groups for group messaging. I could not get it to work with Outlook contacts. In retrospect, there may have been a way to make it work and I was just doing something wrong. However, it started me thinking about how my Outlook is on my company laptop and how, if I ever leave this job, how will I take my contacts with me?
My solution was to sync (or duplicate) all my contacts from Outlook to iCloud, but I could not figure out how to do it. Your suggestion of the Code Two FolderSync plug-in worked nicely. Now all my Outlook contacts also exist in iCloud and the plug-in keeps them up to date when I make changes.
As to my original issue though, using ContactsXL to create text messaging (and/or email) groups.  It allows you to set up "smart" groups - like everyone whose Company is BMC or such. But when I created a group like this, now each contact that matches the criteria shows up twice! Assumedly one is from Outlook and the other is from iCloud. Fortunately the iPhone is smart enough to know not to send two text messages (or emails) when a contact is added twice, so no big deal.
But thanks to the OP for the research and suggestions. If I quit my job tomorrow, at least I will take all my contacts with me.

Cured the problem! Reinstalled an earlier version of itunes from oldapps.com (version 10) now everything works as it should. I would suggest that if you are experiencing these problems that you do the same. I must say that it is a brave business decision on behalf of apple to effectively lock out all windows 7 users from their products and sales channels and I can only wish them luck in this very shortsighted policy.

  • How do I sync Outlook 2010 with my BB-Z10?

I have downloaded and installed Blackberry Link and successfully ran it. Everything I want has been transferred from my Torch, EXCEPT the calendar. I could get it from Outlook, but I don't see any way of syncing the BB10 with Outlook - which is something I DEFINITELY want to do. I use Outlook all the time.

Unfortunately, we have been told that wired sync will not be coming to BlackBerry Link.
The best workaround we've found is to sign up for an Outlook.com email account. Then install the hotmail connector in Outlook to sync Outlook to that outlook.com account. You can then set up the Outlook.com account on the Z10 (without email sync if you don't want that for email) and calendar and contacts will sync.
I know it's not what you want to hear but it's the best workaround we've been able to find so far. Outlook.com is the best for syncing everything. You can use google if you pay for the Google Apps service. Outlook.com is free.

  • Syncing outlook over a iMac and Mac Book Pro

I'm having some trouble figuring out how to sync outlook over a iMac and Mac Book Pro without connecting them by a cable each time.
Had the Mac Book first and did a migrate to the iMac. Everything is working fine but when I open an email on one it doesn't show that its already been opened on the other.
Is there a way to get outlook to update itself, or a program out there that will do this for me.

It sounds like you're using a POP mail account. POP accounts do not send any information back to the mail server, so another computer downloading the same mail will have no idea what has been read and what hasn't.
IMAP accounts do have two-way communication with the server, so you will be able to sync read mail, as well as store folders on the server and have them accessible to both computers.
Check with your mail provider whether they have IMAP access. You may have to change the server addresses and ports that Outlook uses, but they will be able to give you that information.
Caution: if you end up removing the POP account and adding it back in as IMAP, make sure you save your inbox and sent mail to a local folder first - otherwise it'll be lost.

  • How to sync Outlook 2010 Notes to iCloud account?

I use Outlook 2010 and have installed the iCloud add-in but there is no "Notes" folder under iCloud in Outllok, it will not let me add a directory either. Is it not possible to sync the notes?

You would sync Outlook via iTunes on the computer. Connect the iPhone to the computer, make sure you have the latest version of iTunes running, select the iPhone in iTunes and it will display the Summary page. Select the Info tab, and there you would select what you want to sync calendar and contacts to. Make sure since this is the first time you have done a sync that whichever of the devices is new to the sync process has at least one unique contact/calendar event to get iTunes to prompt you for a merge or replacement. You can see this support document for help in setting up initial syncing. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1296
