Slow texting

Since I updated to ios 7 on my iphone 4, texting and typing is very slow.  I have reset the phone using the home and power button, but it didn't fix the problem.  Any other ideas?

I've heard this works... Settings > iCloud > Documents and Data > Off.

Aside from turning this nifty feature off, iOS8 safari seems it needs to be tuned to work properly.

  • "resolving alias to" message using aliases on 10.6.8 plus slow text-selection behavior

Recently after no particular change to my Mac Pro3,2 running 10.6.8 other than some routine software updates, whenever I open an alias on my desktop to standard folders or files, a message shows up "Resolving alias to" whatever the alias name and there's a 2-3 second delay before the folder/file opens. I've found discussion of this issue in some archived discussions but never found a comfirmed solution described, so I'm raising this again. As in others' encounter with this behavior, the slow opening of aliases happens (1) only in my own user account, not in a guest account I set up for test purposes [I have no other user accounts than these], and (2) only happens the FIRST time I open an alias. Subsequent uses of the alias work normally.
Another strange but possibly related behavior that began at the same time as this alias delay is harder to describe but involves a problem when selecting text using mouse clicks or even highlighting with the mouse for editing. For example, to edit the name of a file or folder on my desktop, I would normally click on the file/folder name, pause a moment and click again: this puts me in edit mode with the current file/folder name highlighted/selected. Now when I attempt this procedure, the second time I click immediately opens the file/folder, as though I had double-clicked rather than clicked+paused+clicked. The only way I can select the name of the file/folder to edit it is to click+long pause (like 3 seconds)+click. Then the text is selected as desired. It's as though the clicks are being recognized (by whatever in the OS recognizes clicks) as much faster than actually made.  There is a similar problem in any program I use that permits text editing, whether Word (Office 2011 for Mac), TextEdit, etc. I have to consciously slow down my cursor/click behavior when selecting text. If not, my actions are misinterpreted as double clicks. This text selection behavior also disappears when using a "Guest" user account, only appearing in my own user account. I Using a different mouse has no effect.
Steps taken so far. I've Repaired Disk Permissions and Verified Disk using Disk Utility, have Safe Booted, and have turned off all login items in my user account, and recently installed the 10.6.8 supplemental update, all to no avail. Any suggestions or has anyone had and solved this/these problems?

I think my problem has been that in Sytem Preferences>Mouse, my "Double-Click Speed" was set to the SLOWEST setting. After some experimentation, I now have the that setting two notches from the "Fast" end of the scale. In case it's important, the "Primary mouse button" in my Preferences is set to "Left".
This not only solves the text selection issues described, but also seems to eliminate the strange "resolving alias to" problem.
[For the curious, I have a Logitech Performance MX wireless mouse which can be configured with "Logitech Control Center". But the LCC software doesn't control double-click speed; this setting can only be made in the Mouse System Preference pane.]

  • Iso 7.1 causing really slow texting

can anyone help me and suggest what i can do regarding slow performance on my 5s, deleted and did a restore as a new phone and the texting worked fine but put my data back on and its back to the way it was running really slow
    please help

LdL, is the performance specific to one site? If you quit and relaunch Muse and create a new empty site and work with that briefly, is the performance normal or slow?
How large is your .muse file (in megabytes)?
Are you on Mac or Windows?
Where is the file stored (file server, local hard drive, in Dropbox folder, in Creative Cloud Files folder, etc.)?
    Thanks.

  • Slow text rendering in KDE.

    Hi there,
I recently starting getting quite fed up with how I felt that writing stuff in kate (or kile, or kdevelop etc) was very slow and unresponsive. The effect I was getting is that there was a big delay (of up to a second or two sometimes) between hitting the key and the character appearing on the screen. It's especially noticeable if you type a whole bunch of stuff very quickly - wait for the screen to catch up!
I did a few experiments, and managed to rule out any kate plugins etc, though I wasn't experiencing the same thing in konsole / yakuake. Also, I noticed that if I made the kate window smaller, so not so much of the text I was editing was visible, it would speed up. In fact, the size of the lag seems proportional to the amount of text visible and being rendered while typing (even if that text is not being changed).
I fiddled with a few settings and noticed that I could fix the lag (i.e. completely get rid of it) by disabling "sub-pixel rendering" in KDE's font settings (and restarting the relevant program). Incidentally, it's not enough to have the the "sub-pixel rendering" box enabled and select "none" - that still creates the lag.
Therefore, I can work around this for now by unchecking the box, but it got me interested in this. I'm thinking that it's something to do with the way Qt is rendering the fonts, possibly to do with my intel graphics driver, but possibly not.
So this post is twofold really; firstly to let others know of the workaround in case they're also experiencing this, but also to ask around to see if other people are noticing this, with a view to filing a bug / feeding back to developers / deciding that I need newer hardware.
    My specs:
    - KDE from kdemod 4.2.2
    - intel 945GM graphics card onboard
    - xorg intel driver  (currently version 2.3.2, but I've experienced the same with earlier and later versions, up to the current git version)
    - XServer 1.6, though again, I've experienced this with 1.5 too.
    - Using EXA for rendering, though again I've had the same experience with XAA. Haven't tried UXA yet.
    So... anyone any contribution?
    Cheers,
    Pete.

I experience sever slowdown in scrolling in Kate with my Intel 965.  However, I do not experience any problems in other applications (Kontact, Konsole, etc.).  I did not experience the problem (at least noticably) when I was using Xorg 1.4 and XAA.  Hopefully, 4.5.1 resolves this issue for me as well...  It's harder to deal with large code files now.

  • Slowing text scroll without changing background clip length?

I have an intro to my movie that uses a sound clip from a song.  The sound clip is 30 seconds long, so my video clip must be 30 sec long (the sound actually carries over into my next clip).  I am using the text scroll to flash the title and a quotation onto the screen, but I want it to move at about half the speed it currently is.
I have tried slow motion but that doesn't work.  I have also added lots of spaces between lines but it still moves faster than I want.  So is there anyway we can slow that text scroll down to a reasonable speed?
    Thanks in advance
    Pat

drag the ends of the Title to the length of the clip.
If this is still too fast, remember 6th grade:
    speed = length + time
if there's not enough time, it can not get any slower

  • SLOW Texting using BlackBerry Q10

I've been using the Q10 since it came out, and still learning some tricks, but from the beginning I find the texting to be slow.
So, when I say texting, I'm referring to the regular texts sent between phones, not using any special app (whatsapp).
I have transferred my info from BlackBerry Torch (including text history, which is saved on microsd) now when I open a chat sometimes the history does not appear until I send a msg. But the thing I find most annoying is after I send the msg, it takes about 10sec for it to appear and cannot immediately text right after sending because some of the letters won't register.
Never had these issues with the Torch, it was all instant. If anyone else experienced the same thing and knows a solution I appreciate the feedback.

I am wondering if the delay is from the network.  After I type a message or an email on my phone, and I go through the action to save. it is normal to take a number of seconds to send the message.
If it is a small message consisting of less than ten lines, I've had to wait about five to ten seconds. This process has to do with the mobile network being polled, then the phone's ID and server's ID's (IP numbers and DNS's) have to be exchanged. Once everything is verified the paths (gateways) are established between the source and destination. Then the message can be transfered. During the transfer each packet has to be verified for integrety. This is a complex process at the data level. There is also the waiting time to have the paths free over the networks. There are many thousands of users at any one moment on the system sharing many of the same pathways.
I've had to wait up to maybe twenty seconds for a message to be sent during very busy periods. During quiet periods I have had the same size message finish sending in about three to five seconds. These are messages of less than 20 lines of text.

  • Qt4 updated to 4.8.7: Slow text scrolling and higher load time.

System is fully upgraded, and i just noticed that every qt4 application has become incredibly slow when using QT_GRAPHICSSYSTEM=native (slow dolphin scrolling, slow konsole scrolling)
It is probably related to text antialiasing, because if i disable subpixel hinting in konsole, it start to scroll fast.
Reverting back to 4.8.6 fixes it.
I want to use native instead of raster because:
    1) when used remotely via x2go and ssh, qt apps are very fast using QT_GRAPHICSSYSTEM=native
    2) with QT_GRAPHICSSYSTEM=native one is able to retain RGB subpixel hinting even over trasparent windows.
    I'm using nvidia-340xx 340.76 with a geforce 9800GT and  freetype2-infinality 2.4.12-2 if it matters.
    Anybody can help please?
    -EDIT
This does not seem to be related to an update of the xorg-server, nor to the graphic driver; i notice the same behaviour when using a remote (fast) vnc connection.
I bet it is a QT4 bug; someone could test please?

It is not just the text scrolling under native graphicssystem to be slow.
All qt4 apps with text edit widgets are now slower to open, even with raster graphicssystem.
Gambas3 ide takes 6 seconds to start; on 4.8.6 it starts in 2 seconds here.
    Just reported both:

  • The old slow text problem crossplatform

I'm sharing a document with my sister. A 32 page newsletter, It has heavy use of split columns (via styles), and photos.
On my Mac pro 4 core 2.66 & 7GB ram computer it runs fine
On her Pc, Amd 4 core 2.?? & 8 GB ram typing slows to a crawl
    On her computer I:
Split the document up into mulitple stories,
Set Live screen drawing to delayed
    Set display performance to typical/fast
    Disabled Preflight
Disabled Text wrap on the text boxes, except where necessary.
I got better typing in a few areas, but I couldn't really discern a pattern.
Could transferring a document crossplatform cause slow downs?
    Jay

Everything shows up fine on my XP, but I'm running service pack 2, so they may not be (and if they're not, they should for security's sake). Things are gray initially, but in the final step AFTER everything has downloaded, IE finally renders all the gray areas transparent. Are they waiting until the whole site has loaded?
This is why I wouldn't recommend iWeb for a business. In the time it takes to figure out a workaround for things that don't look good in IE, you could have bought a program like RapidWeaver or SandVox that may cost a bit more, but wouldn't require any extra work PLUS they're a lot more forgiving of adding .html and other scripts. Time saved.
I don't expect iWeb sites to ever look good in IE unless Microsoft decides to update IE so that it is on par with other newer browsers. Even AFTER this, people would have to upgrade their browsers and, due to the virus thing, many PC users aren't really excited about having to download anything (even a better FREE browser, FireFox).

  • Slow Text Message

Response from me typing is very slow when composing a text message after awaking my phone. Could this be an app running in the background, or does anyone know?

It appears to be a bug in the 2.0 software. Users of 1st generation iPhones and iPod Touch users that upgraded to 2.0 are experiencing the same problem. I would expect a patch from Apple in the not too distant future, but you never know how long it takes to get those things out the door.

  • Experiencing very slow text and image editing. How can i speed up this laggy-ness??

Brochure template I created myself is responding terribly to editing and manipulation.  I'm thinking it could have been a problem with the amount of layers I added on PS elements 12, but I compressed the file and I'm still was having this extremely slow response.  I went through the re-installation process and troubleshooting with updates and whatnot but they proved to be unsuccessful.

So what OS and what version of Acrobat? There may be an issue in the combination.

  • IPhone 3G 2.1 - Slow text input Safari

When typing into a "text box" on a web-page the keyboard becomes extremely unresponsive, even when typing a single word such as 'you'
On a few occassions, it has also caused safari to crash, taking me back to the home screen.
Ive noticed this After the upgrade to 2.1, altough I knew it aleady had an issue with this, I was hoping it would be fixed.
This appears to be an intermittant problem, sometimes its fine, other times its completely un-usable.

i got the same problem, but usually with certain websites. funny enough the Apple Discussion forums are actually the worst for me. you'd think they'd have a mobible version that was more responsive, since they actually make the iphone.
check different websites, see if you still have a problem.

  • Slow Text appearing on Screen during typing emails

    Hi,
Slow teat appearinh on Screen during typing emails

I'm wondering if it's something to do with memory management? I'd been playing Scrabble and other apps prior to trying to send an email and it was sluggish. Then I rebooted my phone, went straight to my Gmail account, and typed quickly and efficiently as usual...
Perhaps some of the apps aren't shutting down properly or draining the phone's memory? This seems like something that can be fixed by a firmware update (or perhaps better coded third party apps).
I'd be interested to hear if a restart helps you guys out too?

  • Slow text messages and contacts

Whenever i press the sms icon it takes longer than usual to show me the text messages. Same goes with the contacts. It used to show up instantly and now it takes a while to show up. Why is this?

"Reset iPhone: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the

Since the iOS4 update my 3G texting has been delayed and can't type as fast as before the update. Anyone having the same problems? Also, the find my iPhone app is useless on the 3G because it requires multitasking, correct?
Going to wait for all the chaos and whoop-la to calm down before getting the iPhone 4.

My texting has been super delayed...can't quickly write any messages, and it takes a long time for the message to load on the screen and to change orientation if I turn the phone around. Very frustrating. I've tried restoring the phone a few times, but it hasn't seemed to help. Have you figured anything out that fixes it?
